Morning from a cool and clearing Chicago where I have meetings all day and then my class tonight. Glad Julia is OK. No fooling with head injuries. The bride has been writing a lot lately. Leave a nice comment on her blog at http://acomplicatedwoman.blogspot.com/ Don't tell her I told you...

BRENT if you have a tractor supply near you, go get a cow mat, it is heavy rubber and make an excellent base.

MORNING ALL
As Kurt said slow rain all night, summer temps gone. Looked out this morning and my nice cut grass is covered with wet leaves. I would not mind but my neighbor never rakes them, prefers to share them with all of us. Yesterday grandsons dog got loose, leash broke so my wife spent a couple hours looking for it. Yea she found it. this morning she calls and one of the boys is home sick. I sure hope things go better for her tomorrow at the hospital.
CTT arrived yesterday and I have the MPC B & M I can put together so I'll make it through this wet wet day. Ca. sure could use this but they probably would not want to take any of our snow in return. Sir James

Good morning all,
It is raining in SE Indiana and looks to continue that way all day. We could use the precipitation. Did weights and a short track run. Legs just quit after 10 minutes as I could not go on any longer. May be hitting it too hard. We watched Helio on "Dancing with the Stars". I think they are trying to get him off the show by giving him low scores. It seemed like yesterday was a long day, but I cannot remember why. I hope all the California people get some relief from the fires soon. The dining car still had donuts on it this morning as it pullled in from "Points East". I hope everyone has a good day.
Keep on training,
Mike C. from Indiana

Good Morning from Blueberryhill....
It is a rainy 65 degrees. Suppose to rain all day. Going up to a cool 72 degrees.
Today is another busy day. I have to drive up to Cambridge and pick up the groceries. Drop wife off at the hair dresser. All in the rain. Fun.
I hope all is well with the guys in CA. Keep in touch.
Not much new on the trains. Got my CTT mag. Good articles.
Dining Car is here and well stocked. Breakfast.
Y'all have a great Tuesday. Keep dry.

HI GIZ<
Warm here at 68 this morning and to get rain later. Wish the left coast would get it.
No trains last nite read CTT.
All B safe.
Morning!
We had a small spell of wellness...prayers go out for all of you ailing, and those of you in Cali...those winds sound awful.
Not much going on here...rained all night. Took the family out to Olive Garden for dinner last night, wife had a bad day at work...Dinner out was a good distraction..Kids behaved admirably! They seem to do very well there. 2-1/2 YO, and 6-MO finished 3-scoops of ice cream after eating most of their dinners...'germ bag-eating machines.'
Morning All,
Made a fresh pot. Have not posted in a few days. Spent the weekend at Mom & Dad's. Mom gave us a scare Friday night. She had developed a hard red spot on her left arm so they prescribed additional antibiotic (thought it could be phlebitis or cellulitis). Dad gave her the antibiotic as soon as he got home from drug store. Almost immediately, Mom was nauseous and felt like she was going to pass out. Dad tried to take her blood pressure 4 times and the machine could not detect a BP. Needless to say 911 was called and she had a ride to ER. By the time she got to the ER, things were back to normal. Checked her in and kept her over night. Her heart and all related to surgery seems fine. They called it a vasovagal response (fainting spell). Never dull.
Due to excitement and work, I have not had time to install the sound board in my BEEP. Maybe tonight. Anyone have experience with installing the Electronic Railroad sound boards?
Take care.

CSX- Usually known as just muffins over here. Unless you specificly want to avoid confusion with American Muffins (i.e. blueberry, choc chip etc.) When the term English muffin is used.
Tend to be toasted over here. Then put some butter and Jam on. Or butter and Marmite, my personal favorite.
Saw some of the fire footage on Fox news. Keep yourselfs safe out there people.

Good evening everyone,
Hope everyone in CA is good. My leg is feeling better.
Chief, you are lucky to be related. I'm watching it too right now. She is gorgeous.
We as a country are having a very bad way to go with the fires, quakes and fires and storms and even drought and the whole terroism/Iraq mess and now Turkey is threatning to invade Iraq over the Kurds and their terroists that have been harrassing the Turks lately. We say prays for each other when times are bad but we should also pray for our country, leaders and the service men and women who keep us safe.
Sorry about the above but I had to get it off my mind, All trains full speed ahead again
This is a train board and We have just about anykind of smily you can think of but where is one with an engineers hat??
Gott my latest CTT today and it has two very interesting track plans that would be a great intermediate layout in a 12 x 12 area one of which has no special cut pieces all sectional track may base mine on that one.

