Mornin Fellas

Last night when I got home I started back to work on the toilet room... the underlayment is now completely off the floor!  And I did NOT need to use the affore mentioned M-80! Smile [:)] Although that did sound like a load of fun! Mischief [:-,]

As I suspected the dehumidifier really sucked that water out!  The underlayment was very brittle and came up pretty easy.  The subfloor, as I suspected was wet too and very heavily mold ridden! Dead [xx(] When I was removing the underlayment I put the prybar right through the subfloor! Shock [:O] So that will also need to be removed.  Since the subfloor seemed to be very heavily mold ridden, I decided to start the dehumidifier and let it go for the night.  Around 10pm curiosity got the better of me and I went back into the toilet room and started pulling up the subfloor... removed enough to get to the two floor joist and found NO water or mold! Big Smile [:D] So I don't have to worry about that... just have to get home tonight, rip up the sub floor, replace the toilet drain, reroute the water supply, and then reinstall the subfloor and put down new hardibacker underlayment...

I did have another mishap last night... remember how I said the room was small, well small rooms can present quite a problem for large people like me, and when I was pulling up the underlayment I slipped and put by backside through the wall! Shock [:O] So now I have a hole to patch as well... LOL!

I was able to get the Roadside America trip gallery posted to the website... for those interested:

almost forgot

Brutus and Sturgeon - I am wearing latex gloves and then my heavy leather work glove outers from the military.  Keeps me safe and lets me get a better grip on the wood for removal - no splinters yet! Smile [:)]

Oh and Brutus - the construction adheasive isn't on the floor joists it is between the OSB subfloor and the plywood underlayment... (well I don't know if it is on the floor joists yet, will know that tonight), but I have found a sharp chisel is good for removing the adheasive from the wall studs!

Wes and all--

Three or four years ago we spent a week in Colorado and rode on three entirely different rail trips. I just went through the photo albums trying to pick out one or two of the best pics, very difficult. Kinda got me fired up to go again!

Here's my one pic of Durango/Silverton, this was with a good point & click, I would love to the trip again now with my Nikon D70s. I have several wonderful shots from the Cumbres/Toltec also, we actually enjoyed that trip even more.

Here 'ya go.

Good morning from a sunny and warm Crystal Lake - storms came through overnight, we might get another later - odd for this time of year - hope this rain goes south to our parched friends.

Lots of things going on with everyone on the forum. The riot act was read to the daughter last eve as she is now flunking math. Going to contact the teacher about help.

May everyone have a safe and productive trip to York. Picked up some boxes at the UPS store for shipping out some trolleys later today.

Jim A, wish I had your restoration skill. I'd like to repaint 248 and coaches someday. It sure is inspiring.

Sure would be something to go to Colorado someday. Wonderful shots!

Evening All, 20:00hrs here in Peterborough. Thanks for the ice cold Bud JimSmile [:)] I've a 6 pack of Coors Light in the fridge (brewed under licence in the UK, but its not too bad). Help yourself to a silver bullet guys.

My ebay bargain Lionel 700e animated lamp showed up today. More decor for the gamesroomCool [8D]. Charlie loves it, Wife thinks I have lost the plotBig Smile [:D]. For those on this side of the pond it works fine on 50Hz with a normal 120V stepdown transformer. Finding a 110/120V light bulb with a ES fitting is easy as they are sold for inspection and site work lights.

Oh that reminds me, if anyone who is going to York gets the chance to view the TMCC 2 demo and ask questions. Could you ask if its 50Hz compatible? Its not a problem for me as I have the 60Hz inverter set up. But it would be nice if Lionel have thought of the international market as MTH did with DCS which is 50Hz compatible.

Gamesroom and Garage is really coming along. Gamesroom now completly dry walled. We are making progress in the shower/toilet with tiles going on the wall. Main fuse box now connected up. Talk about wires everywhere! We labled everything which really made life easy. I am going to do the same for the layout wiring.

Great pics

Have a good evening

I received an advance copy of the December 2007 issue of Trains magazine this afternoon. I am now in that elite company of other "Coffee Pot-ers" who have been published. I wrote a letter to the editor a while back. They asked for a picture. The picture and letter are at the bottom right corner of page 6 and continued on page 7 of the magazine. Not Toy Trains related but you are the guys I have begun to connect with. Will be interested in your comments when you see the letter.

Evening Folks,

I'm back home after spending the afternoon leisurely strolling the Orange Hall.  Did not run into any Coffee Pot members.  But, I did run into two other guys that I know.

Did not make many purchases, in fact only 1 purchase, a RMT B&O RDC car. I think I am also going to go back to the guy tomorrow and buy the sound kit for my RMT Beep.  IT was only $25.  Sounded great.

