Good Morning from Blueberryhill....

It is a warm 76 degrees with sunshine. Going up to 93 today with sun and a chance of a later shower.

Today is grocery shopping day. I will drive to Cambridge and see how the prices have gone up in the last week. Gas is still at $2.78 a gallon there. The price in Caldwell is usually 20 cents higher. Only 15 miles apart.

No time for trains today. I need to finish up the mowing in the front yard. Got the rest mowed, yesterday.

Dining Car has arrived and breakfast is served. Usual menu.

Y'all have a great Wednesday.

Chuck

Good morning all,

It is hot and humid in SE Indiana with temps in the 90s again and no relief in sight.  Before I forget, congrats to Brent on the "possibility".  Kids are great and grandkids are even better.  I was busy last night.  My wife and I went to the YMCA.  I also went to the soccer fields to check on the high school teams.  I was doing some other errands and met all sorts of people I had not seen in a while.  It was a good evening.  It was the regular fare for breakfast on the dining car this morning.  I hope everyone has a good day.

Keep on training,

Mike C. from Indiana

Thanks guys... I am really anxious to find out...

Looking forward to getting away for a couple days... need a break from the work.

Fife - yes My shed is looking good!  Hope to fill it early next week.

The roof is going to be a bear.  I really hope to get the rest of the siding up tonight after work, then tomorrow get the roof underlayment in.  That is key.  If I get all that done, then I'll be able to stock the shed, lock it, and park 2 cars in the 2 car garage!  What a concept!

So... last night Susan and I were talking over dinner (she loved the green beans).  Next spring, after the income tax return comes in, we are going to reinvestigate the garage situation.  I told her we may want to see about adding a third stall to the two we have now (bump out the front of the garage by 12 feet, retaper the roof (there are two dorky dormers above the garage that aren't serving a purpose and the roof is rather steap, so shallowing the slope should not be an issue), and hopefully getting some storage above the garage.  The third stall would also have a door that 1 foot wider, and 1 foot taller than the existing two doors.  Wonder if it would be a huge deal to change the other two (probably not worth it).

Gotta run... have some school work to complete before going to Minnehaha...

Mike, your comment about grandkids got me to thinking about a quote I heard a couple years ago...

Mornin' boys.  Back in business!  Saucey outside already.  Let the collie out for 10 minutes;came back in with a "that's all I'm doing today" look.

mitchelr - my middle daughter uses the term e-ddicted.  Nice school photos.  BTW, did you visit Romney yet?

POLAR EXPRESS fans, listen up!  I went to my local Michael's this weekend, and of course they already have their Halloween stuff on display already.  LEMAX has an item called Halloween Wolf Pack ($19.99).  It has 5-6 wolves perched around a den cave, and is lit up with a soft blue light.  It is a must have for anyone doing a Polar Express themed layout.  Check it out.  I was almost tempted to purchase one myself, but went for the trashcan bandits and Gazette paperboxes instead.

88 - gotta ask...Which work do you need the break from...?

Fife - I got it! Wink [;)]

yes they do.  Check out BestBuy.

If you have a home theater, I highly recommend the Moster products as they provide a warranty for the components.  If you can splurge a little a line conditioner, which regulates the power more cleanly and removes the RFI and EMI from the current, will provide a much crisper sound and video.  I'm asking for one for X-Mas this year! Wink [;)]

This is what I want for my home theater...

BRENT, CONGA on the news.  Got to get another TCA membership form?

MITCH, nice pics on the school. good luck.

  FIFE, glad your running again.

Good morning from a grey and muggy Chicago where it's supposed to rain later tonight. Our area got a few inches Monday night. The middle boy comes back from camp in the wilds of southern Indiana tonight - he was probably within 50 miles of Mike C.

Brent, congratulations on the "possibility."  Lots of the restaurants in town ship deep-dish pizza direct across the country. Get one for your bride. Wink [;)]

Kurt, we go to a local place in Crystal Lake for our pizza. Genos, Giordanos and Pizzeria Uno and Due are local chains and good as well. We went to Pizzeria Due on Sunday.

