Brutus be careful about going off a diet as sometimes it cause you to backslide a bit, did the weightwathers thing once and lost a total of 15 pounds it came back and then some but if it works for you keep it up they have some cool recipies my favorite was the sub(mini sub) and this pie that was made out of low sugar yogert and a matching flavor jello as sugar free it is awsome the best combo is key lime yogert and lime jello.

I think playing with 3 lionel trains and one marx train last night burned some fat as I was following the trains around the loops lots of fun.

compiling a list of stuff needed to build benchwork mostly connectors and hardware items.

GREAT JOB!!! Keep it up CSX.

Sure hope you put down some good sound deadener, if not the noise from the track to the wood will be deafening. Mine was til I fixed that by gluing down woodland scenics foam roadbed then hotmelt gluing the track to the foam. Now it is as quiet as a mouse.

will see as its a small layout and don't want to run to fast as shelf to floor is about 6' 6" (not good on a trainShock [:O]) Had a passenger set do that once thank goodness for thick carpet . One car pulled the other till all came down.

I have a few real quiet engines (most williams i've had are don't know why) Freind had foam under his lionel fastrack and it was kinda niosey when he ran his display trains at the hobby shop and I brought my williams in and we could hardley hear it. (basicly he had plywood foam about 3/8" thick then Green paper and then track. )

Same story when I brought in my williams sharknose (and there 80's - 90's model. ) the real noise maker thou was when I brought in my 2343's now theres a noise make for you lol.

I figure down the road I'll do something anyway this is just temp till I figure what all I want to do with the shelf layout. and if I'm still here a couple years down the road who knows I might have a bigger place again we were looking at one the other day but changed our minds.

Is that the show in Aston, PA on the 15th & 16TH ?

Also, Good Luck with the knee surgery. Take it easy afterwards, and don't push it. I've had five, it does get better.

Worked on my shelf layout today need one more board about 5' long and will have boards all the way around. need to mount track to boards next cut what pieces I need to as I put it together so probally put together completely then screw down. Want to put one more shelf up in front of my desk (have three levels so far counting one for layout) Want to put my standard gauge set on that shelf.

Kinda on the warm side tonight here it was in the low 70's today I would guess sup[ose to get to 74 tomorrow.

talk to you all later not much happening.

Good job RT, any pics?

laz57

Need a bridge here this is the area that still needs a board its going to be about a 5' span and the only thing (i hope it holds) holding is going to be 2  3" brackets with 4 screws in each at each end. may put 2 at each end on top also for extra suport.

as you can see the closet is still on the full side about half of the closet is now trains where it was all trains lol.

CSX - I had lost 70 pounds on WW, but after I had surgery I quit the diet and now I think I've put about half back on - still wearingg my "thinner" clothes, but getting tight again - need to get back on it and also start walking, or skating since we have all this ice coming.

RT - really looks like a neat idea and can't wait to see some pix of it running!

Sir James, we have some icecream, so come on over!  Better wear skates if you come too late!

RIP Chewy - best dog I ever had.

The hard part is keeping it off its not just a change in weight but a change in lifestyle and eating habbits I met someone who is doing optifast the 3rd time around because it works however if you do not learn portion sizes and stick to them it will come back. They have a support group/class every week which helps a lot.

I have noticed that young women(20's-30's) have been smiling and paying more attention to me lately a plus to the dietBig Smile [:D]

Doug - that woodland scenics foam, was it the big roll or the short pieces?  I wondered how that rolled stuff worked on curves, do you have to make a bunch of cuts to keep it flat?

Brutus,

I used the roll stuff and it worked great ith gluing the track, the first time I used screws for the track "Big Mistake". As far as the curves the first was on 031 and I had problems with them. I cut wedges out of the foam and glued it down to match the curves, unfortunately when I did this I think I forced them to fit the radius to much. Ended up with some of the foam buckling in the corners, didn't effect performance but looked a little tacky. When I changed out the corners to 042 I used a different approach. I cut a template that went from where the tubular track started, pin base, to the middle of the center tie. Essentially a trapazoid, with the center of the end lengths aligning with the center rails. A bit time consuming but I think the end results were well worth it. Hope I don't have everyone befuddled with this explanation. A splainer I ain't.

