Dear OTTS board of directors,                                          March 29th, 2007

It has come to our attention that certain photographs in your posession contain images that portray our cartoon characters in a less than wholesome fashion.  After lengthy discussion with our lawyers it is our conclusion that said photographs infringe on pattent laws.  An out of court settlement statement has been sent to you in case you decide you would rather not have us take legal action.  We would advise that you accept this settlement and for the sake of millions of innocent children everywhere who's dreams and fantasies might be corrupted, DON'T PUBLISH THOSE PHOTOS!

Yours Scincerely,

Dennis, I hope you're right. It's DRY here in Alabama! If we have another dry year like last year, I may invest in a well. My sprinklers run off of city water and my bills last year were HIGH!!! Dead [xx(]

Good Morning all!

Another Delay Here, - Oh Shaw!! (Sr. Curseword) -

While putting everything back together from all the painting, wife and I decided to check out the carpeting,  SOOOO..... Carpeting and entry way flooring being installed on Monday.  So everything has to be moved out again, Most of the furniture has to go to garage and/or train room.  Plus I need to run wires for the stereo and cable so that they can be placed on a different wall in the family room.  So big impact on my weekend.

Wait, optimistic view - still going to get the shelves up, just a delay on the weekend!  The days moved to Tuesday/Wednesday.

Went to club last night, took a banner I had made for the Open house that is coming up, (while I am in York).  Took some of our older stuff down and ran in conventional.  Have 2 #42 Picatinny Switchers, a GG1, and a Virginian FM.  Everything worked great!  We were the only ones running!

Morning y'all,

Dr.John, they are calling for us to get some rain later in the weekend, so you may get it a day before us.  We too are supposed to be in the upper 80s today.  I cranked up the well yesterday.....it feeds the irrigation system.  not much else going on.  I am on call and have a mid afternoon cases.  Kids have a Easter Egg hunt for my son's school.

Hope y'all have a great day, and Chief, whatever you do, don't let a yankee take a picture of you in the dress!

Morning, all! Another warm day today in the upper 80's, then a cool-down over the weekend. Still need rain badly. I'm afraid we're getting into another drought.

Off to the dentist this afternoon for a check-up. I don't mind dentist visits, but there is something odd about having people hover over you, with their fingers in your mouth while you stare up their nostrils.

My RailKing PRR F-3 set came in yesterday. Ordered it from Legacy Station in GA. and it arrived in three days! Great service! I was pleased to see it does have Loco-sound, rather than the advertised bell and whistle. I ordered a RailKing PRR 2-8-0 Passenger set w/ PS 2.0 a week ago from Wholesale Trains. It hasn't arrived yet, maybe today.

Everyone have a good day. Chief have fun in Orlando. BTW, you owe me a new keyboard and monitor. I spit coffee all over mine when I read you were going to dress like a princess!!! Shock [:O]Dead [xx(]

Hey welcome back Dep!  Have a cup'o'fien on me!

I have the 681 and 2020 so no more Turbines for me... but I could go for a 726 or a 736... if found at the right price and condition... that one on ebay that Jim posted isn't my cup of tea (don't like damaged engines that much).

Well stopped by the LHS yesterday on my way home and got the MTH C&O Sleeper/Diner cars for the passenger train... also checked with them and they said it shouldn't have any problems pulling all 7 cars... so I've been trying to find out more on the motor that is in it and can't find anything other than this:

Motor (RS-385PH) (6.5x28.0mm long worm gear)(15.5mm long threads)(11.0x30.0mm flywheel) Partno. BE-0000040 $25.00

Grrrr....

Tonight appears to be painting night at the old house... btw - contract was signed sealed and delivered last night, so the old house is SOLD, SOLD, SOLD!!!!

Good morning from New England!

Someone please take a photo of the Chief in his Cinderella costume!

Chilly today with highs in the 40s. But sunny, so I will not complain. March is flying by. Monday is opening day for the Red Sox. They open the season in Kansas City. I'd love to go there just for the great barb-b-q!

Keith, I went to a train show this weekend and saw a very nice pre war freight set led by a Torpedo! I almost bought it. It was for sale at the last show back in December.  If it's still there the next time, I'm buying it!!!

Good Morning from Blueberryhill....

It is a cool 50 degrees. Looks like the sun is trying to come out. Going up to 65 today, with sunshine. Grass is starting to grow.

Today, I am going to Cambridge to do the grocery shopping. Wife is going to the Beauty shop to get hair done. We both need to get out of the house for a few hours. Slept better last night. This is going to be rough for awhile. Trying to stay focused on the good times. I wore poor Woo out yesterday. Took a lot of walks and played ball. One of these days, I will tell the story, about how he got his name. It is fitting.

Dining Car is here and I need to eat breakfast. Have not been too hungry the last few days. " Points West " will get a lot.

Y'all have a great Thursday.

Good morning all,

It is cooler but still nice in SE Indiana with temps in the 60s today.  All this talk of veterans and survivors makes me think of a cousin of mine.  My uncle re-married late in life and had a daughter (by a much younger wife).  He was a WWII vet, flying in B-17 missions as a bombardier or navigator.  He has since passed on, but his daughter is now in her early 20s.  I can see stories being written about her 60 years from now as the "last surviving direct descendant of a WW II vet".

