Morning all.  Had to wait again this AM.  Poor lady is separated from her hubby and he has filed for divorce [she will not sign, over heard while she was talking on cell phone and sitting at computer].  She and her kids living in Holiday Inn Express.  I babysat her kids ]about 12, 6 and 3] last night while waiting for her to get off of computer.  I colored and etc with them.  HUMMM.

Been laughing hard over the GRITS raid.  Everyone at Bass Pro in Marine was laughing all evening.  Feel so good about the "win", I have let the sun come out and shine.Wink [;)]Big Smile [:D]

Really had a great time.  All the guys were so great and took me to see the REAL railroad [NS]. Big Smile [:D]

Off to store and then flight home.  God bless all.

Morning All,

Looks like you all had a good time with lunch.  Buckeye your questionair is a hoot, made my morning.

Was in class all day Saturday, 8:00 a.m. to 9:00 p.m.  Class over now, just polish on exegisis paper (instructor requires references in MLA Dead [xx(]) and final exam.  Scheduled to work 60 hours this week, so I'll start the exam when I'm off.

I installed the sawmill on the layout and works great.  There is a picture over in photo fun if you're interested.  I'm thinking of some detail work to add and I'd love some suggestions.

Reggie, you little girl is real cute!  She will be a heartbreaker!!

Take care and God Bless

Jim

Good Morning from Blueberryhill....

It is a foggy 57 degrees. Going up to 70 today, with , maybe, a chance of sunshine.

Today, we are taking it easy. Yesterday was hectic. Company arrived and young 4 year old was very active. Kept us all busy. Nice visit. I will run trains this afternoon. One of the boys is still not feeling good.  Took him to Vet , for another shot. Coughing better, but will only drink water. This will take a while to clear up.

I'm glad everyone had a nice lunch with Chief. That was probably just lumpy Cream of Wheat. Glad you guys didn't eat it.

Dining Car has arrived. " Points west " must be sleeping late. Breakfast.

Y'all have a great Sunday.

Morning all, 11:13 BST here in a sunny Peterborough. Hope your right John B, and the gritters have gone in to hibernation till next winterSmile [:)]. Hope your niece will be OK, she is only 6 years older than me.

Been very busy with work. Working away, so no computerSigh [sigh]. Still increasing the funds available for gamesroom/garage constructionSmile [:)]

UPS have a train parcel to deliver to us on Monday (Powermaster and Fastrack). I don't like getting stuff sent by UPS as they charge more extra "handling" charges than any of the other forms of parcel delivery from the US to UK. Are they the same with internal stuff within the US ??

Hope you all have a good Sunday

Hello ya all, From a mild, cloudy Stockport, looks like we've seen the last gritter for this winter.

My niece (38smoker) had a heart attack last week, is making a good recovery at home, she was going to quit when the total ban on smoking in enclosed public spaces comes in July 1st. I have a smoking related disease (arterial degeneration) caused by years of passive smoking. Because our pubs permit it my survey of same is being carried out at great personal risk, however it is worth it due to the wonderful ales I am able to sample.

Because I am a busy person, even though retired (I don't know how I found time for work) I can't get enough time on ERNI to keep up with the posts. Dennis, Jim, Chief apologies for losing track (no pun intended)

Got Smiley back.

Got to go now (yawn!), just put clocks forwards and I'm missing my beauty sleep.

Good evening everyone,

This week was a pain. I had 2 projects due on Friday, and needless to say, I wasn't the happiest person the past few days. Anyway, I just got in from celebrating my mom's bday. We had a nice dinner, but the bill..........

It looks like you guys had a good time. I wish I had my license so I could have met you all out there.

Also, I just noticed that the TCA meet is close to the weekend that I am heading to the East Coast Large Scale Train Show, which is next weekend. I'll be sure to leave a mess behind for you guysWink [;)]

Finally got to computer.  AfricanAmerican lady was on it for over 2 hours.  Had to call front desk and get them to ask her to leave.  She knew I wanted to use it 30 minutes after I got to hotel.  Some people.

Yanks, fell to the SOUTHERN grits.

Told you I had a way to beat the overwhelming numbers of Yanks.

Nice, great pic guys, looks like you had a wonderful visit.  Love the sides of grits, but did they have cheese or just butter?  I prefer the cheese grits.

Looks like the South won this round.  I should never have told the Chief where we were going to have lunch.  He hatched a plot with Doc Holiday's to have each of us served a bowl of grits!Sad [:(]

That is not ice cream in the small dishes.

And a few of the railfan pics.

It was a rather dreary day but a good time was had by all.

Afternoon all!

Hope everyone is doing well.  I've been keeping me head down while the Neil Young thingy blows over Wink [;)]

It seems spring has sprung.  As the snow finally disappears we're seeing the wildlife of the area more frequently.  The usual squirrels, rabbits and racoons are out in droves and the birds seem to be everywhere.  One big surprise was the sighting of a.... flock? gaggle? herd?... of wild turkeys!  3 males and 5 hens.  In all our 25 years of living here we've never seen turkeys before!  All of them looked large enough to be the main attraction in a Norman Rockwell Thanksgiving dinner painting.

Went to a NSLHS last weekend for the first time.  Of course to make the 4 hour round trip worth while I'd have to purchasing something.  There sat a NIB PWC freight set from the Lionel 2005 V1 catalog.  I had to have that!  I didn't even ask to see the engine run....just flashed the gold card and I was outta there!

A few noteworthy observations on this set.  The 773 is monsterous!  I wasn't prepared for it's mass when everything else I have of the Post War and Pre War era is semi-scale.  Even my Pre War 226E is a full 4" shorter than the 773.  While it isn't as detailed as a 700E it sure is scale in size and is decidedly the 1950 version of the 773.  I would have rather had NYC ( as it was on the 1950 version )on the tender than the factory's Lionel Lines it came with.  As for the drawbar...it's just way too long and the huge ( about 1 3/4" ) gap looks stupid.  I couldn't resist this challenge and made up a shorter drawbar on the tender to close the gap.  Unfortunately I was only able to shorten this by about 3/8" so it didn't make as much of a difference as I had wished.  The tetherless IR system limits how much the gap can be closed.  It runs good and pulls really well even without the magnetraction working on my Atlas track, the tires on the blind drivers compensate for this.  Speaking of Magnetraction, the drivers are coated an ugly dark grey which would have looked better painted black IMHO.  The sounds that I can access are great!  Can't wait for my TMCCII so I can try everything in command mode.

The cars in the set are reproductions of a later era....I think this particular feight set was originally offered back in 1965?  It was nice to get some operating cars I hadn't collected before.  The fresh new stuff looks odd to me as I'm used to looking at used beat up PW offerings.  The cars look puny behind the 773...but then that was an original compomise as well.

I guess I'm pretty happy with this outfit.  I certainly couldn't have expected to find originals for less money.  It's changed some of my plans for the next layout though.  Think I'll try devoting a significant section of it to semi-scale stuff running on tubular track.

Have a great time today to all of you meeting in Harrisburg!  Seating the 800 pound bear beside Chief should keep him in line!

Good morning from sunny and warm Alabama where temps are expected in the mid-80s today. It's a gorgeous day, but dry - we sure could use some rain!

Today is younger daughter's 15th birthday. She's already got car fever and doesn't have her permit yet!Sad [:(] Also found out that son's Jeep was totalled after his accident a few weeks ago. We'll get the settlement check from insurance next week and start car shopping for him next weekend. May look at another Jeep.

About time to get out and do some yard work, then take family out for daughter's b'day dinner later this evening.

Have a good day, all!
