Good Morning from Blueberryhill....

It's a cold morning. 14 degrees. Going up to 28 today, with cloudy skies. No call for snow, but more tomorrow.

Today, I am going to Cambridge, to do the grocery shopping. It has to be done. No fun job. Gas dropped to $1.89 a gallon. That's good news. I hope it keeps dropping.

Got a lot of work done on the layout, yesterday. All I have to do is run permanent wires to the back room. Ran a train thru the tracks to check clearances. All looks ok. More work tomorrow.

Dining Car arrived from " points west ". Ready for breakfast.

Y'all have a great Wednesday.

Chuck

Yeah. I did run it for a long while the other night and noticed that the motor was hot, which is unusual for this locomotive. It usually runs very cool. I think I might have had it pulling too much, but it never balked. Last night when I ran it, it started running slower and slower. I'll try cleaning it up. There was a lot of leaking smoke fluid along the bottom. If that doesn't fix it, I'll buy a new motor and test my new soldering skills.

Hope it's just something simple, maybe clean & lube or how about brushes ? Chief will probably know just what it needs ! I don't think you need a whole new motor !! Anyway, hope you get er' goin' !!

It's a modern can motor, John. Keep your fingers crossed. Those can motors can get expensive. I think they go for $3-$5 in my area! Wink [;)]

Mornin' boys.  Delayed delivery isn't the domain of the train manufacturers.  My recliner Christmas gift is finally being delivered today.  There's just no credibility anymore.  Mrs. fifedog is not going to let me put it in front of the computer; she says I already spend too much time there.

Morning all,

I have a question here, but will post a new thread about.  I am interested in getting the Greenberg's guide to repair modern era lionel trains.  I know this has been out of print for awhile but if anyone has an extra copy they want to sell.... I am game.  Perhaps we can convince Kalmbach to publish it again.

Thanks,

Dennis

Good morning from a cool Chicago where it is 8 below and I am thawing out after my brisk 20 block walk from the station. Really enjoying reading the latest CTT - nothing like a long train ride to peruse it. Our own Mike C's article is a keeper. I always lend my latest copy to my conductor friend on our late night 'milk run'.  He was full of stories last evening - it sure was interesting to hear about his adventures on C&NW freights in the very cold.

The local CBS affiliate was chastised about putting a 'count-down' clock to the Superbowl in the upper left part of their screen over the weekend. Seems it was too distracting to the viewers of soaps and Hallmark Hall of Fame movies... LOL.

Good morning from Dallas where it is 33 degrees, sleeting and snowing. Supposed to get to 42-45 today - so no accumulation if the weatherpersons are to be believed.

Good news from the foundation engineer - it is within 0.2 inches of where it was over 10 years ago. The recent moisture lifted the rear of the house back to where it was previously. The bad news is the two trees in the front yard are affecting the center of the house (previous not-to-bright owners planted them within 10 feet of the house) and need to be taken out. Looks like it will be a busy spring here.

Have a great day all!

Regards, Roy

It is a beautiful day in Buckeyeland.  The sun is shinning and nary a cloud in the sky.

MS VISTA is here.  Are any of you using it yet?

Where's Kevin from Alaska these days?

Are there any good train shows in Ohio this weekend?  My birthday is getting close, so Mrs. Buckeye said that I could buy myself a train gift.  She suggested that six track pins would be appropriate or an unlighted lockon.  Smile,Wink, & Grin [swg]

BUCKEYE maybe a six pack wins instead of pins? Always good for your birthday.

Buckeye - gosh - six track pins! - that's double what she suggested last year!

I anxiously await my copy of MS VISTA which was included in the price of the new laptop I bought for my business in Dec. I have to use it as the new laptop came with MS XP Media Center Edition and XP MCE (unlike XP Home) will not allow connection of MS Outlook into a corporate MS Outlook Exchange server. From what I have seen - VISTA offers nothing but a new user experience (read that pain in netheregions) and no option to have a "classic" view.

Good to see some of our newer posters like Lisa signing in on the 'Pot regularly.

John--

Also have Emperor of The North on here, I rarely watch movies but I think this one might be worth owning.  I know I'm dating myself with this comment but it's sad that we don't have more movies like this being produced today.  Tremendous actors who probably didn't know how to spell rehab and no camera gimmicks.  Lee Marvin & Ernest Borgnine--gigantic actors.

Buckeye--I also have a birthday coming up soon, I'm hoping for above zero temps--that would be wonderful.

whats the number on the side of your steam engine if its the one I'm thinking it may be either the board in it or the dc motor both not that expensive of parts to get.

JON,

You are probably right about the actors, back then they could act.  Also say EMPEROR of the NORTH in drive in with JERIMIAH JOHSON.  Great double feature back in '73-74?

Good Afternoon all!

Excuse me while I catch up a bit here.

Congratulations to Reggie and Wife on the new arrival!

Colin,  Glad to hear your dad is back home and feeling better.

Been noticing that Mike C. is running some of the same Standard Gauge equipment as I have.  A #8 and #318 in particular.

Chief,  The layout is looking fantastic!

Laz,  Looks like I'll be running conventionally for a few more months while Lionel "debugs" TMCCII.  Too bad they can't do something about debugging customers who pre-ordered only to see release dates pushed forward.  Right about now I'm "BUGGED" beyond belief.

Wifey and I made a trip to the LHS last Sunday.  She's genuinely interested in the hobby and does chose some of her own favorite equipment.  Well, there in the display case sat a second hand Weaver Milwaukie Road streamlined Hudson. (F6?).  She liked it a lot and who am I to argue if she wants to buy herself ( or me ) a brass engine?  So in no time it was on the test track.  Unfortunately it wouldn't budge....just sat there with lights and sounds but no movement.  I guess it's 10 year old QSI system had issues.  Consequently that was a no sale but in retrospect maybe my money would be better spent once some TMCCII engines start arriving.  Bought a nice K-Line smoking N5C instead, a scale caboose I was sorely lacking to run with my scale freights.  Looks nice behind the GG1 even if it's a western division cabin.  I might cut down the truck mount areas a bit to get rid of it's "Johnstown Flood" look.

Later all!

Bruce Webster
