Great models on the weisman site!

I'll get a velocipede, and compare notes.  The Weisman is not operational??

Kurt

No, it's not operational, but has very nice, delicate white metal castings. Does make for a great static display. Spankybird told me about their website a couple of years ago.

And they do have some nice looking stuff at reasonable prices.

I've had my velocipede for several months and just haven't been able to find/take time to put  it together.

Being Crazy, keeps you from going "INSANE" !! "The light at the end of the tunnel, has been turned off due to budget cuts" NOT AFRAID A Vet., and PROUD OF IT!!

Afternoon. Hit the train show in Raleigh today. Lots of junk for sale and a lot of overpriced stuff. Still, picked up a very neat K-Line Evans Boat Loader with six die cast cabin cruisers (the car is die cast too; it's a beast and a nice departure from the usual Auto Loader concept) and a Right of Way Industries saddleback 0-4-0, which has led me to post some questions on another thread.

I think I saw the Chief there, but he seemed busy so I did not disturb him.

He was there, but he was in fact busy - looking for postwar rolling stock for me! Wink [;)] From what I hear. it was pretty hot there at the show. The Chief thought everything was too expensive for what it was as well.

I got my observation car fixed. It needed to be rewired. The old wires were cracked. A fun, short project. I owe it all to the Chief!

Jim,

I saw on the other forum that you cleaned up a set of PW 2343s.  I bought a set on ebay, and they are in need of some work.  Could you tell me how you cleaned the bodies?  I am afraid of damaging the red and silver.  Thanks for your help.

Jim, my 2343s weren't in bad shape to begin with. The only real "bad" area was the fan and stack area in the silver part of the top of the dummy. That area was very dusty. I cleaned the trains by first testing the paint on the inside of the shell. The paint was ok with water and Turtle Wax clear coat polishing compound, so that's all I used. I cleaned the dirty areas with water and a soft water color paint brush. Then I polished the paint with the compound. A light touch is important when polishing. If you rub that paint too hard, it's gone for good. So go easy! The compound made the paint shine better than when I got the set. If you would, please post some photos of your 2343s here and I'd be happy to make cleaning suggestions based on what I see. No emails until Monday morning.

I've heard a rumor that Williams Trains have been sold or are in the process of being sold to Horizon Hobbies. If that's true, I think it's a shame. Jerry Williams has done a great job of bringing affordable trains that are reliable to O gaugers. Williams service is first rate as well. We'll see what the future holds.

Good evening all,

IIABSDISEI with temps and humidity in the 90s.  It did cloud up and sprinkle a little, but that was all.  Last night I swept the house.  This morning I did the bathrooms and this afternoon I washed all three vehicles.  I also went to the library and brought home some WW II books and some train hobby books.  I am tired.  I will be watching the Michigan IRL race tomorrow and maybe the F-1 race as well.  I noticed Scott Speed's replacement did not qualify well....hmmmm!  I also ran the 8E upstairs today with both the freight and passenger cars, and for once it ran pretty well.  We had bacon and biscuits on the dining car this morning, and probably will have some more tomorrow for "Points East".  I hope everyone has a good day.

Keep on training,

Jim : I watched Horizon Hobbies grow right from the start & they have been a first rate Co. right from the beginning. Almost anyone in the R/C hobby knows they were the first to really stand behind their products & send you a new one if there was a problem !!  Others soon followed & has made that hobby a lot better today !! I don't think it would be a bad thing !!

Jim:  Sorry to hear about your brother in law.  You have our prayers.

Worked on Velocipede linkage today, trying to get geometries right.  Built some single sided models on wood, and was able to get a throw about 2 scale feet for the push bars.  Comfortable to sit behind, and still reach.  I'm assuming that centrifical force from the wheel mass will be able to force the linkage around.  Otherwise the push bar and linkage locks up horizontally.

Just received my 2466T tender for the 2025.  I have a 2466WX, but I wanted a matching tender so I can add railsounds...Project 3 on the list.

I told my wife that I needed to cool it for awhile on the trains....My wife told me I couldn't stop buying trains...she was right, adding "liar liar pants on fire".  Last night's Disney train didn't help.

THE GREAT JUNK SALE TODAY AT TRAIN MEET.  Did not spend a dime.  What was good was too high priced.  Can get it cheaper on EBay or Choochoo.  Watered until time to go to 4 PM movie.  Did NOT get to see the new Bourne movie.  Got there and line to buy tickets was a mile long and it was show time.  We may try 1 PM tomorrow.  Went with wife to Stien Mart.  Got me a $59 ice cream maker for $16 [with all the discounts].  The kind that does not need ice nor salt.  Freeze the big container, put in "mixings", put in dasher, put on top and plug it in.   Came home and finished watering.  RR called while I was at train show.  Told them I would be gone so they call while I'm gone.  Told wife they WOULD call back.  Is that the phone I hear ringing?????  NO!!!  I fixed it my self but not telling them and not telling how.  Later.

Good Evening Y'all!  Wife and kids got home this evening.  Baths and brush teeth, and we are all heading to bed.  Hope to be a quiet night and day tomorrow.  While I will need to go in and do rounds, I also am supposed to work the lights for Sunday Church.

