I just ate my lunch. A turkey sandwich, a banana, and a bottle of water. Do I know how to eat like a king or what?!
So Sound Commander boards...who has one? Was it easy to install? Worth it? Give me the dish on these things.

Don, I am jealous of your weather. The bride, who has lived in Illinois all her life, wants to move (someday). Not me. Fortunately or not, I just can't up and transfer somewhere. I like the four seasons - Hot, Cold, Freezing, and Cold. When I hear of fire ants, forest fires, clouds of grits, I'm pretty happy here. Jim, you're eating lunch early - it's just 1030 in the morning I have lunch and dinner packed for today - left-over deep-dish pizza, chicken and cous-cous (which is something like rice.) Mmmm.

Yep, we have one of the best climates in the country, (second only to San Diego). However, I think it is one of the worst places to live. Primarily due to quality of life.
Most of you enjoy your neighbors, have access to "rural" areas within 30 minutes or less. Can get to a "semi" crowded area without a lot of trouble. Here the "me" community is definetly in place, no-one is very friendly or cordial. EVERYONE is concentrated on the buck, and will not give an inch. The overall quality of life is far removed from what I remember of times past. I would be out of here in a minute if I could convince the wife. Maybe when our son finishes college and establishes a career we will relocate, one can only hope. In the meantime I will follow in the mold of everyone else here and establish my cacoon of refuge in the train room, and enjoy the friendship, and coordiality of people in the "Heartland" through the forum.
Wow, that's pretty heavy stuff so early this morning. So enjoy have a great day!
Now to return to normal broadcasting!
Don
Jimbo--I have installed a Sound Commander in my CNJ Beep. It took me all of 45 minutes and thats only beacuse I can't read instructions. Plugged right in and sounds great, runs good. They really don't like my PW KW, sorta likes my CW. They have a list on what x-formers work and don't on the Sound Commanders, but generally, I'm very happy with it. I also thought about replacing some of the whistles on my PW tenders with these boards. I may rethink what x-formers I use and replace them....in the next 10 years!
Don, my brother (USMC Oceanside some years ago) expressed the same things you did and the fact that housing was outragious. Come back East, you'll like it, just not FLORIDA!!!
I am the monster in your head...And I thought you'd learn by now, It seems you haven't yet.I am the venom in your skin --- Breaking Benjamin
Don, A big double !!!!!! Don't ya' just love the "Hooray for me and **** everybody else attitude".
It isn't just the LA area either, at one time we lived lived next to acres and acres of citrus and avacado groves. You notice I said "at one time", now the entire I-15 corridor is developed and rapidly moving inland.
Enough ranting, back to the yard work.

Jim, ERR Sound Commander is very straight forward to install. I have Jon's Beep Commander kit giving full TMCC and sound to the RMT Beep. Well worth the cost.
Jon now works for Lionel, he has some sort of arangement that allows him to keep ERR going as his own.
When funds allow I am going to upgrade my Williams scale hudson with one of Jon's kits.
Had the BBQ out again tonight as the weather was good.
Chief, glad you liked our power solution. Sorry about the grits abuse, remember us English are friends of the South

Thanks, Nick. I just read over the instructions, and it doesn't seem too difficult...I think...
If I ever buy another Williams steamer, it would be the scale Hudson 773. What a gorgeous locomotive.
Doug,That looks incredible... maybe I should have you overnight me one! Just finished fixing my mix up from last night on the shed, installing 4 rafters, 1 cross member, 1 roofing underlayment, and 2 sections of siding... I have to get the siding installed to add extra support, and install the last two cross members for the roof, then add some extra support beams and I should be good to go. Have the one section of roofing underlayment inplace, so when I can climb on the roof I can cut it to length, measure and cut the rest of the sections... they are so heavy I would rather measure and cut on the ground to reduce the weight!Off to make the Mrs some b-b-q chicken, green beans, saurkraut, and rice... these strange cravings get weirder and weirder...
Brent - is she sending you out for pickles and icecream in the middle of the night???? I think you are trying to tell us something???
Got an email from Lionel and I'm EXPECTING a special LITTLE BUNDLE myself on Thursday - but mine's a toy train!
Are you EXPECTING anything in the future - say a few months from now???
Enquiring Minds Want to Know!
RIP Chewy - best dog I ever had.
Jim,Nothing has been confirmed yet, but she has been nauseated for the last 4 days, has been having strange cravings for the same, hasn't been able to get enough sleep, and has incredibly bad gas... LOL! We THINK she is, but we are not certain, we have to wait a couple weeks to run the test to confirm... but all signs are pointing to the affirmative... According to Susan, if she is pregnant, then it has to be a boy... 'because girls don't smell this bad' I'm TRYING to hold off on any announcements till we confirm one way or the other... but it is VERY, VERY hard...
Brent, best of luck to you and the Mrs. Go to the drug store and get a pee tester. Then you will know for sure.
My wife never got strange cravings or nausea. But the gas....ho! Reading your posts and seeing all you do for your wife, I'd say she's a pretty lucky gal.
I got suspicious with your post yesterday and now this one was just too much!
Finding out early is good and bad -- we found out the first time when my wife was like 1 month pregnant and the wait seemed like forever! Good luck, I'm sure you'll be a great dad!
Hmmm - now that I think about it, we got pregnant just before moving into a new house!
Gotta watch Hot Fuzz so I can return it to Blockbuster tomorrow - TTFN

Oh brother!...
Hey, Percy ran much better tonight. Ran for over an hour without stopping unexpectedly. I did oil the side rod guides after they started squealing. Also ran James the red engine...and some HO crap. That HO stuff annoys me. Look at it crosseyed and it derails.
Ooooh, Stifler's mom is at the door again. Gotta get going. Brent ol bean, your fun has just begun.

