Hey, cool, but there is too much hair on top I think?!
Girls are out scouting already and have to take son to swim practice pretty soon. Poptarts were in the Dining car, but I think I got the last one!
RIP Chewy - best dog I ever had.
Good morning all,
I just finished the overnite threads and I think covering the furniture with dirty clothes to keep from dusting is a great idea. In my 68 years I never thought of that.

For those of you who haven't seen or read the article on Rod Stewart's layout in Model Railroader, you don't know what you're missing. It is without a doubt, the finest looking layout I've ever seen. And the best part about it is that he did all the modeling himself. Realistic isn't a strong enough adjective to describe the layout. Ultra-realistic might come close.
We've been running post war trains this afternoon on the Jumijo. 2025, 2056s, and a 736 pulling Brent's repainted tender.
I also got around to building that battery-powered campfire.
Off to New Hampshire for some trick or treating.
Modeling the Baltimore waterfront in HO scale
Taking a break from the cleaning.........
Sir James - Found another tip..... Track Cleaner does a fantastic job removing coffee rings from sinks!!!
Back to work...
Don
Thanks, Kurt.
Poor Jim has to go all the way to New Hampshire to go trick or treating... Wait, it's not even Halloween. He's getting a jump on everyone. More candy. Very smart.
Poor Jim couldn't take a nap because his fighting, screaming kids woke him up. An expletive deleted or two might have been muttered. The rain let up, so off we will go.
Evening all. Just like a New England Yankee. Does not know when Halloween is. OH WAIT!! That is right, its Halloween there all the time. Remember all the witches up there.
Did not miss anything in Hamlet. I had been on the private tour of the depot and seen the layout. Remember the photos I posted? 90% food venders and 10% crafts. Lots of people milling around and not moving. Like the midway at the State Fair. No fun. Ate in a restaurant and left. Wife had more fun with buddy's neighbor's wife on shopping trip to Pinehurst and Southern Pines. Then we had to stop at a Stien Mart on the way home. Why we are so late getting home. Pond is overflowing and up to the edge. If we had gotten more rain, it would have gone over the road and out the emergency runaround. Water flying over the spillway. Later
Don, Very practical housekeeping methods, maybe you should write an article for Good Housekeeping!
Jim A, I read the Rod Stewart article yesterday. Very well done, by the new editor of CTT. Trying to get my wife to read it.
Chief, I am finally catching up to you. Got the greenhouse cleaned up and sprayed with bleach mixture. Just in time as we have a frost warning for Monday morning, so I have to put some stuff I want to save inside tomorrow.
Watching the OSU / PSU game, not to happy right now. Hopping for a better 2nd half.
Take care,
Chief, bet you're glad you did all that work on the pond, sounds like the dam/spillway is working well.
Took son to swim practice then went with friends to a hotdog place. Stopped at Home Depot for some more 2x4's as well as some foam safe glue. Put in about 3 hours this evening making legs for the layout table. My friend John called to see if I wanted help moving it to the garage today, but I asked him to wait until tomorrow so I could get the legs made.
Laz - took your advice and made gussets for the legs. Also drilled out the bottoms of the legs with a jig and added some levelers. I'll put a couple pics in the Sunday thread.
Doug M - Our library is okay and they can get a lot of movies. But, my wife and I actually like to collect favorite old movies and I guess we currently have more than 1000, including some that are on vhs tapes (never released on dvd yet). If I do take a chance and blindbuy a dvd that I end up not liking, I sell them and end up being out just $4 or $5, and this doesn't happen very often, maybe a couple times a year. My biggest buys in the past year were the Forbidden Planet dvd in the metal box with a tiny robot toy and the Bava Sets. I bought a lot of used dvds this year too. DeepDiscount should be having their 20 percent off sale in a few weeks (biannual sale usually in June and November) and I'll probably buy a few sets I've been watching then. We re-watch our movies a lot.

You just have to blend things right.

Thanks for the info Fife-I guess I'll head back to Michael's for the Lemax ones I found. I love the look of them. I wasn't real impressed with some of the ones Walmart had either. I would love the Dept 56 buildings but a tad bit too expensive for just our Christmas layout. I'll keep my eyes open for some of the others you mentioned. Might be able to get some on ebay as well. Thanks again!
Hey, just checkin' in from cloudy & rainy Orlando......
Met LeatherFace, Jason and Freddie the K. Had a short chat with Jason, only 'cause he's from NorthWest New Jersey!!! Freddie, nor very talkative as was LeatherFace. Chainsaw was very loud. Went to downtown Disney today then to Old Town to watch the cruise (drizzled, so that the "sugar cars" didn't come. Didn't wan them to melt, you see. Ate at Flippers Pizza at Old Town then back here to the motel Pretty tired.
Found a DisneyWorld MonoRail set for $70, but runs on battery and is all plastic.
Well, tomorrow we trek on home Maybe I can take a nap when we get home. I'm beat, need a vacation from my vacation!!! Too many late nights (got home the AM @2 up @9am today.
See ya later,
Rich

