Evening all.  Finally got to read the psots.  John F, was planing on it but got to go to Gonzolas LA that week or will just be getting back.  Busy on the phone about fires and etc.  Then fell asleep in recliner.  Watered all day and then storms came.  Inches of rain except in Roseyville.  Again a hole came in the system and missed us.  Lisa, little over .05 of an inch.  Glad I kept watering.  This is getting D--- reducilous.  Raleigh got washed out and so did Frankilin County 5 miles away.  One good thing.  Sent to pond.  Saw herd of deer [all does and little ones too].  Then across the pond a 8 pointer came out and drank.  I wistled at him.  He ignored me.  There I was with rifle waiting for beavers.  OH WELL!!!!  Maybe during season.  [sorry LAZ, no room for Yankee hunters Wink [;)]]

John F, great photos of the Grandkids and their goats.  Keep them coming.  they have some grand champion steers too don't they?

BTW: Fires may be suspicious.  Well, maybe more to tell later.

Morning All

Jim- Seldom is anyone available when doing car checks so I turn on the emergency flashers to check turn signals and brake lights; works unless you have seperate turn signal brake lights

Lee-I have a '03 Toyota Avalon w/67 K and before that a Camery that had 250 K when I sold it and never had a major failure.  Also have '04 Honda Civic w/58K that has not had anything but routine maintenance.  Got to love it.

Jeffelectric- Great looking kids.  Goats are fun projects.  When our girls were younger we had goats.

Still tweaking the coaler.  The clamshell does not want to reopen consistantly.  Could the activating soleniod not release all the magnitism and not release the plunger core?

All take care

Morning Folks.

MAde a fresh pot. Lots of rain here in the last three days, more than we've had all summer.  Grass is green again.  When the sune comes out and dries things out I will definitely have to mow again.

 jonadel wrote:

Mitch & Laz--been thinking about you and the beginning of the school year, an exciting time and yet sad as the summer comes to an end.

John F.--also thought about you and meeting you last year at York, received my info yesterday, we loved PA and the meet. We will pass this fall but will be there next year, I think every other year will be perfect for us. If it weren't for the distance we would be there every year.

jonadel - Sounds like a great trip around the lake.  My brother is a motorcycle rider.  Rode his bike from Maryland to Florida and back a few weeks ago.  Talking about a cross country trip next summer with a stop in Sturgis on his way back.  My butt would be so sore I wouldn't be able to sit for a month.

John F - also got the York Notice. Will be mailing it back this week.

PS to York attendees - Don't forget to send a self-addressed stamped envelope for the return of your badge.  I did that a few years back and the meet organizer had no sense of humor... plus I had to wait in a long line to pick up my badge.

It sure is different opening the school year without kids and staff. Makes realize even more that I am not ready to retire, even if I could affford it. Progress on the new school is coming along.  Some delays in getting the siding materials.  Windows are starting to go in. Roof will be going on if it ever stops raining. Electric Co should have full power to the building by end of month. The electrician will start pulling wires when building is secure.  Interior dry wall is started.  Really starting to look like a school.

Have a great day.

Good morning all. I hit the sack early last night and feel much better for doing so. Feels good to catch up on some sleep.

I spoke with the Chief last night about the fires. Told him to call in some real investigators. It could definitely be arson. But it could also be shoddy craftmanship ie, electrical or venting, etc. When houses go up in flames that fast in the same development, something needs to be looked into.  Get some state or federal investigators on the case.

Glad to hear that Lisa had a nice birthday! Today is Carl Yastrzemski's birthday. He is 68. Yaz was my idol when I was a boy. Man, how time has flown by. My wife and kids bump into him (literally) at the market on ocassion. The last time, the boys drove the shopping cart right into him! Happy birthday, Yaz!

JELECTRIC, not much new there, talked to MIKE for about an hour wife went to that consignment shop on 743 Now where this, she loves that place.  Also saw one of your ELECTRIC TRUCKS turning the corner at BARRYs.  Said JOHN FULLERTON ELECTRIC.  Some guy with a beard driving?

CHIEF, How much to boarder there for a week?  In deer season?

In service day for me today and tomorrow.

Good Morning from Blueberryhill....

It is a cloudy 68 degrees. Had some rain last night. Going up to 88 today with a chance of more rain. I sure hope not. I'd like to see a sunny day.

