Thanks,

Wes, when we took the bus back from Silverton, the driver provided an on-going narrative of the scenery.

Here is his statement

You are bidding on a great old LIONEL TRAIN MULTI-CONTROL TYPE ZW TRAINMASTER TRANSFORMER. 275W, 115V. Cosmetically, the phenolic transformer housing is in very nice condition, crack and chip free with light discoloration of the top surfaces. The power cord is in usable, but fair condition. Voltage posts A,B,C have power, voltage post D does not. The green power on light works, the red warning light has not been tested. Whistle controls have not been tested. All power controls are intact, crack free and operate smoothly.

He later stated retested and D was working also so all teminals  worked.

Dr. John has it right! We hide everything of value in case the Carpetbaggers come this way.

I am still alive. Life has been very busy. My wife and I took the task this year to run what our high school band calls "Student Accounts." This means we track all fundraising and fees for 380 band students. Needless to say the task now consumes all our time - time that I might have spent more productively on the CTT forum!

Hope all are well. Looking forward to York in a few weeks (for a nice break).

Good evening everyone,

It was an uneventful day here, which isn't a bad thing.

But, what I just found out wasn't too exciting. Colin McRae, a Rally Car superstar, died Saturday from a helicopter crash. He was piloting it with his son, and a friend and his son.

Well, I hope everyone had a good day.

RT - I really like that B&O locomotive.  Is that called a "Sharknose"?  Congrats on the ZW.  I keep looking at those closer and closer.  Soon..... Laugh [(-D]

Doug M - I LOVE that Batman video!  How cool!  I want one of those plus a full size animated B9 Robot (old Lost in Space TV show) for the living room.

Jim (S-Phish) - Congratulations on the tip/issue!  Man, and in the 20th Anniv Iss?  Too Cool Bow [bow]

Welcome Back, Buckeye!  Did you bend any railroad tracks around trees, or otherwise sabotage the effort?

(Psst: Dr. John, be sure to have the local Grits supplies tested ASAP!)

Howdy, Roy - nothing like becoming a book keeper for nearly 400 kids.  I'm sure that will keep you busy!

Jimtrumpie, too bad on that ebay exchange.  The Bay is definitely geared to the seller, if they are careful.  They can really mess you up and rip you off to boot.

Hi to 88, PKnight, Mel, Chuck, JohnS, Dennis, Colin, Wes, John Baker, and everyone else who posted today or ever (HA! I'm not missing anyone today!).

A little warmer today.  Primer is dry and turned out a flat brown color.  Wife is not sure she is happy with color - apparently she wanted a say.  Of course she didn't say that until after I spent 2.5 days on the project and primer is DRY [9-D]  Also, I checked and the actual paint I bought is WHITE.  D'OH!  Not sure how that will/would cover brown primer!  I have to make a trip to Home Depot for a new brush anyway and might make her go along and pick a color of paint she likes.  It's Rustoleum, so I think we are limited on choices though.

Evenin' boys.  Just checking in.

Buckeye - Congrats on a successful return above the Mason-Dixon.   I agree with you about fouling up shrimp with grits.Dead [xx(]  I don't remember Bubba telling Forest about that one...

Phish - that is so cool that you got into the 20th Anniv issue.  Can I get your autograph?

ROY - where are you gonna stay this time for YORK...?

88 - That was a pretty good first 3 quarters...then they went "prevent"...which never does...

rt - nice utters.

Yeah, I was just there last night and got the "catalog" for 2007.  I actually just want a couple pieces this year.  I really need to get a move on and make a layout for 2007.  I guess I'll have to make some room in the basement for a temp layout at this point, since I've been banished from the livingroom.  Say, what's your real name anyway?

WOW, what a day.  Early drop by Town Hall for an approval of trees to be planted, lunch with news reporter, County Commissioner's Meeting this afternoon and Mended Hearts tonight.  Tired.

