Good morning from Dixie! Another warm and sunny day today. It's getting kind of dry here - could use some rain. Perhaps some will arrive Friday.
CTT arrived at the Johnston residence yesterday. Read it last night - good issue. Interesting article about the scale Hudson, the GG1 and Alco A unit.
John B., do you fellows have anything akin to our federal income tax on your side of the pond? It's tax season over here with the wonderful forms 10-40, W-2, 1099, et. al., ad nauseum. Lots of paperwork and income for the Certified Public Accountants. (My son is studying to become a CPA). Our deadline for filing is April 15 (at least without an extension). Alabama has a state income tax too, though not all states have one (one of the great things about Florida!) Anyway, just curious. (And no, I am definitely not trying to start a political flame war here! )

Good morning from Buckeyeland, where it is a nice spring day, but.............
Foul weather is heading our way. It is tornado season.
That is not the Chief fishing on Page 18. He is in the outhouse on the hill. That is yours truely fly fishing on the banks of the Potomac River in WV.
Busy day...
See ya down the tracks,
BTW, did you see we had a big train wreck in Buckeyland last night?

Good moring all,
After I posted, I realized I forgot to mention I got the May CTT yesterday. I saw the picture on page 18, and I understand what everybody is talking about. I glanced at some of the articles, and I hope to study it some more tonight. I hope everyone has a good day.
Keep on training,
Mike C. from Indiana
Good morning all,
It is sunny and warm again in SE Indiana with temps near 80 again. I love it. Last night went to county music fest where all three county high schools perform together. The band section was not too bad, but the guest choral director spent more time talking about himself than letting the kids perform. Lucas and his girlfriend were in the choral group, but we could only see Lucas. After that was done, I played some indoor soccer with the high school kids. It was fun, but I really can not stay up with them. I was telling them that I remember when I used to be able to outrun them, but that was when they were U-10s!?!?
I have some good news and some not so good news. The good news is that I start a new job on April 23 with a substantial pay increase, enough that I may be able to start buying train stuff again. The not so good news is that I am not sure if and when I will be able to post on a regular basis. My hours will be changing some and so I may be able to post from home before I head off to work. I will just have to see. This is a goal that I have been pursuing for several months and persistence does pay off every once in a while.
I am still not decided as to who won the "Battle of Harrisburg". There are conflicting reports from both sides, but at least it seems the number of casualties was low. (In other words, neither side could hit the broad side of a barn :-) ).
I better send the dining car to "Points East" so they are well fed for all the carpet work ahead of them. To Roy and all the others with teenagers, it does get better at some point. I hope everyone has a good day.

BUCKEYE!!!! That looks alot like Laz's 800lb bear! Now we know what REALLY happened... poor bear! Supposed to get up to 82 here today... good day for painting living room. Hope to get it done tonight. Have to stop at hair dresser on the way home to get my mop cut (yes I go to a hair dresser, the ladies tend to be a lot cuter than the guys at the barber shop, and they dress nicer too - better scenery) , then lady is coming to pickup the entertainment center... still looking for a buyer for our maple kitchen table with 6 windsor back chairs! Maybe after she leaves I can get the wall painted...Well gotta run and get this crazy paper written for school... Brent
Mornin' boys. Wellll, I'll tell ya. Tucked my already tainted CTT under my arm and headed for my morning constitutional. Reading the excellent article on the ALGOMA CENTRAL, and BANG---page 45. I know the man gets around, but this is getting to be like WHERE'S WALDO...
Hey LISA, mind throwin' my whites in for me...?
Good morning everyone.
Late night here at work last night. The good news is that all the overtime will help pay for that post war Berk I bought last week.
Didn't get to run trains last night. But my wife was home unexpectedly and we had a nice dinner together. Tonight I need to finish up the Chief's double portal. He's been very patient in waiting for it to be completed. I also need to clean track this week.
Have a nice day, everyone!

Evening all!
Finally started raining here. Good constant gentle rain. About 3/4 inch so far. This will help our lakes.
Long day today. Did not sleep well. Hope to make up for it tonight.
13 year old son is driving everyone in the house absolutely nuts. Now I know why some people send their kids to prep school after 6th grade.
Got my 261E loco back from Just Trains. Great guys. Joe called me to let me know it had shipped. Hope to unpack it later tonight. They were careful to repack it like I sent it to them (box in a box with foam peanut filler).
Have a great evening all!
Regards, Roy
Anyway, enjoy the grandson. Is this the first?
Yes, first grandchild.

Sounds like my wife. I ask, where is something [in the kitchen or other wise, "Look for it," she says. Never in the same place. I have a place for everything [kitchen and other wise]. Tops never screwed all the way back on. Youngest the same way. Dare not shake the OJ cartain without checking the top.
Nick,
Glad you got your CTT. Mine arrived today also. I have not had the chance to see it yet, but bride informed me it was there. I can hardly wait to check it out and see page #18 as well.
Chief, glad you got to sleep in. Hope Pam was there to let the boys out.
Anyway, bought a new string trimmer this weekend and have to get some work done around some fence posts. Also found out the nursery overcharged us for a number of the trees, so instead of a refund, we will be getting more for me, I mean our family, to plant. Like Buckeye, I need to run some trains.