Brent, I always figure out the right way to do something about the time I finish the big expensive job I'll never do again!
Cool and raining today and gonna be cool/cold all week! Hope I'm done mowing for the year.
Heroes has introduced a few new characters this season and they mostly are a waste of time. I guess Sylar will rip through them at some point and this way they can keep the good characters around longer. Worked 1 hour of OT tonight, had some Stagg Chili, and just chilling out. Later, I'll try for a game of dutch oven with the wife!
Dougdagrump and Don, glad you are both okay. Prayers for us all!
RIP Chewy - best dog I ever had.

Just saw it tonite on the news that they blow from the east to the west. Push it all out to the ocean. Said high winds and high temps,100 degrees, and high humidity has the makings of a perfect storm? Maybe could pick up the INDIANS from CLEVELAND and dump em in the pacific?
I have read about the Santa Anna winds, but your first person acounts are very interesting. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Santa_Ana_wind When you look at building code maps the Santa Anna's have their own designation.
You guys make sure you keep safe.
Hey, has anybody see Dr. John of late?

DOUG, they live in ESCONDIDO, up on the hill next to a golf course just south of LAWERENCE WELK VILLAGE. I didn't here anything from them so they are probably ok. YUZ GIZ NEED some RAIN like New Orleans is getting.
Evening All !
We are still hanging in here, kinda like smoked hams.
We were notified via reverse 911 to be prepared to "Bug Out", but so far so good. The fire passed a little bit to the south of us, did get a portion of town but some others have gotten it much worse than we have. For a big city it is amazing how the people who have not been impacted directly have really pitched in to help those who have.
For a view of what is happening www.***.com is a local station that is live streaming.
Almost failed to mention, got a call from Chief, just checking on one of the flock.
The wind is still howling at times but "So Far, So Good".

Hey how about some names to go with the pics not all know who is who I know Laz , and fifedog because of comment about the ears, I also know jefelectric because his pic at his post, I also know who nitro boy is now, and Jim trump i reconize but thats about it
Afternoon - I sure will be glad to see Doug (dagrump) post! I am pretty certain he lives in Escondido, currently the fires in that area, are among the worst in the state. I have linked to a map which shows Escondido, note the following;
-Interstate 15 is closed North of Escondido,
City of Ramona, totally evacuated 36,000 people
City of Poway has had 60-70 homes lost, currently being evacuated
Rancho Santa Fe, totally evacuated.
Some evacuation going on in Escondido.
Some homes have been burned even at the beach.
Additionally, fires are in San Marcos and as far as Fallbrook (north).
Over 250,000 people evacuated in the above area, being relocated to San Diego Chargers field.
http://maps.google.com/maps?q=escondido&ie=UTF8&oe=utf-8&ll=33.12314,-117.08221&spn=0.820037,1.057434&z=10&om=1
Just to put things in perspective. The next link shows where I am located.
http://maps.google.com/maps?f=q&hl=en&geocode=&time=&date=&ttype=&q=cerritos&ie=UTF8&ll=33.86854,-118.0637&spn=6.501683,8.459473&z=7&om=1
I am NOT in any danger of fire, the sky is redish brown, from indirect sunlight which cant get through the smoke, and of course a lot of dirt and ash fall out.
http://maps.google.com/maps?f=q&hl=en&geocode=&time=&date=&ttype=&q=cerritos&ie=UTF8&om=1&ll=33.651208,-118.081055&spn=1.630099,2.25769&z=9
The fires are located primarily in arc surround the LA area. Malibu is on the coast of course, then a major fire located in Santa Clarita (north on 5), 25 more homes lost, more fires down in Irvine / Mission Viejo area, (due to Arson (south on the 405)). Then Lake Arrowhead, just north east of San Bernadino. (Another 100 homes lost)
Where the new Cabellas which just opened, is located, at the junction of 15 and 215 in, there is a fire as well.
And there are even more fires a little further north, in Ventura, and Santa Barbara areas.
As long as I have been here, I have NEVER seen it this bad.
And we have at least another day of the high winds, and low humidity. Some places the wind has been recorded at 100+ mph gusts.
Sorry to have so much bad news! Just send a few prayers up for Doug and his Family !!!
Don
