Very observant! Yep that was my Mackie CR1604VLZ I believe. I now have a Mackie Onyx 16 channel mixer sitting where the VLZ was. I actually use it about once a year these days. When I do a small DJ gig (about 2 times a year) I use the little tiny 12 channel Mackie I have on the sound and video set up down in the train room.
Yes, cats can live to over 30 years of age. 'tis very rare though. We think my mom's cat I inherited was 21 years when I had her put down. She had cancer as well, and got so she was strugling to breath. I was out at Boy Scout Camp for a week and didn't want to do it before I left because Manet was best friends with her and I was worried about Manet and Blackie to have both Sheila and I gone. Manet would sniff around the old computer where they used to sit and snuggle watching me work and then meow at me very sadly. They do grieve just lke people.....

On the hobby front I went to the club tonight ran a 40 car freight with four SD40s in DPU two on the lead and two more 20 cars in... definitely needed two more on the lead to get over the helixes... record at the club for longest train is 48 cars and I'm not sure how many locomotives... On my way out I got about a dozen cars from Gary all of which are Athearn BB...

Ray I sure hope you don't lose Manet that soon. Blackie will take it real hard. Tiff (second American Eskimo) took it real hard when we lost Sonya my first Irish Wolfound pass away to Rainbow Bridge. While not liter mates they meet each other at 8 weeks. When we got Shaddy second Wolfhound it helped a liitle but Tiff was just never her old self.
Pet Names When Muff (first American Eskimo) had a liter of pups being a car guy I named them Holley, Mallory, Diana and Edelbrock. Ed was the only male of the liter. You have to be a car person to get the names.
Day Off Get to go to work at 8:00 AM so we can get a new breaker box installed. While I am not happy about it with Christmass coming I can use the Over Time.
Brent How long should I let the motor sit from the B&O F7A Split sit before I install it?
Ed Enjoyed the clip! My first Steam engine was a GS-4 Daylight Speical by Bachmann and it ran great, could not pull much but tracked well. Then I got into DCC and dis not feel like trying to install a decoder in a split Chassis engine, hum split chassis? So sold both the GS4 Warbaby and Daylight speical on E-Bay. Had less problems with them than any of my BLI steam engines!

Well, I took my final exam and did not do as well as I had hoped. I got an 87% on my mid-term, and figured I would do at least as well on the final. I felt more prepared and felt pretty good. There were four question, each worth 25% of the grade. They were all or nothing questions—no partial credit. I completely missed one of the questions so I got a 75% on the final. I finished the course with a score of 83%. I am a little disappointed.
The other piece of excitement was a massive increase in the price of one of my prescriptions. My Albuterol inhaler jumped from $1.50 to $55.00. Who knew that breathing could be so expensive.

Cats..we have a 19 year old long haired orange furry boy, who is my little furry buddy. he is 19 years old, not a mistype. When he goes, My OH has said well get a little dog, but I've said no more pets. Alls they do on you is die, whether sooner or later.

Well, we had a miserable mornign.It was snowy and blowing and a whole 11 degrees F. Windchill below zero. A typical February NY day! No snow plows, because we here didn't get the required 3" to bring out the plows. I have to get new tires soon, I guess I bite teh proverbial bullet and buy some.
Need new glasses too, I can barely read the computer at work, and thats "required reading"! Guess I got to bite the bullet on that too.
Health...well I still have a nasty cold. It was a week off for me, i was contaghious for 4 days. It seems to be hanging on, though. All the coughing I did casued a Hernia, so Jan *th I go under the knife to fix it via surgery. ANother week off. Goody.

The washer came bbut not the dryer. There is a connector kit that needs to be with it, but it wasn't ordered so they can stack. They are in the kitchen, no more navigating steep stairs to teh basement.
Trying to decide what to do with my trains. I might just sell them and abandon the hobby. The only option is the bonus room, but it is our dining room as we don't have one and not even have enough space in the kitchen for eat in table. Its only a 750 sft house. Plus the 12x12 bonus room. I don't know what to do.

Train Front Have the replacment chassis feild stripped and ready for the guts of the Mighty Split B&O F7a. With some luck I will have it ready for it's decoder install yet to night. All so added some PRR cars to the CSX GE AC 6000 and it run well!

Ken FIL had two put in his house. They cost about $3k-$5k installed. I don't have that money now.
Our budget is like yours. My OH has two part time jobs to get a full time's worth out of a week, I have my SSDI and a parttime job {allowed}. We barely make ends meet. This month is going to be hard as MY and I were out of work sick for a week. Thats a BIG loss for us.
I need tires and new glasses firsst.

I just remembered a story I'd like to share with you all... a few months ago I was walking into Home Depot and was doing some returns well I happened to have my "Tehachapi: Southern Pacific, Santa Fe" shirt on well the returns lady who was in her sixties looked at me and asked "What do you know about Tehachapi?" I responded that I am a model railroader and my favorite railroad is the SP... she proceeded to ask if I was familiar with the white cross on the hill inside the loop and the story behind it, I said yes she then told me that her now passed husband was one of the men the cross was placed for... I'm not quite sure what I said after that but now I make sure everytime I go in Home Depot I say hello to her... By the way I live in Louisiana.

