SNOW?????? We might get some Thursday AM. Then freezing rain turning to rain as it is suppose to warm. We'll see. Busy afternoon for me. Was watching movie and went to sleep. Just woke up. Good old recliner. Got Dr's apt middle of the day.
Want to hear a story [and the news will not print it]. Tobacco allotment and farmer payments are due from USDA [paid in by Tobacco Companies] the first two weeks in Jan each year. None been paid yet. USDA claims their computer system is "messed" up. They claim they have been working on it for 4 weeks to get it corrected. I know that they are in the red in their budget. Well, billions of dollars suppose to be paid out to the former allotment holders and farmers is sitting in DC. Think of the interest being made from this [and being lost to the farmer community]. Now tell me the CROOKS aren't helping get their budget in the black with the interest. They will not be paying us the interest. Think I will hold my IRS payment and tell them my computer system is screwed up and I will pay them when I get it straight and pay them no interest. YOU BET!!!

Congratulations Reggie and Mrs Reggie! You'll catch up on sleep eventually - it's well worth it, man. Also, good luck on the job!
Also, good luck Brent! Man, that will be one huge layout!
Finally got my W2's so did the taxes. Turbotax used to include a free filing and a rebate on the state - not any more! Including the software, I'm out about $50. Not TOO bad, but I was expecting the usual deal from years past. Got my Weetabix delivery truck from Corgi from ebay, seller in England. The vehicle cost about $2, but with delivery it was like 13! Oh well - as soon as I knew they existed, I HAD to have one! Thanks to Daan for featuring them in a pic from his layout
RIP Chewy - best dog I ever had.
A chilly 15 in NW Ohio and we actually got some snow??? Supposed to get up to a balmy 30 on Thursday!!!!!~

Good afternoon,
Congratulations Reggie!!!
Got a box via UPS this afternoon, 2 Tropicana reefers, an REA reefer and a CP stock car, all scale size Lionel.
Spent the morning wiring a new coffee maker for the church.
Tomorrow I start volunteer work at the TCA museum. Hope I can take working a full day, haven't done that for quite a while.
Jim, Did the Chief change over to G gauge and not let us know?
Cold and windy here again today, snow flurries a little while ago, guess I need to go upstairs and see what is happening.
Dewey- Aggravation by great patients like you are what we nurses live for! Makes our day so much brighter!
Thought maybe you had got caught up in the high hills in the snow! Love watching the Web- cams from that area to see what's going on. Been pretty cold up there! My son was working in Meadows of Dan yesterday - 4 degrees yesterday morning- warmed up to 19 by 4pm. I'm dreading the predicted bad weather. But hey - my part-time non-patient care job will just do without me if there's ice. Never missed a day in 27 yrs. at the hospital due to weather - even being 25 miles away.
My husband has a shop full of old Craftsman power tools he got when he worked at that Sears. All still working fine! Great stuff! Finally made him dust it off and make my train tables.
Can't wait for the pics of Reggie's new arrival!
Have a good one y'all!
Lisa
Congratulations Reggie & wife!!!
Glad everyone is doing well.
Congratulations Reggie!
It will take awhile for you two to get into a rythm...be patient...especially with each other. After the first week it's much easier!

Just let me tell you all... I have been on the phone since 7:00 am! 6 friggin hours of phone calls!1. Bank wants to know our geneological history - asked if a DNA sample would also be required (no response on this question). 2. Ran my credit report - scores are great! - seem ex-wife has reopened a joint account and now my address is wrong and I have a new account on my report that I can not access as the company can't find my SSN in the system (they also have no idea how the account is showing on my report since my SSN is not in the system) - I told them I could reprogram their system for them - hourly rate is $250.00 per hour - no response on that offer. So now I have to see if I can get the account information some other way! Maybe a call to a lawyer is in order? 3. We can save money by switching our local/long distance phone carrier, cell phone, DSL, and Cable to Verizon/DirecTV and having them all on one bill! - Yearly savings over $500.00 and we don't have to spend money on stamps since we can pay online! Savings on postage $18.72 4. I CAN NOT save money on my car insurance by switching to Geico! Oh, and my renters haven't called to cut-off their gas or electric so I can schedule the cutover to avoid service interruption! HELLO CAN YOU SAY TELEPHONE!!!! Geez!!!!
It sounds like you are a very happy papa! Enjoy every day that you can be with her because they grow up so fast. Good luck with the career too!

