Have you met Dr. John, the resident pastor for the forum?  He is overworked trying to take care of all of us because some of us are inventing sins he has never considered,  so he might sign you on as an assistant.  Maybe they will let you be an intern for the forum.  I believe the pay is really good.   BTW, I had to take Greek in school.  They called it Thermodynamics.

Jerry, Welcome to the coffee Pot.

Did a little more work on the Docksider, now can run it and did test on operation, horn & smoke control.  All works so far.  Had to Dremel off some mounting studs for the old light board in the boiler shell and wire the new lighting setup.

Here is what it looks like so far.

The tie wrap sticking up in the air is there to hold up the antenna temporarily for testing.

More later, got to get the oven started, this is my night to do dinner.

Afternoon all!

Welcome, JTaylor801

Lisa, I hope your job search is successful.  I know they're crying for good nurses up here in Toronto.

It just started snowing here.  No doubt it'll be another of their weekly storms of the century.

Bought a few pieces of Atlas rolling stock at the LHS last weekend and noticed they now have Industrial Rail products stocked   Also got an Atlas switch tower which I'm in the process of painting and weathering.  Played a bit with my Lionel E6 Atlantic trying to fix the chuff unit cherry switch.  More on that in another post.

In the time it took to write this the snow has turned into a blizzard.  Stop eating so many cows!

Round 2

We are being hammered and it's ugly.  Heavy wet snow with fierce winds, most of the interstates are closed and it's supposed to last until tomorrow.  The worst part is that there are still over 50,000 folks without electricity and there are over 2300 out of state workers trying their hardest to get folks hooked up again.  It's basically dividing the state in half with the western half just being brought to it's knees.  Thankfully we have not lost our electricty at all this last week but the system is fragile at best.

Good to be home and warm.

Laz, The Railsounds don't appear to be the problem. I think you may need an EOB board to control the light and sounds. It might be more in line with what you need. But you could certainly get both and have a whole new system without any bugs.

Good morning from a wet and wild Crystal Lake where it thundered all night and was sleeting horizontally this morning. Now it's supposed to warm up just for the day. Found I didn't have enough wire to work on the layout last night.

Laz,

Try calling TAS.  It might be a faulty board that can be replaced with another, like EOB or something similar.

Thanks Chuck....Yes, we've had our share...actually more than our share.  We're spoiled in Denver.  The misconception here is it's always cold and always snow on the ground. That just isn't true....well until the Winter of 2006-07.

Paul, I wish my commute was just downstairs with coffee in hand.  Actually I only live about 5 minutes (normal drive) from the office.  However, this morning due to icy streets that took about 8-10 minutes.

Good morning all,

It is warmer and rainy in SE Indiana with temps heading to the 50s today.  I stayed up and watched "Lost" last night.  It was better than most episodes.  Lisa-in-NC, sorry to hear about the job loss.  With your qualifications, you should be able to find something, but those words don't help pay the bills.  I worked at a factory for almost 20 years when it closed.  I found a job that paid half as much and was an hour away, but we are surviving.  It is not easy, but we get by.  My wife says we are living on our retirement income level now :-)  Lucas had a clean bill of health from his checkup on Tuesday, so that is good news.  I got some more good news as there will be a pro women's soccer league in 2008 again.  I really liked the WUSA as it was the only available soccer on non-cable TV when it was in existence.  The Dining Car is headed out for "Points East".  All aboard!   I hope everyone has a good day.

Keep on training,

Mike C. from Indiana

Good Morning from Blueberryhill....

It is a mild 40 degrees. Cloudy. Going up to a warm 56 today. Suppose to get rain showers late this afternoon. Colder tomorrow.

Today is March 1st. Spring is on the way. Today, is a relaxing day. Have a few chores to do around the house and then, I plan on running trains. Wife will be gone this afternoon to her leaded glass class. Told her to make a steam engine for the train room. She does a good job.

Chief....Have a safe trip.

Dining Car has arrived and is ready for breakfast. Talk more later.

Y'all have a great Thursday.

I got a little more realtrax at lunchtime yesterday.  Enough track to complete my outer 042 loop.  I went home and put it on the new benchwork, and ran the train for about an hour before I had to go pick up the kid at the babysitters.  It now takes a long time for the train to go all the way around the dogbone loop, as apposed to the little oval track in the set.

I think I have designed too much track in the finished plans though.  After setting just the outer loop, my scenery space has already shrunk.  Using different levels (mountains and tunnels) is the only way I am going to be able to get room to put structures on the 2ft wide area.  It might just get too busy...time will tell when I start the inner loop and get some switches.  Those are pretty expensive.
