Just got a call from Grand Luxe Train Tours. Their Washington-Miami and vice-versa trips planned for late December have all been canceled due to low reservation numbers!! There goes the anniversary trip Madge and I had planned, so now its back to the drawing board. Thinking about going to the Big Apple for a few days.

The December issue of Trains magazine arrived today. My letter starts at the bottom of page six and continues across the gutter on page seven. Letter title is MORE THAN TRAIN SERVICE.
Evening folks,
Brutus help-There's a bright full moon, am I going to grow hair again or was it a one time thing.
Sturgeon jim- a very nice A/F buy. I would have bought that deal and I don't run flyer except once in a while on the floor.
One of those goofy things today. My horse coral was shorted so I started the routine of elimi nation. turns out the coil wire touched the metal coil frame when the door was closed and then burned in half.I didn't notice at first because it looked like the grounded side of the coil. repaired and working, now if I could get the horses to actually climb the ramp that would be nice. SPLAIN THIS!!!! Went into Raleigh by Captial Blvd [one of the main entrances to the downtown area]. CSX runs on the right and then crosses with NS runs on the other side. All lines are on a hill above everything. 8 NS engines and 1 CN MU'd to the back of them all coupled to a train. Never seen that many engines together. Now since some of the "smart" Yankees will say it takes that many NS engines to pull a train, lets get that out of the way. I guessed they were towing engines to some location. Sure were a lot of stallions in a line.
Still misting rain. Pond still rising. More hard rain forecasted for tomorrow. Please. Later.

sir james,
Use some fine sandpaper to give the ramp a bit of tooth. My corral had the same problem, and the sandpaper helped it work better. Also make sure the area the corral sits on is level.

Chief : true, Dark Side don't have any power !! No, when you see a lot of engines like that, it's cause they run more trains in one direction than the other, so then they group them all up on a train & send them back where they originated, possibly. They do here that way. There are a lot more trains going west than east up here. Also the CNN engine may have been making its way back up here to GE for warranty work & there could even have been other engines, from the dark side, going to GE also.
Thanks, John

Good news on the test, Sir James! God bless her. I always have icecream, but usually it is weightwatchers anyway, so I will always keep a little treat for you and John too! Sometimes it's Ben & Jerry's though - can't take the healthy eating thing too far!
Worked another hour tonight. Trying to get some $$$ ahead because we've got some insurance, property taxes and other junk coming up soon - right on top of Christmas. Don't you just love it - what perfect timing.
Oh, also TRAINZ shipped my Hogwarts Express! Can't wait - it's my birthday present!
RIP Chewy - best dog I ever had.
jimtrumpie- thanks for the tip, I've tried most everything I could think of including roughing up the ramp, another suggestion was to raise the base about a 1/4 inch, that helped slightly, tried cattle with the cloth feet, about the only thing that will run those horses through is to line up about a dozen of them and they push each other through the car. Of course you have to keep them standing up. they were never know to be a good operating acess. I have another one in the PW773 set, never took it out of the set box. not worth the trouble.
Brutus- everything in moderation, a little ice cream ,a little of what you like ,I don't believe is harmful, It's when we jump in whole hog, thats the problem. glad your HW X is coming, I my not get one for a long time.waited to see it first and the preorder list was 2 1/2 pages long. He has received his first shipment. Sir James
Sir James (again - sorry, just catching up to all the posts) -- Things could get Hairy!!! Better watch out!!! Be sure to not eat any chocolate if you find yourself baying at the moon! Chewy was sick as a DOG! Can laugh about it now!
RT - God bless you too, man! What an ordeal! I sure hope yours is a-okay and if not they can go in and fix that without
Jim - some great stuff you got there! Thanks for the pic!
Jumijo - With the Hogwarts in the mail, I don't think I'll be getting Thomas at least for a little while!
hmmm - for a minute there thought I was gonna read about how a CSX was helping some NS find their way home!?!? I'll bet John S would get a kick out of that picture!
Doug M - liked the blog and will visit again from time to time. All caught up on October now anyway!
CSXect - Pizzeria UNO is pretty great, esp in Chicago. Or go across the street to Pizzeria DUE. I had a t-shirt from there, but I wore it out over the years. We eat a lot of Dominoes, Pizza Hut, Pappa John's PIzza, and another local place called Bertonnollis (sp?).
Rich - sounds like a lot of fun, have a great trip!
HI GIZ,
Prayers to you RT hope all goes well.
Beat BRO at GOLF shot a nice 45 for nine holes not bad on a damp nite. Cheesesteaks sandwich and beers were great.
Hope all is well?

