Jim.....Entirely too much information.  BTW, until you messed things up by getting a computer, we had nominated you to be in the next Geico Commercial.  Guess we will have to recind it.

Long day, getting longer.  Heading out for Mexican food as a friend of the brides whom we have not seen in some time called.  Oh well, too hot to cut grass anyway.

Dr. John, make sure she keeps that leg from flexing too much.  She will have to get up and move around to keep from any DVTs but don't over do it.  Also, don't be suprised if it takes a good while before she has no pain in the insertion site.  It is right by some ligaments and a major flex point.  The probably used a closure device which makes a little "plug" make sure you check it and that nothing scrapes against it until it is healed.  It can bleed quite a bit, so be careful.  This is all precaution, don't get in a panic.  I just want it to be smooth for her.

Dennis

PS: that is fantastic news!

Good evening all,

IIABSDISE with temps in the 90s.  Had another Friday off and got the chores done so tomorrow is a free day.  Dr. John, I am glad to hear your wife is ok.  I missed the post where you explained the situation, but I had read about all the concerns and prayers.  I can see why everyone was so worried, and I am happy the prognosis is good.  Some one asked about Lucas and he is doing ok.  His second semester grades were nothing to write home about, but he did ok.  His girlfriend was over here for about four hours today.  I also drove around the construction at the Honda plant.  It looks like they are starting to lay track in the yard.

My first Tinplate purchase in several years arrived yesterday.  I bought a 512 gondola from Hollywood Station and it looks nice.  The price was reasonable and the  delivery was quick.  I hope to run it tomorrow morning when it is cooler upstairs in the attic.

Zeke, that is good news about the pool and I hope your train friend gets better.  Jim, that is way TMI about the commando Friday.  Buckeye,  how about some Old Style beer for your underage friend?  That is some really bad stuff.

The dining car had bran muffins on it this morning.  I hope all the stops between here and "Points East" had their fill.  I hope everyone has a good day.

Keep on training,

Mike C. from Indiana

Chief, you can read me like a book.  Wow!! Just returned from volunteering at the Blues and Jazz Festival.  Mrs. Buckeye and I worked the information booth.  Needless to say, the booth contained a sign promoting TIME WARNER CABLE.  Several people were looking to have a chat with Time Warner about their cable service.   We directed them to the official Time Warner booth, where they wanted to complain.

Question [?] Last year when we were in Colorado, the Royal Gorge train ride had the option of a cab ride.  Does anybody know other tourist trains with the cab ride option?

Great news Dr. John!!  P.F. Chang's is a great restaurant especially for lunch in the winter.

Great news, Dr. John!  BTW, DVT = Deep Vein Thrombosis or blood clots.  Coors is okay - used to love the commercials with ELVIRA (aaaaooooooooogaaaahhhh!!!) - ever see the movie Elvira's Haunted Hills?  Mischief [:-,]  Glad Lucas is doing well.  How is your son doing, Don Baker?  Did he get his air horn working?

Went out for dinner tonight - Steak, Salad, Steamed Veggies, and some ice cold Bud Light Dinner [dinner]  Oh, and some Bloomin' Onion, but it wasn't cooked just right.  Time to work on my track plans again.  TTFN!

Good evening,

Jim, The box cab is a diesel, not an electric.  It is considered the first production diesel made.  The original is in the B&O Museum in Baltimore.

Here is a blurb about it that is in the MTH catalog.  As far as I know it is correct.

While the 1350 hp Electro Motive FT was The Diesel That Did It - retired the steam engine - this was The Diesel That Started It. The 300 hp Alco-GE-Ingersoll Rand boxcab was the first production Diesel-electric produced in North America. General Electric had been experimenting with internal combustion rail power for nearly two decades when, in the mid-1920s, it formed a partnership with Ingersoll Rand and Alco to manufacture Diesel-electrics. GE made the traction motors and generator, IR supplied the diesel motor, and Alco built the mechanical parts. In the summer of 1925, the Central Railroad of New Jersey bought the first boxcab demonstrator, and CNJ #1000 became the first production Diesel-electric owned by an American railroad. In December, the second engine in the production run became Baltimore & Ohio #1, and orders soon followed from the Chicago & North Western, Reading, and Erie. The Diesel revolution had quietly begun.

