Great Photos of that big CSX diesel charging through the South. Would love to see more. A bonus would be seeing CSX running at full speed through Roseyville, NC.
88, most of the time in the summer the room over the garage where the Baltimore, Ohio and Wabash R. R. is located is hot and stuffy. Therefore, I don't spend too much time working on the layout, but I have fixed engines and cars. Currently awaiting part for SD-80 and I am about ready to tear into the K-Line Mikado.

Thanks Buckeye. Here are some details of the trip. We was originally just going to go to Amelia Island Florida for vacation. Then, we ended up going to Folkston, since I always wanted to go there to railfan. Not really out of our way, just 20 minutes from I-95. We got there, checked into the Western Hotel aroud 2:00, and went to the railfan platform at aroud 2:30. During that time, between that and 6:00, we saw 7 trains. After that we ate at a little deli in town. We came back, and saw another 3 or 4 trains, until about 9. (The ones that have dark pics) We came back at 11 the next morning and saw about 5 until 2. I didnt get pics of all of them, but I do have video. It was a very fun trip.
Here is a odd site, sadly I didnt get a pic of it, but it was a blue and red FRA engine, just by itself, like a trolly. Has anybody else seen it?

Wouldn't ya know it, wife is away with the kids, have the house to myself and the dog with plans to work on the layout and I get paged for another emergency. At this rate, it is going to take me longer to finish the layout than it has taken the Chief.
Well, I do hope to get home before too long and get some progress made. Hope everyone has a blessed weekend.

Evening all
Southern border safe as far as I can tell
Hot and humid, rained a bit and just made things sticker. May do some weeding after supper.
Got an email from CTT; they are going to use a tip I sent in in a future issue. That is kind of neat.
Maybe I should not say anything about them mis identifing the AF transformer on page 36 as an 8B; it is a model 8. The 8B has an on light and a "short" light and only 3 posts, base, 15v, and a 7-15 volt post. Maybe nit picking but the 8B is one of my favorite transformers. I could of given them a picture of a nicer one for the picture too.
Bride should be home soon, she has had a rough day, time for a little TLC.
Catch you in the morning
May God bless your needs

Hi guys - Sir James and Doug M, I already ordered the Best Friend last night - can't wait to get it too! Then, I was showing pics of the set to some folks at work and talked about some of the stuff coming up - I think I sold a Hogwarts Express to a lady! She's going to order it for Christmas for her husband, who use to work on trains years ago - they both are Potter fans and she thinks it will be cool around the tree!
Hot and humid here all day, but the promised rain failed to materialize - at least as yet. Working 5 hours OT tomorrow. Picked up a fart fan and another light fixture for the basement. Man - I never knew there were so many kinds of bathroom fans! Since it's for the basement bathroom, I got a relatively cheap one for about $50 with a light. Rated by Home Depot as "Moderate" CFPM airflow and "Moderate" noise. Then to Culvers for a butterburger and two scoop sundae (had coupons).
Dennis - when you are at work, remember to put your best foot forwards!
Colin, you have an XBox 360? Know anyone with a Wii? My son wants one for CHRISTmas and I heard there are some good games coming out include shooter games with a toy gun you can use like in the old days.
Jim (S-Phish) - Way to go! Do you get any $$$?
RIP Chewy - best dog I ever had.

Get a life!!! All he does is put the kids to bed and play trains. Play with the wife once in a while. Do something worth while in your Town or neighborhood. Bet he is chicken to run it through the wall into the rest of the basement and back in. He has a perfect place. Can go through wall, along a shelf and back in at other end of the layout.
So much for beating up on poor Jimbo. Hot and dry. Cleaned the Ranger carpet and seats with SpotBot. Was going to do soundboard but email issues returned. Spent 2 hours with RR again. Still not fixed. Seems it is a Tear3 thing. They will call. It actually was still a problem never cleared from Monday [spent 5 hours on phone off and on].
Train meet tomorrow AM. Think wife wants to see the new Bourne movie tomorrow PM. Watching Broken Trail on AMC. That and Open Range are real westerns.

