Kurt, did you use coarse sea salt?  It makes for a better rub and flavor.  If you used finely ground salt, it will make it too salty.  Otherwise, sounds like a great meal.

Kosher salt. The recipe called for 1/2-cup of kosher salt, but I thought it was too much.

Hey Jim,  I have done my share of shoveling snow as a child in Stratford Connecticut and Reading Pennsylvania, learned how to do donuts in the snow in Reading PA, only my dad was not impressed at all. Some cooler weather predicted for monday & tuesday of the coming week, around 52 overnight.

Have to replace my wiper blades on my car as the sun has cooked them too much again.

Going to play with the CW-80's after the holiday season.

Kurt,

When I do one of those I like to have quite a few guests, the method to my madness is prior to serving I cut it off the bones b4 carving and save them for a nice pot of barbecue ribs bones. Chef [C=:-)]Dinner [dinner]

When it comes to cooking I prefer to use kosher salt.

Having a blast getting ready for friday, should be lots o' fun. Clown [:o)]Approve [^]

I believe the Sea Salt that I have is Kosher.  Hard to believe that it wouldn't be.  As to where I get it, Publix Supermarket.  It is in a shaker can about the size of a 16oz Soda can.  I find it around the seasoning section.  The powder/fine salt is too small and puts too much salt on the food for my taste.

We use the Morton coarse 'Kosher' salt because it is larger, easier to get a pinch to season as we cook.  I understand that Kosher salt dissolves faster in hot (heated) food.  I have not tried Sea Salt.  All sea salt is not 'Kosher', but there are 'Kosher-certified' sea salts.

I found this at Cyber-kitchen.com:  Kosher salt: Coarse salt used for koshering meat; i.e., drawing out the blood by soaking in salted cold water ("melikha").

Laz - congrats on the Legacy system, sounds like a real winner Thumbs Up [tup]

They have a show called Taste of America that did a segment on sea salt.  This guy has these A-frames he made with clear plastic tents and raised tables inside that have troughs covered in black plastic.  He picks up a big tank full of sea water, drives back to the salt "plant" and fills the trays.  When it is dry, he harvests the salt from the plastic.  Also any other minerals or residue that was dissolved in the sea water!  That's it - it is bottled and sold.

Well, our travel lady is off this week, but when I go back to work after the Holidays, I have to get stuff settled to travel for 2 weeks training, but not to Baltimore, sorry Mitch, Fife, etc.  Should be nice in Orlando for two weeks?!  Smile [:)]  Trying to figure out if the family can come visit on the weekend while I'm there and we could do a day at Disney or something.  Then I'll be running some training in our office.

Sir James, Doug, Nick, and all are welcome to come over for some icecream (only 4 points per serving!) or we also have pretzels (2 pts) or popcorn (2 pts), so it's yummy and not too bad for you!  Chewy is all pretty after a bath and grooming and would like to show off the new "do"!

EVENING ALL,

Ctt arrived saw but not yet read the Jumijo article, it looks like a very nice layout. I was running the HGX today and decided to check the CW-80 as it was still in the set box. Clipped two wires to the layout track and it worked just like it should. So back in box. Also ran the 773 from the reissue set. I wish they had used NYC instead of Lionel Lines on the tender.

My wife came home from Awanas christmas party and brought me some peanutbutter cookies. yum. Brutus don't tell Chewy I ate them. Stop by for ice cream if you come this way.

           Sir James

Edit 10:06 Kurt- did you read the instructions for the dump car you were having trouble with?

Watching Supernatural from last week on dvr - pretty good and scary!  Wife called, she's at Walmart getting stuff for the stockings.  Got my CTT too, but haven't had a chance to do more than look at the cover.  On my way over, Sir James - TTFN

Evening all!

Hope all are well. Finished and shipped the HO layout to NYC. Got a report that it arrived intact and the new owner is very happy. Have one more Lionel layout to finish this week and delivery is Jan 3 or 4. Owner's new house is not ready, so it will not make Christmas. They came by and looked at it last night. The 5 year old was awestruck and was busy running trains for quite a while. Good fun.

