WOW, you miss reading the board for 1 day and there are over 3 pages of posts to read, remember, try to responde to, lose your response, read through posts again because 35 yo mind isn't what it used to be, realize you had forgotten to responde to 3/4 of the posts you were going to responde to, then start typing again, and lose post again! Disapprove [V]Banged Head [banghead]

Oh well, guess you can't expect much from a free board!  Black Eye [B)]

Anyhoo haw...

Buckeye, I was in Pissburgh visiting my family.  My mother turn 60 on Saturday so I made the trip to celebrate with her.  Also had to go visit the new tenants at my house and install a new ball trap grate (old grate cracked an no longer prevented the sewage gases from escaping into the house), new grate works great!  Also had to stop by a place I used to purchase my trains from so I could do my part to keep him in business, had to pickup the F-3 B Unit to the Chessie F-3 A-A set I got at the train show last weekend.  I haven't even finished emptying the car!  Found my old O-27 30" K-Line track sections, so I snagged them for shelving, also found the 30 old ceiling tiles I had been keeping for mountain production... told the tenants not to toss those in the trash! Wink [;)]

Fife,
I did some research and found that the B Unit only comes in one road number, so I decided to only get the 1.  I know I could renumber the second one, and that may be a possibility if I don't spend all my York money at York. Question [?]

Mitch,
App is with me as I type this.  Going to write the check, address the envelope, stamp it, address it and drop it in the mail in a few mins.

Mitch, Fife, Laz, John, et al
How long will it take to get the membership number?  Do I need it to get a badge for York, or could I copy the app and check and fax that to the York folks to get a badge?

Good morning from Buckeyeland!!!  It is 28 degrees and looking good for my trip today to Hoosierland.

The home network is back running, so I can do work from home again. Sigh [sigh]

Ran the trains yesterday.  No pileups and everything is running perfect.  Awaiting a big order of track so as to expand the layout.  I have been collecting accessories for the new addition for the last two years.

Mitch, sorry to hear about your friend.

Everyone have a good week.

See ya down the tracks,

Good morning from New England!

Had a great weekend of train running with the kids. We have a pair of Santa Fe F3s pulling a long train of coal filled hoppers. Sure looks good winding around the layout!

I took Julia to a Father/Daughter dance Friday night and had a ball. It was nice to see her enjoying herself so much. The next day, we were back in the same gym for basketball practice. She got 3 baskets!

John, I love those loads you made for the flat car and gon! Wow! You da man!  We ran out of "coal" for our hoppers. I'll stop by the pet store this week and buy more. I use aquarium filter charcoal (not gravel).

Have a great day, everyone.

Good morning from Gettysburg. Currently 28 with high to be about 45.  Wind gusts of 35+ mph so I better hold on to my hat...

Brent - Glad you got your application.  Get'er in the mail to the TCA ASAP and then the application to the Eastern Division for the York Meet.  You won't be disappointed, although you better wear some comfortable shoes.

FYI - I went to see my buddy Dave.  The dialysis has really helped and he was pretty cheerful and able to enjoy some visitors.  Kidney biopsy today, with preliminary results by the end of the week and full results in about 3 weeks.  Should find out if the kidney failure is the result of permanent damage or if the kidneys will recover.  Keep him in your prayers.

Well I better get going. Dining car has passed through already.

Take care,

Mitch

OOps, That was a Senior Moment! Blushy  Should have been addressing CSX with that last one. I was going to ask CXT "what that rather nice 3 rail track was in the photo you posted?".  Huh?

Sitting here watching the ending of Silver Streak on AMC.  The AMRoad equipment is thinly disguised CPRail F units and Budd cars.  The Chicago station into which the train finally crashes is in reality interior shots of Toronto's Union Station.  Sorry for spoiling the illusion and the ending Wink [;)]

Welcome home, safe and sound Chief.  Be sure to check out the Sunday Photo Fun thread, lots of good pics.

Sounds like you are not going to get much train time again this week.

Take care.

Gotta agree....John's gondola load looks awesome, especially now that it's painted up.

RT- Thanks for the invite.  Have done quite a bit of fishing in the Bay - I have a B-I-L who lives in Salisbury MD - so we go out on that side - usually around Deal Island.  Seems my BIL allows orders lots of wind and rough water when we go!  Have caught a bunch of nice fish.  Soon be time to hit the river here- ready to do a little nighttime catfishing.

Survived the Scout leader training weekend. It was cold but no rain, so all went well. Picked up a new tent for this (needed a smaller one than the family tent - so got a Coleman 9x7) and I still remain amazed how they pack these things in a "reusable" carrier that once you take it out it will never go back in SoapBox [soapbox]. There should be a law that says anything you sell has to be tested by a normal consumer and they have to be able to repack it into the supplied container.

Prayers for those in need.

Have a great evening!