Dr. John and Roy, proves what I always thought was true.  BUCKEYE is BLIND.  Have not been to Birmingham in a few but do fly over it a lot.  Sure see some big yards from the air.  Did see trains when I was in Montgomery/Prattville.  But Buckeye couldn't have seen trains in AL as he was running around in Lisa's back yard [remember she saw him in his true colors, black with white stripe down his backShock [:O]].

Wife has made a big pot of veggie soup and I'm hungry.  Turned a little cool [low was in the upper 40's this AM] so she does soup.  Love it.

Marty, glad the wife is doing good.

Just getting to the forums.  Later

Evening all,

At work on break catching up on old pot news.  Thanks for the congrats for the tip being published.  I'll use the $25 toward next years subscription, so the train hobby is kind of becoming self sufficient???  Not even close.

RT- I know what you mean when you need to act before bride changes mind about train buying restrictions.  I've gotten to clarifying to make sure what I heard is what she really said.  Got in trouble when I acted on what I heard and not what she thought she said.

Jim T- Too bad about the eBay mishap.  Try contacting eBay and see about resolution.  About a month ago I bought a 644 red and green crane car for $18 with a buy it now.  When I contacted the seller to get a mailing address he said he only accepts paypal.  Well I didn't have paypal, so wee mutually agreed to chuck the sale.  I guess I could have pressed it.  It was a great buy.  I don't think the seller really knew what he had.

Buckeye-Glad you had a nice trip.  It is amazing what can be done with grits.

Roy-Good to hear from you.

Chief-Love soup when the weather turns cool, especially with corn bread.  Remember I was raised by my Kentucky Grandma

Time to get back to work

May God bless

Jim

Starting new job today, so my time on the forum will be decreasing.  For the first time in 20 years, I have a 1/2 hour commute to work.  I have in the past worked so close to home that I could ride a bike, which I did on Saturdays.

Thanks to one and all for their words of support this last four months of unemployment.

Fife - Yeah the 'prevent you from winning' defense.  I don't know why coaches still use it because it NEVER works.

JimF - What are you painting?  Must have missed it.

RT - Love those B&O Sharknoses!  I'm still holding out hope that Susan is getting me the Lionel E7s this year for X-Mas!  I really want them!  If not them then the Chessie GP-38 with Legacy II... either will look wonderful on the layout!

Did some more work on the shed last night - no painting... hope the roller and brush aren't ruined... any way I put the trim up around the doors and on the doors.  Now they open and stay open! Smile [:)] Also put trim up around the front window.  Looks good.  Now just have to paint and then finish trimming the rest of the shed.  Should have that done (paint tonight) and the trim tomorrow.  Then Thursday I have to get the ridge vent shingled and then the shed is done!

Hope to get the front bedroom wall paper stripped Friday night into Saturday and then start the masterbathroom next weekend... really looking forward to that project.  Haven't done a major demo job in a long while and laying tile is one of my favorite projects as I find it rather relaxing - not sure why.  I think I'm looking forward to this project because it isn't difficult and it will make a HUGE dramatic difference...

I may end up getting started on the layout after work on the weekdays.  Depending on what needs to be done with the bathroom there simply isn't much time after work to work on it.  The layout I can work on for a couple hours and then walk away, but once you get to painting and laying tile in the bathroom you just can't stop in the middle and have it turn out nice.  That and I have a three day weekend coming up at the beginning of October and that will be perfect for laying tile and grouting.  Just realized Susan hasn't picked out lighting yet...

Good Morning from Blueberryhill....

It is a sunny 48 degrees. Going up to a sunny 82, today. This weather could stay like this.

Today, is a relaxing day. I got a lot of errands run, yesterday. Need to do a few things, outside, later. Wife has an appointment in Marietta, this afternoon, so it will be a quiet, shade tree , few hours. I may as well enjoy it while I can.

I may run trains later. Feel the need for traintime.

Buckeye....Good luck with the new job !!!

