Doug,

My Dad has a set of locomotive horns on his F250 and he installed a compressor under the rear seats.  That sure can move some traffic.  Has also been the ruin of some underwear tooWink [;)]  Anyway, have a great day,

Mornin' All.

Been awhile since posting, hope all the rugrats as well as the adults are getting well. Looks as though you are going to get a little break in the snow, except for lake effect in N.Y. Big Smile [:D]

I was surfing around last nite and found some stuff at Stout Auctions that would certainly be of interest to the trolley fans. Lots of bells and such, I'd love to have a compressor on my truck that could handle the requirements because they also had some single & multiple chime horns. Mischief [:-,]

Jim F, A few pages back you asked about the AT&SF ten wheeler set and all I can say it is one SWEET little engine. I still haven't tried DCS with it but even running in conventional it is great, especially the cruise. A few weeks ago I had it at the club layout running up and down from upper to lower levels and back again without having to touch the controller, 2% grade. It was hauling the three Overton coaches and the Presidential Overton. Sound is more than adequate and the smoke system is great, I run the smoke at about half power and that is more than sufficient. Good smoke not a lot of fluid blowing onto the loco and you don't get asphyxiated. Size wise they are probably closer to 027 than say scale or semi-scale. I am so happy with it that I just wish I could afford their scale 4-4-0's, in B&O livery of course.

Approve [^]  Thumbs Up [tup]

John, Cornish Hens sound great...

Sounds like a lot of us are also into cooking...or at least eating.

I got my early birthday present today, a grill for the fireplace.

We're having fatty ribeyes we couldn't serve to company...I'm going to try it over oak with some applewood chips...that's all we have.  I'll get some chunk hickory when I can.

I'll let you know how things turn out.

John Baaker,

Thanks, I am looking forward to the photos.  I was not able to see the ones you posted today here, but hopefully if they go to my email....we will see.  I am at the hospital, so perhaps the firewall stops them.

John, my wife makes great cornish hens.....stuffed with a apricot brandy stuffing.  Tasts great!

Chief, have a safe trip.  I know you will be busy at the Orlando BPS, but don't overdo it.

Got a bit cooler today, had to wear my jacket this morning, it was in the 30's, but going to about 60 later.

Had an interesting presentation this afternoon.  Medtronic...(for those with pacemakers, you know the name), came by with a large tractor trailer with the sides of the trailer opening up like a new RV.  The presentation was good, but boy the two plasma screen TVs with the Bose surround system made me wish to borrow this unit for some tailgate parties at SEC games or Nascar.  Then I was thinking of the size layout I could put in that thing.  Not bad, a multi million dollar mobile home for a train layout....but they wouldn't let me take it.Disapprove [V]

Anyway, thoughts and prayers for those in need and Blessings to everyone.

Dennis

Greetings All,

Glad the storm is passed, as I understand.  Interesting Valentines evening.  Wednesday, typically wife goes to Weight Watchers and out to dinner with her Mother.  Chris and I eat fast food and go to train club.

So yesterday being Valentines Day checked with wife, Yep going to WW, Chris wanted to go to club because he was going to reposition some curtains around layout.  OK.  Went to leave, wife not going anywhere staying home, huh?   Got about 5 miles, and I asked Chris to call and ask her if she wanted to go with us, she answered YES.  Total surprise.

So we went back home and got her, she really seemed to enjoy the evening.  Got the curtains up and I played with the trains.  Ran a BEEP lash-up!  Totally unreal.  (Both BEEPS I had upgraded with TMCC, they did really well!)  Then ran our Cotton Belts and a Shay, so I had a total of 4 engines running at the same time.  Wasn't hardly anyone there had the whole layout to myself.  Then went home and put on a movie that you guys had been talking about.  The Emperor of the North, with Lee Marvin and Earnest Borgnine.  I had never heard of that movie before, it was very unusual and different.  Really enjoyed it.

Good morning from frigid central PA.

Went out to the greenhouse this morning to checkon the seadlings & seeds.  Using artificial light as the sun has not been out much.  They are doing OK, but slow.

Pond frozen over except for a spot at the heater and another where the water fall hits the pond.  Birds love that running ice water!

Hope to get a little more catenary done today.  Can't run trains on the main while the construction crew is at work.

Tonight is my night to make dinner.  Cornish hens, rice and a veggie of some kind, have to check the freezer, with salad and mixed fruit.

