Here is a photograph of some guy from NC that used his GPS to find the Horse Shoe Curve. He had stickers on the back the said VOTE FOR MAYOR. Big Smile [:D]

Clown [:o)] I thought you would get a kick out of it. Actually it was a NS vehicle following the freight just prior to the E8's arrival. Maybe it is a good thing there is some extra space beteen the tracks.

Friends watched our kids last night, so my wife and I went out and had a nice roast beef dinner (Arbys - had to get to the theater on time) and saw the new DIE HARD movie, which was GREAT!  Cowboy [C):-)]  Then, this morning we caught up to the kids at swim practice and then us guys and our sons went to see Transformers, which was a great action/sci fi flick Thumbs Up [tup]Thumbs Up [tup]  Then to a couples shower for my baby sister who is getting married in about a month.

I'M BACK

Missed you chief, I really did. I missed all of you and wow I had no idea thier would be so many folks that cared. You guys and gals are so wonderful. I thought about all of you constantly. And well I am home just released tonight about an hr ago I couldnt wait to get on the computer to write you all. I was on my way home yesterday or day before i can recall, kinda all blurry. But i had a little problem yesterday and I am fixed, Um  i think. I was leaking brain fluid and well it really freak jenny out. And the dr rushed me in and assesed me i went unconcious and i woke up and i felt better. Something to do with the tumor, which is gonna be removed in a cpl weeks when my chest heals up which feels alot better too. They told me the details but its not coming to me right now and poor jenny is sleepin, shes been an angel and been threw alot with me. Great gal. So i thought my breastbone had been cracked but wasnt, i was just cut threw, which is better and alot faster recovery. Thank god for that one. So the pace maker was a success and i am feeling so much better its really nice.Cant wait for the tumor to be out of me. Which i was told was a 1-3 day hospital stay. That music to my ears cuz i will tell you the food sucks and i got all the older nurses, they were really nice but  oh nvm......... So i am home taking it super easy. Have a 2lb wieght limit which is rough cuz 2 lbs isnt much. I have been poked and stabbed and i had enough. Turns out i am now hypoglacemiac ( spell?) So i have to poke my self and draw blood every so often. No biggie. But I feel so much better today, they wanted to let me go like 5 hrs ago but theres a certain thing you have to do before they consider letting you go and i couldnt do it for along time. but i am home now,   thank god. Cost me alot to be in the hospital, not the hosiptal it self but jenny's cab rides here everyday and food and she hired a pet sitter my meds, and blah blah blah, 750 bucks out the window real fast.

But i missed all of you and i thank you for your support, I guess they told jenny i wasnt gonna make it threw the night of the 6th. I lost alot of blood and some other fluids that are essintail to living. But guys like i told her im a survivor and im to dang stubborn to die. Besides who'd run my trains?Wink [;)]

Sure is glad to be back n my own home, it never smelt or looked better i have to admit. Well i  am gonna get off here and will catch you guys later tomorrow. Thanks for caring !

This is an awesome family and i am so glad to belong here!

Good Morning from Blueberryhill....

It is a sunny 62 degrees. Going up to 93, today, with sunshine all day. It's gonna be hot.

Zeke......Good to hear you are at home and doing better.  Jenny has kept us posted on your condition. You are in our prayers.

Today, I have to finish mowing the grass. Had a drive belt break, yesterday, and after a few hours , of finding one, got the mower fixed. Hope to mow this morning, before the afternoon heat. Grass didn't grow too much, due to only 2 days of rain showers.

I have started a few projects on signs, for the layout, with a very talented friend of mine. Need to spend some time working on train scenery and cleaning.

Well, Dining Car has arrived and is ready for breakfast. " Points west " has slept in late today, I think. See ya later on SPF.

Y'all have a great Sunday.

ZEKE!  You really had us scared and praying hard - Guess it worked.  So very glad to hear from you and also another THANKS to Jenny for keeping us updated.

With your hypoglycemia - You need to try to keep regular hours, sleep, eat regular meals, limit your carbs, increase your protein and stay away from concentrated sweets (fruits, juices, sodas, cookies, pies, etc.)  Six small meals a day would be good.  Also need to avoid caffeine, alcohol and tobacco.  Search the web for advice and information from a reputable site.

GLAD YOU ARE BETTER!  Snail mail on it's way!

Morning all.  "Hot air from the South."  Keeps you Yanks bogged down as you are not as strong as us Southerners. Whistling [:-^]  Hot and humid but NO RAIN. Sad [:(]  Off to Ekerds.  75% off on all their named products.  Rite Aid has bought them out.  Would not be surprised they closed the store in Roseyville.  Not many folks there.  CVS seems to take all the business [been here for years].

