Not much doing today all did the wiring I had to this am at my freinds LHS and got home around 12 and shortly after it started sleeting but didn't amount to anything.

Ran his demo trains for about an hour after I finished as its about the only train running I get done right now till I get this room done and make my layout .

I think it's spreading Chief - I'm on the laptop, tried to post and IE shut down?  Anyway, went and saw Ghost Rider today, which was GREAT.  The first big fight in the movie takes place in a train yard in Texas.  I'm not up on Diesel locomotives, but I think they crushed GR up against an F7 with a truck -- didn't keep him down, 'natch!  Very good movie and I hope they make a sequel since they have the back story laid out now.

Marty - every time I see your pictures of the wiring I think of all those movies where the hero has just seconds to cut the green wire -- or is it the blue one?Big Smile [:D]  I feel for you -- you couldn't pay me to watch the oscars nowadays, even though we never used to miss it when I was a kid.

Just bought 3 books about toy trains - It Comes From Within, Animations For Your Layout, and Wiring Toy Trains.  Should have plenty of ideas from that lot!

BILL, RTRAINCOLLECTOR,  so far I am free for that weekend but don't know for sure, wife might have other plans.  And yes on the Williams passenger set send some pics are they scale or traditional?  Looking to get a set of nice streamliners (6) for the NYC f3s.

Hope we can meet up?

Depends...  Does he want to be technical or on the production end?  We the engineers IMO have a very thankless job, work long hours and only get any notice when things don't work.   I still enjoy it though.

Don't be afraid to start at the bottom.  If you're good people will notice.  We primarily deal with sports but also do entertainment.  Sports is easier to break into because of ESPN and all.  They need runners and help all the time when they come to town.  Find out who the local crewer is if the remote field is what they want.

Good Morning from Gettysburg. Currently 30 degrees to get up to 40.  Had a sloppy mess yesterday weather wise, more messy than icy,  which is good.  The Mrs. and I were able to go to the concert.  Very good show.  Most of the singing was in Gaelic, which of course I don't understand, but beautiful voices and instrumentals.  Another 2 hour delay today. Got to give the staff time to  clear the walks and parking lots.

Good morning from New England. Flurries today. Could get 1" to 3". The Red Sox are in Florida and wearing their new red BP hats. Looks sharp to me.

Julia is continuing to improve. Thank you all for your thoughts, prayers, and well wishes.

All things considered, we had had a fairly nice weekend. The kids and I ran a lot of post war trains. Twin 2056 Hudsons. They are beasts! I keep toying with the idea of buying either a 726 or a 736, but these Hudsons are pretty much the same thing. I like em.

I enjoyed seeing John's videos in the photo thread. Way to be, John!

Great looking bridges, Chuck!

Excellent scenery, Frank!

Have a great day, all.

Mornin' boys.  The good news is that it sure looks pretty outside; the bad news is the grits didn't git here in time.

MartyE - How did you get that picture of the underside of my layout?

Laz57 - If your bear is missing, he may be visiting ATKevin in Alaska.  Whoa will he be in for a surprise!

Good morning all,

It is cloudy and cold again with temps in the 30s and flurries predicted for SE Indiana today.  Where is the global warming?  I checked on the posts yesterday, but it was late in the evening and I figured I could catch up today.  I spent most of yesterday doing "odds and ends".  I ran the 384E for a little while before the wife told me it was messing up her TV show.  I started taking down the temporary standard gauge layout that had been in the back room.  I worked on taxes for a little bit, but then I realized I had a few questions that needed answers.  I watched some of the NASCAR "event" as I do not think I can dignify it by calling them races anymore.  My wife watched the Oscars.  I watched the intro and was totally bored.  I emptied the dining car of bran muffins before I sent it to "Points East", but there is still plenty of cereal, and somewhere along the line, a pretty waitress gets on board.  I hope everyone has a good day.

Keep on training,

Mike C. from Indiana

What a friggin weekend!

- Yes I am still alive - just barely -

Went to the trainshow in Upper Marlboro on Saturday... picked up a set of 3 Lionel Billboards for $9.00, a K-Line C&O Extruded Aluminum Covered Hopper... very nice car!  Scale too I think!  Will look really nice with the scale boxcars I have.  Also picked up my first MTH Engine!!!  C&O F3 A-A, Proto 2, not sure what else.  Rugged Rails version... list was $229.00, got for $115.00!!!  Now if I could only figure out if they work!  Forgot to put them on the test track to check. Sigh [sigh]Confused [%-)]  Any of you MTH guys have any 'pre fire up' advice?  Are these of the version that I have to let sit on the track for 8 hours before running them?