Till later,

Morning all,

Cold and sunny with lots of ice!  Great Valentine's Day.  Homemade Chili!  Wheew!  Wife was very pleased with my gift to her; it was a sit up statue representing John 12:3.  My wife gave me the OK to get gauges for my truck, EGT, boost and trans temp.  Since we pull a camper a lot, driving  a diesel without monitoring these parameters can get you in trouble in a hurry.

I placed the coaler I refinished on the layout last night, at 5 x 10 3/4 it tkes up a lot of realestate.  I'm thinking I may run both coalers off one control button, using a diverting switch on the base.  I'll experiment today between study.

I forget who asked, but the car is Ertl Collectable stock # 20656P fromTysToys, 262-514-2994, it has happy holidays on the trunk lid, but I'm going to remove the stencil with finger nail polish.

So glad folks are on the mend, keep us up dated on those who we're praying for.

Stay warm

Good Morning from Blueberryhill....

It is a cold, sunny " 0 " degrees outside. Going up to only 21 today. Hope the sun stays out all day.

Today is grocery shopping day. I will drive to Cambridge and spend some money on food. Nasty job. Prices keep creeping up. Maybe later, I'll get a chance to run trains to relax. Finally starting to see the end of the tunnel on the layout. Lots of work.

Dining Car is ready for breakfast. Be back later.

Y'all have a great Thursday.

Wes,
Sorry to hear about your son.  Hope he gets better soon!

They plowed out street yesterday - twice - we now have a great representation of an Olympic Bobsled Run!

You know rednecks really are fun to watch!  These two guys were riding there 4 wheelers up and down the road last night... towing kids on plastic sleds!  They were doing real good up until the cop down the street told them to stop or face a fine... child endangerment!

Our typical 3 lane road is not 1.5 lanes wide... makes it real interesting when the guy with the monster truck desides to take it out for a spin!

It's cold.  The display in my car read -6 on my way to work.  Then there is the wind chill.

I haven't been at work much this week due to the weather, and my son getting brochiolitis.  He's much better now.  To top it off, I have a dentist appointment today, so I'm leaving at 11am.  I am going to stop by the LHS and pick up some more MTH track, if I can find any.  I know one that had some two weeks ago.  I don't know if MTH has fixed the dealer stock issues yet, or not.  I don't need much yet.

I didn't build anything this week.  I was afraid that if something bad happened in the shop, I wouldn't be able to get out and go to the emergency room.  They finally plowed our street last night.

Have a good one!

Valentines Day was nothing short of a bust!

Wife didn't get her flowers because she couldn't get to work.

No dinner because I couldn't get to the butcher.

So we took a drive to see her father, had lasagna with him... not too bad in the overall scheme of things.

No word on the house.  Hopefully today...

Chief, have a safe trip into FL...

Good morning all,

It is cold in SE Indiana with temps climbing to the teens today.  At least the roads were clear.  I watched a little bit of "Lost" before turning in.  Not much more to report since the last post.  I hope everyone has a good day.

Keep on training,

Morning.  Ready to go to airport and fly out to Orlando.  Will be a Bass Pro Shops until Sunday afternoon.  Flying back a little earlier than usual.  Not the usual almost midnight thing.  Man what weather.  Was rainy and then turned sunny and warm.  By night fall, windy and COLD.  Have a good day.  God bless.

Today is a big day in Buckeyeland.  Yes, today is the day when the average high temperature for this date has now risen to 40 degrees, however, the actual temperature is something like 39 degrees less than the average.   Wind-chills are hanging around -10 degrees this morning.

Since I had meetings last night, the Valentine's Day Dinner at White Castle was postponed until tonight.  I can smell those Sliders already, or was that the cat passing gas? Confused [%-)]

With the low temperatures, the house is creaking.  Snow and ice are falling off the roof spooking the cat.  Maybe that would explain the smells, too!

There is a posting on CTT about Weaver products.  I think this is one company that needs to increase their awareness to the O gauge buyer.  I know of only one LHS that I can walk into today and see any Weaver products.

Good morning from a snowy New England!

I baled out of here yesterday at 11:00 and was glad I did. The roads were aweful and it was sleeting out. I'd say we ended up with 6" of snow here. Back to normal today? Julia seems better but is still not eating much. I got her to eat a PBJ last night though.

