Chief, what do you feed the deer in the cold weather? Last winter I was surprised to see some deer in my back yard eating the birdseed I had put out after a snowstorm.

We feed the deer, here, too. They will eat birdseed because it has cracked corn in it. Found that out. We feed them shelled corn. They love it.

GOOD EVENING ALL,

Lee F-your welcome, have fun

Brutus-I still have ice cream and chips, peanuts, was at the store today but forget cookies, sorry. I think we did ok with the HW cars as last nite the #20 went for $31.00+s/h.

It was 33 today but no signs of snow going away. streets are clear now, didn't take to long after the wind stopped. I let a couple of trains run around today,I like to let them run while i'm doing other things as it's kind of like ,oh here comes a train. Not bed time yet so i'll drop back.

Hey Sir James!  Good Coffee, did you make it?  Went to our kids' Christmas pageant and my folks came too.  Nana and Papa got to visit with the kids for a few minutes after the show and they were happy, will see again on Christmas Eve.  Mom will have knee replacement due to arthritis in Feb?  This is good, will get rid of pain!  Sounds like we did get great deals on those HWX cars!  I was just thinking some icecream would be great so get a bowl ready!  Chewy would like a big spoon of peanut butter and nothing said to my wife, okay?  ;)

Watch out now.  Frankie's wife is Italian.  Come to think of it, her madian name means "wall layer" in Italian and her Dad is the last of his family line of brick/stone masions.  Frankie has now learned the trade and helps his FIL on his days off.  The night before their wedding, Pam and I gave a good old Southern Pig Pick'n.  Those Italian Yankees from the state of NY loved it.  A happy fun loving group of people.

Had a successful train night tonight!  Got my Cotton Belts back on line.  Had a capacitor come off, which was strange.  I had the cab off and the cap just fell off a pcb.  What surprised me was the leads were still on it.  When I put it back in the holes in the PCB only had solder on one side, like what you expect in a wave solder machine.  Just the solder dimple.  But no solder in the feed-through hole.  Got the cap back in and now secure.

Then got the Polar Express put up around the Christmas Tree, and everything is good.  And the C-80 transformer is great!!!  Had some minor problems with it after first of last year, had it repaired and boy did they do a great job!  Looks like a Newone!

Glad to see the environment is improving, Too many good guys here for anything else to happen.  Thanks everyone!

See you all tomorrow.

Good Morning from Blueberryhill....

It is a cloudy 37 degrees. Going up to 40 today, with maybe some sunshine later.

Today is the day to drive to Cambridge for the groceries. Nasty job. Prices still high. Gas is still around $2.90 a gallon.  We have been averaging only, about 600 miles a month, lately. Car insurance is lower. Looks like no train time today. We'll be busy until Sat.

Dining car is here and ready for breakfast. Later.

Y'all have a great Wednesday.

HI GIZ,

OK the BIG NEWS is got my LEGACY!!!!!!  YEA!!!

The worst thing about the system was the wait for the batteries to charge up.  After the charging, I put the module chip in for the BB,.  Transfered all the info into hand held and we were off and running.  Neat way of starting the BB, you press start up and the voice say I'm going to start this Big BOY up now.  Sounded real cool.  The other great things are the speed settings for various settings, slow ,med, fast, and high balling.  Where the voice comes on and says we are high balling it now, pretty cool.  Also with the speed you can see by a graph how fast you're going.  The one thing I couldn't find on the new Cab2 was the reverse button.  I had to read this and where it is , is a toggle switch on the boost and brake button.  You press in on this and toggle the reverse and forward applications.  Nice big veiwing screen.  I used the throttle, red L knob and really like it.  You can feel the steps by way of a little click.  All features worked great and the smoke unit  for BB works terrific.  You press the number 9 key and smoke comes on, press it again and you get the low setting, press again and get the med setting, and again get the high setting.  Neato features.  Only played with it for about 20 minutes but boy it sure is COOL.  As the CHIEF said "IM IN LOVE".  ME TOO CHIEF ME TOO.Big Smile [:D]

I'll report later on other stuff I didn't try yet.

THIS IS REALLY COOL!!!!!

I'll be running maybe later but have to do my Christmas shopping for my wife tonite, and its GIZ NITE OUT SHOPPING.  Oh boy!!!!!

CHIEF,

  Question for you,

Do you leave your Cab2 reciver plugged in all the time even when you aren't going to run your trains for a few days?  I don't see why not but can't find anything in the book about it.

Good morning all,

It is cool in SE Indiana with temps in the 30s.  I did trackwork at the YMCA and Christmas cards for people at work.  Finals are for Lucas this week.  The only classes he has to worry about are English and Math.  Everything else is ok.  I hope everyone has a good day.

Keep on training,

Mike C. from Indiana

Mine shuts down when I throw the breaker and kill the whole layout.  I read in the book [or maybe that is an understanding] that it is OK as most chargers will not damage rechargable batteries if left for a few days.  It did say to turn off charger if you use non rechargeable batteries [why you would use those, I would not know??].  See if they get hot.  If they get hot, just unplug the power wire at the base.  I've got to read more.  If they are Nikad, you need to discharge them completely evey month or so.  Nikads build memory.  Will, after a while, only discharge as much as you normally use them.  My power drill batteries and the like, I have a flashlight that uses them.  When they get weak, plug them into the flashlight and it kills them completley.  Then recharge.  If they are Nikad, about once a month, leave the remote on and let it die.  I'll read the book.  Was wanting a report from you on the Legacy.

A quick morning from a sunny and slightly warmer Crystal Lake before I go out with the bride to help her food shopping. She likes to go super-early. I am getting in her way this week. Wink [;)] Great news about Legacy, Laz.

Did you see my layout rearranging photos on the Christmas layout thread? Big Smile [:D]

Morning!

Bride arrived with a standing rib roast (prime rib) the other night...said she couldn't pass it up for the price.  Last night was my first attempt at one of these.  I found a salt crusted horseradish recipe and went for it.  OH MY!  Au Gratin potatoes and roasted parmesan asparagus.  It will be hard to go out for Prime rib again.  Planning on trying the horseradish rub on the brisket in the summer!

Chef:  I added 3-TBS salt to make the crust.  The interior was seasoned perfectly, but the outer crust was a too salty.  Any tips?  Should I remove the crust before serving?

Doug:  Great photos!  I liked the last one the best!

Afternoon guys, nice tone on the pot today....thanks.  I am pleased reading the good reports about the Legacy.  Mine was ordered early on so I guess it will be here before too long.  Looking forward to using it as I have a few TMCC engines and this will help with the bride as "Honey, these new engines have a whole bunch of goodies to enjoy since we have the Legacy system", that and some nice jewelry should give me the go ahead to get off train restriction for a few engines.

Anyway, hope everyone is having a good day.

Kurt, did you use coarse sea salt?  It makes for a better rub and flavor.  If you used finely ground salt, it will make it too salty.  Otherwise, sounds like a great meal.

Just finished baking my fourth loaf of chocolate chip bread for the neighbors. I will leave one by the pot for all of you. You guys waiting for Feb.; I just got my Jan. CTT in today's mail. Then again, I just renewed a month late - Wink [;)] glad for the non-interruption so I get to see Fife's layout too.

Dennis, where does one find coarse sea salt? I guess I haunt the wrong aisles in the supermarket. I'm going to now try to make Doug's sugar cookies ---
