Jim,
The bookcase was originally a Christmas present for the Grand kids, that grew into a bookcase for each one (3 grandkids), my youngest daughter liked them so well she asked for one which is the one I'm finishing now.
It is made from 3/4 red oak plywood, with solid oak facing. I planned it to get the most bookcase from a 4x8 with minimum waste.
Here is a picture of one of them. It looks like the girls will use the bookcase for oriental sleeping berths.
Last day off till I start dayshift. Going to miss the trainshow in Columbus. When you guys see American Flyer stuff, think of me. Maybe a good thing I'm not going, train budget a little low.

10 inches?!! Somewhere a weather babe is smiling! We are expecting 2 inches of White Death overnight. That's 2 inches more than I'd like.
The Chief is in Greenville, NC, holed up in some hotel waiting for his breakfast. I just spoke with him an hour ago. Said everything there is covered in ice. Some 80 cars off the road in the Raleigh area. His wife stayed home from work because of the conditions. Most likely, she is playing with Chiefie's trains as we speak. I hear she likes to run 'em white knuckle fast!

Good morning,John, Take care of that cold. It does sound like you are on the right track with your treatment.
Brent, Jim beat me to it but yes Atlas is going to make an undecorated F-3, choice of one or two headlights. Delivery is July. And then there is the cost. $409 at AM Hobbies for a powered unit and 175 for unpowered. List is 479 & 199. They make great stuff, but it is not inexpensive. The three unit Railking I bought yesterday cost less than that A unit.Weather here this morning is clear and cold. 23 on the back porch, 36 in the pond and 64 in the greenhouse. Finished ordering my seeds on line yesterday. Will start some things about the first of February.
An elderly gentlemen with dementia in a nearby town wondered out yesterday and froze to deathPicked up a Railking FA2 A-B-A at the LHS yesterday, haven't run it a home yet. It ran fine at the shop. Need to decide what to take off to put it on the layout. This is work out morning at the fitness center, going to take it easy today. Been having shoulder and back pain. Thought it might be the old ticker, but Doc says no. Did xray's of back and shoulder's. Now says it is Arthritis and to take Tylenol. That is what I was doing before I got his professional opinion. May get some catenary installed this afternoon, but this is the evening that I do dinner for the bride so not a lot of time left.Enjoy your trains and keep warm.

Mornin' boys. Day 2 of the "mini" vacation. Six year old is going stir crazy. Wants to go out on her swings (temp in the teens)!
Bakeer - Mornin' English. Guess you will find out how good your roof slates are, eh? Not sick here, but I'll have a swig to ya.
88 - manufacturers will tell you they don't put out undecorated shells for "quality control" reasons. When they learned (ATLAS) that they could command the same price for an undecorated engine as a painted one, they started releaseing them.

Jon Bakeer - I guess you'll need to visit the local pub(s) to get some meds. for that cold. Hope it doesn't hang on too long.
Lionel had "Magnetraction" on their engines for a number of years and its been relatively recently that they've been using traction tires. The tires are cheaper to manufacture. The magnetic force was not all that great but it did help with traction. And yes you did need to make sure no iron scraps were on the track.
Good Morning from Blueberryhill....
It's a cloudy 26 degrees. Going up to 45 today, withmaybe some sunshine. That would be nice. No snow on the ground.
Today, I am going to do a few things around here. I will probably go to the lumber yard and pick up some wood for the layout, tomorrow. I think I have a good idea how I will build the bridge supports. I will have to cut some track with the Dremel tool. Much faster than a hack saw.
Well, I hear the whistle, Dining Car has arrived. Breakfast is served.
Y'all have a great Thursday.
Chuck
Good evening all,
It is warmer but cloudier in SE Indiana with temps heading to the low 40s today. My wife had my dad over for supper last night so there was no time to run trains. Brwebster, that is one fine looking Corvair in the picture. Those were good cars. I wonder if GM will ever get it right again. The Solistice by Pontiac does come close. I had a 1973 Opel Manta that was really sweet. All I did last night was run Lucas around and go the Y. I guess "Points West" better head east with the dining car. I hope everyone has a good day.
Keep on training,
Mike C. from Indiana
John, it's 14F degrees here in New England. Time to break out the sweaters!
Lion, I believe Atlas is coming out with an undecorated F3 this year.
Laz, your layout is coming along great!
HI GIZ,
25 and little cool here no wind though.
Hooked up lites last nite only 5 and ran trains about 25 minutes all good.
HAPPY FRIDAY EVE!!!!

