John,
That's more like a "Snow Dwarf" We could probably do that here, I thought you guys got some snow ??? LOL
Don
HI GIZ,
OFF from school today,YEA!! We got about 10 inches up here and still is snowing. I snowblowed the ladies in the neighborhood today did 4 driveways and got brownie points from my principal. Took dog for a mile walk, was like walking in sand. The temp up here in Millersburg only got to 23 so most was snow and sleet. Had to run on treadmill this after only did four miles. I am betting with these strong winds that school is going to be cancelled tomorrow. So that means running trains tonite.
Later.

For all you guys in the great white north, I heard on the radio today that Al Gore's movie about "global warming" was supposed to be shown at some college up that way.....They had to cancel it due to snow
Jim, glad to hear Julia is on the mend.
Chief, we are heading to Macon next week for a meeting, then, we are going to Valdosta Georgia where they have a big amusement park that has "snow Days" where they set up snow making machines so the kids can see what snow looks like/feels like. The snow may stay for a little while as it is supposed to go down to the 50's.
Not much happening in this neck of the woods, I am on call and we have a few critical patients that require a bit of tuning up. I do hope to get some train work done, but must do the Valentines day thing. Already took care of the gift, cards, etc. Was going to make a nice dinner, but did not like the quality of the meat and Salmon at the store. Would rather go out than make a bad meal.
Y'all take care and stay warm.

Why on EARTH would you push snow up to 4 feet deep into someone's driveway? Least he could have done was come back and offer to push it into the grass for $5.00...Grrrr...and no trains to run...I need a new house!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!Jim - glad to hear Julia is doing better.Hope Elliot gets good news...Wonder if Laz is frozen in?John, You backyard looks just like mine! Except we have a 30 foot hill in our backyard that the neighborhood kids use as a tobbogan run... more like a bobsled run today!Well I have to get a shower... taking the wife out for V-Day dinner since I couldn't get to the store to get filet... wonder what happened to her flowers...
Brent, At least they plowed your street. The road in front my house is just two ruts in what is now foozen solid ice/snow. We live along a State road that is priority #1001.
The wind was too cold so I let the kids stay inside while I chipped and chopped and cussed the driveway mostly clean. It's making me nuts that I couldn't get it all, but the tracks where my wife drove were really solid. I've got some Excel 50 melting it for me right now. I got to meet the neighbors' new puppy - 3 month old white terrier named Duff. I used to work for a guy named Dan Duff! Anyway, Chewy was not too happy when I came inside - I guess she could smell my infidelity? She's moping on top of the couch right now.
My son has a doctor appt and then I think we're all going out to eat. I want to stop at radio shack and buy some of the connectors Roy talked about too, then pick up some more Excel 50 for the weekend.
John B - how's your train set coming? Where's Thor?
Kurt - I think I'll finally get a snowblower next year. I recently read that the earths orbit is currently at the "roundest" part of the cyle and will begin moving out into a bigger and bigger elipse again, so more snow and colder temps. Apparntly things have been pretty stable for about 7 years and going to shift. Something about solar radiation as well. Makes as much sense as anything I've read on the subject.
RIP Chewy - best dog I ever had.

I bought a snowblower last year, in December...no snow after I got it home...
You really need one of these things....I can do our drive, and two other neighbors in about an hour. Our drives are about the same size...and still come back in the house and not not be completely useless for the rest of the day.

It's about the same here, the sun is out & I'm waiting for a guy to plow my driveway. Got about 3 feet or more from snow plows going by, at the apron !!
Spring is on the way !!
Thanks, John

John B, I rather go to Manchester than London any day. Been working at a Hospital in central London just across the river from big ben. Just driving in is a battle and the £8 congestion charge. In fact after droping the gear off on site the first day we travelled in on the tube from our hotel rather than drive in. And your right about the beer!

Another youngster that doesn't know the snow plow six-pack beer trick.
During the blizzard of 1978, (5-10 drifts in the city) I discovered a city equipment operator cleaning his relatives driveway with a city owned front end loader. After he and I had a brief discussion that involved alleged photographs of his kindness to his relative, he cleaned the whole street for me and my neighbors. Wasn't that kind of him?

I went to a PRR museum website today and there was a caption for a photo that said something like "We are closed today, we have to deal with some snow."
Count me in for St. Thomas, It's been about 20 years and my wife would jump at the chance to go again.
Now for all you Sotherners here is what it looks like in PA today.
Back yard pictures. The pond is pretty well hidden between the low bushes and the greenhouse.
The birds are making good use of the feeders.
During the night the snow changed to sleet/freezing rain and midmorning it changed back to snow. The temps went form 16 about 2:00 AM to 32 early morning to 30 at noon. Crazy weather. Since my snow blower is not working, I am waiting for the grandsons to help out with tractor and shovels.
While it was sleeting and or raining this morning the 13 year old helped me install a couple sections of double track catenary.
Staying inside here.