CNJ 1000 had a three-decade career switching the Bronx Terminal Yard, acquiring a Jersey Central Lines "Miss Liberty" paint job along the way. In 1957 it went to a well-earned retirement at the B&O Railroad Museum in Baltimore. B&O #1 had an equally long career in Manhattan and is preserved today at the Museum of Transportation in St. Louis.

Laz, I ordered this one from Ted.  I try to give some business to both.  I have an L1 on order from Barry.  Sounds like a nice gun.  I have a lever action chambered for 45 Colt.  A fun gun to shoot.  The grandsons can sure run through a lot of ammo with it.

Doug, I think you are seeing something in the picture that is not there, no pickups on this one. Big Smile [:D] It's a diesel.

Dr. John, That sure is good news.  Good to hear no pacemakers is needed.

Jim (Mich), We got two storms, Tue & Wed evening.  Each dropped a 1/4" of rain.  It helped but we could use more.  Still down for the year, but not in trouble yet.

I'm still working on the LNE FA1 TMCC conversion.  Installed LED head light & LEDs to light the markers, as well as a GOW lamp for a cab light.  GOW operates on reduced voltage at about 1/2 brightness.  Also in process of fabricating a cab from gray ABS plastic to house the cab crew.  Almost done with this A unit.  One more to go.

Take care,

Big Smile [:D]  Have her follow Dr. Dennis's orders.  He doesn't know how to build a layout but he is a pretty good Dr. Wink [;)]  Wife and I went to seafood place [never been before].  BIG plate of fried oysters, shrimp and two big pieces of flounder.  Plenty of sweet ice tea.  Wife ate a cheese burger [she does not like seafood and was born on the coast of VA].  Got bolts to finish smoking the Atlas dummy.  John S, no popcorn tonight.  Too full.  Have a good one.

hey guys and gals,

sorry not much time to respond tonight. I been at the hospital all day. Charles went in for surgery and that went ok. But he also broke 2 ribs and punctured a lung. He is not breathing to well. hes hooked up to all kinds of tubes and machines. Kinda scarey. His wife is being very strong though. She treid to call the kids and tell them but they told her they were to busy to come. His lungs were starting to fill with blood. When she told me they were too busy i asked if i could call them. And well i did. I know it wasnt my place but their only dad could pass on, its a possibillity. So i call they said they had to many meetings and deals.

SoapBox [soapbox]

I told them to get their tails down here. their dad might die. Again no remorse or anything. (And me having lost all my family and never had the chance to say good bye). I piped up said " you know what your dad is on his death bed right now his lungs are filling with blood, you need to get your butts on a plane and get here asap" I know it wasnt my place but they hit a nerve and p*****ed me off. (sorry i dont usally use bad words) Needles to say both his son and daughter and grand kids are on thier way. I havent know him long but i know he adores his kids, he just wants them to love him back. After all f-day is what sunday. SoapBox [soapbox] I am sorry guys but this man got me. i really care what happens, he reminds me of my grandpa and i probablly crossed  a line but this man would love to open his eyes and see his kids there. I know that with all my heart. Well i had to get away for a little bit. im gonna grab dinner and head back to the hospital. Thanks for the prayers and all. You guys are awesome.

Sorry John S - no nuclear popcorn from me tonight, too full of steak and onion, sorry!

Zeke - real sorry to hear about your friend, I pray he gets through this alright.

Wife getting ready for trip so was doing the books on the laptop and I just got back on.  I've been reading a couple track plan books, mostly N and HO, but some S and O.  Trying to re-rethink things so I can more easily reach all the track.  I have to remind myself that this is a temporary layout and not everything that I want or will have will fit in here!