Take care,

Mitch

Evenin' boys.  Evenin' English.  Pre-York preparations all made.  Looking forward to seeing YUZ GUYS tomorrow.  All requests duly noted.  Looks like sloppy weather tomorrow.  Was going to bring my hip-waders, but then Jim A said he wasn't coming...Sad [:(]

88 - Terrible fortune in that bathroom.  Take it you won't want running water on the new layout.  Enjoyed your slide show of Roadside America.  Chief even showed up there.

Wes - A)Thanks for sharing your D&S pics with us.  B) Please don't reconfigure your layout...add to it a little if you must, but don't drastically alter the original looping.

Wes - cool videos!  Loved that view down from the bridge, wonder how many cameras are down there?!

88 - You should tell your wife that you just wanted a little storage for train magazines and thought that you could slide some in between the drywall and studs!  Instant magazine rack!

Don, I'll bet Roy had that fixed in no time!

Nick - cool buy, glad it runs on local power for you!  I just got a dvd on ebay from a lady in England - Oh Mr. Porter! and Convict 99 (set).  Oh Mr. Porter was pretty darn funny considering how old it was.  Especially when he's talking on 2 phones at the same time and then trying to get the Express to stop at Buggleskkelly Station!  My favorite part though is when he tries to shunt the trucks out of the way with Gladstone (1864) and pushes them off a cliff, then backs the passenger car onto the mainline just in time for the Express to disintegrate it!  Some good verbal Abbott and Costello type stuff too.  Too bad this is an R2 disk, so I can't lend it to my friends to watch.  I'll have to watch out for an R1 copy in the future!  John Baker put me onto this one and I really liked it a lot.  Need to track down the other one he told me about - I think it was the St. Trinians Railroad Robbery or something?

John Baker - where are you, anyway?  ERNI acting up and converting your spelling to MS-Frenchie?

Congratulations, Mel!  Can't wait to read it!

Doug, we had rain 2 days and then this afternoon it poured down for about 15 minutes while the sun was shining!

Mitch, good luck on the York shopping, let us know what you find!  Glad to hear your mom is doing better too.

Sir James, I think I paid top dollar MSRP for my BFOC plus shipping too!  Oh well, live and learn!

Fifedog, have a great time at York!

RIP Chewy - best dog I ever had.

I have been trying to rework it a little to accomadate all of the things that I want.  More buildings and objects, more turnouts to park on, and at least one loop of the biggest diameter that I can get in there.  Of course that would be O72, and that is a little tough to get in there.  More multiple trains running at the same time.  Room for the operating firehouse!  But I will try to keep the loops.

Tried to post about 3 PM EDT abd the CTT was dragging so bad, I gave up.   Thought maybe it was the hotel wireless but all other forums [trains and fishing] did fine.  Went to store and met Coonass buddy of mine.  Now Coonass is not a bad word.  Does not have to do with race but nationality.  The French LA folks from the bayou.  During WWII, the US Army used the French guys from LA to translate French/English in France.  Their French was not a true French and the French named them Coonass.  It derives from a French word meaning prostitute [who usually spoke very poor French].  About to die.  So much seafood and gumbo.  Love this food.  Hot and spicy. Dinner [dinner] BTW:  went into grocery store to get softdrinks [pop to the Yankeees] and popcorn.  Noticed all the items on the isle signs.  One had GRITS on the sign. Laugh [(-D]  Lots of switching yards and train tracks down here.  Lots of refineries too.  Flew from Houston right over New Orleans.  Interesting.  Rest time for me.  Been up a long time.  Later

EVENING, just thought I'd say goodnite.

Brutus- I had time to take a good look at the BFOC today and I don't know,it seems like a lot $ for so little. Very nice detailing though. But like most things;if you like it. Thats my thing about the Hogwarts I always wanted a british style engine and this set would be nicer with upgrades but it's got to be priced for parents to buy. so there we are. We go with what is offered. Would an ice cream cone make you feel better? My treat.         nity-nite,,,,,,,,Sir James

Sure not any activity here tonight.  Last post at 6:44 pm ?????  Guess because Chief's in Lousyana, (intended humor), all the Yorkies are either soaking their feet, or breaking open piggy banks.  That leaves the Ohizians....... only can figure if no one is mustering them, they can't think of much to talk about.

So that leaves us out here on the left coast.  A rather boring day, no reported earthquakes, tunnel fires, major truck accidents, dust storms, range and brush fires, nothing....  Just a quiet day in paradise.  Didn't even see any riots. Or, major crimes anywhere.  Work was even slow!  Geez, I wonder if this is all due to York ??  The other forums are even quiet.