It cost me $100 for each year we had been married but WELL WORTH it. The ships horn was blasting as we were running down the pier to get back on, great memories.Jon
We stopped there on a Cruise to. My wife and I got married on the ship. Know what you mean about the shops though, could be a expensive trip Won't be any problems getting the wifes or girlfriends to sign up though I found a great bar, I needed a drink after picking up the bill at the shops LOL. Did not want to leave.
Jon
So many roads, so little time.
Chief, As for a alternate location. Lets go with a warm dry venue for a possible CTT convention. How about St. Thomas I know a good bar......
Had some great news today...Garage & Gamesroom has passed full planning permision! The layout gets a step nearer.

I like that Scale Williams FA1! I might have to consider getting one!

Glad to hear everyone is doing better! Our weather has cooled off a bit, only in the mid 60's, suppose to be nicer this week-end. Be glad to see winter over soon, to when nicer days prevail.
Finished painting the old train room, it is now an Exercise room. Now to put the machines back together, son's weight machine, wifes eleptical machine, my computer station. Kind of unusual color for a home gym. Peach, I think it looks pink. But that was what she wanted, and we had about 3 gallons left over in a 5 gallon bucket from when we had the family room painted. One huge step closer to having no conflicting priorites with working in the train room. Just got to get the dinning room, living room and hallway done. She wants to have it done, I would prefer to do it my self and save the money. Only issue is the staircase. Maybe I can rent a scaffold from Lowes or home depot.
Going to train club tonight, Chris is doing some work there on some curtains. His agility and light weight makes him the perfect candidate. Nedd to pick up some safety googles and keep in the car, he always gets involved with cutting stuff with a jig saw and they don't have any glasses there.
Have a great day all and stay warm.
Good Morning from Buckeyeland, where The Ohio State University is closed.
If you are waiting on a new Honda, guess what, you are going to wait at least one day longer. The giant Honda plant is also closed.
As I write this, the sun is shinning, but the wind is blowing the snow.
Jim, glad to hear that Julia is doing better. A sick child is always a concern. Even a sick adult child is a concern.
Colin, has there been a prognosis for your Grandpop?
Chief, how can you type after surgery on your hand? Oh! I forgot, the barefoot method.
Happy Valentines Day from a frozen Chicago where it is sunny and 4 degrees. We're all at work and in school -- unlike you wimps further east. What's a little snow - only 6 inches or so...
I'd like to go back to London - a CTT Forum convention is a great idea - or to visit Nick and John at a local: the bride and I went there on our honeymoon in '89. I got an early Valentines Day gift from Lionel - a K-Line catalog in the mail! I love looking at a real catalog instead of the ones online. I hope to also visit some hobby stores closer to the city on Friday under the guise of driving to to a vendor's office.Roy, that Robin photo is one from Burt Ward I found online. Jim F., I have that Bachmann HO Hogwart's train too - or rather I, uh, got it for my son. Did you see the preview photos of the Lionel one?
Doug Murphy 'We few, we happy few, we band of brothers...' Henry V.
Morning all!
Busy day today. Cold at 33 and maybe some snohizo.
Chief - will you be coming out Dallas way again this spring for new BPS opening in Garland I think?
Have a great day all!
Roy
Regards, Roy

Thanks Jim !! I love to play with my camera !! Sure enjoyed your job you did on your 752 coal loader, too !! Tell us how it's working !!
Morning All,
Its is snowing on top of ice that came down yesterday. Roads very slick. Wife got called in to work as some nurses could not make it in.
Jim - Glad Julia feeling better.
Chief - How's the hand
Elliot -Still praying for you
Colin - What did you hear from your Grandpop
Thanks for the kudos on the coaler. I posted more pics on a seperate thread.
I'm off till Friday and start dayshift, got to play yesterday and need to work on papers for class. Check in later
Morning all. Jim F is more excited about school being closed than the kids. Mickey as I think this is your first Coffee Pot visit [so many new my senior mind may have missed it]. Check out my reply to your post on Weaver hoppers. You got accidently mislead. Well, suppose to shampoo the carpets in down stairs. Raining right now. Better get rolling and also pack for Orlando and back to work tomorrow. Once I'm back in the grove, I'll like it. Will miss working on the RR. Jimbo, sure glad Julia is doing better. Still think she should have gone to the hospital the other day. You are a better Dr. than the Doctors. You turned her around with the liquids. No playing in the snow for the rest of the year.
Guess the "English" don't want us to have a CTT meeting in the UK. They did not suggest an alternate location to London.
Now to wish all the Yanks a white out and lots of snow.