Good morning and also good night
been on the road from noon to 11pm went to Willard(a very big train town) to finalize a car deal with a relative and of course they all made us stay for dinner Greenbeans and potatoes Kentucky transplants living in the far North regions of OHIO. free dinner and a gently used 04 model year car. And we stoped at the G&R Grill in Waldo to get some world famous bolonga sandwiches a must stop and see if you are traveling north of Columbus Ohio don't serve grits as far as I know but even the Chief would enjoy thier food they have an awsome peanutbutter pie.
Dust still flying out here! Got 1 and 1/2 sections built today, ran out of lumber. Couldn't get more had strict orders to make sure house was aired out, and "dumb bird" had to be outside. Tomorrow AM, gotta go to jewelry mart with wife, then back to building. Should get another section and half done tomorrow. Were moving along!
Had two LED signs, (like the ones in theatres that have the movie name above the specific theatre door) so put them up. One over the layout area, the other over the bar. Completely programmable, alpha, some characters, dot drawings. Really cool. The one over the bar has a slot machine display that rolls randomly and comes up with 3 figures. So far the best has been 3 Cherries, didn't pay anything!
Drew a train for the other one it scrolls right to left, after a welcome sign. NEAT STUFF.
Later.

Well, I am home in time to go to bed and get up early for another case in the AM. Getting tough to work on trains lately. I still have some tractor work too. Got some sad news on one of the guys in our Sunday School. Been dealing with cancer that had been in remission, but is now back in full force and outlook is dim. He is 27.
God Bless,
Dennis
Good Morning from Blueberryhill....
It is a sunny 68 degrees. Going up to 94 today. HOT. This has been a hot, dry summer.
Today, we are driving up to Walnut Creek ( Amish Country ), to meet the Daughter and Family for lunch. Good food is the high light of the trip. We will spend a few hours together.
Spent a few hours, yesterday afternoon, in the train room, working on scenery. Got some area done by new passenger station. Upper level is going to look nice.
Dining Car has arrived and I hear the " All Aboard ". Breakfast.
Y'all have a great Saturday.

Chief: Finally tried chicken mop sauce. Not sure how to take this. Wife said she really liked it, and would be happy with the chicken like this all the time...but, she thought it was store bought. Steamed chicken in sauce for about 20-min. I really liked it. Thanks again.
Don't watch much TV. Sorry...Too many commercials. Started watching 'Build it Big' last night about the natural gas and oil pipe line and refinery projects in South Korea. Got tired of all the commercials, and turned it off after 20 minutes of a "1-hour" show.
Yesterday too hot for the Zoo. Today Hot..off to the waterpark! Work work work...Already watered roses with 2-yo, in her bare feet and 'jamanas.
John: Working on a 3-wheeled operational O-scale handcar. Stuck on functional linkages and rods, and keeping the wheels together.
Dennis: You have our prayers.
Don't know what is going on with this #^*~ software. Everytime I move from page to page it says I am NOT signed in but then goes to my account and it says I am. Would not let me post [just dropped it]. Hope this works now. Off to train meet and then Miss Edna's. Hot and dry. Will have to water this PM. Have a good one. [hope this works this time]
Good Saturday morning from New England!
Wifey's coffee pot caught on fire this morning, and I had to rush it out of the house into the back yard!!! She says the smell is terrible. I have no sense of smell so, whatever. It's out in the backyard smoldering.
We ran trains last night, and I also took some photos of my recent vacation finds. Posted those on OGR. I ran my Williams 2023s with a post war 2400 passenger train consist behind them. The observation car's pickup wire came off so it wasn't lighting. Into the backshop it goes!

HI GIZ,
Hot and humid again. laz CAMP this morning at 0517 took dog for walk then ran a nice 6 miler. It was 70 at 540, to get to 93. Got to beat the heat om days like this. They are calling for 100 on Wed? We'll see?
JELECTRIC, Saw in "THE PATRIOT" peddler section of the newspaper they had a FREE, LIONEL 4x 8 layout with log loader and coal loader with extra track, it is located in ETOWN. I called at 800 and it was gone, DRAT. Did you snag that one?
JAABAT, don't let your wife on this COFFEE POT, she'll put us out of business.
All stay COOL.

