Good Afternoon.  Had a great day so far.  Morning church with a Refresh conference.  Our usual is Mexican food after Sunday school.  Wife and daughter are sleeping, son and I have Star Wars, episode I on.  I thumbed through the programs over the next few days.  One program on one of the history channels is called "what the victorians gave us" and this episode has a section on the Great Western Railway.

Spoke to my mother this afternoon, her cousin from across the pond is coming to visit.  He hails from Sussex, England.  They usually spend the better part of a month.  Perhaps I should load him up with some Lionel sets for our friends across the pond.

Well, time to get ready for evening church.  Hope everyone has a great week ahead.

Dennis

Just returned from a wonderful 3 days at lake Okoboji, summer is winding down quickly with one more trip to Lake Superior next week. Still no sign of fall colors but that will change dramatically within the next 3 weeks.

Wes--the bus trip from Silverton back to Durango is less than an hour as I remember it, I think. Our driver was very interesting and pointed out several points of interest that you cannot see on the train. The other thing was that we were able to go through the museum and then grab an adult beverage and watch the train return to the yards. If you are in the open air car (which is where we were) consider very warm clothes and perhaps a blanket, especially at this time of year. It's a great trip, you will love it.

That sounds like a plan.  I'm reserving the gondala (outside car) trip at 8:15am, which is the early trip, and then taking the bus back.

edit- They just added a premium gondola with free mug since last night.  No price given for the return home trip via bus.  The seats sure look a lot more comfortable!

Thanks for the tip,
Wes

Pots cold;   everyone must be outside today. I'll take a chance and make fresh. Oldest son and two grandsons came  by and helped me move the boat to the patio so its summer is over. Also helped me move ruined tv to the curb for  trash man tomorrow. At least it won't be our christmas tree. watched the Det. lions actually win another game although it didn't look like anyone wanted to win. No train running today busy.  I'll drop back before bedtime.   Sir James

Nice day today, a little overcast and cool, but not too humid.  I got all frames primed and only a little on the windows.  I'll scrape it off tomorrow.  The primer was brown - didn't remember getting brown.  It looks fine with the siding, so I guess I knew what I was doing.  Have to paint this week.  I've got the leftovers and rags outside.  I've seen a couple news stories where folks were painting and that night the rags spontaneously combusted and burned down their house!  Went to buy a gift certificate for my nephew and then went to Michaels and checked out the Halloween stuff for this year - a couple really cool animated buildings!  I guess I need to start thinking about the Halloween layout for this year.  Wish the basement was done already.  TTFN!

RIP Chewy - best dog I ever had.

HI GIZ,

Beautiful of a day here got up to 67.  Took my dog and me for a nice 4 miler today on the old railroad bed here in Millersburg.  Nice change o pace running on black dirt otherwise known as coal dust.  A bit dirty but great to be there.  In the summer filled with horse flies and deer flies and when they bite they hurt, so only run there in early spring and fall.

BEARS WIN, but I lost bet with BRO, gave him 10 pts. on KC his team.  Now I got to bring beer to the fireplace after first day o phesant season.

Just got done running trains for an hour, NO PILE UPS.

All is good with the world.

Good evening - just checking how the forum likes the Firefox browser. Going to run trolleys now instead of watching boring TV with the bride. How 'bout them Bears? Still have questions on offense - and it is sure a dark time in South Bend...

Good evening all,

IIABSDISEI with temps in the 70s.  We had a baptism in Indy for the newest grandson, and a nice luncheon afterward.  Got back at 6 PM and the wife and I took the dog for a walk.  There were bran muffins on the dining car from "Points East" this morning.  I hope everyone has a good day.

Keep on training,

You have some beauties !!  Is that Elsie The Cow back there ? One of my brother-in-laws has a couple of those he showed me years ago & said back then that they were worth a lot. I think they even do stuff but I forgot what he said now !! He used to pick up milk at farms with a big rig.

Hope everyone had a nice weekend !!

Good evening everyone,

Bit chilly today here in Philly. Nothing much to say. Work is kinda slow. Training new guy only a week out of the academy.

Little guy gave me a nice head cold that he caught from the munchkin next door. Feels like I got hit with a wiffle ball bat in the nose. Hope it's only a 24hr thing. Well gonna get some Tea and lay down. Everyone be safe.