Brent,
I think you need one of these!
Fit right in with your theme!
Well me and BRO went hunting pheasants today. Nice day at about 64 not bad saw 7 birds all in safety zones, couldn't shoot, DA! Anyway took guns for a nice 5 hrs of walking, oh well beers and burgers and dogs tasted good. Maybe next week, all the corn was still a standing and maybe next week they will take it down.
No trains tonite watched DA BUCKEYES beat up DA CHIPMUNKS. Go going! Hate those chipmunks.
All B Safe.
Evening all - Sounds like everyone is having a good time. No one down sick, and no major accidents or new injurys. Even the pond is full.
My travellers are doing well, but they are going to take a break. Currently they are in Flagstaff, and plan on going to Laughlin, NV for some last chance gambling tomorrow. Then home on Monday. Works out good, I need the time.
Got most of the cleaning done, even the mirrors on the hutch. So whe should be a little surprised.
Working on that dumb bridge of mine, and finally got it worked out. Trying to keep clearance and road height, curve geometry all in check. As well as track joints. Came across something really interesting and NEW to me! Using Gargraves track, if I use 027 tubular pins at the lower opening, get a very secure fit, and better track head alignment. Even provides capability of forming the rail head to asymetrical shape if required. Also, works very well for a disconnect and reconnect point for the bridge.
BTW, Im sure everyone is hearing news reports regarding the military aircraft availablility and the lack of "fire observers" required to fly with the aircraft. Another issue I don't understand. The city of San Diego has city limits that extend for 20-30 miles and further from the actual city, and covers 372 sq mi., the county has an area of 4,500 sq mi.. And the County does NOT have a fire department! They rely on a assistance agreement from the various communities. Apparently, the decision to development has repeatedly been voted down. Then there are some other issues involved as well regarding developers. Maybe some of this will be corrected. With 2 major fires in 4 years, and deveopment will certainly continue, something should be done to minimize the fire impact!
Back to work........................
CSXetc, 1 lb bream [bluegills for you Yanks], 2 lb crappie and bass up to 8 lbs. Some channel cats I stocked over a year ago run about 2 lbs.
Don B, guess you are going to get a real Big Boy this time instead of that fake one.
John F, cold coming this way too.
Just saw a cute movie with Russel Crowe. Get a vineyard in France from Uncle. Plans on selling it. Things change as it goes along.
Good night.
ChiefEagles wrote:Don B, guess you are going to get a real Big Boy this time instead of that fake one.
Hmmm, and you think my MTH RK Big Boy is fake???? Given that it cost less than 1/3 of the Lionel. That remains to be seen!!! It will be interesting comparing the features. The biggest advantage that I currently know of is the quality of the Lionel SHOULD be considerably better. (Even though the Lionel is 7 years newer.) My "fake" BB will even run in little circles, so it will be fun. I may have tosend the new one back.
Anyway, you will be too busy watching water flow over spillways, while I'm running trains. I know one thing though, I'm not going to buy anymore Big boys !!!! Sure hope Atlas doesn't come out with one!
Good morning everyone! Looking like a nice day ahead here in these parts. I am not scheduled for anything with the production part of today's services, but we never know. Anyway, been real busy with the movie thing. One note of interest, Kirk Cameron is going to be the lead in the movie. We are taking this week off, so I hope to get some train time in. Speaking of train time, I will get to play with the 1:1 scale in a few weeks for the movie, but I can't tell any more details.
Hope everyone has a blessed week ahead.

Good Morning from Blueberryhill....
It is a cold 40 degrees. Sun is coming up. Going up to 55 today, with lots of sunshine.
Today, we have a lot of chores to do around the house. Getting things back in order, since wife is home. Maybe run trains, for awhile, later.
Looking forward to SPF.
Looks like Boston is going to sweep the Series.
Nascar race this afternoon.
Dining Car is here and waitress is back. Breakfast.
Y'all have a great Sunday.
Chuck
Jumijo- Going to show us a pic of the campfire?
Jim F - I've got a Kreg pocket screw drill guide and it is great for building frame work. It makes the joints neat strong and trouble free. I'd use glue also.
CSXect - I've got a friend who has a place in HideAway, we've stayed there many times. Nice place, changed a lot in the past 10 years. Thought of getting a place there, but it is about 2 hours away, so it would not be real convenient.
Laz- were you with dogs for the birds?
Don- Glad to hear the clean up is going well. I'm sure you'll be glad to have the bride home.
Had class all day yesterday, had to use 12 hours of vacation. Oh well thank God for 240 hours of vacation a year. This year class took 204 hours of vacation. One more class for this quarter, then a formation weekend in November then off the January. Hopefully I'll get the garage addition done while I'm off. The cool wet weather is curing my concrete well. I'll take the forms down Monday when I'm off and before I start night shift Monday afternoon.
Finally got around to posting some pictures. I posted pics of the Gabe the Lamplighter and the Electromagnetic crane that I just put on the layout, and some pics of the new to me stuff I bought at the local train shop, including the tipples. I already had the hand car. I'm at work and have handed out the assignments, so I'd better go. Check back later
May God bless
Jim
Jim, I'll post a photo of the campfire as soon as I can. I just got around to making it yesterday, and I had already taken this week's photo fun pictures. Today is going to be busy, but if I can I will. If not, look for some next Sunday.
Morning Folks,
Lazy morning here. Slept until 7:30. Got to get ready for church meeting at 10:00, then services at 11:00. Hope to work on trouble shooting the horn on the BEEP later.
Take care.