Today is the grocery shopping day. My trip to Cambridge and all the fun packed adventures. Gas prices are still too high. Lowest I have seen, around here, lately is $2.68 a gallon.

Jim Fortner....I'm glad your brake light problem is solved.

jefelectric......Nice looking grandkid's pictures with their animals.

No time for trains today. It would be nice to relax and run some.

Dining Car is here and serving breakfast. Later.

Y'all have a great Wednesday.

Mitch--

There are two trips that I would like to do within the next 5 years, not sure either one will happen but it's fun to dream. The first trip would be the 4 corners trip, it's an actual planned trip and you only have 3 weeks to complete it once you start, yup.... the 4 corners of the continental US. The other trip would just be pure pleasure, ride the perimeter of the US with no deadlines, you would be amazed the number of folks that do that ride---all retired! Some day!

Hey Laz, Maybe you could work on the Chief's layout at night, and hunt deer during the day? I'll bet you could get a lot accomplished there in a week!

Good evening all,

Last night was one of those nights you wish you could bottle and keep forever.  I finally got to see one of the high school teams just absolutely CRUSH another team.  For years I have been going to games and seeing our kids get stomped all over the place.  I got to ring my bell a lot as the team won 8-0.  The main difference was the kids finished their shots.  It was nice seeing that at home and to make the evening even sweeter, "my" soccer girls won on the road as well 2-1.  As I said in an earlier post, this game would say a lot about the team and it looks like it could be a good season.  The girls are home Thursday while the boys take on a potential sectional foe on the road.  By the way, it is hot and humid again in SE Indiana.  My wife and I went to the YMCA and did some track time.  Once again, it was the usual fare at breakfast on the dining car as it heads to "Points East".  I hope everyone has a good day.

Keep on training,

Mike C. from Indiana

Dropped the car off at the mechanic... drove him to FiL's so I could get the truck for the day... hate being without wheels... during the trip he says it feels like a bent rim, warped rotor, or something else is bent under the front of the car... either way I should know today what the problem is and what the fix is... if it is brakes I'll pick up the car and do that myself, if it is rims I'll pick up the car, order the new rims, take it to my tire guy and have the new tires remounted on the new rims, if it is something else I'll have him fix it... still have to find out about the drive shaft... fun...

Now I'm hungry... where's the dining car?

JimF - glad you got your light fixed!  We have people driving around over here with taillights out, brake lights out, turn signals that don't work... drives me nuts!  One thing I can't figure out is... we have a law in MD that when your wipers are on your lights must be on... why can't the auto manufacturers have the lights come on automatically when the wipers are on?  If you use the mist feature they should not... doesn't sound too difficult to me... although they would probably charge you $2,000 for that 'feature'!

Chief - You would rather go to LA instead of York? Shock [:O]  Gotta find out what is going on with those houses... if all the new houses in Roseyville burn down before they are finished building them, it is going to be difficult for new people to move in...

JimA - I'm sure Yaz doesn't mind being run over by two boys pushing a shopping cart... he probably just laughs it off and smiles... then as he is walking away he thinks to himself 'Now why can't that guy control his darned kids! Probably has them do that to me on purpose!' Wink [;)]

Doug - Hope the eye heals up good!

Laz and Mitch - Best of luck with the upcoming school year!

JohnF - Great pics of the grandkids.  I always like going to the state fair and seeing the 4H exhibits... Not sure I would let a goat sleep on my lap... looks painful! Shock [:O]

A good morning to all.  About to head to the fair and the beef cattle competition, it is under-roof at least.  Still drizzling here, but we were fortunate not to get the rain like the mid-west.

Laz, does the GW have TMCC?  I guess you mean the shop just off the 283 exit?  I have been retired from the business for almost 7 years, don't even know all the employees anymore.  Just the old timers, there are a few with beards.  Looks like it is back to work for another 9 months or so.

Chief, I thought you were retired, what is this working YORK WEEK

Take care,

Good morning from a clearing and muggy Chicago where I am recovering from being awakened at 3 am by a strong storm that blew all kinds of things over. The pressure change from the front actually woke me up with a headache. I got a bit of sad news last eve too; one of our friends lost their son in an accident last night. He had just started working for Com Ed and was electrocuted.

John F, those sure look like some championship goats. I noticed our county fair turning into more of a carnival and less of a fair as the farms disappear.

