Dennis, it's open until 5pm Saturday.  Lots of memoribilia.  I enjoy going (1 of 2 or 3 shows every year here).

It's 30ish now going up to a warm 53.  Looks like I'll be working inside until noon.

Talks to my LHS and he's helping me build a nice 12X6 layout I found on ogaugerr.com (thanks, guys!).  We're going to modify it slightly and see what happens.  TIme to buy more lumber!!!

Stay warm & safe y'all, prayers to all who need 'em

Don,

I understood the good natured humorous jab from the get go.  I wouldn't let the fact that it might have upset some overly sensative loyalists stop you from posting your opinions.  What other way is there for those of us waiting on severely delayed pre-orders to vent and still sound like we're in control of our emotions?

Chief's example is great for enlightening us on just how serious the whole pre-order situation is becoming.  While his case is no laughing matter, until the manufactures start making timely deliveries or reconfigure their advance promotion of new products then I guess they'll just have to put up with our jokes.

I think I just stepped in it with you! Wink [;)]

Good morning all,

It is sunny and cold again in SE Indiana with temps rising to the teens again today.  We are supposed to get another dusting of GRITS (er, I mean snow) this weekend.  As far as ideas for the "special" cars mentioned earlier, we could have a special one made to honor all the illustrious Hoosiers, such as John Dillinger, Dan Quayle, and James Dean!?!?!  Of course, they could make my favorites, the "Cheap Classics" based on the old Scout set cars.  I think Brianel would go for that as long as they had BNSF, CSX, NS, KCS, CP, CN, or UP logos on them :-)  We could have a "soccer" car for all the footy fans (as John Bakeer likes to express it).

We watched a tape of "Lost" last night.  Lucas had a church meeting with his friends.  I went to the YMCA for the first time in three days.  We had the regular fare for breakfast this morning and sent the dining car to "Points East".  I hope everyone has a good day.

Keep on training,

Mike C. from Indiana

Good Morning from Blueberryhill....

It is a cold, but sunny 14 degrees. Going up to 22 today with , maybe, a few snow flurries.

Today, we have to drive back to Cambridge on business, for a few hours. Later I plan on taking it easy and running  trains for awhile. Got my Williams Platinum Club car yesterday. I renewed my membership and got a nice reefer. Great graphics.  I plan to work on the layout tomorrow. I'd like to get this new section running.

The Dining Car has arrived and is ready for breakfast. Later.

Y'all have a great Thursday.

Chuck

Its Memory Wtation in Watkinsville where I work and no I'll be watching the store while the boss is in Jacksonville pedling the wares.  It'll be a long two days, Fri. & Sat., open at 9 close at 7.  Working at the store will also keep me from going to York this year since he'll also be going there while I tend the store.

Good morning from a chilly New England!

It is expected to warm into the mid 30's tomorrow. A regular heat wave!

I ran trains last night for a bit, then painted a tunnel portal for the Chief. One down one to go!

Other than that, I got nuthin.

Well... After reading all the cautions on the website (nothing in the box that this came in) about cooking fatty foods in you fireplace, and how it was never intended to be cooked in, and the burned fat will stick to your fireplace walls and flue.  I decided to keep the grill anyway, and reserve it for steaks.

I didn't get the fire hot enough, but I managed to get the steaks rare, as we like them...

It's hard to cook in the fireplace..kneeling down, and no light..but it's a great conversation piece.

I ended up picking up the chunk hickory..WOW what a difference the wood makes in the flavor!  We are planning to get a kettle grill for the yard.  Now I'm on the hook for a complete fireplace dinner for my Wife's birthday.

John, glad Dinner turned out great!  We do a weekly dinner with friends as well and divi up the cooking.

Good morning from a frigid Gettysburg. It is 12 degrees with temps to go up to the mid 20's.

Schools are 2 hours late today and closed Monday and Tuesday, so or kids will only have been in school a day and part of a day in over a week.  Makes for good learning conditionsSigh [sigh].

Tomorrow the Mrs. and I have tickets to see Wicked in Baltimore.  Should be a great show.  Everyone I have talked to that has seen it raves about it.

Well, I better get going.

Take care,

Mitch

I heard on the radio they had fuel trucks loaded with gas and diesel and they were trying to get it to people on the highway, some who had been stuck in place overnight!!!!  I sure hope it's been cleared up by now?!

Dougdagrump, thanks for the info!  I am still watching that set - decisions decisions!  Doug or John, Will it run on O27 track?  I know it has a loop of reatrax, but I already have an O27 layout going right now.

Chief - I guess weneed to call Kevin and ask him to shut that door!  It's the coldest of the year so far here in the St. Louis area.

Evening to all.  Today was the third day of no students.  Ice is really bad on parking lots and sidewalks.  Schools and offices were closed yesterday.  Not sure if they will get schools open tomorrow.  Back roads are really nasty still.

LAZ - hope they get 78 and 81 re-opened.  Looks like quite a mess on the TV.

I had not run trains in two weeks or more.  Turned on the space heater when I got home today and went out to the train room after dinner. Ran trains for a good while.  No pile ups,  only one minor derailment.  I  have a couple of gondolas that will derail when being pulled across one switch behind the Willams GP 9.  Doesn't happen when running in the other direction or with other locomotives.

Glad to see that Chief's surgery seems to be healing OK and Julia is doing better.

Take care,

Mitch

Mornin' All.

Jim F, A few pages back you asked about the AT&SF ten wheeler set and all I can say it is one SWEET little engine. I still haven't tried DCS with it but even running in conventional it is great, especially the cruise. A few weeks ago I had it at the club layout running up and down from upper to lower levels and back again without having to touch the controller, 2% grade. It was hauling the three Overton coaches and the Presidential Overton. Sound is more than adequate and the smoke system is great, I run the smoke at about half power and that is more than sufficient. Good smoke not a lot of fluid blowing onto the loco and you don't get asphyxiated. Size wise they are probably closer to 027 than say scale or semi-scale. I am so happy with it that I just wish I could afford their scale 4-4-0's, in B&O livery of course.

Approve [^]  Thumbs Up [tup]

Later all, it's refill the coffee cup time.....

Doug,

I have the PRR version of the 10 wheeler and I agree.  It is one of my engines that never leaves the layout.  Great runner and smoker.  I picked up the MTH Premier H-3 Consolidation, from the 1890s, on ebay and that is another nice engine.  The only complaint on that one is that the engine sounds are a little to soft.  Whistle sounds like a PRR steamer (yes I have heard them) and it also smokes very well.  I pull the three coaches, to which I have added passengers,  with the 10 wheeler & a small train of hoppers with the H-3.

BTW the cornish hens came out great as did the rest of dinner, wife is happy and that's what counts.  Thought I had some box stuffing and discovered I didn't so had to improvise.  She thought it was the best part of the meal.  Sometimes you win one. Smile [:)]
