I got off work early today as the IT engineer was having trouble getting a driver for motorola modems we installed into refurbished pcs and brought the whole process to a stop but we are way ahead of schedual anyway. As soon as I walked in the door the phone rang and it was a company I have been trying to get a job with as a quality control lab technician. They want me to come in tuesday at 1:00pm.

You are not going to believe this!!!!!!!!!!!!!  The widow lady next door where I do her yard work for free except I get the pinestraw from her yard.  Well her lazy --- son [younger than me but has no job] gave away a whole truckload of pinestraw I had raked in piles. Grumpy [|(]  "I thought you were through."  If I had been through I would not have left the piles where I have to mow you dumb ---.  Bet the bum sold it.  "Well you can rake up more over there under those trees."  If it wasn't for his 80+ year old Mom who can hardly walk, I'd let the yard grow up and the Town fine them every month.  That is what use to happen until I said I would do the yard.  I lose lots of money and time doing that yard.  OOOHHH, I ill now.

No time to run trains. Sad [:(]  Got new eyes [glasses].  Got transistions this time.  Have always had progressive bifocals.  Can still read without them as I proved to the Dr.  Things are just a little crisper.  Progressives are better for computer screens as you move your eyes up and down to change focus.  Same for working on anything [including trains].

Nice day today. Cloudy and mid-60's. We did not get any significant rain unfortunately.

Son is outside with buddies, so at least I got him out of the house. Daughter is parked in her room. She did come out to eat. They were up at the crack of 11 today. Made them pancakes for breakfast (what a guy eh!) or should I say "brunch."

Sore from all the heavy yard work Sat and Sun.

Hope all are having a great day!

Regards, Roy

Absolutely georgious out right now.  I have to take the kids to the park.  We just watched Peter Pan, have not seen it since I was about 5.  Not much happening down these parts.  Lots of burning going on outside, so will have to pick a park upwind from the plantations.

Hope Y'all have a great day,

Dennis

Busy as a cat in a cream factory.  Time has me really off.  been doing reports and emailing them along with photos of this weekend's event.  Beautiful outside and I am working inside.  Got to go.  UPS delivered big paycheck.  Hit the CU before 2 PM.  Hey, UPS was running late too.  Later.

OH, hope all the ailing get better.  My thing is: look around and you can find someone "worse" than you.   Jim, lots of adults get braces now.

CSX train and cable news just said @ 11:40 that more explosions could occur. Apparently caused by a derailment.

Good Morning from Smokey and Hot So. Cal.

Yep, we got the fires burning again, a little early this year.  But the weather isn't helping 94 here yesterday set all kinds of records.  Supposed to be 90 today!  The fire is in Anahiem Hills and was apparently arson.  Someone stole a car and set it on fire, then abandonded it.  Crazy!  Only 2 homes destroyed, 2000 acres burned.  Maybe they can get it out doday, their is a resevoir close by.

Got all my wall paper down except the stairway, that is planned for tomorrow.  Today going to work on the accoustic ceiling in the hallway.  Needed to come up with some scaffolding or ladders for the staircase, checked out the "Little Giants", and Lowes.  Found a 17', 5'n'1 ladder at Lowes,  seems like a good find.  Much cheaper than the advertised name brands.

Did get some train time in, sure like how the Big Boy runs, ran it through ALL of its paces and it works great!  Yesterday took the day off from the house project, and got me ledger boards up in the train room.  (Backing for a perimeter 15" shelf, to run the G gauge on.)  Major achievement.

Working on a evening project of populating our UP passenger set.  Looks like I might have to amputate a few legs.  The people fit well except in two of the observation platform decks.  So will try to be carfull, maybe try some hot water therapy first, and see if they are flexible enough.  Doubt it though.

With all the dental work going on, there should be a lot of beautiful smiles soon.  The collective appearance of the group......  Various stages of smiles and metal, and finger splints..  What an image.

Have a good day all!  I hear the ceiling calling.

Lisa,
Because Jim went to the dentist on Friday and made an offhand comment on needing braces as an adult... seems there are a few of us in the same boat!  LOL!

