Evening to all.

Not much train related happening here.  I did put up the tree, string the lights,  and cooked dinner while the Mrs. took a snooze.  We had pork and sauerkraut cooked in the crock pot with some potatoes.  We will get the rest of the ornaments out of the attic and put hem up later in the week.  Only working a half day tomorrow.  I have a dentist appt. in the afternoon and then we are meeting a college buddy for dinner.

Take care,

Mitch

I have to make a dentist appointment - it's been a lonng time.

Well, I had fun ripping up the layout a bit more than I anticipated but it all works. I swapped wires to the transformers so the weird Thomas horns seem to work too.

I now have one main line around the perimeter (22 by 11 ft) which has a reconfigured siding and goes through the long tunnel on Mt Seaman. Then the second main line follows the first but runs in front of Mt. Seaman and connects to the yard loop-around with its three stub sidings. And the new third main line now follows the second except for it goes around the yard and in a half-circle around the main town then has its own now-extending siding opposite the one for the 1st main line. I still have a long loop of prewar O track for the trolleys. The youngest is getting better at running Percy with his freight, Thomas with his coaches and James pulling the Express. They all usually go around once, then stop in the front of the layout to 'talk'.

Night all. I'll clean the pot.

An early good morning from a grey and cold Crystal Lake where I hope to work more on the layout today - between a little real work, I'd like to experiment with moving some of the town and other stops around a bit. Maybe begin to add windmill blades to the old lighthouse I found in Hobby Lobby - Thomas needs his mill. Then I want to hook up this CW80 which at least looks beautiful and see how it works.

Good morning all,

It is cloudy, cold and rainy again in SE Indiana.  The weekend was interesting.  Saturday was wall to wall grandkids along with running trains at the museum.  The crowd at the museum was slow Saturday and started off slow Sunday, but it was picking up "steam" when I had to leave for Lucas' choir show.  The Christmas tree is up and decorated.  Ornaments are kind of thin on the tree as we will have five kids under the age of seven at our house for Christmas.  The Christmas letter is written as well, and our shopping is almost done.  I will be working on Christmas cards tonight.  Breakfast was the regular fare this morning.  I hope everyone has a good day.

Keep on training,

Mike C. from Indiana

Mike, when I was in that season, the tree seemed to be decorated starting around 4 feet up to the top. Everything lower was constantly rearranged. Wouldn't have wanted it any other way -- Wink [;)]

Ah, nothing like toy train ads on the radio - for local hobby stores - for a NAPA Auto Parts promotion; Sets in the Target toy section, at Macys, Linens and Things, etc. Smile [:)]

Morning.  Got up early.  Big bowl of GRITS.  Then did some train work.  HAd early model of a Dash 9 NS with TMCC and Sound but no cruise control.  Bad about rabbit starts and stops.  Wired the motors in series.  Wow.  Makes a big difference and yet keeps the top end speed fast enough to fly.  Off to Town Hall in few and then county Animal Control this afternoon.  Later

Argh. trains are running intermittently today. Have to trace all the wires. Look for shorts, etc.

Busy weekend and no time to post or catch up. Got the tree up and all the indoor holiday decorations. He-who-is-14 was of no help this time except to get the boxes out of the attic.

Chief - that SW issue of your must be a personal problem. No issues here - perf or otherwide. Mischief [:-,]

Well times are getting hard for sure one neighbor lost her house and now AEP delivered a note to anothers house may be nothing but they are barely making a living.  We already have 2 empty houses on the street. read in the Columbus dispatch that a lot of Ohio's big cities are losing not just jobs but also people are leaving for lack of jobs and unstable incomes. I am thankfull that I have a job and owe nothing on house and autos just insurance and taxes as long as I make enough to cover that I am doing good.

Hopeing to get Shrek the Third DVD, An american flyer DVD and hopefully no clothes as I am am losing weight and have a ton of stuff that I got to big for that will shortly fit again I hope.

Any one know of any free train displays around columbus this year?

Was over at my house late last night running some trains only one accident the marx 999 loco needs some cleaning as it was slow to start but after a few laps It keep increasing in speed till it flew off the tracks whats up with older locos changing speed as the xformer and motor get warmed up??? It happend when I was not at the controls to adjust it.

My bench work will be some what easy as I need to build 4 4x8 tables and then eleavate the inner loops. anyone have a suggestion on how to build sturdy bench work?

I hooked up the CW80 to the largest main line that runs the biggest power-sucking train. Works like a charm. I hear what sounds like a fan motor in it.. I took out the 2nd switch for each of the sidings on two main lines - I was stretching the 027 track too much - even with connectors, it was coming apart and that seems to be the cause of the intermittent running - though Thom still is moving 'jerkier' than I think is right.