Thanks for you commiserations I am taking the medication liberally I shall soon be as well as a newt. Lost my voice, my dear lady is now able to get all the last words in.
Sorry to hear of your health relapse chief.
Are you talking degrees F or C? We are on Celsius with zero being 32 F, it's now 12C, I think we are now getting the severe weather that hit your eastern seaboard a few days ago. I live under the airport glide path and I find it a bit unnerving to see an aircraft flying like a crab, glad I'm not on it!
Can't wait for USPS to deliver my train set.
Have a nice day all.
Good morning, everyone.
At 14 degrees, it's twice as warm as it was yesterday at this time. I hate winter!
John, take care of that cold before it turns to something worse! Keep yourself well lubricated!
My wife's sister came over last night and bought pizza for everyone. That was a nice surprise. Then all the kids fell asleep early (another very nice surprise) and I got to run trains for a while by myself.
Not much else going on. I'm going to build some shelves this weekend to store trains on. Got to head to Home Depot for some materials.
Have a great day, all.
0930GMT here in a very windy Stockport 80MPH gusts forecast and a lot of rain some local roads are closed by floods, chance of snow tomorrow.
Got myself a humdinger of a cold, Vet says "take plenty liquids and keep warm", so it's pints of hot strong tea cooled down with a good measure of Scotlands finest and the 'stat turned up to 24deg.
I read somewhere that Lionel are/have equipped some of their loco's with magnets to aid adhesion-bad news; Hornby tried it about 20 yrs ago (they called it magnadhesion), I only bought one so equipped a 'Lord of the Isles' 4-2-2 as my track was NS the engine could barely propel itself, but much worse the magnet found vast quantities of iron filings on the track; yes you would be amazed at how much metal we have in our homes. Just try running a good magnet across the carpet, it's everywhere!
Close on a ton of posts since my last, this looks like being one of the biggest ever. Hadn't noticed the ad's until some one mentioned them. TV ad's are worse because they crank the volume up, I tend to record commercial programmes and then zapp the ad's during playback.

The Williams engines are quite inexpensive so that is why I'm leaning that dirrection and just stripping the shell and repainting it.Brent

Brent, I would guess that the problem is that none come over from China in undecorated. The market would be very small.
Yep today is the first time I saw the ads.
RIP Chewy - best dog I ever had.
Evening all
Busy day. Final coats of poly on the bookcase. Making some trees for the layout, and cleaned up my car after loaning it to my daughter. Now a little study after surfing. Spose to get cold again.
All have a good night
Question of the day..........
Where is Buckeye ????
I see the ads - I think I noticed them last night.
Roger - congratulations! Sounds like a kid in a candy shop! Be careful or you'll spend more than you make there and end up working for the company store!
Nothing much here - people keep ROBBING me on ebay - but if they want to pay more than me, not much I can do about it. Was looking at this magazine I picked up and saw a couple places had the MTH 787 reproduction on a great sale - of course, they're all sold out already!
Good Evening Everyone !! Awful soggy around here yet & so is my basement. Though it's slowed up a bit down here .
Congratulations to Roger !! I think I've seen their adds before & I think Roger is really going to enjoy working there !!
They just said on the news that today is the day most people toss out their New Years resolutions !! I forgot to make any !!
I wonder if we would be able to buy the new MTH wireless tethers they came out with. Pretty neat I think !!
Well hope everyone has a nice evening !!
Thanks, John
Geeez, so much to catch up on!!
Sorry I'm late....Had too many projects to complete before lift off on Friday.
All this talk about Chevys....making me itch....I have a '70 RoadRunner Convertible in NJ, and since this a TRAIN forum, I'll leave it at that!
Cold (relatively speaking) and raining today about 55ish a very raw day to be sure.
I saw those ads also, first time I thought that was just a single post and didn't look for more!! Just saw it after the first post, not the sides of the forum screen. I saw a N&W steamer & tender in my LHS (lionel) brand new in the box for $125 (down from 300 something). Tomorrow, I'll try to get there to get a part number on it. I'm pretty sure that it just has a whistle, not rail/trainsounds or TMCC. I'll see what I can come up with.
Work calls again...be well all

Naw, it doesn't bother me, but I was wondering if it was sort of a test such that ads could be put between every posting because we don't have the ads down the right side of the page anymore.

My buddy and I disassembled the 455 motor in that 442 one day. He threw every single bolt in a 5 gallon plastic pale. I could have choked him. It took me a solid week to figure out where each one went! I miss those days!!
