Good evening all,

It was cloudy and cold in SE Indiana today with temps in the 30s.  Tmcc man, your dad is in my prayers.  I hope he gets better soon.  You are a good son and he should be proud of you as I think the rest of us are here on the "pot".  Yesterday was busy at work and today was quiet at home.  Got the housework done, went to the YMCA, and moved the cars and trucks around.  Ran the 318E for a little while.  Got the title transferred on the car for Lucas.  Lucas had his girlfriend over last night and she was over for a while tonight.  I hope everyone has a good day.

Keep on training,

Mike C. from Indiana

Colin - Praying that your Dad makes a quick recovery.

Not much activity  on the Coffee Pot since I left the house this morning, guess everyone's busy running trains.  I think I spent more time running the store layout (Memory Station) to show customers, young and old, what TMCC has to offer than I've run my own layout in the last two months.  I guess that's considered a perk.

Hi GIZ,

Well went to pet store to pick up Lizard litter(crushed walnuts as in CTT) and they had three sizes. 1 lb for 3.99 10 lb. for 6.99 or 50 lbs. for $20.  You guessed it got the 50 lber. Now I will take to school and spray paint light gray.

JELECTRIC, stopped at COOL TRAINS and talked to TED.  Nice GUY.  Your name came up and he had lots o nice things to say bout you.  I told him he was right on of all the complements.  Also told me of the big Feb. 10th train meet, he is having at his store.  Sounds like a good time.  I have to do some stuff in morning that day with wife but might be down in afternoon.  I bought an accessory pack of fire hydrants, mailboxes, and phonebooths from him today.

COLLIN, your DAD is in my prayers hope he can kick it.

Going to watch JAR HEAD on HBO now and run trains later.  It will be all diesels tonight.

Hope all are feeling better tonight who wasn't earlier and hope all had good trips today. Not to much happening this day finishing working on kitchen for CFO and start looking at my job ahead to get this room in shape for the train layout that will sooner or later be in here. plans now call for a 7' X 13' layout with 3" shelves around the walls of this 10' X 13' room to put the rest of my trains that aren't on the layout. Been tracking my Williams B&O ABA sharknose set it made it Thur chief land today as it was in Charlotte, N.C. this am but has left and is heading to VA. right now most likely Richmond or Norfolk area. Big Smile [:D] CFO says I need to take pics of all my trains and put them on CD . (just got done Xmas weekend repacking them all and inventorying them wish she would of said it then . ) Confused [%-)]Banged Head [banghead]  Oh well thats another weekend + job.

Afternoon all!

Been busy the last couple of days and no time to post or read what has been going on. Cooler here (50's) with some rain and then back to the 40's when this front comes through.

Colin - we pray your dad gets better soon.

The kids are gone all weekend for a church event Evil [}:)]

Have a great day all.

Good afternoon,

Colin, Your dad is in our prayers.

Don, Our prayers also for you and your son.  Glad to hear the electric came back on so soon.  We used to have a lot of power outages.  About 5 years ago I installed an emergency generator that we removed from a remodeling project.  It is 12 KW which will not run the whole house but keep us from freezing and the freezer from thawing.  The nice thing is that we haven't had a power failure since it was installed. Thumbs Up [tup]  I run it every couple of months to make sure it is ready to go.

Wes, I agree that workshop in the basement is not the best.  I moved mine from the basement to my son's barn (heated part) that works great and it is within walking distance.

Dennis, Has the train restriction been lifted. Big Smile [:D]

John, The cake was very good, had a big piece with ice cream.  MMMM good. Wink [;)]

Laz, I doubt if there is any left by, not much there when we left last night.

Do you think she liked it?

Good morning from a not-so-cold Crystal Lake where it's supposed to get sub-zero tomorrow for the next week - hope they're wrong. Funny how the body adjusts to thinking just about 32 degrees is warm. Spent the morning meeting with various men from church who are in tough places... Hope to figure out why the semaphore isn't working later today.

Don -may you get well soon!

Colin - I will pray for your dad too - my grandad had that - it was tough on him too.

Mornin' boys.

88 - heh, you said stiff...  By the way, headed up your way today.  Have a special delivery waiting for me at Catoctin (only 9 months behind; good thing we live longer these days...).  Mrs. fifedog will probably want lunch at Baughers.  Hopefully MARYLAND MIDLAND will run an extra for me.

tmcc - gotcha covered.  Docs just gotta find that leak.

Don't forget to post pics of it!

Well, it's not a good morning here. My mom came downstairs last night to tell me that she had to take my dad to the hospital. The reason is the same as it has always been. He has had this one illness for a while, and it is called diverticulitus (spelling?). He had many surgeries the past few years, and the last one was supposed to clear it up but I guess it didn't help for the long run.

Can you guys please say prayers for him. I remember when you all did during his last few surgeries, and it worked.

Thank you so much everyone. Have a good day.