BRENT, CONGA on getting the house.
Hope the bank comes through?

CONGA, REGGIE,
Better get her a GIRLS SET?
CONGRATS REGGIE
Afternoon all. Been online booking all my hotel rooms for the season. Then printed out the confrimations. Takes a while. Now lunch and wash clothes for the wife. Sometimes she does NOT understand "retirement". Then go to train room. Might make a haul to the container site with lots of rolling stock boxes. Chat later.
Reggie Congratulations! My prayers for you your wife daughter Naijah and family on this blessing. The prayer will really kick in in about 15 years.
Lionroar, congrats on the deal with the new house. I'm moved a lot of people, but I've never moved myself as I live in the house I grew up in. 51 years of junk to go though if I did move.
Real cold here and windy, roads were real slick with a lot of folks sliding around. Mass transit would be a great thing!
I dug out the 752 Seaboard Coaler and she still works great. I'm leaning tward a complete teardown and repaint. The metal is all straight, it has a lot of scrapes and a little rust but still looks pretty good as is, kind of "realistic rusty". In between projects, and projects keep me sane between work and school.
Chief your layout is really looking great. Time spent planning is paying off it looks like.
Later folks
Jim

Lionroar.....
I have helped sell six houses as an adult and more while growing up. When I sell a house I pack up EVERYTHING....not just the trains. I pack away all nicknaks and put all bathroom items in a basket and stash it under the sink everymorning. Same for kitchen stuff. Clear counters are a must! Folks want to pretend in their mind that no one ever lived there (even though they know you did). They want to "see" places in your house for their stuff to go. There is a show called "Sell this house" that is good for ideas.
I know the above is un-asked for advice, but we want to see that huge layout going up soon!
Good luck on the house sale. It is a pain!!!!!!!!!!!, but any efforts to move the house faster will be well spent.

Morning all!
Reggie - congrats! Welcome to the ranks of the sleepless! Glad all went well for your wife.
Cold and cloudy here. Maybe 42 today.
Waiting for the foundation engineer to arrive and do a survey on our sagging foundation. Same guy that we used when we bought the house in '95. Hopefully he has the "knack!"
Have a great day all!
Regards, Roy
Congratulations Reggie and Family!!! May God Bless each of you. I remember those days and hope I never forget how wonderful it is to hold your new born child and just be still. As the others have said, sleep while you can and *** feeding is the best (lets us dads sleep while mom takes care of things). We will keep you in our prayers.

K-line sets come with black wire ties holding the stuff in the box. They are perfect for this purpose.
Great News Reggie! Congrats and well wishes! And congrats on the contract - does that mean we all get front row seats to the home opener? Weather Update - 19 degrees this morning... SNOW this afternoon! House Update:1. Offer accepted by the seller, now waiting for the bank to accept the offer (has to be accepted by the bank since this is a short sell due to pending foreclosure).2. Realtor was out last night to 'inspect' the house so we can get it on the market.3. Nothing needs to be done to the house except, my wife has to box up her papers in the study (she has all her PhD research strewn all over the study floor), and the train layout has to be removed from the basement floor! .Should hear whether this is a 'go' or 'no-go' from the bank by noon... 75% chance of a 'go'... don't fully understand all this, because the bank and seller supposedly agreed to the selling price a month ago... guess it is more a formality than anything...But I get to run the trains through Friday night! Then I have to wrap them up nice and tight, put them in their boxes and tuck them in till we move. Closing is slated for 3/15/2007 - two days before my B-Day, so it looks like moving day will be either the day before or the day of my B-Day!We are supposed to be going to the house on Saturday to take pictures, measurements (wife wants to buy curtains and stuff - NO TRAINS!!! I couldn't figure this one out! ), etc. I'll post exact dimensions of the train room with some pics to give you all an idea of what I'm up against...
Congratulations Reggie !! Glad all is well with the family !! You may experience a little lack of sleep down the road now !! But it's a good experience !!
Thanks, John
Congratulations on your daughter's arrival, Reggie!!! (Bengal colors)
While it is true, you will be deprived of sleep for a short while, it does go by fast. Learn to sleep when the baby sleeps is my best advice. My little girl used to sleep on my chest when she was just an infant. I wouldn't trade those memories for anything! Love her, teach her, nurture her, and most of all - spoil her! People can say what they want, but to a dad, the love of his life is always his daughter!
