1500GMT in a mild +9 Stockport,
Sorry to hear so much bad and sad news. I hope you all get up Monday feeling OK, and the problems have diminished.
Been off line a few days , ERNI was having an upgrade, new 1024mb of memory, new 'Sound blaster' audio card, 19" monitor and various tweaks to try and clear the mess Norton and Windows Defender have made of TrainSim. I now have to re-load the lot something approaching 50gb. Is there any truth in the rumour about MS cooking up a new version of Train Sim?
Hope Lionel arrives this week, I fancy getting down to some wood butchery! My memory of balsa in model aircraft construction was that it had to be cut with a razor blade, and we used styrene glue to hold the bits together. I understand Xacto produce all the appropriate tools for today's modeller.

Remember a while back when I was looking for an Atlas SD40 in the B&O blue? I found it on the website. Scroll down. It is powered and unpowered, and the pic shows up in the unpowered box.

Thanks, John
Spreading??? Is he using grits for ballast now too???
Laz,
I think he does live in Maryland. Maybe some other people can help us out? I remember seeing his layout both here and the other forum.
Good Morning All from NE Ohio
Where the temp is 28 deg with just a dusting of snow over night.
I didn't trun on the computor this morning, as others were starting the Sunday Photo thread. Guss, I will have to get up earlier next week.
Chief - I have the Epson CX5400 and love it. IT is now several years old and the cost of ink almost cost as much as new printer with ink. Does that printer also scan?
John - It was great seeing you again. We miss not seeing you at the museum or OTTS meeting!
Chuck - glad you made the train show and Parma Hobbies. Did you konw they have a web site? http://www.parmahobby.com/
Is summer coming soon?

It could be? Does he live in MARYLAND?
Laz, I would bid on that, if I had the money. Trains included, that is a great deal. I love the CSX GP30.
Well, I am feeling better today. My mom went to see my dad, so I am on house duty.
I hope everyone has a good day.
Hi GIZ,
Nice and warm here at 32 this morning. Going to run about 8 miles today seems like a good day to run outside, nice and slow of course.
GIZ, check this out that I found on Ebay last nite. If I had and extra 3 Gs I'd bid, I think its a great deal?

Good morning everyone. Sitting here with a cup of coffee watching snow come down in Central OH. Unless we get 3 feet or so, I'm not interested. Just going to hang out with the kids today and watch a couple of movies. Got a bad cold, possibly sinus infection I'm nursing. Anyway...it looks like from the pix on other threads that people are taking advantage of the winter to get lots of work done. My permanent layout is still in the planning stages, at least until my other hobby is reasonably under control (restoring my old car). That is gonna be this winter and next, and then I'll be able to do more than carpet layouts.
Take care all and stay warm if it's cold where you are.
Dwayne.

As of yesterday only the Lionel store pre-copy has come in, nothing on K-Line. We hope to get a shipment of catalogues this week, I don't work again till Thurs.. All the mailing lables for regular customers are made up and just waiting for the cats. He's already has a pretty good list of pre-orders based on the store copy and the Lionel website copy.

Today is a busy day. Have to catch up from being gone yesterday. I had a great day. Dropped in on an old favorite Hobby shop and then, had enough time to stop at the Train Show in Parma. Sorry I missed Tom. I was able to get a few items to finish my layout work. Now, to get busy and finish it. Nice seeing you again, John ( csxt30 ).
I will be taking a few pictures, this coming week. Will post a few.
Time for breakfast in the Dining Car. Young waitress. Later.
Y'all have a great Sunday.

Went by my nearest LHS and picked up some balsa wood and an exacto saw with a miter box. Just 45 and 90 degrees, so will have to alter it a little in the workshop though, or make a screw in jig for myself. I just think my regular tools would rip this stuff up too much - but will experiment. No Lionel or K-Line catalogs have come in yet, though
Did get to run my train for about an hour and a half tonight and figuring out some stuff for wiring it better. I need to get some track clips or something to keep the track from pulling apart. I had it screwed down to just the foam underlayment before, but pulled all the screws to put on some white flannel for Christmas.... Anyway, the kids are sleeping at friends' house, so TTFN!
RIP Chewy - best dog I ever had.