Problems in Red Sox Nation? You should be on the South Side of Chicago where the White Sox have finally decided to play some ball - though they blew a nice chance to beat the Tribe last eve. No one down on the farm too. I'm going to Saturday's game anyway.  And Go Bears!

Yes! 1978 all over again!!!! It's like a Nam flashback for Pete's sake!

No need to apologize for being a Yankee fan. People can't help the way they are born. We are all God's children. Even Yankee fans.

Chief, drink plain water. Better for you in that heat. And hey, it could be worse. It could be me in that heat!

Brent - You gotta slow down your wearing me out, with the shed, all the projects done, etc.. Your setting that bar to high!!  I'm glad my wife doesn't read this forum.

BTW  advise --- next time you make a list of projects, start off with at least 15 or 20 that are already complete, that way you get a sense of achievement lot sooner.

Good morning everyone,

Brent, congrats on the hopefully new person in your life. How much is that surge proector that you looked at for your computer?

Well, it is going to be a really hot day here. Another day that I will not do outside work.

I hope everyone has a good day!

Colin,
It is a battery backup for the computer (UPS), you can also add another unit to it to extend the opperating time... Do a Google search for 'APC BR1500' and you will see them in the $185+ range, then extra battery is the 'APC BR24BP'.

Laz57 - thanks, brother.  Just can't get my day started without reading how "Laz-camp" went.

88 - thanks for the links,B.

dbaker48 - Mrs. fifedog does read 88's "to do" list.  AND she has visited El Rancho Liester, to witness the progress first hand.  I had to stop somewhere and get her a double-dip icecream cone on the way home, because all I was hearing was "Brent does this---Brent does that---blah-blah-blah..."   Gotta hand it to him, he tackles every task first rate.  When he does get around to that layout, watch out!!!

Doug,

What city was the camp close to?  I can tell how far away it is from Greensburg, but I don't know of any real close to here.  There used to be a Boy Scout camp close to Madison, but I don't know if it still operates or not.

I stopped at the train store today after work and bought a girl's train NYC boxcar for Julia. I figured it would save me the trouble of making one, and it was 40% off. Also bought some lead weights for some of the lighter cars we have. Saw a great looking HO B&M hopper and it gave me some ideas...

Not much else. Time to run some trains!

Thought for today.

The thought just occurred to me that most of us older types who grew up before the Internet was commonly used, somehow met our sweethearts without the aid of Match.com or eHarmony.

I don't know how we managed to pull that off?!

Here's how I did it. I was at a cookout many years ago. As I was stuffing my face with bar-b-q chicken, I looked up from my plate and saw a young lady sitting in a chair a few feet away. She was wearing shorts and a tank top and looked incredible. So as I was looking at her, she looked up at me. The very first thing I said to her was "hey, you've got great looking legs". She laughed even though it was true and we have been together ever since. That was 16 years ago.

I was separated and having the single life [except two kids living with me in apt, but where there was a will, there was a way Wink [;)]]  My wife was my secretary.  She knew all about "nice" honeys I was getting around with.  One day I asked her to go to dinner with Frankie and I.  She said yes.  Then didn't show and had some excuse.  Next weekend, both kids were to be at their Mom's.  Lady [ex-neighbor and old time friend with big b~@#^] called me for a "weekender" and Pam knew it and her.  Something happen to one of her kids and she had to cancel at the last moment.  Did not tell Pam.  Monday at work I acted as if I was "worn" out.  Next weekend she came driving up and Frankie and us went to dinner.  After dinner, she named them all and said you are not to see them again if you date me.  Been together ever since and no, I never saw the others again []had to ask sevral to leave the apt door after that].

Evening all,

Hot in Southern Ohio.  It was 102 as  I was cutting grass.  Good breeze off  the rivers so didn't feel much hotter than 95 Whistling [:-^]

I met the love of my life in 1972 in high school.  I was skipping class and met her in the hall as I was heading to the locker room  She was from the "nice" group of kids and I figured her for a hall monitor.  I started talking with her and really got to liking her and started dating.  The rest is "happily ever after . . . Wink [;)]

May God bless your needs
