Thanks for the kind thoughts, guys!  Yeah Keith, I'm feeling a great deal better now.  Watched a bunch of 60's/70's vampire movies (Jean Rollin), an old Jess Franco movie (She Killed in Ecstasy with Soledad Miranda Tongue [:P]) and Die Schlangengrube und das Pendel (German dvd from Amazon.de - has an English soundtrack too, released here as Castle of the Walking Dead with Christopher Lee).  Nice to be able to watch whatever I want with the kids at school.  Groovie Ghoolies - I kinda sort remember this show!  They played music, like a band right?  I don't have that one, although I do have a lot of Scooby Doo dvds from the old 60's show.  The kids have some of the newer shows, but they are not as good - esp since they now run into real ghosts and monsters.  That just isn't right in a Scooby Doo cartoon - it should always be old man Eagles trying to scare kids away from his beaver sanctuary!

Meanwhile, I've been on the laptop working on rr tracks software.  I need to move some track just a little for my new sawmill.  I decided just to put the bunk car out on a single piece of straight track, maybe glue some "bushes" to the ends of the track to hide them.  I think I can run a feeder wire to it easily to operate the lights and smoke, except that the kids hate the smoke smell.  It might be hard on dvds/electronics anyway (?)

RIP Chewy - best dog I ever had.

Hello All!         Happy B-Day [bday]Happy B-Day [bday] Mitch!-  On Ebay there are two black 1688s/with tender's (separate sellers) & both are exactly the same version as yours. The first 1688/tender have their original boxes & are in very nice condition(LN) The second 1688/tender are in average condition with no boxes & have been around the Roundhouse a few times & have no boxes. Thought of you when I saw these on ebay as they were the last 1688s made before Lionel ceased production in 1942 & are not always easy to find especially with boxes & in fine condition like the first example above. Don B- Looks like you'll have a nice Train room & layout for your G Gauge Trains. Worth a visit for any Trainman to Cerritos,California.Wink [;)]Smile [:)] Jim F- hope you feel better soon- Just thought you might like to know I was in Best Buy the other day & if you remember a Saturday Morning Cartoon Show called the "Groovy Ghoulies" it is now on DVD & I was thinking. "I wonder if Jim F has this already" I had completly forgotten about this Cartoon until I saw it in front of me & remembered it as soon as I saw it. It has Character's that Look like Lily & Grandpa Munster & a Green Frankenstien & a Cartoon Wolfman also. Such Memories!Wink [;)]Smile [:)] Well, Take Care all.

My March issue of Classic Toy Trains arrived today at 4 p.m.

Looks like an interesting and beneficial issue. Nice cover except for a couple of homely old,gray-headed geeezers in a boat. Cover story and photos on how to make water? --by Kent Johnson. At first I thought it was a medical story on prostate challenged old geezers [including yours truly].

Back from NYC and the Grand Central Terminal MTA Museum Annex Lionel Layout (how's that for a mouthful?) diassembly, packing, and shipping back to Texas until next Christmas.

Took the F line subway over to Brooklyn Saturday to take a look around Trainworld/Trainland. Shelves were a bit bare I guess due to the holiday selling season. They have a big warehouse next door, but not much out to look at. Oh well - I will see them at York in April where thay have lots o' stuff to peruse.

Sunny and cold here - about 43 at 1:30 pm. Might rain a bit tonight or tomorrow. Keep it coming. One of our main water supply lakes has risen about 6 feet in the last two weeks (lake was 65% depleted last month). Only 10 more feet to go. Need about an inch of rain for each foot of lake level.

Happy B-Day [bday] - Mitch - Happy B-Day [bday]

Have a great afternoon all1

Afternoon all,

Looks more like a 22.5 degree crossing but then Doug's law still applies.

Don,

Weren't you doing O gauge originally?  Did you do a 180 and go LGB or is this a second layout?

Happy Birthay Mitch!

Jim...hope you're feeling better real soon.

So with that 45 degree cross, you won't be able to let either train operate on it's own, unless you remove a train completely, right?

Do you plan on doing any scenery on the shelf?  I'm always looking for new ways to do things.

Thanks,

Wes

Somewhat similar to what I am going through on my install.  How wide of a shelf are you going with?

The shelf width is 15", to accomodate two G Scale Ovals.  The large purple box in drawing below is a Bar, the Yellow Circles are Bar Stools, and the Purple Circle is a Pub Table.

(Bench top layout will be the area to the left of the bar, perimeter, peninsula, and lift bridge/gate)

Will have to address the "sunlight" issue, but fortunately the biggest concern will be reflected light off the pool.  I don't anticipate a big problem.

Yep, Robby Gordon is from this area, a park is named after him.  His family recently moved to Orange County,  Now living in Newport or Laguna Beach not sure.  Definetly like his attitude!!

dbaker48 - can we swim in your pool?  Got to admit, I have never seen a poolside layout (not including Garden Railroads).  I trust you have some good blinds for those big windows to avoid fading your scenery and rolling stock.

Morning all !!!  Great Job on the 1,000 post !!

Lots of good news for everyone......

Mitch's Birthday Happy B-Day [bday]

John's Cantanery System.....  WOW!!!  Definetly CTT material !!  Wonderful job!!!

Bears vs Colts,  Looking forward to that as well.

Spent the weekend preparing Train Room for Elevated tracks.

1st picture is the room :

2nd pictures is the elevated track plan:

3rd picture is a perspective of inside the room.  (Taken after construction, room is now carpeted, and mini-blinds are going in).  The elevated track is going to be above the windows, and parallel with the bottom edge of the sofet, (on the left).

It is probably difficult to see, but there are vinyl strips vertically on the wall where the sections are joined.  The wall material is a 4" foam with aluminum covering.  The trick is to find a place for mounting brackets etc..  So am installing a 10" wide ledger board all the way around the perimeter.  The ledger board has to be routed out for all those vinyl joints.  (Actually the vinyl is covering an extruded aluminum chanel).  Then will be able to mount the brackets on the ledger board.  Did some testing on some scrap wall sections and it really seems secure.  So will see what happens.

Have 1/2 of the ledger board done, will finish it today.  Then going to use some angle iron coming off the bottom edge of the soffet for the shelf on the left side.  All need to do their is finding the rafters and headers on that wall.

Hope everyone has a great day!

THANKS KEVIN FOR CLOSING THE DOOR !!!!  IT IS WARMING UP  GOING TOWARD 70 GRAT NEWS !!!

Good morning from a happy and cold Chicago where my commuter train was unexpected annulled this morning - due to 'equipment problems' - my conductor friends tell me that usually means the engineer didn't show up for work as the F40s are practically indestructible.

I will browse the street vendors later looking for more Bears gear. It was spookily quiet out during the game - no one on the roads at all (except me) - I heard an interesting stat during the game - 'Dome' teams are 0-10 in championship games.  "Bear down, Chicago Bears..."Laugh [(-D]

Hi Wes, Buckeye.

Found Stockport OH, Really is a small place. but has plenty of interest on a VG site. There are more people in the flats on the next street (720vs540 total). 136,000 here. Unfortunately our us of the web for demographic statistics is not up to yours. I note it is close to Connelsville which is a place I visit through the use of my TrainSim. Small world eh! Any of you guys got Google Earth? I use it extensively to find your locations (where given). Sometimes the photo's are out of date/focus(foggy), you will find me at SK39DH on the my search bar.

The snow kept me in yesterday, but me and Kodak are going out tonight.

Nick/Chief, Now that's how to give grits to the Yankees.