Thank you all for the comments and congrats.  It is nice to be able to share the good times as well as the bad on the 'pot.

Was very busy last night.  Started getting the mowers ready to cut grass.  There was someone out cutting grass down the street from us this week.  I try to wait until after April 15 as a rule of thumb, but I may not get that lucky this year.  I also talked to some people about getting a new garage door.  I did treadmill at the YMCA, and I wasted an hour watching "Lost".  It was a totally worthless episode.

The dining car is headed for "Points East".  I hope everyone has a good day.

Keep on training,

Mike C. from Indiana

Jim,

We finally settled our WWII debt with you guys just before Christmas. I believe our last WWI veteran died a few weeks ago. I have a hand carved walking stick made for me by a wonderful man who served throughout and worked in the local pit until the 1960s, the stick has one of his tunic buttons set into the top. I treasure it greatly. Why can't your gods prevent war?

York is in Yorkshire England (isn't it?) my home county, it Hosts the National Railway Museum, at Easter there is a very large model railway exhibition.

I have a form of Tinnitus, loud bass music sets off a roaring sensation and I have difficulty hearing speech. Or am I just getting old?

We are not allowed to have dogs or other large pets here, the fuss the kids and wife made when we lost 'Lady' our lovely old Lab. made me vow to have no more dogs, had a few cats over the years or should I say they had us. I'm not uncaring really! Just very practical.

Greetings from the Northland,

I am reporting in to the c-potter's from the extreme northwestern part of Alaska. I am on a GRITS and train seeking mission! I am happy to report there are no grits to be found in Nome, Kotzebue or Shishmaref! Luckily this portion of the north appears to be a GFZ (Grits Free Zone). Unfortunately there are also no trains either– at least I have not run in to any! Last night I was in Nome, where things have slowed to normal with the Iditarod now over and all the musher and touristas flying back to their homes.

Tonight I am in Shishmaref, small community on the the coast of the Arctic Ocean. Less than a week ago one of the locals bagged a polar bear who was cruising for food a little to close to town. LAZ maybe you should relocate your bear hunting station a little further to the northwest! Shishmaref is home to some of the worlds greatest ivory carvers. It is also famous because the ocean is eroding the village away. It is on a narrow spit of land and the big storm waves roll in and carry the beach away and it is now beginning to take out buildings and homes.

Train question. Has anyone one ever used electrolytic rust method to clean old rusty O gauge track? I have a bunch of old 0-72 track that is pretty rusty and I am considering setting up a bucket and trying to remove the rust this way. Has any one tried this?

If the weather stays as nice as it was today I will fly back to Fairbanks tomorrow. Weather is warm here tonight took a walk over to the store and it must have been at least 15°f above! Sweet and the wind wasn't blowing much either!

Best regards and good night!

Hello from the Mile High City,

Sorry...I haven't posted on the coffee pot thread in about a week or so.  Work has been hectic with an office restack taking place this last weekend.  Then I was sick about 2 weeks ago with fever, sore throat and aches and pains.  That knocked me out for about 3 days and I stayed home from work to try to recover quicker....I think that was smart.

The weather here in Denver has been super nice the past couple of days.  On Sunday the temps were in the upper 70's.  Tomorrow it's going to be cold and wet....but Spring will be back on Saturday with temps back around 70.

I got part of my bench built on Sunday.  It's framed and the plywood is down.  I'm going to lay the foam this coming weekend.  This first bench is 6'x16'.  I'll place another bench that will run approx. 6'x10' followed by another 6'x12' essentially making a large horseshoe shaped bench layout.

Well I hope everyone is doing fine.

Jerry

P.S.  I too just received my "Building an O Gauge Layout" DVD.  Can't wait to watch it.

I'm not sure if she's still alive, but I read that there was a living child of a Civil War veteran still on the rolls a few years ago.  Her father was very old, maybe in his 70's, when she was born and she got his pension because she was a helpless child.  You take it easy, John!

BTW - got my Building O Gauge Layout dvd today from oldies.com.  Also, I'm winning a Miller Lite vat car.  I've been trying to find train cars/buildings etc that will sort of represent friends of mine on my layout.  This one will fit my friend Jeff!  (edit:)never mind - got sniped at the last second :(

Roy, you think Laz and Buckeye have Post Traumatic Grits Disorder?

Here's some news I got at work that I found interesting (sorry, not train related):

March 16, 2007:

The last American combat veteran of World War I recently passed away, on February 22nd. Howard V. Ramsey was 109 years old and lived in Oregon.

He was a corporal, and arrived in France two months before the war ended in 1918.  Ramsey drove trucks and cars, which brought him under enemy artillery fire as he delivered supplies to the front lines or drove an ambulance up to retrieve wounded troops. After the war ended on November 11, 1918, Ramsey spent seven months recovering the bodies of dead American soldiers. Ramsey was born in Colorado, and volunteered for service, as he was too young for the draft. There are still seven American World War I veterans, but none of them went overseas.

Some 4.7 million Americans served during World War I, of whom 53,513 died in combat, 63,195 died from non-combat causes, and 204,002 were wounded. The U.S. did not enter World War I until April 6, 1917. World War I cost about $100 billion, most of which was incurred after the war for care of veterans and interest on the war debt.

RIP Chewy - best dog I ever had.