Zeke, your integrity is being questioned in another thread.  I always try to trust someone.  Now if you are jerking us around, GOD IS LISTENING.  Becasue of that, I would not want to be you.  Hope you are being straight with us.  Lots of folks have laid their hearts out to you.

Laz [and SA, Jim A], number of total posts means nothing.  Lots of folks on here don't have the extra time or started later so their numbers are nopt high.  Does not mean they are not needed and their advice is not good.

Speaking of that New England Wise Cracker, hope he has a good Baptism and woild you believe this, he is going to be the God Father. Shock [:O]  All he wants is the good food. Wink [;)]

Zeke, Glad you're out and on the road to recovery.  We lifted you up in prayer.  Also working on some prayer and packages for the guys in Kuwait who are in rehab to head back to the fight.  A friend owns "Ranger Joes" and he will include these items for the troops.

Hope everyone has had a good day.  Church was great, talked about how we raise our kids.... lots of good information.  Have "Mary Poppins" on the tube for the kids and wife is out shopping for our up coming trip to Jersey.  I am at my command post watching over the brood and waiting till time for evening church.  I start call in the morning.  Hope to get some train time in this week, but have a commission committee meeting to get to, etc.

Take care, Y'all,

Dennis

I had another great day I just love the E 8. The crowd was light for the first run and the bad thing was the E 8 went through the curve between two freight trains on the way up. I later made stops at Galitzen, Cresson, Lilly and Cassandra.

I never could shake that disappointed feeling all day though. However thinking more about trains made me forget about it. My two-day total of Photographs is 387.

Well just to show you there are other interesting trains at the curve I leave you with this photograph.

PS: if anyone is in need of a guided tour of the area let me know.

My heavens yes there is. An unknown and close to the action place is the train station downtown Johnstown. You can just walk through the front door go all the way to the back and up the steps. You are smack in the middle of the tracks.

There are several places near a very small town Cassandra, Pa. The most popular is a old iron bridge that once was part of old RT 53. It is call Cassandra Overlook and the main feature is a rail cut and the longest straight away on the line. Not far is the Jamestown Bridge.

The town of Cresson has a whole section of town that is for the railfan. This is another section of the track you can get up and close to the trians.

There are cool stone bridges located in Summerhill and Mineral Point.

I guess there are just way too many places to mention. All of the above places are West of the Horse Shoe Curve with Johnstown the longest distance. it is about 30 minutes from Johnstown to the Horse Shoe Curve unless your like me then it becomes a day trip.

Let me know if you want to take some photographs if I'm free I can take you.

Renovo, Thanks for pointing out that the engines are E8s not E7s, as usual I was confused.  BTW there is a site with lots of pictures of Juniata Terminal Bennett Levin's Company.  Also I think the Chief's SUV is on the right of way for the old track #2 that was removed some time back.

Zeke,  You need to follow Lisa's & your Dr's advice.

Buckeye, I just read that a lot of roads put the snow plows on, not to plow snow, but for grade crossing protection.  They tend to push the offenders off to the side rather than drag them on down the track as they do with the exposed frame.

Afternoon all! Back from a week on the Tennessee River and Lake Chickamauga. Lot's o' boating, fishing (Didn't catch anything significant), swimming, eating, and imbibbing various elixirs! About 40 folks (lot's o' kiddos) there this year with out of town and local visitors. Got enough rain to do the annual fireworks extravaganza - but we did cut back and we were able to get a couple of local firemen to bring their gear in case something happened.

Hopefully Dr. John and Dennis got some rain. The entire drive through Ala. and Miss. yesterday was in the rain (about 5 hours of driving in the rain). Ugh. Spent 10.5 hours driving yesterday so we are really tired and taking it easy today.

It has not stopped raining here. T-Storms and some heavy rain all morning today and maybe more this afternoon. Water restrictions are being lifted. My yard is a swamp.

Good to see ol' Zeke is pulling through so far - what a week for him.

Have a great evening all!

Regards, Roy

Spent afternoon with wife.  She went to mall, ate, looked at SUV's [she suddenly has taken a liking to the Saturn one] and went to movie Evening.  Now for some relaxation.  Guess Apitz is still partying it up at his SIL's.  If not, the mouth would be on the forum. Laugh [(-D]  Hey, we did raid Eckerds drugs and got thing 75% off.  Right now I'm working on an Eckerds atomic fire ball. Big Smile [:D]  Probably paid $.24 for a whole bag.  Too bad they don't have Eckerds trains. Sigh [sigh]  Later.