Colin,
Will definitely say some prayers for your father.  My dad is a Crone's survivor and I know what he goes through and two of my friends have what your father has, living with it can sometimes be a very rough ride!

Good Morning from Blueberryhill....

It is 32 degrees. Warmed up a little. No new snow. Going up to 40 today with a chance of rain ( ?? ). Hope it doesn't freeze later.

Today we are driving up to the Cleveland area. Going to meet an old friend for lunch. Wife will visit with her older sister. Nice day planned. Hope to get back home by sundown. It's staying light, later as the year goes by. Come on Spring.

Tome to board the Dining car for early breakfast. Be back later.

Y'all have a great Saturday.

Morning everyone, I can't sleep so figured I would visit the Pot and wait till the rest of the crowd wakes up.  I am on call, so I hope  I can sleep sometime or we may have some rough cases to do.

Don, I will keep you and the family in my prayers for  a speedy recovery.  Good book says to pray about the small and the big, and we know it works.  As to the sanding, you may want to hold off till everyone is feeling better anyway as the lungs can take a hit from all the dust.

We have the train show starting at 9am so I am trying to think of anything to look for.  Right now, the only things I "need" are a Wabash engine to pull some passenger cars, figures and cars for scenery, and a TPC 400.   Of coarse I can always use some more power (can't we all).

Y'all have a great day and will check back later.

Dennis

Don - hope everyone is feeling better soon.  We have had a lot of power problems locally with the storms this year.  Luckily, we only lost power for a few hours, but my folks in Kirkwood have lost power for about 2.5 days this year (not all at once).  Brother lost power for about a day.  Sister in the area lost for about a day.  You really know who your friends are when the lights go off for days at a time - Several of my coworkers were out for a week in the Summer!  Hope it stays on at your house!

Kinda weird week around here!!

Sunday - Worked in train room laying out elevated train shelf requirments and determining material.  (Mounting shelf into aluminum covered foam walls.) Picked up all material at Lowes, 5 sheets of plywood, and they did all the cutting, no charge  12 cuts.  Cut and routed ledger boards to fit the walls, completed half of them.

Monday - Came down with a sifnificant cold, symptoms grew worse all day long.  However, had previous plans on finishing the routing and preparing the ledger boards.

Tuesday - Chris (son) home sick with flu, my cold worse.  Did nothing all day either of us.

Wednesday - Same as Tuesday

Thursday - Same as Wednesday, I feel a little better, not much - no energy

Friday - Feeling pretty good, Chris still home.  Dr says he's grounded until Sat or Sun.  Wife still doesn't want me to go to work, reluctantly agree.  Decide I will paint the ledger boards and track shelves.  7:20 am, all power goes off.  Wife goes to work, I manage to get some instant coffee, and decide to paint.   Boards of course need sanding.  Wow 5 sheets of plywood to sand by hand???  Got halfway through and enough of that.  Power still off.

Edison company status reports no service expected to be restored until Sat at 10am !!!

Break out the flashlights, and camping lights, check out my portable generator and all set for the evening in the dark.  Make arrangements for Chris and wife to stay at In-Laws because of how he is feeling, and no heat here.

5:00 getting dark, AND THEN THE LIGHTS COME BACK ON !!!

What a relief.

You sure don't realize how dependent we are on electricity until it is not there.

Since New Years, I have been running a few trains now and then and consulting the forum of course.  Weather here is sunny lately, but still too cool for me to get into my other passion, fishing.  My son is applying to law schools and hoping he can start this fall.  The catalog fest on the forum was fun to read.  Got a train show here on Super Bowl Sunday and I am going to try to sell some 027 cars and locos.  It wraps up at 3 PM in time to go home and watch the game.  Time to bed down.

Many electronic circuit boards in consumer type equipment are pretty flimsy these days and prone to cracking. They don't need to be subjected to any tremendous force for this to happen. Pretty common with digital cameras. Good thing for the warrantee!!!

Good evening from balmy 37 degree Toledo!!! It realy does feel pretty warm right now!

Chief  What are you going to do with all of that money you wrung out of Buckeye??? That's a neat miniature missle. In Toledo we have the Teledyne plant, they made the first cruise missle turbine engine for the Navy's Harpoon program. They also make gas turbine engines for various manned and unmanned military aircraft like jet airplanes, jet trainers, remotely piloted vehicles, unmanned aerial vehicles (UAVs), aerial target systems, and missiles!!! So us Nawtherners know a bit about missles too!!! Tongue [:P]

Evening all.  One of Pam's good friends and hubby had birthdays this week.  Went to Outback with them and then to see The Last King Of Scotland.  Up early tomorrow and drive east.  Going by Mom's and then to a visitation at funeral home [another one of Pam's good friend's MIL passed].  Going by Mom's as funeral home is only 10 miles from her house.  Rush back so Pam can attend a 2 PM play in Raleigh.  Hope to go to Todd's and then back to do some "work".

Later.
