Morning Folks.
Back home safe and sound after a journey to Northern Virginia yesterday. Exchanged gifts and had dinner with BIL and SIL. Their youngest was sick in bed all day. We missed her lively spirit and energy. It was much too quiet without her. Dinner was awesome. My BIL is as great cook. He made a prime rib roast that was out of this world.
Have to run some errands today. Saturday AM took my son out to breakfast and our favorite restaurant is closed for an extended vacation. So we wind up at another place. Had to run out to ATM since the place did not take credit cards and I was short on cash ... Left ATM card in machine and when I tried to back up to get it, the machine had swallowed it. Also need to hit a supermarket to find a flank steak for our traditional Christmas Eve dinner. My son and I have been making this dinner since he was bout 3. That Christmas Eve the Mrs. was under the weather with a migraine. She was trying to sleep to get rid of it, so we made dinner. The main dish is rolled flank steak tournedos served with hollandaise. Yummm.
Here's hoping that everyone has a Merry Christmas. Take care. Run some trains....

Good morning from New England!
It's 8:55 and I just woke up! What an odd feeling! The day is half over! Last thing I remember, Santa was leaving my kids a message on the phone's answering machine. The old elf seems to have a southern drawl!
Great to see Lisa posting! Thanks for the kind words, Lisa!
Bruce, is that a Corvair I see?!

A Holiday Affair (1950) will be playing on Turner Classic Movies this afternoon at 1:45. Don't miss it. Lionel trains play an important role in the film. Post war Lionel trains!

Merry Christmas to every one.
Spanky bird I have a question about your home town. I work in eastlake, and pass the willoughby coal company and see a train car in the yard there. Do you know if you can stop in and look at the car? do you know the history about the car? Thanks
MERRY CHRISTMAS.

Yes you can stop and visit the car.
Beginning December 1, 2007 the new Willoughby Area Welcome Center will be open in the historic train car located at Willoughby Coal & Garden Center, 3872 Erie Street. The Welcome Center is a 501(c)(3) nonprofit organization formed to educate visitors and residents about the history and uniqueness of the Willoughby area. The Welcome Center will be open Saturdays from 10:00 a.m.-4:00 p.m. Those who board the train car will find souvenirs and interesting displays such as the history of the American Freedom Train, and vintage medical artifacts commemorating the Willoughby Medical College. Additionally, a model train exhibit depicting the 1926 Interurban railway will be completed in early 2008. Anyone interested in volunteering, making a donation, or other information please call 440-942-1905.
this car was part of the American Freedom Train from the 40's (I think).
there are a few more pics of it at www.willoughbyohio.com
It was in Sharon, PA before being moved to Willoughby.
You should also make plans on stoping by 'The Western Reserve Model Railroad Musuem' in Mentor.

MERRY CHRISTMAS ALL!
Hope everyone is having a relaxing Christmas Eve! I know we are!
Got my shopping completed last night as they kicked me out of the store. The better half will do well this year! He-who-is-14 is at high alert status and as Don B might say - he is throwing off sparks. She-who-is-16 is at work. She gets off in time to join us for our traditional Christmas Eve dinner out (Texas Land and Cattle Co - guess what we are having!) and then we head to church for the 9 pm Christmas Eve services - where she-who-is-16 sings in the choir. Our church has 5 services today culminating with the midnight service.
Tomorrow we will be joined by some good friends about 4 pm for Christmas dinner at our house (we alternate each year). Traditional fare with turkey, dressing, mashed potatos, veggie dish, cranberry sauce, brown & giblet gravy, pumpkin pie, and chocolate pie (both pies homemade - yum!).
Have a great day all!
Regards, Roy
To all my friends here on the "pot"!
Still here at work, supposed to leave here at 4pm. Get out of here, take a nap then off to church for Midnight Mass (which, for he first time in recent memory, it is actually at Midnight!), which we will leave the abode at 10:30pm. Carols at 11:30 Mass at 12:00. Then, a short nap, help Santa wrap presents, then another short nap, I'm sure my 15 y/o will get us out of bed about 6 or so, unwrapping the morning. I'll start cooking at 11 or so. Turkey Dinner with all the trimmings (just had no more cash for pie...). Should crash face first into the bed by 6pm. Of course, making sure I get my Christmas Story fix during the day. Probably pop in my favorite It's a Wonderful Life. Funny, I haven't seen all of it yet...this year....
Please remember those who protect us, Fire Police and Military, they are there for us while we party...