Steven- I had a similar story with an old guy in his 60s working at the candy store near the mall. He saw my DC Justice League shirt that had the green lantern, with flash, batman and superman. He told me that he's favorite hero was green lantern. We talked about him and enjoyed the conversation. Some shirts are more talkative than others. I never get people that talk about trains. I had a guy who made conversation over a Reese's Peanut Butter cup shirt.
I thought it would be a good idea to make fresh homemade tortillas for breakfast. I took out the lard and mixed the ingredients and made 29 balls. Half way thru rolling the balls into discs I wished I had a tortilla press. Unfortunately I ignored the smell of the lard and since the sun was in my eyes in the kitchen I couldn't tell it wasn't white. I had to throw the finished batch into the trash. Because you would have a nasty taste in your mouth.

Lion ... Actually the cat on the back of the chair (Tori) is not black; she is brown. In most photos however, she looks so dark it is easy to mistake the color as black.

About two weeks after halloween I went to a "Fall Art Crawl" in Zachary and I was walking down the street when a girl about my age exclaimed "Hey its the ceiling fan dude" now before I go on I will give you the back story... for halloween my brother (13) and I (16) went trick or treating something we haven't done in years well I had watched the hit show </scorpion> the night before and one of the characters (Toby) wore a sign that read "I love ceilings!" On it his costume was a "ceiling fan" so I made myself a similar sign and called it good, we'll about the third or fourth house we went to the entire family was in the driveway and they had a lemonade stand type setup giving out candy well the teenage daughter saw my sign and broke out laughing having got the pun... Well fast forward two or three weeks and I'm walking on a side street WITHOUT the sign and the girl yells out recognizing me as the "ceiling fan" I kindly yelled back "yes, I love ceilings!" The End
P.S. the I love ceilings is even more hilarious because of the fact that I stand at a towering 6' 2.5" and I'm still growing... night all!

Been working this warehouse job nights. Mon and Tues I worked this sorting station where hundreds of boxes come down the conveyor ramp and smash into hundreds of boxes already on the conveyor, and they all have to be sorted A or B depending on the side on conveyor. Well at my age, I can do it, but I can't keep up with it. Just too much volume at that cluster point overtaxing the capacity of the conveyor. With my background in interior design and industrial engineering, I could design several solutions that would be much more efficient, but it's funny about corporations. They are quite content to just throw a couple of warm bodies to handle the problem for less cost than trying to fix or avoid a problem through effective planning, never seeing the long range potential of a correct solution. Oh well, they didnt hire me to solve a problem.
One thing I found fascinating in the Dec or Jan issue of MR was the article about assembling an old Ambroid "One of 5000" kit. I had no idea that there are products that can restore life to old decals. Now, if there was a way to copy old decal sheets so one could build several of the same car. What a boon that could be.

Galaxy I knew the chair lift would not be cheap. Surely there a Do It Your Self Kit some where. I checked Lowes and did not see one. Does not seem it would be that hard to install except going up and down the stairs to install it.
Ed Can you post the wiring photo of the BLI F7a handy? I was sure I saved it but could not find it in my photos. I think I have the motor wire in the speaker scocket? Just cannot make out the small print!

Hobby Front: I have a bunch of things on order. (Reworking the yard area yet again.) Three sheets of cork, the afore mentioned 3 way turnout, 3 pieces of flex track and a Walthers car shop. The rework will probably not occur until 2018 as all the pieces will not arrive until after Monday and I don't think I want to be working on the railroad on Christmas. I might, however, do some work on the walls and windows of the car shop while it is at home.

I just looked up the cost around the Rochester area and on Google.... Lets see a "used" one can be gotten for as little as $1,100, uninstalled. New ones, installed, run around $5,000 or so. Don't forget you have to have the wiring for it installed by an electrician to be code, and I know I sure wouldn't want to tackle a project like that without a few other people helping on the job.... Still, it would be what I would try to get done if I thought I couldn't get up and down the cellar steps the do laundry and play with trains. I hope G can figure out a way to get something like that put in.

Manet started on his prednisone treatment today. It is an interdermal gel that I rub in his ear (switch ears every day) in the morning. He gets a larger dose for the first 14 days and then half that for the next 14 days. Then it is cut down to the smaller dose once every two days for 21 days. My late wife was on prednisone for Graft vs Host disease after her bone marrow transplant. She died of the Graft vs Host disease after being cured of the cancer...... Hope that Manet tolerates the treatment and can get months or even a year or so more out of his life. He seemed to be fine today with it, and Blackie didn't try to clean his ear.... LOL
Been working on getting my Christmas Cards done. I will be getting one more photo to insert in the card tomorrow when I am out at my son's house with the grandaughters. Then I can finish printing everhthing and get them signed and mailed...

He reformed his band and now plays with some guys musically talented from his town.
What started as a hobby is getting a little bit big for my brother-in-law's want to do list but he's hanging in there and rolling with it.
Yes it's getting a little big. He is playing in a big Club that provides the sound system. He comes there and just Plugs & Plays the bands instruments.
We will go up there for a three day weekend. He's playing two nights. It should be a lot of fun. Hotel, Cab back to the hotel, all safe, fun fun fun!

The refugee cat, Otis (not Opie, as I first thought. His paws were cold when he filled out the registration card and I thought he signed O p i e. He corrected me) will be going to the vet tomorrow for his "fix" and shots. Then Saturday morning he can join his other five friends in the house. He will be glad to be in a warm setting, to be sure!

Modeling front, nothing to report other than I am still not 100% on a 4x8 but I'm pretty settled on it I will post a thread about the build when I get closer to starting the layout which will probably be in February when I get a job. I tried this summer and everyone needs a 17 or 18 year old not a 16 year old... I applied at O'Reillys Auto Parts, Mary Lee Donuts, Home Depot, Walgreens, CVS, and Tractor Supply Company... TSC was the most promising because I spoke to the manager who said to come back when I'm 17 and he'll give me a shot.