Regards, Roy

By the way Lisa if you your husband and chief and his wife ever want to do some fishin let the chief bring his boat and there some oof the best fishin right here in VA I'm surounded by water here theres more inlets and rivers here than you can shake a stick at and you even have the cheasapeake bay here. of coarse the atlantic ocean isn't that far either by land or by water. So you don't have to goto Ohio of coarse we could get you to go to PA for some nice vacation also lots of great areas up there too as laz he'll tell you.

Think i over did it yesterday guys think I pulled a muscle.

Oh well no pain no gain but just need to take it careful next few days.

not much else going on here will tal to you all later

Chief should be in soon so watch it you all sure you got him all rowled up trying to get sweet lisa to go north again lol

Good afternoon all,

It is sunny and cold in SE Indiana with temps in the 20s.  My thoughts and prayers are with all those who going thru some medical issues.  We watched "Cars" last night.  The opening sequence was hilarious.  Lucas worked yesterday and today.  He and I went driving after work and he did ok.  Got up early enough to watch Thomas the Tank Engine on the local PBS.  It is fairly good.  Desperate Housewives is on tonight.  I should have posted this morning about the dining car, but it was too early for a Sunday.  I hope everyone has a good day.

Keep on training,

Mike C. from Indiana

Afternoon everyone.  Had a good service this morning for early church.  I hope to do a little wire work on the layout before night church.  It seems the wiring is going a little slow as I have to make sure of things before I proceed.  I think this is the slowest part of building.

Found out this morning that a good friends office was destroyed in the tornados.  He is a orthopedic surgeon.  All the equipment can be replaced, but the patient charts is the big thing.  Fortunately, only a few people lost their lives.

Take care,

Dennis

You may want to be careful using slang as over here they may have a vastly different meaning Sign - Oops [#oops] Gook sounds too much like a racial slur against AsiansSign - Oops [#oops]

Also a tip for talking to women from America refrain from the infamous phrase "knock you up" as over there it means can I call you but here in America you would be asking to make a babyShock [:O] Shock [:O]Shock [:O]

John : (jefelectric) hope that address works !! Got another load done today, except for painting the load. They really don't tie these loads down to the car. They're steel banded inside the gon to big pieces of wood that they set on in the car. The cross pieces of wood are up against the sides of the car & they stay real well. It's the loads on open flat cars that sometimes get loose & we tighten up the chains on those in the yard sometimes. Here is a picture of my latest car & load before I paint the load !!

I'll paint it & post another picture later !!

Thanks, John

Afternoon all,

Been trying to keep up with the pot, not posting much.  Been busy as a one armed paper hanger.  Final papers and exams due in two weeks.  Finished working on my truck and I'm off till this coming Thursday night. I've not been training much this week and going into withdrawal.  Plan on playing so today after a little studying.

Cool and Sunny here, the Ohio is high but not sure how far above flood stage.  Nice to be high and dry.

Prayers for all

John, Be sure to post pics of your gondola loads, maybe I can steal, er  borrow your idea.  BTW do they tie down the gondola loads?  Or do they just depend on the sides holding them in place?

Good afternoon everyone,

First some snow flurries and then the Sun was out when I came to the basement.   Mild temps in the high 30s.

Has everyone seen the email goiing around with the picture of Laz's new computer?  Very nice, the knowledge just flows from it.

Mitch & Bill, Will put your friends in my prayers.

Bill & John, Thanks for the train tender info.

About to head out to the greenhouse, time to start the pepper & eggplant seed.

Take care,

Feeling a lot better, but my head is still draining some.  Praying for Dave and RT's friend and all the rest of us, too.  We have been watching some of our older DVD's and last night got up to the 4th Lethal Weapon movie.  I'd pretty much forgotten that one.  Death by train - twice!  Bad guys push a car in front of an oncoming train.  Later they try it with our hero and he just waits until the last second and then floors it straight ahead, leaving the bad guys, who were trying to push his car with their SUV, to get hit by the train!  And then by a 2nd train!  I guess they never watched the PSA on the train show!

RIP Chewy - best dog I ever had.

Good Morning --

Prayers and best wishes for Dave and others under the weather.

Wife left for Laughlin this morn, not back until Wednesday.  Son gone to work and the playhouse doing some set redesigns, then to normal job at Knotts all day.  Good Train Day ????  NO.... More wallpaper removal, then acoustic ceilings.  But everyday is one step closer to MY priorities.

The pics this week are great, and keep me motivated to get all this preliminary stuff done.  Sure like the flat cars.

Well the steamer is a cookin' so gotta go and get busy.

Hope everyone has a great day!

(BTW, some may remeber a couple weeks ago I posted about being "banned" on another forum?  All is resolved, they had done a sweep to reduce spam, and as a result since my email address ended in a "dot com" the program thought I was spam.  So they wanted to verify that I was indeed a "trainhead" (their term not mine, been called worse), the ban was lifted.   LOL)