Brent - sounds like Mrs 88 is related to my husband. He went fishing yesterday and came home and dumped all the gear, cooler, etc. right in the middle of the garage floor. He has a nice rack for the rods right there on the wall - but couldn't seem to put them back. Keep telling him -
And he wonders why he can't seem to find any of his stuff!!
I've spent most of the day washing up all his hunting clothes that he had piled up since the end of deer season - of course that requires special soap, descenting the drier, etc., and picking up all his stuff and putting it away. Thinking maybe I won't go back to work - he's a full time job all by himself!! But I love him anyway!!

Yep its here to, had to cut the lawn Yesterday.
New CTT droped on the mat this morning haven't had chance to read it yet. Working through a load of paperwork today as away on site for the rest of the week. Just flicking through and notice the Ilkley show is mentioned in the events section. Great to see that. Hope Lionel read CTT Yes that's right there is a market for your product on this side of the pond!
UPS man arrived and brought a extra Powermaster and Fastrack as well as 6 lengths of O tinplate track for our Hellgate bridge. This is the first time I have had a close look at the older track system. It does have a charm all of its own.
Time to have a read of CTT.
Later guys and gals

Just got a call from the carpet layer. Can't make it until Friday. Now we have to put back the kitchen. It's gonna be one of those days.
I need to run trains.

Morning all. ATSJer, belated travleing and all, I missed it. Would you believe I slept until 10 AM. Been sleeping with one eye open while up Nawth [never can trust Yanks]. We will now referr to the GREAT BATTLE AT HARRISBURG as a REBS victory. When I went to the restaurant, talked to the manager, handed him the big bag of GRITS, offered to pay him, he busted out laughing and said, "I'll do it free!" [BTW: most of my "buddy" reps went to Doc's for steaks that night. They say the steaks are great]
Great trip and great visit. Got to see NS and CN all at one place. Fife, thanks for the tour. Found out I would not have to drive far from where I was staying to gt to that location [we went back on I 81]. Next trip up, guess where I will go?
Got to get moving. Slept too late. Have a good one.
Well, it is almost the end of the morning, so I will just wish everyone a great day. It was HOT yesterday as we took the kids to the amusement park. Hoverring around 90 the last few days. Even with sun screen, we got a little burned.
ATS, Happy birthday. Sorry it is a day late, I had trouble getting the computer to work....very frustrating sometimes.
I am not sure the north can recover from the defeat suffered over the weekend. Next thing you know, they will be eating Collard Greens and Chitlins.
Not any train time this weekend. Anyway, have to head in, I am on call and it will be a long week as one of the guys is out in the woods acting like a turkey. I get to see more in my own yard than he does hunting.
Dennis
Greetings and salutes from the Bluegrass!
63 degrees right now, expected highs in the 80's we might break a record here today, we came close yesterday but fell short a degree or two.
Still pretty excited about my new track, I love how much quieter the tubular is and how versatile the track is over the ballasted track. CTT had a nice article on cutting the stuff in order to customize certain pieces, found that pretty interesting, but father said that the article was more work, and all that really needed to be done was to secure the rails. He uses a piece of 2x4 that has 3 groves cut in it with a radial arm saw, he then lays the whole piece in there and can cut all three rails at the same time with no movement.
I also found a picture that shows the detail level that I want to have on my layout. It's not quite Post-war, but then not High-rail either, its a nice compromise between the two styles. I don't know if there is a name for this in-between style, but I like it and I think it will work nicely with a Kentucky Bluegrass rolling hills landscape.
BTW; thanks Scott, I'm looking forward to receiving that Pole Ex tender; it'll soon have "Pere Marquette" written all over it!
DOUG - have read a few of those translated directions. They are hilarious but often frustrating!
Good Morning from Blueberryhill....
It is a cloudy 67 degrees. Going up to 78 today. Maybe we'll get a little sunshine.
Late posting today. We are moving all the things in the kitchen. Guys will be here soon, to put down the new kitchen carpeting. A lot of work. Wife finished painting the walls. Should look great when all is done. Nothing new on the train subject. I will be busy most of today.
Dining Car was here. Ate breakfast. I guess it got to " points west " early.
Where's Buckeye ???
Chuck
Y'all have a great Monday.
Doug Murphy 'We few, we happy few, we band of brothers...' Henry V.
Morning all,
Running a little late today, got to get going to the fitness center.
Did finish installing passengers in one of the dome cars, both levels, now to put it back together. Only 6 more cars to go.
Looks like the grass is starting to green up, need to give the roses the spring pruning and do some cleanup of winter debris.
Where is Chuck this morning?
Take care,
JIM,
Yes kind a? I got the EOB from Train America Studios and put it in and got my chuff working good but now the smoke unit is burnt out. It just seems that it goes from one thing to the next. Oh well just going to run it with no smoke for a while. At York I'll get a few smoke elements and put it in.