Quick stop by.  Had a late ending to night church.  Was great stuff, glad I went.  I read Laz's post about Frank meeting Jim Barrett.  Glad they were able to get together.  I think both make great contributions to the hobby.

Gotta run start off dark early with a few cases.

God Bless,

Good morning all,

IIABSDISEI with temps in the 40s rising to the low 80s today.  While it is nice today, it is supposed to get hot again this week.  There were bran muffins on the dining car as it headed to "Points East" this morning.  I hope everyone has a good day.

Good Morning from Blueberryhill....

It is a sunny 46 degrees. Going up to 80 today with all sunshine. The nights are getting colder.

Today is a usual , running errands day. I have about 5 stops to make. Then, I will be working around the house for a few hours. I don't think I will have time for trains. Wish I did.

I heard a rumor that Buckeye was escaping from Alabama, today. He has eluded the 'Bama Gang, and will hop a fast freight North.

Less than 3 weeks left before the Berea train show.

Dining Car is here and well stocked. Time for breakfast.

Y'all have a great Monday.

Mornin' fellas, and Ms Lisa.

Another eventful weekend down... finally getting over this cold...

Saturday Susan and I got a coat of paint on 1/2 the shed after watching PSU beat Buffalo.  Then we watched Alabama come back and beat Arkansas.  Yesterday we spent the day with her brother, and watched the Steelers for a bit before heading to M&T Bank Stadium to see the Ravens try and lose one to the Jets.  Ray Lewis would have none of that and intercepted a pass in the endzone right in front of us! Smile [:)]

Got word that the master bathroom vanities, mirrors, and shower door are in.  They are being delivered this Saturday.  So now I have to get the shed painted, and trimmed out.  The Susan wants to get the front bedroom wall paper removed, walls fixed, and painted, then the master bathroom project starts.  Should get to working on that the weekend after next.

---
York is coming up in a few weeks... I got an email from Atlas O about some demos they are doing.  I'm taking in the 1pm Friday show... anyone else taking them in?

I think all I'm looking for is track and maybe a 6 car set of grey Western Maryland hoppers.  Nothing more on my list that I really have room for till I get construction started (hopefully mid to late October).

GOOD MORNING TO ALL,     Another damp 49 start, but sunny and warmer this week.

Folks should not get upset by what shows up on one of these forums, just say your piece, step back and let it go.     I skipped cutting the grass on sat. so I could  watch football, now I am waiting for it to dry this AM so I can do that little chore today.

I have no train plans today but it's probably time to check the "M" engine batteries again. As soon as I get settled with the bills from that storm I am getting the rest of the BCR's and be done with it.    Pots running slow this morning guess everyones at work trying to wake up.

Morning all.  Quiet day.  All the kids are at school and the wife is safely downstairs resting on the couch.  I'm ready to start working out again.  Pretty much blew off the whole summer because of work and lack of interest but after gaining weight and feeling like crap well....

While I'm down working out I'll give some more thought about moving the transformers up.  I need to clear an alternate path to the washer and dryer before I bring them out due to space constraints.

Have a great day all!

Morning from a grey and warming Chicago where I noticed all sorts of interesting prototypical stuff on my commute that would look nice on a layout. The UP is using an inactive siding to store MoW equipment. They just newly fenced it in. So you have this interesting equipment, shiny new chain-link fence all around - gate on the track, and a decrepit old building in the background.  Also noticed some new tank cars with stencils on top of their domes designating their cargo - they must be dedicated to that cargo.

The local media is turning up all sorts of management problems at the CTA - no trackwork, no inspections, no supervision, no paperwork - on most of the subways. No money either I guess. Anyway, hope you have a good Monday.

Almost forgot, here's something for the Batmen among us: http://www.cnn.com/video/#/video/us/2007/09/16/swaby.nm.batman.superfan.ap

I just cannot get IE 7 to 'activate' links very well...

Good morning everyone! 71 and rainy in Jacksonville. Hasn't been as low as 71 in a long time. Still trying to find ambition to get into the train room and take pictures and clear out stuff. My Community College classes start next week, Monday and Tuesday nights and Saturday mornings for three months. Made reservations with Amtrak to go to Indianapolis in January. Sleeping car fares do make the trip rather pricey!