Weather here has been very nice. Cold mornings followed by nice afternoons (low 70's once in a while). Might rain Sat with falling temps to the 50's.

Went shopping this evening and scored a couple of items for the better half. I am doing very good this year as I usually do not venture out until 2 or 3 days prior to Christmas. This year I have 4 significant gifts already!

Have a great evening everyone! Another busy day tomorrow.

Regards, Roy

Jim, the name of the movie is "Fireproof".  As to the release date, they are looking at August, '08.  The filming part is done, so now it is upto edit.  This should go relatively fast as we did it all in HD/digital.  They had a guy here who's job was to download all video/audio feeds as they were being shot and it allowed for immediate rough edits.  Remarkable stuff when you get to see behind the scenes.  I will try to update as we draw closer to completion.  If you google Fireproof the movie, it should lead you to a web site.

I am getting tired tonight.  Did 10 cases and still have some to finish.  I also have an early morning case, so I will sign off for now.

God Bless,

Dennis

I've been sitting here crying. I am so sad right now. Seriously, I've been crying here at the laptop. Chewy trying to lick my face.

Tried to email my friend before he went to work and got a copy of an email full of pain and anguish and a good bye instead of a pleasant talk and some info about trains.

The thing about real friends is you let them in close where they can really cut deep.

Dennis:  Great name!  Our youth group uses it too!  We'll look for it in August.  Just read Synopsis.  Only in theatres?!  Sony Motion pictures!?  Looks like your're in the big time!  Great news!  I was ready to call your church to buy it.  I'll hype it at our Church.  Please send information on getting posters.

Brutus:  Hang in there.  Try thinking about Chewy licking peanut butter cookies and banilla off Sir James face, while singing 'I've got a lov-e-ly bunch of Coconuts' Diddle-de-dee-dee.  Hope that helps.

Kurt

Edit:  Sir James:  Now why would I do that?  Laugh [(-D]  OK...I'll do that.  Sigh [sigh]

Watched a part of a bad movie this am 'Torque'.  They ran motorcycles on the passenger cars from one end of the train to the other.  The tops of passenger cars were ramped to jump the motorcycles over the connections.  Pulled by an unnamed silver F3.

Morning to All.

A fresh pot is on.  Yesterday was a busy day. Went to DC to pack up our son and bring him home for a few weeks. Also had tickets for a White House Tour.  It was nice,  but I would not have to go again.

Will try to check in later today.

Take care,

Mitch

Kurt, thanks for the kind words.  Our church has been blessed with the right people to do this.  We had doors opened for us at the right time to work with Sony.  I will keep you informed when we know more.  I think Sony has budgeted a fair amount of money towards marketting, so I am sure you will see advertisements regarding the release.  They are renting a 10 theater complex to host the premier.

Well, I am tired!  worked all yesterday till midnight and got called back at 0435.  Will stick it out for a few short cases this morning and then I will head home to crash.  Wife has plenty of honey dos for me, so it will be a short nap.  No train time for the next few days.

Hope everyone is blessed this day,

Dennis

Dennis, you've worked hard on that project.  God bless.  Will be looking forward to seeing it.  You did that and worked your regular job.  Maybe now you can do some trains and relax.

Morning all.  Sunny and warmer today.  Got to run to Town for some shopping.  Have a good one.

Good morning all,

It is slightly milder today with temps in the 40s in SE Indiana.  I got home last night and as soon as I hit the door, my wife asked if I wanted to go back to Indy.  Long story short, went to Steak'n'Shake, and took tricycle to granddaughter's birthday party.  She is three and she was so excited to see us and the trike.  It was worth seeing her expression, but it was a long night.  At least my wife drove both ways.  I had a little extra on the usual fare from the dining car this morning.  I am also glad to see a fresh pot of coffee.  I hope everyone (especially the Corvair fans) has a good day.

Keep on training,

Mike C. from Indiana

Morning from a quiet and grey Crystal Lake. I have three 5 yr olds to watch over this morning while the bride meets her girlfriends. They'll want to run the trains. Although there's a lot on my bride's to-do list for the day, I think I can fit that in. Wink [;)]