I have quite an elaborate benchwork going on 3 levels. The wiring is in progress and I have it so that the upper loops are separate and will not need TMCC, only the main level and I will have 4 loops with connecting turnouts. This should allow me to do plenty of switching when I want to.Dennis

HEY GIZ,
Big diesel nite tonite. Had the Lionel U33 in BN running a load of freight. and the NS doing a coal load. Also was a rs11 picking up beer and aGP9 hauling logs. All ran good no problems.
All have a good nite.
Hi all,
Prayers for health and healing for those in need. Had class today, talk about brain saturation! Good day and safe trip. Youngest daughter in from Cincy, always love having her home. She bought me a set of cookie cutters in the shape of a steamer, gondola and caboose!
May start refurbing the 752 seaboard coaler we'll see. I may take pics of the project along the way.
Good night all
Jim
Good evening everyone. Colin, prayer alread went up for your Dad.
Was a busy day, after not having slept for more than 3 hours last night, got the family up and made breakfast, headed to the Train Show. It was mentioned earlier that the thing about train shows, "Costs $5 to get in, $400 to get out" well, I beat that, got out for about $300.00. Bought a bunch of MTH premier cars for $25/each, some scenery items, trucks, planes, people, and a switch tower. I was pretty well set and then I saw a table of a dealer that had just about all HO/N and then on one side, had a few Weaver 2-rail cars. Behind the Weaver cars, was a Lionel Reading Alco A-A set. I asked the guy about it and it is a DC Dual motor set with figure and NIB for $80. Needles to say, I got it. As I was tallying up the items from the show, my bride gives me a sweet smile (that is when you know you are in trouble) and she says, "Happy Valentines Day", and I think I want another $700.00 table for the living room
So John, no, I am not really off train restriction, but I do have to be somewhat wise with my purchases. Should I get another great Deal, like what you clued me into, I would still do it. I also sent off the MO for my "Watchman's Shanty" from the bay.
Anyway, before I ramble more, have a good night and I am heading to the sleeper car.

It's a balmy 39 degrees today!!! Supposed to be in the 20s the rest of the week. Oh well, they're wrong about most of their predictions.
Greetings,
Got a call from Chief, regarding the printer. I can't take credit, Epson did all the work, I just told him where to find it. Glad he likes it, it is the best printer I've ever seen.
Kurt and Reggie, Doug knows what he speaks of!! My in-laws bought a car this past fall and want to give the one they had to Chris. I said no last summer, want him to have to pay for a car. So he is buying the El Camino, (still in the shop, being repainted) anyway their old car has been here since October! I'm loosing the battle.
Went on ebay today and won (?) one item I was bidding on, and bought an item I didn't plan on. I bid on some AristoCraft G scale track for the elevated shelf, 24' for $50 seems pretty good. Typically sells for about $7 to $9 per foot. Then I was looking at items that were going off soon, and especially those that had NO bids. So looking at an animated sign I ended up pushing the wrong button and did a Buy It Now!! Well, I certainly don't want negative fedback, so I checked out the Ebay Store for this supplier. And in order to defray the shipping cost ordered some scale newpaper stands, trash cans, and another electronic sign. After all I had a feedback rating of 100% positive, based upon both of my previous transactions.
Doug, You think the hot glue will work, eh? I will be interested! I plan on using some carpet padding as an insulator, then the track on that. Hadn't decided if I was going to screw it down or what. Maybe a combination of both screw and hot glue. Minimizing the screws.
Hope all have a great evening and good day tomorrow.
Don
Evenin' All !
First off CONGRATS on the younguns to Kurt and Reggie. A word of warning, now you have to watch out for "Parental Revenge". That's when the grandparents spoil the you know out of them and send them home. It normally won't rear it's head until they hit the toddler stage. Now of course I wouldn't spoil my ONE and ONLY grandchild but my wife his really bad.
Finishing up replacing the 031 corners on the ceiling track with 042. What a pain in the that turned out to be. The foam roadbed and track are down but the track isn't tied down yet. Ran a test without the screws to hold it down and it is absolutely whisper quiet, the only thing you hear with the sound turned off is the loco wheels going over the tube track joints. Instead of screws I think I'll try hot melt glue. On the curve sections I replaced I used carpet tape to secure the foam, seems to hold real good although to take some stress off I did make a few kerf cuts on the foam.
Evening all. Hope all get well soon [Don, Colin's Dad and any others]. Busy day. Took defective switch to Miss Edna's. They took the back off [wanted them as warranty]. Found two pins real close and that was where the voltage was getting on the frog and causing arcing. Also the control rail on the siding side was not positioned right and was grounding out. Fixed both things and works well. They had another one someone had brought in as it would throw the wrong way when a train hit the anti-derailing [it was automatic derailing ]. Used mine switch to trace the wires. Was wired in reverse. Fixed it and I got it at a nice discount as they did not want to put it out for sale [said it was used]. Reinstalled switch and tested layout. Had pin problem , took it out, got pins mated and reinstalled. All fine now.
Moved computer table [had to take it apart as so heavy and big] from Alison's old room and swaped it out for my little one. Installed new printer. This is important: you want a top quality printer and print photos from CD, chip or computer. Better get this Epson R340. Limited numbers left. $69 and free shipping. No joke. Printed a photo from computer on regular white paper. Looks outstanding. Thanks Don Baker for the tip.
Dinner time for me. No meal today but only snacks. Later
