The match won't light any more and the only guy that knew how to walk on stilts moved out of state when he caught wind of this new discovery called electricity!  Just wait till they catch on to Radio, TV, automobiles, trains, airplanes, and indoor plumbing! Orn'ree bunch here today, I see.  Be nice to Mayor Chief...at least until BOXING Day.

Well GEEZ LOUISE were we lucky in the fifedom.  Last night I pulled the old dryer out to disconect the gas line and all the fittings, and saw the true extent of the damage.  The lower left portion of that mama-jama was the color of a roasted marshmallow, and the white paint had started to bubble.  HOKEY SMOKE!  New dryer arrived today, and I hooked it up when I got home, and now it's tumbling its first obscene load of towels.Thumbs Up [tup]

Hi all, About 3 deg C here in Peterborough today.  Got the gamesroom lighting finished tonight. Those colour change LED's work great. Should be able to simulate sunsets with the light effects. If you hear of a worldwide cable shortage its because its all in our gamesroom loft!Wink [;)]

Its not far away from being finished just some more painting and the floor to lay. Then the real fun begins with layout constructionSmile [:)].

Brutus, I know you like UK TV. Have you come across the BBC show "Spooks" yet?

Have a good one

Good Evening All:

Here on Long Island we are supposed to be getting our first snow storm tomorrow (YEAH!!!).

It is actually supposed to start as snow, then rain, then back to snow, so it will be a total mess.
Happily I work from home, so bring it on!

This should give me some time in the afternoon to work on the layout, which is finally free from all the dust of the malfuntioning shop-vac. In a 60's vintage Lionel set that I bought on e-bay, a few extra goodies came with it, including a Lionel PW crossing signal that has a bell in the base of it. The set came with all the paper work including the one for this, so I will also attempt to get this working tomorrow.

Sure hope you put down some good sound deadener, if not the noise from the track to the wood will be deafening. Mine was til I fixed that by gluing down woodland scenics foam roadbed then hotmelt gluing the track to the foam. Now it is as quiet as a mouse.

Got doing more thinking about this remember what I said but then again as stated he had foam under his. Guess I do need to look into one more step before track the more I jaw on your sugestion the more I'm starting to agree and think I'll be much happier if I do .  not sure what I'm going to do but it will be something to make it a little quieter than If I did nothing.

Good evening everyone,

It was a good day here. I found out that I got a 91 on my Religion test, and I thought that I failed. So that was a good thing for the day.

From what I understand, we are supposed to get an ice storm here in the morning/afternoon. And on top of that, they are calling for 6-12 inches of snow between Saturday-Sunday-Monday. I hope it doesn't snow on Saturday because I REALLY want to go to the train show in Philly. This is the first show that I will be attending since about April. And, it'll be hard to walk at any show after December, because of the surgery. So, hopefully nothing bad (weather or health) will happen. And if it happens on Saturday, the roads will be cleared by Monday, so we would have to go to school.

Have a good evening everyone.

Sad news about the trusty F-150, the mechanic said its got a problem but I can't find itConfused [%-)] they think it may be in the fuel injectors maybe a coilConfused [%-)]

Good news the Trans Am is running fine and nobody messed with it at work they use about as much the same amount of gas. My truck is 7 years old but has low mileage and should not be having problems yet.

Wow! Welcome to the pot, Chef. That's quite a day.

Fife, glad you got to fix everything without a serious fire!

Colin, way to go on that test.

Csx, know how you feel, I'm still paying off an earlier repair on my beloved suddenly-dead 14-year old Hyundai... Hope the 150 comes back to life.

I got to have a long lunch at a nice Mexican restaurant north of the Loop - complete with a nice Mexican beer. Then I got to home early! Now I'm watching the youngest and a friend whilst the bride goes over to pray at the church. Hope to run trains a bit later for them; hopefully, like Laz says, with no pile-ups.

The struggle with these old trains continues! Going through the arsenal and running locos, I decided it's time to run the 681 steamer. I love these muscle locos that run like a flaming cat!!! The only problem is the whistle tender won't work with the loco, it's fine by itself and no loco. Answer to my post please. TTFN

I take it that you are a proffessional Chef? I like to cook but am not very good at it, hot and spicy chillie, penutbutter milke shakes and a cornbread that has cheese, cream corn, chopped peppers bell and or hot and a cornbread mix, it makes a tasty moist bead good by its self or with taco meat/beans and all the fixings is about all I have managed to fix right.

Evening All.

CSXect- I have a 2000 Ranger 15000 miles. at 11000 engine stopped while I was waiting for a lite. After blocking traffic on a main street for about five minutes it restarted as if nothing had happened but check engine lite was on. It was a sensor. Dealer fixed it no charge. Now I hear they admit it (sensor) is stalling a lot of their products. Only problem I have had with it.although not many miles for things to go wrong.