Been studying how I'm going to wire up switches this weekend.  I am going to attempt hooking them up to the DCS AIU, and the remote button in parallel.  Have a total of 23 switches, 4 of them will be hooked together so they activate at the same time.  (2 sets or 2 each).  They accomodate transferring from track A to B.  Since I only have 1 AIU, which will accomodate 10 switches, will also connect 8 other switches to the AIU.  (Primary or mainline switches.)  These switches will also be wired so that pressing a button on the Control Panel will activate them.  (Bob Nielson had a great idea I plan on implementing, and that is mounting a stud or screw head in the control panel, and have a probe wired to ground.  Then simply touch the probe to the screw head and it activates.  However I don't have the necessary LEDs to install for monitoring switch position, and I'm not sure what control panel design I will be using.  Therefore,k will use the provide buttons for now.  Hopefully, will get a 2nd AIU for Christmas, leaving hints all over.  Like, "HEY !  Anybody want to know what I want for Christmas?"  Chris is getting the idea.

Ourclub is having an Open House this week-end, going to try and get down there on Sunday.  Need to get haircut, mow FIL's lawn, our lawn, and trip to LHS.  Busy day.

Going to stop with this rambling, but doubt that it matters much.... Nobody Is Out There Anyway !!

Morning all,

On night shift and hope you al are sleeping well.

I envy you guys going to York.  I can't imagine what it must be like.

Mel Congrats on getting published!  Welcome to the club!!!

Don-Things are fairly quiet.  I hope our buddies in York are behaving.

Well the garage addition project is now waiting on concrete.  Should pour concrete Monday or Tuesday.  That will hit my shifts just right where I can keep the pad wet for several days the help cure the concrete.  After that start my long stretch, the off 7 straight days.  Hope to get it framed up during that break.

Was looking at the layout figuring where to put Gabe and the crane.  I'm thinking move the water tower and put Gabe there, move the pond and put the crane there.  What do you think about if I would put a second 785 coaler next to the one that is there.  Would that look OK in you opinion?

Sleep well, may God bless

Jim

Chief, up here, soda is called tonic, not pop. Pop is a NY name for dad.

Some success, some failure last night with the wife's car. The roof came out incredible, but I rubbed out the new paint on the trunk being a little too agressive. Used to happen all the time when I was building models and trying to get that paint as smooth and flat as possible. Will re-paint it tomorrow after yet another kid's birthday party.

Might have a progress report on Brent's tender shell this weekend if time allows.

All the kids have colds, and one of them was kind enough to share theirs with me. Lousy good for nuthin kids...Wink [;)]

Morning to All,

A fresh pot is brewing.  Getting ready to head to York.  I'll meet a buddy for breakfast at about 8:00 and then head to the Fairgrounds.  The meet opens at 9:00.  I only walked the Orange Hall yesterday.  It is the largest of the buildings.  Will probably start with Silver and Blue then make our way around to the Orange Hall.  Thursday is typically less crowded.  Today the halls will be elbow to elbow if it is anything like meets of the past.

Ran the B&O RDC for a while yesterday. Sweet little engine.  I think I am gong to go back and get the sound board for the Beep from the guy who sold me the RDC.  I wonder if they make a sond board for the RDC.  Will have to do some internet research as well as some shoe leather research.

Have a great day.

Morning!

Not much going on here....Bride is finally done in..80-90 hour work weeks are finally taking their toll...after about 5-months...I'll do a bacon wrapped fillets with corn on the cob, and roasted potatos for dinner, and try to get her in for a massage saturday, to get her away from the attention craving children for a few hours.  She can't do the hot tub....too soon after surgery.

Sir James:  Nov. 4 show is iffy...  MIL said she's comming to town that weekend.  Bride and I vowed to not ditch the other one with her.  She's a lot of work.  I'll see how the bride is feeling by then, and recalculate.  Still not out of the question.

Awaiting new (to me) Birney, and 2025!  I'm pretty excited about these two!

Reminder:  Sweetest Day is tomorrow the 20th.

Good morning all,

It is cooler with a mix of clouds and sun in SE Indiana with highs in the 60s.  I ran the 10E with the freight cars last night.  I forget sometimes how relaxing that is.  I finished reading a book about the battle of Monocracy Creek during the civil war.  It is interesting how close the south came to capturing Washington, D.C. in 1864.  I did weights and track at the YMCA.  Another busy weekend is on tap.  We have a wedding to go to on Saturday and a trip to Bloomington on Sunday.  There was the usual fare on the dining car this morning.  I hope everyone has a good day.

Keep on training,

Mike C. from Indiana