Afternoon!

Jumijo:  What's this??? The Jumijo finally published????  Congratulations!  Nice grandkids!  Laugh [(-D]

Brent:  Big thumbs up on the 1/8" plywood idea.  Completed over the weekend!  I got into a rush as I was on a counter for number of projects needed to complete Saturday.  I wasn't paying close enough attention to the grain, and the butt joint doesn't match as well as I would hope.

Don't age him prematurely, Kurt - they're Jim's kids. Wink [;)]I think they're also in the photo thread. Just fixed the Christmas tree lights - my solution when a string goes out: unplug the old, plug in the new!

CSX, way to stay on the diet Bow [bow] - I would love to see the Cincy-Power-sponsored display in Cinncinatti - I know that's a ways from Columbus though.

Good afternoon everyone,

It was a long week. And sadly, the weekend went by too quickly.

The new washer came in, and I swear that it has so much more technology than my laptop. The thing is just unbelievable.

fife we got a new dryer, but we are waiting for it to be delivered. Lowes doesn't install gas dryers, so some other contractor is going to have to come out. Glad nothing happened to you, your family, or you house.

I'm really hoping this week goes fast. And same with the one after. My date for the ACL surgery is Dec 21st, the Friday before Christmas.

Also, I plan on going to a train show this weekend near the Philly airport. Should be a large show, from what I have heard. I will take plenty of pix of all they layouts.

Have a good evening everyone.

Evenin' boys.  Evenin' English.  Back on daywork, so PM chats for next two weeks.  Didn't get to work on the layout due to Christmas shopping, tree trimming, smoking dryers...Oh well, just a hobby, right?  BTW, new Kenmore 600 will have a moisture sensor, so even when the princesses crank it all the way up, when clothes are dry, it cuts off.Thumbs Up [tup]

tmcc/rt/cnw1995 - Thank you sirs.  Kinda knew the old girl was sickly, but it didn't come with a "CHECK ENGINE" light...

LAZ, got my chip today from Lionel.  Fife, is that dryer Winston, Salem or Camels? Shock [:O]Wink [;)]  Later.

PS: Brent, I put a lot of butter on those GRITS.  Should slide right through the computer.  Maybe the black pepper is the problem.

EVENING ALL,

One more engine to get BCR and gotem done. It's a PS2 so not as vital but I'll get it done.

Doug M's thread earlier reminded me of a tidbit of info that might help some, and maybe not..If you have a early release of Thomas, check the pickup roller assembly to make sure it is straight and tight. They can come loose and a little play will screw up it's performance. Later engines have a notch and screw so the assembly can't turn sideways.

CSXect- I have two CSX engines, a Lionel GE something from around 1995 and the K-line club engine that Lionel made. I stick with eastern roads except the good ole PW santa fe F3s. And a set of 8100s that I motored both units with one starting in reverse so they stay in sync.    Sir James

RT

Sure hope you put down some good sound deadener, if not the noise from the track to the wood will be deafening. Mine was til I fixed that by gluing down woodland scenics foam roadbed then hotmelt gluing the track to the foam. Now it is as quiet as a mouse.

It was raining still this morning, but just above freezing.  Warmed up a little, so no prob coming home.  Supposed to be the same, but maybe a little colder tomorrow.  By the end of the week, it should be dry and a little warmer.  I promised my friend John D that I'll come finish cutting some bricks for him this weekend, even if he's not there.  Will have 11 days off at Christmas, assuming that Congress passes a budget eventually.  If they don't get it done soon, we'll be on an unpaid vacation.  I hate those guys.

Sounds like you are making great progress RT!  CSX - I'm going back on my diet right after Christmas.  Should be easy if I'm off as I don't usually have a problem being good at home.

Doug - that woodland scenics foam, was it the big roll or the short pieces?  I wondered how that rolled stuff worked on curves, do you have to make a bunch of cuts to keep it flat?

RIP Chewy - best dog I ever had.

Just got back from the  weigh in, lost 8.2 lbs this week told doc I have been getting dizzy last few days...her responce was drink more clear fluids get up slowly and if that does not help drink a 1/2 cup of regular bulion the salt will help build up electrolytes sp? Total loss so far close to 40lbs.

Brutus be careful about going off a diet as sometimes it cause you to backslide a bit, did the weightwathers thing once and lost a total of 15 pounds it came back and then some but if it works for you keep it up they have some cool recipies my favorite was the sub(mini sub) and this pie that was made out of low sugar yogert and a matching flavor jello as sugar free it is awsome the best combo is key lime yogert and lime jello.

I think playing with 3 lionel trains and one marx train last night burned some fat as I was following the trains around the loops lots of fun.

compiling a list of stuff needed to build benchwork mostly connectors and hardware items.
