Merry Christmas!
Chef, You should get some replies since there are quite a few Ohio guys on the forum. You might want to put your question in a separate tread since not everyone reads the pot. Enjoy your vacation.

Thanks for the information. I am on vacation in Lebanon, Ohio for a week. I wanted to see what runs down here. Do you know what railroads runs by?

Chef...First of all Lebanon is a beautiful small Ohio town. It was an old stage coach stop between Dayton and Cincinnati.
For train watching, forget about Lebanon and go to the museum (old train station in Cincinnati) and watch the yard from the tower and see the huge S scale layout of Cinncy. It is the best layout in this part of the country. There is also a good train store in Mason, Ohio which is very close to Lebanon. It is in the old downtown area of Mason on the north side of the stree.
Have a good trip. Hope you can stand all the Ohio sunshine.

Got a call from my LHS a couple of hours ago. My disappearing hobo car finally came in. Rose didn't say whether the hobo was still with the car or not. So will make the trek to the Train Works tomorrow to pick up the car. Will be my first time with hands on anything train related in quite a while. Today was first day of winter and it looked like it. If I had been up North I would have expected snow with the gray skies but the temperature was in the mid 60's. Leaving town next Wednesday night on Amtrak 92, the Northbound Silve Star, for the big apple for a few days to celebrate our wedding anniversary. Will come back on Amtrak 97, the Southbound Silver Meteor. The ride will be more comfortable going up the old S line through Columbia, SC than the A line through Charleston, SC. Will give a report on the new dining car menus when we get home.
Baked a batch of cookies from a recipe of one of my Great Aunts from the early 1900's,(my Great Aunt, not me) They turned out well. If you are in Jacksonville, stop by! Any of you Yankee boys remember city chicken? I fixed that dish for Madge last week and she just about rolled in the gravy, she thought it was that tasty!
Prayers to all for recovery from surgery, illness, and loss of friends, especially at this time of year. Have a blessed Christmas or Hannukah and a great New Year.

Thanks everyone for the good wishes!!!! The surgery went well. I cannot put any weight on the knee right now. I have some pain, especially when I adjust my leg. I'm hoping the pain will leave me soon, as I really want to be able to walk on it before Christmas, even if a little.
Thanks again everyone!!! Have a good evening.
Excellent news Colin, get better soon. York is a few months away....
Mel, I guess I'll see you on the morrow...Hope David will be busy!!!
I just got my announcement for the Deland show Jan 12-13th. I may be able to go, my trip to NJ later that week may be postponed due to lack of green....at least Christmas will go well.
Sitting here having a little Dinty Moore Stew and watching the Polar Express run around the tree. Nice way to end the week.

Lee, baby. Say what?! Wishing me a chilly winter? That's not nice...and so close to Christmas. I'd send you a lump of coal if I wasn't burning it to stay warm!
I was going to visit Orlando, but I heard it's a Mickey Mouse town.

HI GIZ,
Ran my BB with Legacy all good no problems. Did some cool stuff with it hope to do it again if I remember what I did? Ran trains for 2 hrs. NO PILE UPS!!!
Going up to SHAMOKIN, Pa. tomorrow to see big HO layout of the coal region.
Got my CTT today, not to much in it. Liked the review section on the Hogswart express and the transformer article. Also the twin dumpers on the last page was good. DAVE CONNLEY. nice pic.
B safe,

Just got back in from Bluegrass Jam at a local church, they sing mostly gospel but do a few non religous tunes as well they ended the program with Franklin county woman
They break halfway thru for dinner(I only ate a small piece of peanutbutter fudge) was a pretty good turnout for being close to Christmas.

Went to 2 LHS's today with no luck getting scale windows/doors so will have to look into buying online. Oh well. With picking up some last minute stuff for the wife and delivering some gifts to a friend, I didn't make it to electic trains on Page, so no Ross switches to play with - Wasn't going to get to them until next month anyway, so maybe will just wait now. If I save my allowance, I can get more then anyway!
Sorry I missed you Sir James, I was out eating with friends and then watching Jingle All The Way with the wife and kids before I finally got to CTT website. Some time, why don't you shoot me an email (just hit the button) and send me your home email address? I tried sending to you, but I think it must have gone to your junk folder or something.
Got my CTT magazine and read a few pages this morning waiting to go on the fieldtrip. Nice letter Don! Spotted that even without help from others! Hope to finish reading it later.
CSX - I LOVE Bluegrass too!
RIP Chewy - best dog I ever had.

Good night.

I pretty much have already forgotton all the items I was going to post about. But, do remember the most signficant.
Colin - Glad your surgery went well, hope your recovery is quick, and the discomfort level low !!!
Brutus, thanks for the compliment. I have yet to see the letter. I remember sending them some emails regarding the switches and TMCC / DCS compatibility. But honestly don't know what I said. Maybe I will find out tomorrow or Monday.
Had our 10th Annual Final and Last Christmas Party, tongiht. Had all our employess over for dinner and celebration. Pretty much typical Office Party. Just a couple of minor adjustments, as we do have a small office and limited resources.
Gave everyone a "Bird" for the Christmas dinner. (We did Cornish Game Hens as oppossed to Turkeys, lot less expensive)
Everyone got a Christmas Bonus
Dinner was catered at our house, (Wife did the catering)
I made a short speech regarding the future, we discussed expansion plans, (Adding a storage rack)
Attendess were:
Me - Operations Manager, (Do a lot of train planning)
Wife - President, Receptionist, & stock clerk
Mother-In-Law -- Bag Lady, (She opens plastic bags for customers)
Father-In-Law -- Chair Facilitator, (He holds down a chair at some computer shows)
Son -- Vice President of Fun Stuff (Messes around alot)
Was a nice evening by all.
Hope everyone has a great evening.
Don
I agree with Buckeye. This is a great museum. Great layout and in the perfect scale Around Christmas time there used to be and mabe still is a nice temporary layout set up at the Duke Energy building in downtown Cincinnati, a few blocks from Fountain Square.
Thanks all for the nice comments about the grandkids in the train pictures. Some proper attire is really needed, the kids father is a fan of a team from the north; one more reason not to like him!
Laz-Have fun with the legacy
Colin-Hope and pray for quick recovery. You'll probably hurt more today than yesterday but it will get better. Now you will be able to predict weather with the amount of pain in your knees! My knees woke me early today.
Anyone heard from Lisa?
May God bless

BRUTUS hope they come in sometime this next week. Suppose to be stormy here with rain, that means more train time and no flintlock hunting, gun won't go off to much moisture.
I'll let you know. Hope you get you doors and windows.
I got it !!! Finally........
Found out the tracking number for my Legacy system. Looks like it should arrive on the 27th. Maybe, just maybe it will arrive early.
Hi All,
Managed to stop by my LHS yesterday. Picked up some scenic items. To my upmost surprise I spoted a MTH catalog near the counter! The shop owner was not even sure how they came by it. Made a play at educating them to the joys of 3 rail O.
Finished laying the slate floor in the gamesroom today with FIL. Leaving to dry and then paint with two coats of clear seal and then grout over next few days.
Merry Christmas,
Nick