Seems we have the same menu planned for tomorrow, Roy!
Just got done watching A Holiday Affair. Great Lionel 2343s featured! Good movie. First time I've seen it.
Off to family's house now for Christmas Eve dinner and presents.

Family is having spiral cut ham, me on the otherhand am going to have optifast shakes
We are having spiral ham tonight. Not my fave, but hey, a free meal is a free meal!
anjdevil2: I was thinking the same thing today! There are a lot of people who won't be able to be with their famillies this year. Thanks and Prayer for those who will be protecting us this Christmas.
Colin: Hope things are well for you, and your knee!
Miss Lisa: Glad to hear from you!
Relocated presents to garage, awaiting Sants delivery. Traditional Pierogies for Dinner tonight!
Kurt
Saw Holiday Affair last night on TCM. Also saw on the History Channel that the New England Purtians outlawed Christmas. In fact it was outlawed in Boston in the early 1800's. Figures.
BTW: My folks that came with John Smith at Jamestown celebrated Christmas.
Merry Christmas All !
Santa made an early stop to drop off the Thomas & Friends goodies for our grandson. Grampa has them set-up, tested and ready for tomorrow morning. They are parked in the tunnel so when he fires up the layout SURPRISE !
It is absolutely fabulous being a grandparent !!!!!!!!!

Merry Christmas to all
Colin-Glad the knee is doing good. Listen to the docs and you'll do great!
Bruce-Good to have you back
Lisa-Good to hear from you again.
Kurt- Thanks, ordination is next year, this was a step towards ordination.
CTXect- I remember Chris the nite owl. Remember the sunglasses?
Adjdevil2- Enjoy Midnight Mass! I wish I could be there. It is a special service.
Chief-I saw that same show; love the history channel. Weird how holidays and the like can get twisted around.
I am on night shift for the next three days so we opened presents this afternoon and had dinner. Grandkids and daughters were there also. Love to watch the kids. Bride gave me a year subscription to CTT!!!!
I had to leave for work about the same time everyone was getting ready for Church. I'll get off in the morning at 7 a.m. and go the Christmas Mass at 9 a.m. and help serve.
It has been real windy in Southern Ohio. At church we have ¾ life size nativity we set up. Sunday the wind came along and trashed the stable and blew the figures into the street. We made repairs but it looks like we'll be looking for another set. Our church is right on Rt. 52 west, and sees a lot of traffic and folks around here kind of use "the church with the big nativity at Christmas" as a title / landmark.
I will say a prayer for each of you that this Christmas finds you well, healthy and blessed. Look for Christ the faces of those around you, and open your hearts to receive the best gift there is, Jesus.

Yes and it was Fritz the nightowl, last I heard he was doing a gig as a radio station with jazz music.
EVENING ALL
It sounds like everyone is busy and I'm looking forward to tomorrows dinner. I doubt the kids will get me the new pickup I ask for, so probably pjs and a shirt or two. they know I don't wear ties so at least I won't get that. And trains are out as I just get what I want. that leaves us back where we started. A lot of words, little said.
Brutus-say goodnite to chewy for me. MERRY CHRISTMAS,,,,,,,,Sir James
good evening everyone. Just trying to send off a few messages before going to place the kids gifts around the tree. They keep jumping out of bed to see if the big guy has been here yet. Hope everyone has a blessed day and may you be blessed in the year ahead.