We had a romantic fire going in the den and my wife visited me in the train room for a while. A nice Valentine's Day surprise. Chinese food for dinner was great!

Have a nice day, all. And sincere thanks to all of you for your prayers for Julia.

This is a try at pasting into the coffee pot, and it worked. Next is an attempt to get pics. Heaven knows what I'll get up to when I really get the hang of it?

+12 here in a damp extremely mild Stockport. Not progressing much what with V day and taking beloved to Leek market, business was bad had to bring her home (your right she doesn't read this, thinks I'm potty).

Where is Lomas? Trouble is I am not able to fly at the moment, so I'll settle for the British LCC in Ilkley Yorkshire (gods county).

The Olympics are already 1,200million quid over budget and they haven't put a spade in the earth yet! My Lionel is still within budget, perhaps because I just haven't got stuck into the job

Yet.

Construction

Dennis, I should have the first pub pics. ready today.

Every one else, get well soon if you're poorly, keep digging if you're snowbound, get you're wires sorted if you're working on the layout and you all keep on training.

New computer up and running with a flat screen.  I sure is easier to read the screen. Big Smile [:D] One email address is running.

What a great winter storm!  When it comes to developing toughness, a good butt kicking blizzard puts man and machine to the test.  A few weeks from now we will be ducking for cover to escape the great tornadoes that will fire up with the thunderstorms.   Of course, the floods will kick in while the ground is still frozen, washing out bridges and roads, especially in Eastern Ohio near Blueberry Hill.

I sure hope I can get out and take some railroading in the snow photos.

Kids are sad - have to go back to school tomorrow.  Me too!  Watched a dvd of Bye Bye Birdie - hadn't seen it since I was a kid!  Didn't go out to eat, since everything was so crowded, so I just made spaghetti.  Picked up 80 pounds of calcium chloride for the driveway - should last a few storms.  Also, I got two of those "euro" style 12 connection terminal strips.  I used them to hook up the wiring for my switches to the controllers and everything worked great - thanks Roy!  Chief, take it easy on that hand.  Hope Julia is continuing to improve and all you guys had great Valentines.

RIP Chewy - best dog I ever had.

Good evening all,

It was sunny and cold today in SE Indiana with temps in the teens.  I stayed home again today as the roads were not plowed when I got up.  A lot of people from work stayed home as well.  Lucas and I went out and shoveled snow off the sidewalks.  He had to go to work, and I ran the MTH 384E tonight for a couple of hours while the wife watched an "Anne of Green Gables" tape.  It was a nice day.  I checked the main roads out this afternoon and everything looks clear to drive in tomorrow.  I hope everyone has a good day.

Well, didn't exactly have the "romantic" valentines dinner I had hoped.  By the time I left the hospital and got home, then turned around to head to the restaurant, the place was packed.  Went to two more places and the same thing.  We ended up going to Waffle House and having dinner, including GRITS of course.  Nuthin says I LUV YOU like GRITS.  We plan to do a proper dinner Saturday.

Dennis

PS: Chief, if you go to "The Train-Station.com" on top of the auction site, they have  a link to a layout that they are doing.  Lots of similar ideas to yours, you may be able to get some other insights.  It is a nice looking layout, as is yours.

Evening all!

Well, I'll keep my day job...while that storm wasn't exactly as they'd predicted it did dump about 6".  So much for my bypassing snowstorm prediction.  I'm ready for St. Thomas...or even the inside of a pub in Manchester.

Got bid out on the Philco Predicta this afternoon.  There certainly must have been some info on the reserve exchanged between the seller and the new owner prior to the auction ending.  My final bid of $300 ( with the reserve not met) got sniped by the winner to $750 (reserve met) within the last 20 seconds.  Crazy money for a 1958 B&W TV, eh?  Oh well, money better spent on train stuff anyway.   How's that for sour grapes? Wink [;)]

Been fiddling with an MTH tri-colour track signal with 2 signal boards.  The instructions are neatly tucked inside the box, tucked neatly inside a storage bin, tucked neatly up in the attic.  So I'm wiring by ear.  Did figure out that this thing has an internal automatic signal switch from yellow to green.  A pretty slick item when wired between 3 blocks of track.  Am I correct in assuming the top board indicates the signal for the straight through portion while the bottom board is for the diverging portion of the turnout?

Keep you stick on the ice!