Good evening,
Just back from another short trip, this time by bus. Read a little of the last two pages. RT, good luck on your defib. I had read the article about those leads. It sure took them long enough to discover that they had a problem! Been so busy here that most of my York purchases are still in the shopping bag.
Take care,
Wow lots going on !
RT - Hope things work out RT!!! Remember health is the first priority, other issues second.
Sir James - Glad the wife is doing well, hope you will to soon! Maybe some dog treats might sooth the stomach.
Chief - Grits, we may need them soon. Did you know there are over 12 Ways to fix Life cereal?
Fire Update - The worst is all over! Finally, now by Monday we may have blue skies again. The sky here in our area is brown, from all the smoke. Will continue because of the Santiago Fire in Orange County, smoke heading west, over ocean. Thank gosh its over!!! Hope life gets back to normal for Misty, her family, and Doug soon. (Too close for Doug). We are now having ash fall-out, things will look as if it we had snow fluries.
My travelers ar now in Oklahoma, they made 464 miles today !! That's a lot for them !!!!
Welcome back John !
Have a great day tomorrow, all !!
Don
Morning!
WOW!
RT: Prayers for you buddy.
Sir James: Glad things went well...but now what? I bet I'd flunk one of those stress tests too. We'll be praying for you.
DougNutinGrumpy, Don & Misty: Glad you're all safe....well that remains to be seen with Don...
Brutus: I see Fisher-Price has added Brutus to their offerings. Dubbed "This GeoTrax team are the biggest bullies in town!"
In other news...I watched National Geographic Build it Bigger yesterday, and the Arizona Cardinals grass field moves in and out of the stadium on train tracks.

Morning Folks,
A fresh pot is on the burner. Still rainy and damp here, but I'll take it. Starting to feel like fall.
LAZ - surpised you and your bro could get in nine yesterday with the damp weather.
DonB, Doug and Misty - here's hoping for clear skies or rain. No more smoke.
Fife - hope you are on the mend. Hope they figure out what is happening with you Fifey.
Colin - glad to hear the knee is improving. Hope they figure out what's up with the choking/esophagus issue.
Have a great day.

Good morning from a overcast and rainy Buckeyeland.
Today is the day for the great raid to North Carolina. I can't wait to meet all of the great peace officers the Chief has rounded up for my welcoming committee.
rt - you take care of yourself. Do exactly as ordered by your doctor.
Sir James - it sounds like your wife received good news if I am reading your post correctly.
fifedog - how do you get yourself into these situations? I thought you were mended as well as could be expected.
Colin - you're too young to wear out, but if you want to follow in my footsteps; the steel pins in my leg seemed to have worked really good for the last 40 years. I only feel them when it is real cold. (Yes, I was an experimental surgery.)
Glad to hear that the gang living on the left coast have seen the worst of the fires. Our news is reporting that the head of California's Forest Fire Service had some rule that a plane could not be used without a fire spotter on board. The planes from the Navy, Guard, etc. were ready and waiting, but because of this requirement sat on the ground while houses burned.
CSX John - We many times see more locomotives heading south and your explanation makes sense. Hauling coal out of WV to points north takes more horsepower than taking the empties back.
Let's see for today, haircut, bank, pack, clean litter box and fly to Charlotte. Another boring day.

Sorry Fife: I thought I was all caught up...Prayers for you too... Hhhmmm...I thought the problem was at the base of your neck...
Get yourself a lawyer, Fifey! You won't regret it!
No Thomas photos today as Jim has told me he won't be buying one. But I think Dougie is pretty certain to get one, seeing as he had an N scale version. Jim, please give us a review of the HE when you get it. If I wasn't on double secret train restriction, I'd have ordered one. Although I am giving serious thought to selling some of my post war train$, and old, collectible Corgi Batmobile$.

Good morning all,
It is cloudy and slightly warmer in SE Indiana today. Lucas brought home a report card that matched our expectations. If he can maintain these grades for the semester, that would be great, but he has a history of tailing off as time goes by. Maybe his concern about college will motivate him. Good luck, Buckeye, on your southern invasion. It was just the usual fare on the dining car today. I hope everyone has a good day.
Keep on training,
Mike C. from Indiana
Sometimes auto accident injuries and associated pain don't become evident for a few days. That happened to me once. Hope you're ok, Fifey. But the mental image of you in tighty whiteys is too much for me to take. I just may go blind!

MORNING ALL,
A fall day,50s and slow rain showers, lots of leaves.I just wait for a dry day and run over them with the lawn mower. A very good train running day. also need to think about what to take to train show on the 4th. I was thinking while writing this, that for the size of this group of regulars, we seem to have a lot of ailments. It's got to be the age thing. Not counting accidents of course. And we have those folks too. Everyone have a great Friday. Sir James