Brent, I know what you are talking about....for a few reasons, we waited for two months before we told anyone. First, I was switching jobs, and second, we were both considered older by some theories AMA was on my wife's chart....no, it did not mean "Against Medical Advice", instead, it was Advanced Maternal Age. We wanted to make sure things looked good before telling everyone.
Congratulations.....may everything go smoothly.

Good night all. 5:00 comes early. I just won an eBay auction, walked away from 2 others because of a lack of interest. Time for bed.
Enjoy your sleep now, Brent!
Brent: That's great news! We (she) just had our second...about 6-months ago. Still not sleeping thru the night.
My wife had the nausea, but not the cravings. We'd be off to a party or something, she'd get sick in the hosta's next to the car and say, "OK let's go!"
Good luck to the both of you!...Let's see....that would put you out about March 17???
We signed-up at the babycenter.com site. Received e-mail play-by-plays of the developing child, and a lot of free stuff.
Doug: Where did you get the pizza from??? We always go to Geno's in the basement off Michigan Ave.. Where do the locals go?

OH NO!!!! Another Brent coming into this world.
Evening all. Finally got three sheets [5X4] of soundboard down to get one layer on right side of big room. Used big bottles of Elmers waterproof carpenter's glue and put big box in middle. 30 minutes later, stuck down good. No screws. Kept getting phone calls every time I came in the house. Now got two meetings Thursday AM. Sure was hot today. Guess the phone calls gave me time to cool down as cutting sheet outside. Could cut them with sharp utility knife. I did some trimming with my floding knife I carry on my belt. Main problem is getting sheets upstairs and in doorway. Setup saw benches and Craftsman roller stands. Put sheet of plywood on sawbenches to give support. Cuts with fine toothed jigsaw blade. I did cut upside down to insure smooth cut on up side. Hope tomorrow to get lots done. Think I will turn phone off. Popcorn time.

Evenin' boys. Just dropping in again to check the board. Missing the coffee pot, but I've been spending my time in e-pergatory working on the layout. I have mocked up some of the town and finished the Eckhart Jct. bridge.
Thanks for the "basket of cheer" cnw1995,mitchelr,laz57,et al. Ms. Kelly installed the new modem tonight, but tells me the Dish DVR is also acting up...fun-fun-fun.
88 - my shed is looking good. Oh, and BTW, nice shooting partner...
Well, Hot Fuzz was pretty funny but BLOODY! Lots of character actors you've seen before plus Timothy Dalton - didn't know he was in it. Prayers for those miners.
We've had 100 degrees each day and supposed to be that way until the weekend, when a cool wave moves in and we get down to 98....
Oh, Blueberry Hill - those Docksiders are very nice locomotives. You won't be sorry if you get one! I've got 3. One came with a bad coupler, but Lionel mailed a new one and I had it in a week.
John S - there is left over chicken in the fridge, but getting low on treats. I think there is a bag of popcorn left though!

Evenin' All !
88, Congrats , it has been a long while back but my wife went thru h**l initially. The only thing she could keep down was BLT's and wouldn't you know it all kinds of family came down to visit. Of course they all had to take us out for dinner, here we are all eating all kinds of hi-end foods and she has to get a BLT. We both agree that it was truly worth it. Especially since we have a grandchild who is an absolute joy. He will be spending the nite with us on thursday so we will be sharing a pizza and watching the garden train run.
Doing some yard work today and discovered why some of my Malbu lites weren't working. These **** gophers had eaten one side of about a four inch piece of the low voltage cable.
Chief, Got a suggesstion for your soundboard, instead Elmers glue how about Vinyl Wallpaper Paste.
PS- DougM, that deep dish pizza looks darn good, I haven't made one in a long time, think I'll dig out my bread making cook book.
Hi everyone !! Just home from work, headed to Jim's, since The Chief probably finished off all the popcorn !! I'll pick up some treats for Chewey !!
88 Brent : congratulations early too !! We were married for almost 2 months & the wife got awfully sick, took her to the emergency room & that's when we found out she was pregnant ! We couldn't believe it, since she said a Dr. before told her she would never get pregnant again !!
Well, good night everyone !!
Thanks, John
Morning to All.
Just made a fresh pot. Heat & humidity continues unabated. I just love August.
88 - Congrats to you and Susan. Enjoy the graduation. Hope the sailing gets gets smoother. The shed is moving along really well.
Fife- "e-purgatory" LOL - the Mrs. about went crazy when the computer and internet was down. When I first got a computer years ago, I couldn't get her to use it. Once she started, I now have to beg for a few minutes on-line. My son is a total addict. He starts hyperventilating when he hasn't been on-line for 30 minutes.
Chief - Hope you have a great visit with Dennis and Dr. John. This is your first travel in a good while isn't it?
I have included a link to a little web page I created to show some pictures of the new school. Nothing fancy, but thought I'd share.

Mornin'
Doug: Run a length of 14ga with 15A along side that LV cable. Sure they'd eat it...once.
Up at 4:00am...youngest was hungry. Got new ceramic smoke unit into the 2025, and made a pot of Gaspacho. Hopefully I will have time to put those new rectifier disks into the ZW today...
Good morning from New England where the news is grim. The Red Sox lead is down from 14.5 games to 5. Word is, the team will relocate next year to the Phillipines and be named the Manila Folders...
