thanks for all the support and wisdom you guys gave, have given, and will give in the future. i really do appreciate. i am really tired right now as i might have had 8 hours of sleep since sunday. between my wife, daughter, and working out i know my daughter has gotten the most time. i had to oil the wife's body for her as she started complaining about her skin feeling tight. i actually got a little nausea/dizzy from sleep deprevation as i was working out today i had to quit 3/4's the way through it. i didnt even get to do my running and i feel bad about that, but tomorrow morning i'm going to make up for it and do 7 miles on an eliptical machine and also do an hour spin class which will be a total or close to 20miles in all in about 2 hours. but all in all i'm very happy and here's a picture of my beautiful baby girl NAIJAH pronounced NY-JAH

we are home and everybody is doing well.

my layout building progress is now officially on hold and i want beable to do any work until at least after the season and my little one gets a little older. so please bare with me and as soon as i get more work done i will post pics, but for now please bare with me. i will be checking in periodically to update my status and check up on you guys to see if you are behaving properly.

Congratulations New Dad Reggie! Naijah will be a source of great joy for you and your wife - the watch word - patience - they're children! No matter what they do - give them unconditional love and a safe place to live.

Jim - is Weetabix anything like Vegamite??????? I used to have a jar of Vegamite from my travels down under - but it finally dried out...

Good morning from New England.

I had a surprise waiting for me when I walked into my office this morning. A new PC. I've been using a Mac and it has all my files, including all my internet bookmarks. No one told me the computers were going to be swapped, so I didn't prepare for it. Now I have no bookmarks! Let's see how I do using Explorer on the PC. I was using Firefox with great success on the Mac.

John and I went to pick up the new Lionel catalog last night. The store was closed!! It's been that kind of week. What can ya do?

Happy birthday, RT!! 52 is as good an age as any other. Happy B-Day [bday] Enjoy your day!!!

Good morning @ 7 a.m. Snowing furiously--but at 25,000 feet-----and evaporating [spitting]in our extremely dry air before it reaches ground.  Snowing 20 miles southwest of us and will commence here later than forecast [originally for 6 a.m.] just in time for all those delayed openings ---at 10 a.m.

Local TV News nuts are frentic and I am sure along with auto body shops praying for moist air, snow, ice and our normal epidemic of fender benders. Well, according to new [now]prediction, 1-3" of snow then 1/4" of ice later this afternoon. Now 30 degrees.

Having a bowl of my wife's sugar and fat-free cereal that looks and tastes like what we used to feed the livestock. Going for haircut if Barber hasn't hibernated then off to Cardiac Rehab if it hasn't canceled.

Got to quit procrasting and make decision whether to change my yard lead-in by eliminating it and ladder of lefthand 054 turnouts, then installing a Ross 4-way for longer, smoother transition and ability to easily move 8-drivered engines and articulateds into yard. Also will involve eliminating a 072 wye that will free up many scale acres of the layout. Much rail feeder desoldering and Tortoise turnout motor relocation involved. Strongest vote for making the change is more space for structures and against, is in favor of my arthritis and inevitable case of sore "trainneck" and "trainback".

About a 1/4" of sleet on the ground this morning when I went to get the paper from the box.  The road doesn't look bad though.  As of 7 a.m. the schools in our county are still open, the county east of us is closed.  We're now sending the "storm" north-east as a present for the Chief, it'll give him good reason to stay home and play with trains.

I go in at noon today and'll have the store to myself through the weekend.  The boss is out of town for a couple of days, car show in south GA.  With this weather it'll probably be a slow day.

Finished redoing a couple of heavyweights yesterday.  Luckily the paint matches the Lionels I yet have to reletter and if I can get the existing lettering off I can avoid stripping and repainting.

Good morning all,

It is relatively warmer but will be snowier with temps in the 20s in SE Indiana.  My wife and I used a gft certificate and went out to eat last night while Lucas was at work.  I still went to the YMCA later, but I was stuffed.  I tried to post pictures last night, but my efforts were unsuccessful.  I may have to do some research on this matter.  Brwebster, my 8E is an original, but the 318E is a Lionel Classics.  Reggie, nice picture of the daughter!  Take care of her and try to enjoy this time now because they grow up so fast.  My daughters now have kids of their own!!!  I hope everyone has a good day and those facing the snow are extra safe.  "Points East", the dining car has left the station!  ETA, when you post on the "pot"!