Evening ALL (only 1 or 2 still around at this time, Doug, Me, and maybe John Baker & Nick).  But anyway I posted some pictures as threatened last week-end.  I thought it would be better to put on a different thread, so as not to mess up the thread here.  So if you are so inclined they are on the thread "Threatened Pictures --- Reality"

Today was a good day, pretty much!

- Received the memory chip for the BB, that is surprising given that Chief got his today, as well.  Mine was sent first ....  NA NA NAW NA NA NAW

- Also received a train magazine in the mail, good reading tonight!

- The ONLY not so good news, is according to the place I got the BB from, I don't need to exprect receiving the Legacy system until AFTER Christmas !  Seems a bit unusual, since a number of other giz in Michigan received them last Thur..  Makes me wonder if "revenue" shipments are taking priority over "commited" shipments.  (I am refferring to the dealer, not Lionel).

- The BAD news is we lost one of the members of our train club today.  An email was sent to ALL our members that his wife would be selling his trains.  Unfortunately, I KNOW we have a couple of members that are speculators, and I'm sure they will be beating down the doors to take advantage of the situation.  Makes you think, What is going to happen to your own stuff ?  Sure hope Chris still has some interest then the problem is solved.

Hope everyone has a great day!  And enjoy the benefits of the season!  Going to go do some reading.

Kurt,
Glad it worked!  For the seams I usually just cut some trim solid wood and use that.  I know it isn't a smoot transition, but better than looking at a seam or worse, splinters.

Started laying out the Christmas Layout last night... not happy... I have to see how to print different views with RR-Track, things aren't lining up (I think RR-Track has wrong dimensions for the 22.5 degree crossing Banged Head [banghead]).  Guess tonight I'll start working on the framing and then I'll lay things out from there.  Looks like a nice plan, just not sure it will work the way I had hoped.

Good morning all,

It is rainy but warmer today with temps in the 50s in SE Indiana.  Worked on Christmas cards last night.  Most of them are addressed.  Yesterday was a good day at work.  I do not know much else.  I did get caught up on all the posts from the weekend.  I had just the usual fare on the dining car this morning.  I hope everyone has a good day.

Keep on training,

Morning all.  Another warm one.  Want to "do" pecan leaves today.  Tons of them and all the trees are finally bare [due to a cold Yankee wind the other night].  Blow them out so I can ride over them with the JD and haul them to the garden.  Later.

I have a few photos of what I've been working on that I'd love to share with you - I guess I should put them on the Sunday Photo thread even though it's Tues. Wink [;)]

Don, I'm sorry for the loss of your train club friend. I hope his widow gets some guidance in the days ahead.

Geno,

Bob Armstrong sent an email yesterday, indicating that Leo Randolph passed on Nov 23.  I was curious about him hadn't seen him at the club in a while.  But just figured it was due to holiday activities and such.

Me too, Kurt. Wink [;)] Very nice layout.

Here's a question of the day: Has anyone come across a #96 coal elevator? - the unpowered one - I think it was available just for a year or two pre-war.

That's quite sad- Leo was a nice guy, very friendly and loved to talk about trains as much as the rest of us. He will be missed. We did know that he was ill, I just didn't think we would pass on so soon.

Please pray for the Gross family.  Uncle Ziggy Gross, 97 passed away this am.  I saw him at a recent family wedding, he was 96, and said he was starting to feel old.  He was my Grandmother's brother, and took me to see the Cubs v Tigers games.

Thanks,

Kurt, was Ziggy from NC?  One of my buddies when working as fleet manager was a guy named Paul Gross.  Unusual name for NC.  Prayers.

Still foggy.  Sunny and 80?????  Think they blew that one.  Warm but no sun.  At Town Hall as leaves are damp.  Letters to type.

Later

PS: had to click twice at Town Hall to get this forum going.