Chief, why not pull executive privilage and just get to the front of the line.  Ah shoot, they should let you and Pam have a private showing with all the popcorn and soda you can stand.  I hope that the item we spoke of ends up in your collection.  I agree, we are failing misserably in our train restrictions.  While on vacation, we visited a friend of mine who has a collection well into the hundreds of thousands of dollars and Kim told me it will be like ours in a few years.

Hope y'all have a great Sunday.  Looking forward to the SPF.

Good Morning from Blueberryhill....

It is a rainy 62 degrees. Going up to 78, today, with more rain coming. A lot of thunder in the distance.

Today, looks like an inside day. Maybe later, I can go outside and enjoy the cooler weather. Needed rain badly. I will be spending some time in train room. Working on scenery and dusting.

NASCAR race this afternoon. Hope # 20 gets another win.

Baseball at 2 pm from Minneapolis. Need another Indian's win.

Dining Car is here and it's time for breakfast. Later.

Y'all have a great Sunday.

I don't think so, on the west side of Cleveland, price is as low as $2.45 and on the East side its $2.69. Hard to tell how come there is that much differance only 30 miles apart.

And its hard to explane (except for price fixing) that all the station in one area is within 2 cents of each other.

Morning to All.

Yesterday morning I went to local Farmers Market in Hanover PA and stopped at local dealer. Picked up new Lionel catalog and K-Line too. Thinking about going back and picking up a black 1688 he had for sale.  Also thinking about pre-ordering the new Flying Yankee in the catalog. $600 is a little steep for my budget, but I really would like to have one. May do it on lay away, only wants 25% down on order.  Local dealer recommends that I pre-order by end of month to be sure I get one.

csxt30/John - love those billboards. You have me thinking about trying some brass construction. Maybe some flat car loads to start.

Will watch the race later.  Go 24.... Have a great day.

Good morning The rain woke me upCool [8D] I start a new work scheduale Wendsday where I work an 8 hour shift for 3 days and the other two days are off which gives me two days in the week to take care of business with out having to call off. Will miss getting off work at 11:00 but hay a 4 day weekend is better.

I drove Moms new car around it is an 04 grandam and it rides so smooth, not as much head room as my Trans am but should be fine for mom as her 92 eagle summit was in the shop way too often.

I have received the following dreadful weather news from today's paper:

Monday - 98

Tuesday - 98

Wednesday - 99

Thursday - 101

Friday - 96

Shock [:O]

I have lived in central NC almost all my life and would not care to leave, but dang. That's just unpleasant weather. August and February - the two worst months of the year. I am pulling the trigger on a new seersucker suit for court tomorrow.

Afternoon all.  Played lazy today.  Since I "Churched" all last Sunday, I "heathened" today and stayed home.  Watched elk hunting on TV most of the morning [some mule deer thrown in].  Did cook bacon and pancakes for breakfast.  Had maple syrup on pancakes.  Do believe that is the only thing from New England worth a hoot. Wink [;)]  Now to MIL's for a meal.  Tomorrow is shot too.  Got lunch with N&O [big NC newpaper] reporter, County Commissionr meeting all afternoon and Town Board at 7 PM.  Wife going to Youngest's Thursday.  Know I will get layout work done with her gone.  Can pull a Jimbo and work until early in AM.

Hi all,

Maple syrup should be reserved for wafflesWink [;)].

Its been the hotest day of the year so far today in the UK. Got the BBQ out and it did not rainSmile [:)].

Had a couple of results on ebay. Picked up a 1000W 13.8V DC power supply and 1500W pure sine 110/120V 60Hz inverter. Went for the 1500W because it was such a deal.  This along with the 300W setup I already have should power our planed layout nicely.

Have a good evening

Nick12DMC,

I remember having power problems with my stereo when I was stationed in Germany with the U.S. Army, some equipment would work only on 120 volts, most of my stereo would work on either; 120, 220 or 240 volts A.C., had a voltage switch on the back by the fuse holder.  Turntable and cassette player had a speed adjusting knob on it to compensate for 50 or 60 Hertz.  Had to buy a small 220 to 120 transformer for one piece of stereo.

In the U.S. we have power invertors for 12 volt D.C. to 120 volt A.C.  Don't know what you have for household voltage in the U.K.

Maple syrup tastes good on pecan pancakes, don't even think of putting maple syrup on grits!

Internet was down for just over a day on friday, Bellsouth problem.

Did some stuff around the house today, repaired air conditionong drain pipe as it was clogged and crooked, the air conditioning works better now as there is less moisture in the air.

No rain for a couple of days, maybe my weeds will grow again, I call it weeds as most of my grass is weeds rather than real grass.

Still looking for a couple of Lionel passenger cars from almost 10 years ago, #6-15103 & 6-15105 Reading Company. Seems that Lionel sold these as seperate sale items and not as a complete set, have the matching #300 & 304 Reading locomotives.

Good evening all,

It was a hot and muggy day in SE Indiana with no relief in sight.  Besides going to church and trying to watch the Michigan race, did not do much today.  I see where Kanaan won the crash-fest.  Sarah and Darren crashed out and there was a big pileup later on.  Bacon and biscuits were on the dining car this morning.  I hope everyone has a good day.

Keep on training,

Mike C. from Indiana
