Morning all.  Wife has packed th whole house to go to Younget's for one night.  Still a pile of toys for me to take tomorrow [she is riding with her two sisters].  Glad she does not travel with me.  Plane would not get off the ground. Sigh [sigh]

Here is one for Don Baker [who likes to pick on me].  Dougsnotagrump is excused from this one.

History Lesson
Do you know what happened this week back in 1850, in California?

California became a state.

The State had no electricity. The State had no money.
Almost everyone spoke Spanish.
There were gunfights in the streets.

Basically, it was just like California today, except the women had real
boobs and the men didn't hold hands.

Whistling [:-^]Laugh [(-D]

As soon as wife gets gone, will start on a big cup of coffee and then sound board.  Think it is dry enough from the rain we got so boots don't get wet.  Enough damage fro right now.  Hope the best for Revono PPR.  Have a good one.  BTW: check last post of Grayson's Caboose.  That subject will never die but I wish it would.

As for boat houses. I realized last night I made the pitch on the roof too steep... can't walk on it... LOL!  No need to worry about rain standing on it or snow...

Chief - I second that statement...

Good morning from a sunny and slightly cooler Chicago where I spent yesterday helping the bride out of her funk by taking everyone to play mini-golf and then to the Volo Auto Museum where she saw a 1964-and-a-half Mustang convertible she now wants. Kind of. (Most all the cars on display are for sale.). Nice to see the sun after a week of storms. Lots of meetings today. Plan to go see the Sox (White) tomorrow night.

Congrats fife on hitting 1K. Ah, I remember the days of my first 1,000...Smile,Wink, & Grin [swg]

Jim A, I've tried to get rid of furniture this way too - no one wants it unless it is mint - then why would I be giving it away. My current plan is to put it out with the garbage and it miraculously disappears.  As you know by now, never ever ever tell your bride the truth as you 'see' it. I am still learning that lesson too. Morning All

Southern border secure.

Got my letter from Home Decorations, no PE for me. Ashamed [*^_^*], but I can still say I am all American FlyerBig Smile [:D]Whistling [:-^]

As far as the used furniture goes, I pick up and deliver used furniture for our St. Vincent dePaul Scioity, and we are not real picky.  A lot of our furniture we store till some has a need , like a burn out or what ever and we set them up.  A lot of it is not pretty, but servicable.  I remember when we were first married we had a hand me down 12inch black and white TV that set on an orange crate.

We are off to Huston and not taking the laptop so I'll be out of touch till next Wednesday.

Someone else will need to keep an eye on the southern border.

May God bless

Jim, St. Vincent DePaul doesn't want it unless it's like new. Like Doug said, why would I be getting rid of it if it was still like new? The curb is starting to look good for this stuff.

Received a very welcome delivery yesterday.  I had sent a 1688E to Keith (1688torpedo) for a restoration job.  It came back home yesterday.  And does it look good, anyone want to race?  It is truly fast!  Completely rebuilt inside and out.  I wasn't around but I'm sure it didn't look this good when it was new.  I took some pictures last night, but they just didn't come out will take some better pictures today.  It really is awesome!

HI GIZ,

We finally got some much needed rain yesterday, about an inch.

Tough day yesterday here.  The little beagle that I take on walks daily, passed away at 8 oclock yesterday morning.  Hit me hard.  LUCKY was 15 years old and a tough little guy.  Probably his age along with this weather did him in.  It is our neighbors dog, and he is an outside dog, but I have been walking him everyday for about 4 years.  I asked if I could bury him on their farm, and they said yes, so I did yesterday morning.  He will be missed by me.

Yesterday afternoon, buddy called and asked if I can help him get started with his benchwork.  So me and the BROTHER went to bros school ripped all the wood and started on his layout.  Between all three of us got it done with the homesote on top.  Looks real good.  Put an oval on top and lockon transformer and watch train go around while having a cold one or 4.  The demensions are 9x 13.  He is going to run 3 trains, 2 O gauge and an American Flyer.  He's happy.  I got to go down next week to do wiring.

Good morning everyone,

It's an overcast day here, with T-storms expected. We had a downpour that lasted a few minutes last nite, so we did get a good soaking for the front yard which is burning. Ever since we took the two pear trees down, it hasn't looked good at all. We need to find something asap.

I'm praying for RenovoPRR and his family. Hopefully, if there are damages, they will be small. Just happy no one of his family was injured.  I'm also praying for Grayson's brother.

88, I remember a day when my dad and I were cleaning out the gutters. It was a clear beautiful day..........and then it was dark. I was the one on the ladder (my dad was sick a few years back, its hard for him to climb because of his stomach). Anyway, I was on our addition's roof, and I looked at the sky and said WOW!!!!!! My dad was yelling at me to come down, but I said "hold on, I have one more of the tall ones to get done." After that I got down. And was it good timing! A lightning bolt hit a power line in the backyard, sparks flying all over the place. So, I learned my lesson: When the sky is dark, don't take any chances!

Fife, congrats on now 1001 posts!!!

Don, is that going to double as his conference room?

Laz,

Sorry to hear about the little beagle. He's in monkey heaven now...

You guys sure made short work of setting up that benchwork. Too bad you don't live closer to the Chief!

Let me ask you guys a question. If you buy a post war item at a hobby/train store for far below what you know it is worth, is it unethical? Is it your responsibility to say, hey, that 2343 set should sell for more than $89.95, I'll pay you 4 times that much? Or do you buy the piece and consider yourself fortunate to have come across it for that price (again in a retail store)? I'm of the mind that if one comes across a deal like that, take advantage of it. It's not my fault if the store owner or the sales person doesn't know or care about it's true worth. Opinons, please - as long as they agree with my own of course. Smile,Wink, & Grin [swg]

Jim,

If his price is lower than what it should be, I would take the product. It's not my fault that he doesn't now how to price a certain item.

I'm surprsed they didn't tell you but the smoking jackets are my department.  Please send a check for $1,582.95 so that we can start working on it ASAP.  No measurements are necessary.

Laz, sorry about the loss of the pup.

New problem.  Engine only smokes when you hold down the ALT 9 key.  When you let up, it quits.  Anybody ever seen this before?

Jim, the retailier may have other motives to decrease the price that you don't know about. If it is clearly marked and does not appear tampered with, the price is right.

Sorry to hear about that. As this is my first dog, I can't bear the thought of that happening to BB the beagle. I'd probably be too broken hearted to get another.

Sound to me the store owner may have been motivated by Cash Flow....... I once picked up at MTH PS2 Big Boy (new in the box) for about 50% of MSRP.  Hobby shop was well aware of the value it had been sitting in the back room for a long time, and had a $695 tag on it.  Other customers were ooh and aweing.  Dealer said he just wanted to get rid of older inventory.

Brent - In my ONE trip to York in April, Miller Engineering WAS there.  Actually they made me PAY for a catalog ($3).  But I DID want it.