Looks like DCS and TMCC for the big layout now!

After the show I had to rush home for my father-in-law's birthday bash.  Yesterday it snowed so the wife decided I had to box up a bunch of stuff in preparation for the house going on the market and moving... Disapprove [V]  This sure is tough work... had to come to work today to get a break!  Now I'm about beat and feel like I could use an additional 4 hours sleep...

Oh almost forgot, also did oil changes on my wife's 325i and my 325xi and the wife's Solara (Bimmers Friday night, Solara Saturday morning)... Zzz [zzz]

Chief, glad you made it home... now get some rest and get over that cold!  You only have 4 weeks to recover!

Jim, glad Julia is doing a bit better... hope she continues to improve, and glad the checkup went well!

That B&O F3 is one of 2 Diesels that I want to get in the near future.  Good score.  I assume it's like modern day MTH loco's where it has a rechargable battery in it that actually comes from the factory with a charge, but if that charge has been depleted, or the battery is bad (9V), then you will have to charge it/replace it.  Regardless, good price on it.

The local BMW dealership charges some $150 for their oil change, and people actually line up to get the treatment...With what you saved, buy more trains.

Wes,
That's how I justified the C&O F3 purchase to the misses!  When she saw them she said she would have had to buy them at that price!  I told her I could have bought a heck of a lot more, but wanted to save money for York in April.  Saw a Williams C&O BUDD car... I think that will make its way onto the layout... would make a nice addition as a subway under the big town...

Good Morning from Blueberryhill....

It is a cloudy 32 degrees. Going up to 42 today with clouds most of the day. Might get a little rain later.

Today is a chores day. Have to clean up the house and all those little odd jobs that need attention. Maybe , I get an hour or so, to run trains later this afternoon. Glad everyone liked the bridge pictures, yesterday. Once it's painted, the steel bridge will look better.

This week is the 1st of March. This year is going fast. It will be good to see Spring. We have had a cold January and February. Maybe, we'll get lucky and have an early summer.

Well, the Dining  Car just rolled in from " points west ". Still plenty of food left. ( except Bran Muffins ). Time for breakfast.

Y'all have a great Monday. Have a good day , back to work , John.

88 - wow, I didn't know they even put 2.0 in Rugged Rails engines.  It will be hit or miss when running them for the first time.  If the battery is good, it'll crank right up and move on command, if not it'll just idle and sit there.  If you are buying it second hand, sometimes sellers will install a regular 9 volt battery.  This is ok, as it will allow you to test run to make sure everything is running,  you just have to install a rechargeable later.  Either way, nice price, and I'm sure they'll look good on my layout...Big Smile [:D]

Morning all.  Lion, come sevrice wife's car.  Past due.  She will not stop it long enough for me to do it.  Think I could get my creeper and fly down the highway under it and do the service. Dunce [D)]  Got reports to do.  Going to drink coffee and sit a few.  Then go run trains.  Then do clothes [for next trip Thursday].  While they are washing and drying, do reports.  I think I could leave bandaid off of hand but might get banged.  Looks like that it will survive.  AH, sun coming out and warming fast.  So far, no coughing spells but had to take tussinex last night and even "puffed" and inhaler.  Chat later.

Good morning from a sleety Chicago where I have battled snow and ice for two days and have pages of thread notes to catch up on - with my boss snowed in on the east coast, I'm looking forward to it. Heavy wet heart-attack lake effect snow is coming down again. Good thing I have young 'uns to move it around at home.

Ran the trains for some guests Sat. night and of course they misbehaved - my own fault. I'm mad at myself though. I'm at least going to try to run another feeder to the far end of the layout if I have enough wire.  I wish one of you lived close enough to just eye-ball it and give me advice about how to redo it. It looks like a rats nest of wire again.

Laz, that 'priest' cannon-hauler and the new peoples you got look grand. Does the seller of that military hardware have a website ?

Jon (and Mitch), it is interesting to see what's going on in the event-ticketing world - the latest thing in the Chicago arts market (which is pretty conservative) is demand-pricing (you pay for what you want - last min seats to a big show - $$$. I call it the ticketmaster effect or rather the conglomerate effect.

Keith, I like your trolley abuse rule and will add it to the operating rules on my pike - now I've got to find some Slim Whitman...

Marty, I think of you whenever we watch a big sporting event and wonder if you're in the truck. We watched the Oscars as a family - the girls love to look at the clothes. I did a cross-word puzzle. I used to work video editing and production for Satellite News Channels (a precursor of CNN) and later did everything for the South Bend (IN) CBS affliliate. Lots of good stories - and hard work. Now I only do it for church... funny how a career morphs.

Chief, I hope you are feeling better.
