HI GIZ,

Went out hunting pheasants and again corn NOT cut so had pheasants running into corn when they saw our ugly mugs.  Couldn't get them out, DA!  Oh well maybe they'll cut this week?  Anyway a good walk we had, then had burgers and dogs on outdoor fireplace with a few beers, great!

Ran BIGBOY again for about an hour, NO PROBLEMS.  Just one happy face watching it go.

  Try and get picks tomorrow?

later,

Kurt, sounds like you guys had a blast!  I need to get one of those Doyle books so I can see what you're talking about though!  One of these days I'll know all this stuff....  Maybe they have color pics on Wiki?  OTOH, then Wiki would get sued for plaigarism Shock [:O] because someone used pictures of those Lionel products in a book before, or ones suspiciously similar in appearance -- hmmmm?

Sir James:  Still not sure who is going tomorrow...  Bride said she has never gone to one of these before, so why should she start now...9-mo staying with her.  3-Yo said she wants to go with Dad to see trains!  That's my girl!  MiL still seems to be on the fence, no idea about SiL, and her 9-mo.

Took your advice, and ran trains....everything!  2338 w/ boxcars, 2338 with 2400 series passenger cars, 2025 with passenger cars, Birney...

I need to replace a switch...2025 pilot trucks kept jumping track, happened rarely in the past, happened a lot today...maybe it was the 3-yo operator...Whistling [:-^]

See you tomorrow!

If this is an early ZW it's probably the contact(s) at the lever.  Mine has the same problem, and needs to be cleaned every few months.

Just got back in from dinner;bone-in ribeye, sauteed mushrooms, baked tater.Dinner [dinner]

Good day rolling thru the Carroll/Fredrick County countryside.  Picked up some fall "trees" at Michael's (check out the 50% off bins of floral bunches).  Got to Catoctin to pick up some goodies on order.  After 90 minutes, Mrs fifedog made an early Xmas purchase for yours truly.  Not gonna let the cat out of the bag, but it had something called 2.0 with a kitten on it's sides.  I am happy.  Nice day trip, and it helped chase some of the blues.

Mitch, you have a 2333? Does it have the plated rear steps? How does it run? Good puller?

Evening to all.

Just checking in this fine day.  Went to yard sale today and picked up a really nice 8 hp Sears Craftsman chipper shredder for $75.  Had breakfast out with the Mrs.  Scrapple, eggs, homefires and toast.  Yummm.  Spent the better part of the afternoon shredding plant materials.  Will get to leaves later after they have all fallen.

LAZ and Chief congrats on the Big Boy. Looks like a monstrous engine.  Smoke looks like it would run you out of the room.

Take care,

Wow - starting to get a little envy setting in with all these Big Boys!

Cool this morning at 6 when I left for work.  Got in 5 hours of OT.  Then ran by one of my LHS's for some scented smoke fluid.  They didn't have Megasteam, but they had MTH smoke fluid with 3 available flavors including eggs and bacon, barbeque or coffee.  I picked up the coffee since it didn't smell too bad to me.  I hope this is safe for Lionel trains too?!  Will try and get some running time tonight after the family deal or tomorrow after scouts and post pics...  TTFN!

What a day here in New England! Trees are being uprooted. Houses are exploding left and right. Livestock is being sucked into the sky. And the rain! 2 - 6 inches of liquid sunshine expected today. Noel is here!!! My wife wanted us all to attend church this afternoon. I vetoed that motion because A) my hair will get messy and 2) tomorrow is free coffee and donut day!

I took my photos for tomorrow's thread. Got some beauties to lay on ya. Then we ran some trains for a good long while.

HI GIZ,

BIG NEWS GOT MY BIG BOY yesterday TOO!  Just as the CHIEF, said what a swing out on the front boiler a good 2 inches.  Ran it at a crawl last nite for the first lap, I had to move my station back about an inch or would have torn the top off the passenger waiting platform.  Other then that NO PROBLEMS.  I ran it for a good 2hrs at different speeds ranging from a crawl to high ball all PERFECT.  WHAT AN ENGINE!  Now can't wait to get the LAGACY system to do all the little things.  Love the running lites that come on when the engine is in nuetral, they light up the drivers.  ITS ALOT OF BEEF, I weighted the box and all came in at 23 lbs.  But what an ENGINE.  I'll try and get some pics, I only ran my smoke on the factory setting and wow lots of it came out.  Ran it with the hood on and lots of it came out.