Indians beat Detroit last night. Playoffs looking better.

Well, Dining car is here and ready. Time for breakfast. Later.

Y'all have a great Tuesday.

Good morning all,

IIABSDISEI with temps reaching into the 80s today.  My wife and I went to the YMCA last.  I did weights and some trackwork.  I sure hope I start losing weight soon as I am tired of all this exercise and not dropping pounds.  At least my track speeds are slowly improving.  I went upstairs to run trains last night, but I ran out of time.  Lucas had a bad day at school and work.  Maybe today will be better for him.

I recently re-subscribed to Trains again and I have been enjoying the articles in there as well.  I like reading about short lines that serve out of the way places.

I have been running a little behind today, and there was the usual fare on the dining car this morning.  The boys are at home and the girls are on the road in high school soccer tonight.  Both games could get really ugly.  I hope everyone has a good day.

Keep on training,

Mike C. from Indiana

Buckeye--
Best wishes on the new job, hope that it's a good one.

My commute for the last 24 years was 5 minutes if THE light was red, 4 if green :) And that's living 1 1/2 miles from work.

Good morning all from sunny N Texas. Gonna be 92 today - absolutely balmy.

Another very busy day today so not much time to read up on posts.

Buckeye - good luck on the new job. 30 min commute ain't bad in today's world. It will give you more time to think up snappy responses to the Chief!

Brent - your shed is like a soap opera - I am gone for the better part of the last few weeks and the same story is still going on! Wink [;)]

Hope all are doing well and have a great day all!

Good morning from a sunny and warm Chicago where I have a long day of meetings and class tonight.

I took apart the Rail Zepp last evening. Took out the wind-up motor - it is so cool looking, I have to put it somewhere. Cut off the gear to the prop. Now I'm musing on cuts to make in the undercarriage to pop in the new motor.

Good luck, Buckeye, on the new job. I'll bet I win for the longest commute - in time-spent that is. It's about 50 miles and about an hour and a half each way. Hmm, if I count all the time from when I leave the house to enter the office and vice versa, it's even longer. Good thing it's mostly on a train.

Good morning all,

I knew I forgot something earlier.  Good luck, Buckeye, on the new job.  I know what it is like to start over again.  I used to have a short commute (5 minutes) and now a long one (about an hour).  Fortunately, I do carpool and that does help.  I hope everyone has a good day.

Keep on training,

Glad Buckeye is back to work !!  I can't stand working when others are home working on their trains !! Laugh [(-D]  Just kidding, hope we hear how your first day went !!

Now, I may be going on 3rd. trick. YUK !! Oh well, at least it's an easy job. Less than 2 yrs' to go now !!

Well, my boy also got his first real job !! I didn't dare give him any tips on work, since I sort of forgot what real work is now !! Laugh [(-D] He's starting at the top right off the bat !!  Yep, he may flip some burgers after he learns how to mop the floors & clean the bathrooms !! Laugh [(-D]

Can't wait for the train show Oct. 6th. !!  I just wish my new Atlas steamer would show up before then, but it looks like November, maybe . Well, that's my last preorder !! I can't take the stress !! Laugh [(-D]

Good luck with the new job.  Keep your tail down and son't spry the boss when you get upset [note Lisa's post on seeing Buckeye in her yard Laugh [(-D]].  I could ride a bike to my office too.  Wife gets upset and the boys [dogs] don't like me riding in the house. Whistling [:-^]

Morning all.  Cooler.  Nothing but Town Board tonight.  Been on phone with County Commissioner as he was elated over the News & Observer article this AM. http://www.newsobserver.com/news/story/707550.html  School officials are now wanting to meet with me Friday PM to "talk".  Should have done that earlier.  Still upset that their Real-Estate broker will still get his share [$$$$] for land sites he could not find.  "Its in the contract," per Wake County Schools.

Now for trains.  Working on shelving under layout for storage of rolling stock.  Have a good one.