Good Morning from beautiful Southern Ohio.

Got back Sunday night about 2 a.m. from vacation in Glacier National Park.  WOW, it was so beautiful words don't do it justice.  We were gone for a week, took lots of pictures, hiked over 50 miles of trails and saw mule deers, whitetail deers, moose(s?) mountain goats, bighorn sheeps, grizzle bear, black bears, eagles and some of the most beautiful streams waterfalls and lakes that you could ever imagine.  Once I get the pictures over in photobucket I'll post some till  you get bored.

Got a $25 check and an early copy of the CTT for the idea I submitted.  The November issue is great!  My tip is on page 31.  20th Annaversery issue.

Lots of pages since I left so I'll catch up with them later.  Trivia, The Pacific Northwest Rail Road basically put up the money to develop the infrastructure and the network lodges to develop tourism.

May God bless

Dinner [dinner]Like Mel sez, kinda cool, raining kittys and puppies right now (has been for atleast 1/2 hour...).  Saturday was spent at the LHS runnin' trains and fixing engines.  Also tried to get the remote camera to work, seems like it has too much interference, even with the antenna close to the camera.  Will try again next Saturday.....Sigh [sigh].    Cooked dinner Sunday and make Chicken cordon bleu (without the breading!) with Chicken riceChef [C=:-)].  My oldest loved it.  We cleaned the stored unit out a little and started to find some HO trains...maybe clean it out some more..find more HO?  Also bought some pine trees at Wally World. At .99 each, looks pretty good on the layout.  Soon will try to get rid of all the car parts and possibly the car.  I'd like my roadrunner convert back, just need to make room for it.  Fall here is a great time for cruisin' with the top down.  TOO HOT in the summer (mostly too hot any how...)Whistling [:-^]

Til later

Not too much going on today.  Won 2 152 crossing gates for about $10 each last night though.  I also received a rather rude email from a guy that sold me a 395 floodlight tower.  He said it was mint, but when I got it, the box is badly skinned, there was green paint slopped on the base of the tower, heavy oxidation, one terminal clip altered, and two light bulbs are incorrect.  I left him neutral feedback.  He emailed me last night and said "before I jump the gun and leave poor feedback as you did, what exactlky is wrong with the tower".  Naturally, a rude email like that prompted an equally rude response from me.  Should have left him negative.  Rant over.

BTW, where is Jim A.?

Well at least you left him a nuetral. I had a guy not long ago (as I was in the middle of moving I was selling some trains ) Well I miissed that a coupler was broke he left neg without contacting me first. I would have sent him another 6462 gondolla I had like 6 of them at the time.

Last night my wife goes you know that transformer you want ? (okay now I'm getting scared) I bite and say yeah . She goes why don't you see if you can win one. (It's a ZW that I want) What do you want well  I want a bottom curtain for the kitchen that matches the top that we have.I tell her you know I'm looking at $125.00 - $150.00 plus shipping don't you.  Now I'm really Confused [%-)] last week on train restrition this week tells me to buy a $150.00 transformer so she can get a $15.00 curtain Banged Head [banghead]

I give up. So I went and won the aution last night befor she could change her mind real quick. Don't take chances like that when that happens. got lucky got one for $117.50 plus shipping of just over $20. so I did okay if it works as good as he says it does.

rt and Dr. John,

This guy emailed me back and said that since I jumped the gun, he jumped the gun and left me negative feedback.  Not happy at all.  He destroyed my perfect feedback.  Email me if you want to know more.  Don't want to stoop to his level...

Chuck, I'm back from Dixieland.  What an adventure!!!  I suppose it would have been more prudent of me not to wear my Columbus Blue Jackets hockey attire.  Seem to make them boys irritable.  They served grits with shrimp.  Sure is a horrible way to treat shrimp.  Drank some sweet tea and now I have a rotten tooth.  They also served everything on the list that gives me kidney stones.  Coincidence?  I don't think so!!!  As to trains, we have often wondered about the Chief's lack of knowledge about the railroads.  I believe I know the answer.  There are no railroads in the south. Didn't cross one track or see one train in all of Birmingham, AL.  Did see one boxcar, but had been remodled so that it fit in real well at the trailer park. Needless to say, I'm back, safe and sound.