Got to go for pheasants now.

Later,

A quick good morning from a sunny and cold Crystal Lake where we really don't have anything scheduled for today - except cleaning around the house and some small projects - hope to run trolleys later. Look like Thomas and his pas arrived yesterday. I'm putting away the boxes until Christmas!

Good Morning from Blueberryhill....

It is a COLD 27 degrees. Foggy. Going up to 60 today with sushine. Looks like the nasty word " winter " is coming.

Today, I have a few errands to run. Then I will relax in the train room for awhile. Have to start dusting again. It's time to start the lub cycle. A few cars are starting to squeek. That will take a few days to do.

Chief...That is one fine looking engine. Big.

Wife is scheduled for her out patient surgery on Nov. 8th. I'll be glad when it's all over with.

Dining Car is here and ready for breakfast. Later.

Y'all have a great Saturday.

Well done Kurt, You are one of the good guys after all. Sorry I got the wrong end of the stick. I too had an *** of a neighbour many years ago. Got one of the local loonies to set off an industrial firework in his porch, didn't cure him though! had to move, last I heard the whole neighbourhood was against him. He should have been bumped off years ago. When I told the police "if you don't sort him out? I would have to" I was threatened with arrest. I would like to put the PC lot and the do-gooders alongside people like him. But of course they live well away from reality.

Jim,

I have 250Gig of HD on my PC, I have about 30Gig of general rubbish and about 80Gig of TrainSim including Trainz and RailDriver. My processor is 2.4 Gig, this now has to be taken up to 3.2Gig to run the new Trainz stuff and it's beginning to look like 1Gig RAM and 512Meg graphics are a bit tight. Take my word for it, you cannot have enough if you are running big railroads. I shall be upgrading ERNI in the New Year.

Nick, Good to hear your train room is going well. If it's in order? I would love to come down to Peterburough to see your set up some time.

I now have Hogwarts on my TrainSim. I have several of Churchwards loco's already, so should be OK with this one.

Evenin' All,

Finally after a really hectic week and a half got some time to kick back tonite.

Got all the remnants of the firestorm ash, tree and leaf debris cleaned up and hauled off by the city. That's the good news, the bad is that we are supposed to have another Santa Ana this weekend. There is a bit of disagreement though as to how strong it will be. Sigh [sigh]

Was running an MTH FM at the museum today and it just didn't put out smoke worth a hoot, opened it up and there was so much wicking in it the fan couldn't produce much of an air flow. Cut a chunk out and like to smoke you out now. Approve [^]

Got a question, any of you guys used carpet tiles on your smaller layouts ?

Eyes be gettin' a bit heavy, still pooped from some very long hours setting up then dismanteling the halloween layout. Coffee ain't helpin'.

Nite All !

Cool new locomotive, Chief - thanks for the pics!

Sir James I - wish I was running trains.  Had to go buy clothes for kids.  Did get to Borders, but they didn't have any books I wanted for the price, even with a 30 percent off coupon I downloaded first.  Ditto Best Buy - some neat stuff, but too much $$$.  Wife got Meet the Robinsons, but I think it looks pretty bad.  Guess we'll see!  Working OT tomorrow, then tomorrow night have to go to my sister's house for a family thing.

Got my Lionel Big Boy.  Ran it. Big Smile [:D]  Looks great.  Sounds great.  Smokes great.  One thing, at medium low speed the chuffs seems to make the whistle sound like it is "breaking up".  Terry is going to check that out with his tomorrow at Miss Edna's.  What a swing out.  Got to run it on my inside mainline or do major track changes in back room.  Up the street to vacant lot for outdoor showing of the Polar Express.  Later