To the newbe-I hope you are oiling those axles and armatures before you run those great old trains. you will be doing them a big favor if you are.

Brutus- pumpkin pie and ice cream if you are headed this way.

We had sun today 36 but not going to last, snow again by noon tomorrow they say. Reg. gas is $2.84 and sat in Toledo I paid$2.74. And whats with eggs at $2.00 dozen? whats going on? I suppose they are eating all the corn also(the chickens),,,,,Good Nite Chewy,,Sir James

Just got home a little while ago from my son's first band concert. They
were terrible as expected, but it was fun to watch him in the center at the very back pounding away on his percussion thing (it's not a xylophone(sp?) but it kinda looks like one) and then when the audience applauded at the end of "Hot Cross Buns" and "Mary Had A Little Lamb", he stuck his hands up with the index and little fingers out holding his drumsticks and nodding like Ozzy Ozborne or something (not that he has seen Ozzy - as far as I know) - it was hilarious and he got BIG laughs!

88 - expect to see progress on the layout room then, congrats on so many jobs done (making me look bad man!)  Laugh [(-D]

Nick - I haven't seen Spooks, is it good?  Just now catching up on some old Dr. Who from 2006 and found out there was a spinoff called Torchwood?  Got some episodes of Extras on a tape from a friend and they were very funny - esp the one with Daniel Radcliffe and my favorite (still) Diana Riggs (Emma Peel)!

Chef - [welcome]  When do you find time to run trains!?  That's a lot of food!

Doug - I did enjoy a cool Sam Adams with my sandwich yesterday, yummy!  Winter Wheat Lager.  I heartily recommend one of these.  Two, if you are not driving OR don't mind pile-ups!

Sir James - I'm on the way for Pumpkin Pie!  Chewy says she'd like a lick or two as well!

I had my old Ranger until it was old enough to drive itself and really needed a new engine.  Traded it in and the guy asked if it had FM radio!  LOL  That was a great little truck.

I know I missed some, so God bless us all!

RIP Chewy - best dog I ever had.

Brutus, I searched for 'Spooks' - looks like an interesting show - have you ever seen Black Adder? - another good one. I had a Dos Eques (sp). It was good, but not as good as Sam Adams.

My, our young guest is still here - I put our son to bed an hour ago. I guess his parent's Christmas party is going late - almost 10 pm for a six-year-old who has school tomorrow - sheesh!

Doug, for Dos Equis (?) I add a slice of lime - makes it really good!  Black Adder and Mr. Bean are all time favorites along with Dr. Who, Good Neighbors, Rising Damp, To The Manor Born, Are You Being Served (these last 2 are on some cable channel now and I've actually caught a few episodes recently), Rumpole of the Bailey, Monty Python, and many others too.  They even ran a short series based on Blott on the Landscape, which is one of my favorite books.  I'm not sure if they ever did Wilt or any of the other Sharp books.  Very dry and wickedly black humor there.

RIP Chewy - best dog I ever had.

Speaking of things British, I just rediscovered another book of mine - containing the railway drawings of Emett - among other things, he invented the models in the movie Chitty Chitty Bang Bang.

Welcome Chef.  That meal sounds like a winner.  I like to do a little cooking, just for the wife and myself.

We are going to have to be careful here on the pot with a Chef and a Chief.  Getting a little confusing. Wink [;)]

A little nasty weather predicted here also for tomorrow.  Nice part about being retired, I can stay inside and look out the window if it gets nasty. Thumbs Up [tup]Smile [:)]  Unless I have to take the wife to work. Sad [:(]

Some sprinkles and then rain Saturday evening.  Bring on the rain!!!  With all the leaves that I am going to do for a while, done.  Maybe some trainroom time.  Will probably go to Raleigh tomorrow and get Grandson Carter his Lifetime Sportsman's License.  Lifetime hunting and fishing for NC.  If he grows up and leaves, can come back an hunt and fish in NC without another license.  If he lives in NC, will not have to buy a another license in his Lifetime.  I was the 82nd person in NC to buy one in the early 80's.  Saved me a lot of money.  Then go by Sears and buy a HD 42" flat screen TV with all the bells and whistles.  That is what Pam and I are giving each other for Christmas.

Old man aches from using leaf blower and working.  Goooood night all.

PS: Brutus, Jon Engelhardt is a retired band teacher.  Now he can talk band and music forever. Smile [:)]

Got computer back from wife, but now it's bedtime.  So sorry to hear about Gil Fin/Steve Frame's passing away.  God bless his family and friends.

Chief, Jon has my sincere admiration if he managed to withstand this for an entire career!  An hour was too long for me.  Oh, Joy, We get to go to another one in April!  My wife was in band and was shocked that they didn't have any "posture" or something.  I dunno, I was going to do band, but my folks talked me into taking an extra science course instead.
