STUR FISH, no my BROTHER uses me for a dog and I use him. If we had a dog it could of went into corn after the birds. All we did was walk along sides of the corn and try to talk em up. Sometimes this works.
Going to suck up leaves today then aerate lawn, Then reseed and put down winterizer.
All B safe.

GOOD MORNING ALL
51 and sunny, but we had lite frost this am. At the moment no plans except to watch the Lions and that usually puts me to sleep by half time. I watched the buckeyes go crazy last nite, boy that stadium is loud. No train news at the present so I guess I will meander....Sir James

Evening all
It has been pretty quiet at work. I did get some homework done. I'm going to take a new-hire out to see what he learned today and then start getting things ready to turn over to the next shift.
Jim F.-The screws are a square drive (Robertson type) head. They have a flat base and are either course or fine thread and fairly stout, (#8). The special part is the drill bit that is a step bit with the pilot and countersink in one bit. The jig provides a specific angle and placement of the hole for the screw.
Chief-Enjoy!!!!
Laz- Always wanted to try hunting pheasants but we have no pheasants in Southern Ohio. I've been told the clay soil keeps them away. Never went pheasant hunting but took many a turn being a rabbit dog. Thank God for Carharts! You would come out of the multiflora looking like you've been in a cat fight.
May God bless
Jim
Here's the campfire I started building yesterday. Almost done. Just need to hide the edges a little better. Maybe I'll paint the logs so that they look charred. It's powered by a battery-operated flickering light, so I can place it any where I want to, whenever I want to.

Jim, I have a buddy from just across the river in WV and an avid hunter. When he told me he had never seen a pheasant in the wild, I couldn't believe him. As a kid in Northern Indiana, I would many times see pheasants as I walked from the school bus stop to our house. Pheasants are all over the north part of Ohio, Indiana, Illinois and Iowa.
The big raid to Charlotte was uneventful. I can't believe they serve sweet tea for breakfast. The leaves were still grean in Charlotte and all the locals were delighted I brought the rain with me.
Took the wife down to the hills to see the fall colors today. Nothing spectacular, but still colorful. Lots of cabins tucked into the hills.

Jumijo, that looks good with the hobo jungle.
how did you make it(part # for light/led)
Chief,
I have been listening to a bluegrass station through the net the last few days, lots of Ky and Wv roots in the columbus area we even have a bluegrass shop on Highstreet(route 23), have been going to a church 3rd friday of the month for a bluegrass jam/dinner for a year or two now the music good and food is free
Well, I tracked down and shot 6 trains with my Canon by noon. They were all of Chief's favorite "short line". Stayed around B&O's 172 year old Thomas Viaduct the better part of the morning. Pretty weather but the leaves still haven't changed around here. They're either just falling off green, or simply turning right to brown.
Buckeye - Was it a successful raid? Any prisoners? Any grits?
BTW, anyone else notice a "raid" of sorts on the CTT board today?

Jim, you sure are pround of your house in MA. You have posted it in two places. Remember, I've been there so I recognized it right off.
Ran the Santa Fe F3's and 6 passenger cars. I had been running five and suddenly realized I still had one in storage. Got it out and felt sorry for it so I ran them a little more. Ran the 2065 some more too. Took them into the back and out came the NS diesels. Ran them a while.
Town meeting at lunch followed by County Animal Control Taskforce followed by passport applications being done at main PO in Raleigh followed by visit to Toyato dearlership to test drive and look at the new 4 Runner. Enough!!.
Later [cherry cobbler and vanilla ice cream]

fifedog, it was pretty quiet in the South. A Virginian mistakenly bought me a beer and a Southern Belle asked me to move to North Carolina.
The breakfast buffet had grits in a big pan. When I was about done with my breakfast, I noticed that a maintenance guy was at the grits pan dipping them out and into a big bucket. Later I saw him using the grits to clean the urinals in the hotel.
If you were shooting your Canon near the Thomas Viaduct, were you near the Potomac, south of Harper's Ferry?
Sucked up leaves and cut grass at the same time. Then ran aerater over grass, reseeded, and in about 2 weeks put on winterizer.
STUR FISH, to bad about the pheasants, they are a blast to hunt. When I retire in 4 more years want to save up and go out to South Dakota to hunt them out there. They have 11 million birds(state bird) and only about 900,000 people. Suppose to be great. Saw it on the outdoor channel and literally 100 birds get up at a time. Real cool stuff. Wonder if they have an outdoor fireplace out there with OLD MILWAKEE after the hunt?
BUCKEYE, good job on the raid of the NS, keep dat GRITS stuff out of DA NORTH.
Ran trains for about an hour, NO PILEUPS, all is good wit da world.
Cleared up a big mess in the basement - took out 4 big blag bags of trash (cut off wires, wood, boxes etc). Buddy John stopped over for a few minutes and we set up the table just before dinner time. Running too late to work on the layout per se, but got a lot done really with the benchwork. Need to make a little side tray for the transformer though.
Had some poor boy sandwich for dinner and then some Karmel Sutra icecream. Watching a great sci fi flick with the kids - The Last Starfighter. Scheduled off Thursday and Friday, so only have a 3 day week!
Chief, hope you're not full of cobbler, 'cause I was saving you some pie! Got some for Sir James (if he's not out howling at the moon!), John S and everybody else that wants a bite - c'mon down! Goes great with coffee!
fifedog wrote:Buckeye - Nope, the Patapsco, south-west of Baltimore.(Milepost 7) Incredible how the Masons from two centuries ago constructed such an incredible bridge (when horses pulled railcars), that today carries a double track mainline.
fifedog, those stone masons had one goal; to make sure the bridge did not wash away during a flood. By making it storm proof, they gave us a bridge that could carry incredibly heavy loads. Have you ever seen any "marks" on the stones made by the master masons?
That was me howling, thanks to that chewy curse. the wife let me out to potty and that darn wire fence was cooold.
I was reading the thread about the HW-X not running on 031 and did not want to change the subject there, but have any of you noticed how the catalog prices are hard to find? Oh they are there but I have to look all over the page to find them. Wonder why they can't make it easier to find, like with a highlite or the same place on every page. Just a thought. Sir James
OOOOwwwwwoooooooo! Watch out, Sir James - don't get naughty and bite your wife! Got Key Lime Pie, Stawberry, and NY Cheesecake - yummy! Just give Chewy some peanut butter, no ice cream or M&M's!
Sounds like everyone had a great day. I'm tired, worked all day in anticipation of the big return. They are in Laughlin and WILL be here tomorrow!
Going to bed,