Morning all,
I guess Roger B. is not a regular reader here as I've been telling everyone the "best" was available to dealers. I live near the "place" don't hear it all but a little more than many.
We get a break from the 90s till Mon. then it comes back. No trains yet today maybe later.Did you know you can stutter when typing? Did it several times this morning. guess I'll see what else is going on this morning.........Later, Sir James
Good Morning Everyone !!
Kirt : sounds like you're working on a really neat project !! Can't wait to see it !! Is it one like this ?!!
Sounds different as you mentioned side rods & linkage ! This is a chain drive one at our local Museum.
Jim : glad the coffee pot didn't burn the house down & no one got burned .
Dennis : that's sure awful about your friend, so young, we'll be praying for him here too.
Well, hope everyone has a nice day !
Thanks, John
John: Thanks for the photo! Looks close!
Here's the photo I'm working from, and here's my sketch trying to re-engineer. Does this seem reasonable? 'dreadmann' on the Classic Trains forum called it a velocipede.

Looks close to me Kurt !! I imagine there were were many different types !! That will be really nice when you get it done !! I wonder if any of these had trailers to pull parts & tools around with ? !! I wish you the best on this project !!
I do have an idea, maybe mount a little pittman motor under the seat so it rubs the wheel to make it go. You would just have to make a tire for that rear wheel ! Just a thought !!
Here's picture of one that I have & I think there are smaller ones. If they had trailers then, maybe it could go in the trailer !!
This linkage is pure guessing on my part. The photo doesn't look like it has a crankset, or a chain. That's why I came up with this. I've not seen linkage or drive units on any handcars to even base a hypothesis, so I'm improvising. If this doesn't look historical or practical, please let me know. I don't get out to many rail museums.
The trailer sounds like a great idea! Hiding the motor in the trailer will work well, and it will make disguising the pick-up roller(s) easier.
One project at a time...
Thanks for the help.
The velocipedes were basically a "bicycle on flanged wheels" with the third wheel added for stability. Most that I've ever seen use a "linkage drive" similar to what is used on a steam engine,
although there could be some out there with bicycle type drives.(chains & pedals)
Wiseman Models offers one in "O" Scale for about $ 10.00 plus shipping.
Good luck in building a working model, I'll definitely be interested in seeing that one.
Being Crazy, keeps you from going "INSANE" !! "The light at the end of the tunnel, has been turned off due to budget cuts" NOT AFRAID A Vet., and PROUD OF IT!!
Great models on the weisman site!
I'll get a velocipede, and compare notes. The Weisman is not operational??
Hi guys - just taking a break between working "for the man" and working "for the woman" Prayers for your friend, Dennis - May God put His healing hand upon him and his family. Kurt - hope your wife is doing well too. Cool bike/trike project, can't wait to see it done! My O gauge cows (black and white) came today so I put them with the brown and whites and I'm waiting for my daughter to notice. Tupperware lady is coming to confab with my wife - apparently we had a "book show"? Also got my Celebox Celebrity Toy Train video set - need to watch that one later.
Wife is going to see Joseph and the Amazing Technicolor Dream Coat at the Muny tonight (outdoor stage show) along with my daughter. I think my son and I will hang out and watch some movies. Maybe with my buddy Dave, but need to figure that out.
Found out one of my brothers in law (brother in laws?) has some heart problems. They'll do a heart cath in a couple days. He's 35 and had really bad indigestion for days, just getting worse, so went to doc and "flunked every test they had". I suspect he'll get some stents or something, cause they said part(s) of the heart weren't getting oxygen? My mom is going to Atlanta to help out for a couple days.
Just a bit after 3pm and watching "Modern Marvels" on History International. This episode is on bullet trains, but they started from the very first trains and are now up to the acela. I can hardly stay awake......good night.