Jon, good to 'hear' from you. That Great Lakes circle tour sounds great. I see a fair number of bikers during the summer heading north along Lake Michigan.

Jim A, hope your med check went well yesterday. So you got that Marx engine to run after all?

Chief, out here there is a significant vandalism problem in newly building subs - including arson. Of course, the collapse of the housing market is finally being felt here...

Good Morning All,

70/86 today with sct. t/showers air is heavy, sky clouds. I'd like to be able to say that until next spring, but. When I check my boat trailer lites, I turn on the four way and parking lites and everything should work. Quick check around and you can do it alone.

I liked the pictures of the kids but was wondering why they were wearing fur coats so I looked again and saw it was about the OTHER kids in the pictures.sorry, silly me.

My next door neighbor has woodchuck troubles and is getting a cage from the city to try to catch it. She has all kinds of wild greenry across the back of her lot, no telling what is in there. she is trying to involve me and I reminded her it was in her yard not mine.  LATER,

A good day to all on the pot!

Hope everyone is doing well this fine day.  I think Kevin finally opened the door and our highs are down to the upper 90's today.  Not much going on, I am on call and have a few cases this afternoon.  It is nice to be able to relax a little while prior to going in.  Usually, I am up and out the door at 0430.

Brent, know what you mean about loving the cars.  Have my wife's 94 Accord, my old 94 Bronco that never give me any problems, then I have a Mercedes that every time I bring it in, it is another 1100-1200 dollars.  The thing is, it drives sooooo well.  We were ready to get another, but wife wants..........oh, I can hardly stand it..........a mini van.  I can hear the song now, "married man, married man, gets around in a mini van".  Anyway, we shall see.  As long as it is Hers, I guess I can live with it.  I just don't want to drive the thing!

Doug--
We dropped down quite aways into Michigan (Ludington) and took the car ferry across to Manitowoc to avoid Chicago. We then went back north to Munising for the night but did stop at Lambeau Field and took the tour, what the renovation has done to Lambeau Field is incredible, we were just blown away--it should be a model for any NFL stadium.

I do have two questions for you Michigan natives:

1. What's a Yooper?
2. And what's the deal with all the petunia's along the parking in several "fancy" towns?

I do believe we rode through some real money towns beginning at Harbor Springs.

Yes. The alignment of the armature was off, creating a binding in the gears. I looked at it, slept on it, and figured out what needed to be done to fix it. It was running great last night. Those old Marx locos sure can smoke!

Dennis,
That's just it, the car STILL handles great, gets off the line like a champ, but when you get up to speed... well let's just say a Harley ain't got nothing on my BMW when it comes to vibration!  Really hope they can figure this out.  I found a new rim on EBay for $110.00, or a set of new rims for $379.00 Whistling [:-^] If I can talk my friend into buying my existing rims for $100.00 I think I'll splurg for the new set! Brent, might be something cheap, like a tire out of balance. If it runs fairly smooth at low speeds and vibrates at say 50+, it could very well be.

Jim,
I can only hope!  I had the tires balanced the day after the drive shaft was installed so I would hope they don't come out of balance in less than 2 weeks...

If it is a balance problem, then I'll probably still get the rims, since I know one rim is slightly (and I do mean slightly) dinged on the inside edge.  I've had this happen with other rims, on a much grander scale, and the wheel held the balance for well over 3 months till I found a replacement rim.

... I'll keep you all posted on the out come...

3.  Harbor $pring$...Yup big CA$H.

Old country definition indeed. A few years ago, my grandparents went back to a tiny town outside Naples where their parents were born in 'the pharmacist's house' with a green door. Sure enough, the house was still known that way and still had a green door - going back almost 150 years...

Stockport is all bright, warm and sunny, with temperarures in the low to middle twenties and a light warm breeze. Good to be alive methinks. ERNI is back up and running, but it will not install updates after auto-download and the spell check has defaulted to Froggo (French). The Microsoft help desk is as much use as an over cooked pigs trotter.

On the subject of things revolting, there is a town in Lancashire named Bury which is internationally famed for its wonderful Black puddings (semi dried pigs blood, spices and fat enclosed in intestine to form a large curved sausage) and Pork pies. Personally I don't like the pudding, but on a cold winters day a good hot growler (pie) in a dish of mushy peas and gravy-delightfull. Especially if washed down with a drop of Doctor Robinsons Excellent elixir.