I've given up on getting my wife to be quiet... she even talks in her sleep!  Yep had a few full conversations with her and she doesn't remember anything!  LOL!  Last night she fell asleep, she said something and I responded, was talking with her and realized she was sleeping... I asked if I could buy a C&O Allegheny for the new layout, 'how much is it', 'Fifteen hunderd', 'H3LL NO!' was the response... Sad [:(] but it was worth a try...  LOL!!!!  Oh, and I can't get away from her at work either, she either emails me or calls when she gets bored! Sigh [sigh]

Why are we talking about teeth?!  Brings back memories of about 15 years ago.  Had to have "bi-lateral osteotomies" - a big word for cutting a "z" type break and extending the lower jaw forward.  Wired shut for a week - Hubby said "Oh yeah - that'll shut her up for a while" - but I showed him I could still talk (not very clearly) thru clinched teeth!  Braces and everything else - a horrible 18 mos.  This was all to correct TMJ - jaw joint kept locking up on the left side.

Yep - Allergy season is here - my eyes are a mess too!  Sad [:(]

I will except all expense paid trips to most anywhere to do scenery.  Will work cheap also - remember, I am unemployed at the moment!Laugh [(-D]Laugh [(-D]

I do the same thing. Smile without showing my teeth.

Good morning from a dark and warmish Chicago where it is supposed to rain. Lotsa snow still around despite the last few days in the 50s. Supposed to roller-coaster temps a bit this week. Wish it would warm up for good.

John, hope your finger heals swiftly.

Jim A and company, I'm still paying for kid's braces - one after another after another. And now the bride is thinking about a retainer. Nothing left for me. My braces didn't work very well when I was younger. It took a few years of tightening them and pain for my orthodontist to figure out some of my teeth were fused to my skull and wouldn't move. Just smiling without opening my mouth these days...

Brent, are we related? Wink [;)]I have the same problems.

Laz, I'm missing 3 teeth. Wish I had them back, but that's water over the bridge. My dentist says braces can move existing teeth forward to close gaps, or implants (posts) can be screwed into my jaw. That sounds like fun! I'm going to look like Cary freakin Grant when this is all behind me! Judy! Judy! Judy!!

Jim,
I got braces when I was a child and the thing to do back then was remove teeth instead of fixing the problem... so now here I am 36 years old, getting headaches at least 5 times a week due to pressure on my lower jaw, my lower jaw is too small for my teeth (my two front upper teeth are 3mm wider than the average persons), and my four lower front teeth are misshapen. Now I need to have my jaw expanded (they don't have to break my jaw thank God) to make room for my teeth, have my teeth pulled forward (to correct a bad overbite), the outter edges of my two front lower teeth need to be ground down and the inner edges of the next two teeth need to be ground down.  The problem then will be that I will be two teeth short of a full mouth because of the earlier extractions.  So I can either have crowns inserted or I can get a partial bridge... phase 1 is going to run me over $5,000.00!!!!!! And my dental insurance doesn't cover cosmetic or adult orthodonics... grrr... talking to the doc today about the headaches, maybe I can get the medical ins to cover it... Confused [%-)]

Yeah, my teeth are a little out of line. One tooth is slightly overlapping another in front. And I have an overbite that I've been told should be corrected. "Perfect" teeth are becoming all the rage now. I guess I'm getting vain in my middle age. Either that or it's a mid-life crisis thing. Whatev, right?

Braces?  I have been blessed not to have needed them.  We have a heart surgeon on staff here who just got braces this past year.  He already looks like a kid and now with the braces....well, we let him off easy, but we could have some funWink [;)].  Actually, I think that more and more adults are getting braces.  Was a time when you needed a set of pumpkin teeth before you would get braces, now days, if the teeth are a little out of line, many folks are getting them fixed.

I am finally off call and hoping to enjoy the day.  I plan on hitting the gym about 11 this morning, then picking up the kids and having a little fun with them at the park.  This afternoon, I hope to get some wire work done on the layout.  Perhaps I need to hire Lisa to come down and do the scenery on my layout.  Given her photos, it is apparent that she is talented.

Have a great day,

Dennis

LOL, I know the feeling.  I got braces too young and my teeth are starting to crowd in the front.  But, the problem is that as a pastor braces simply aren't going to work for me.  So I have been giving serious consideration to the invisaline teeth straightening system.  They say it cost twice as much, but braces simply are out of the question.  So what other choice do I have, right.

Gotta stay away from this image now don't we....