Keep on training,

Mike C. from Indiana

Reggie:  WOW what a beautiful little girl you've got!  She must take after her mother! Wink [;)]

RT: Happy B-Day [bday]  Those passenger cars... If it weren't for the house I would snatch 'em up quick as candy!  I've been looking for a complete set for some time... wife was supposed to get the new 7 car set for my birthday, but I was informed they aren't coming due to the house purchase! Sad [:(]

No updates on the house, we should know something definitive tomorrow... you should have heard the wife on the phone with the broker last night!  If I could have recorded the conversation and posted it you would have had a great laugh!  It took her about 20 minutes of straight talking (he didn't get a word in edgewise) to basically call him an incompetant tool!  LOL!  Guess we won't be going with that lender!  LOL!

Good Morning from Blueberryhill....

It is a clear 22 degrees. Looks like we may get some sun. Going up to 32 today, with maybe a few snow flurries.

Happy B-Day [bday] to RT

Today, is a few chores day and then work on trains. Need to do some dusting. All that sawdust is getting bad. Must clean up train room and start the new bridge section. Think I'll run trains too. New factory has little soft lights inside. Looks great at nite.

I see that the folks in the Carolinas are getting hit with some nasty weather. That's really a shame. Whistling [:-^]

Well, the Dining Car has arrived and still has some goodies left from the hungry " points west " people. Time for breakfast.

Y'all have a great Thursday.

Morning all!

Still cold here in Gormley but warmer than it has been.  Get ready for the cold blast coming this weekend though, all courtesy of your friendly neighbors to the nawth.

Watched Emperor of the North this morning...pretty cool movie for us train buffs.  Had never seen it before.  Who threw the switch during that near collision scene?  I didn't see anyone so I can only assume it had a non-derailing feature Wink [;)]

Roy,  Weetabix is shredded wheat breakfast cereal.  I think they're shaped like Quaker shredded wheat ( aka round hay bails ).

Mike C.  I have 2, #8's...one is totally original, the other I restored.  Both are manual reverse units.  My original 318E has the build-a-loco motor and came as a set with the 309, 310, 312 passenger cars in state brown colors ( the Baby State Set).  I've had that set for about 20 years now, my first initiation into Standard Gauge.  I thought of buying a Lionel Classics set with their 318E back during the 90's but it seems funds got directed towards Corvairs at that time.  The LHS has a reproduction big State Set on display that they're not willing to sell.  The "tease factor" of that set is amost unbearable.

Well, keep your stick on the ice, all!

Censored [censored]  First ones I've had in 6 months and the shop is just up the street from me.  So I got out and re-filled the bird feeders [little guys are really hungry when it snows] too.  Got back, she had cooked the sausge for me and also had eggs and GRITS.Big Smile [:D]  Well, go run trains now.

Now, now Blueberry.  You should not make light of our good friends to the South plight with the weather.  Just because we consider their so called snowstorms a light dusting and they have never seen a blizzard with wind chills at -80 degrees (Ohio - 1978), making fun of their timidity, except for Lisa, to the snow, is not appropriate unless it is the CHIEF.   Then you can fire away. Laugh [(-D]

Reggie, glad to hear that mother and daughter are doing great.   Also, your posting about the stolen trains in Pennsylvania was interesting.  About three years ago, we had a case where thieves stole a trailer containing the local modular clubs layout.

Laz, what do you mean you are unmotivated? The bear will be returning from Miami and the chase will be on again.

So Jim now has a PC......This will be interesting. Whistling [:-^] I foresee Censored [censored] words from his office very soon.

RT,  I hope you have a Happy B-Day [bday] today!!!

Now some not so good news.  Today I had and x-ray and they found an 8mm kidney stone.  Last summer the stone was only 5mm, so it has grown.  I will be heading to lipotripcy in a couple of weeks to have it blasted.  This will be my third time for lipotripcy and it is not fun.

See ya down the tracks,

Buckeye,  Hope the proceedure goes as easy as possible.  Is it the lipotripcy or the passing of the "rubble" afterwords that's not fun?  After suffering with gall stones I had the whole thing removed a number of years back.  Not an option when it comes to kidney stones though.

I'm uncertain if not knowing what the phrase means has to do with a lack of hockey south of the border or y'all don't know who Red Green is. Wink [;)]  Then again, does "south of the border" mean the US/Canadian border or the Mason/Dixon line? Smile,Wink, & Grin [swg]

Still snowing here in Greensboro---occasionally stops snowing and sleets awhile. This particular storm didn't hit N.C. mountains so I had planned to go to our high country cottage tomorrow and do some train stuff on the shelf RR.

But, new snow storm from west has moved in. State of Tennessee just announced that highway 441 between Cherokee, N.C. and Newfound Gap Tennessee is now closed. Several tractor trailer wrecks on I-40 near Asheville and I-77 now reporting wrecks. By night time it will reach my place on the northwest side of 4,600' Bloodcamp Mountain across Elk River Valley from 5,500' Beech Mountain. Gets colder than a well digger's....er, big toe up there. TVA power lines across those mountains begin to get clobbered if ice is involved.