Guy said he has all the switches I want, just waiting to find out how much with shipping.

Morning to all. You know you are getting old when you wake up at your normal weekday time on a Saturday morning without an alarm clock. A fresh pot is on.

Yesterday we had an end of the school year picnic for the staff. Grilled some burgers and then had some jumbo steamed shrimp. The steamed shrimp has become sort of a tradition. Kind of a sad day as it will be the last day I work with some of these folks.

Busy day today. Going to a graduation party for my cousin's daughter. Get to see some family that I rarely see. Today is our anniversary (28 years) so we are going out to dinner in Annapolis, MD where we met. Will spend the night at my folks and stay around for Father's Day. Got to go get a card for my Dad, still don't have a gift.

Take care,

Mitch

Good Morning from Blueberryhill....

It is a clear 58 degrees. Going up to 86 today, with sunshine.

Today, we are driving up to the Daughter's home in Brunswick. It's about 155 miles one way. It is the Granddaughter's Birthday. 5 years old. She is the train Buddy. Has her's set up in the family room.  Little battery operated G guage. Lots of fun.

I hope gas is cheaper up north. It's still about $2.79 around here. It was about 20 cents higher, on the last trip.

I put the steel bridge back in the train room. I will install it next week. I plan on taking some pictures, when I do.

Mitch....Happy Anniversary !!

Well, Dining Car is here. Need to have breakfast and get moving.

Y'all have a great Saturday.

Good morning from a sunny and muggy Crystal Lake where I've driven a few times back and forth to church already - picked up the daughter and her boyfriend from an overnight lock-in. Got together with one of my men's groups. We're going through My Utmost for His Highest - kind of deep sometimes.

I just got a neat book for myself for Father's Day - not that I need an excuse - a collection of Fontaine Fox's Toonerville Trolley cartoons. I'm always on the lookout for one of those trolleys in our scale.

Great news from Dr. John

Congratulations, Mitch!!

John, LOL - that diesel must've reminded me of my beloved 520 with those 'torpedo tubes' on top! Amazing what I can 'see' when prompted. I wish it was an electric. ;)

Please no flashing at Ms Edna's, Chief.

Fifedog, I think that you can put Cool Whip on just about Anything and make it better!  Whistling [:-^]

John - too bad you have to work on F-Day, hope you are getting OT for it!

Doug, Ive heard of those Toonerville cartoons, but I've never seen them.  Is there a website with some or anything like that?  I used to love Pogo, but can't find those books anywhere now.  Local library doesn't have any either.

Kids at swim practice so gotta catch up with them in an hour or so for lunch.  Still no word back on a total price on those switches - making me antsy, I guess.  022 PW switches with lamps and plugs.  I have 5 modern Lionel 027 switches (remote), Zeke.  Ditto above, drop the folks off, give your respects and clear out - you dunno any real history here.

Good afternoon all,

IIABSDISE with temps in the 90s again.  Did some tree trimming and ran the 384E this morning with the new gondola in tow.  Going to a HS graduation for one of my cousin's kids this evening.  My wife and I went to see "Knocked Up" last night.  It was a funny movie and it was nice to see a movie that was not a sequel.  Do not take the kids as it is definitely R-rated.  Tomorrow we are going to the F1 race at Indy.  It may be the last one so we are definitely going to enjoy it.

Zeke, I think you handled the situation with your friend's family very well.  If anything, I think you were too pleasant.  I hope all goes well there.

The dining car had lots of bran muffins for "Points East" this morning.  I hope everyone has a good day.

Keep on training,

Had a good time at the RR museum today with the train layout for the kid's day event. It was pouring rain as we departed to go to the museum for the setup at 8 am. Luckily it held off until we got setup and then started again. We had everything under two 10x10 popup shelters and we stayed dry. Rain stopped after noon and we had quite a few visitors - los o' little ones and boy do their eyes light up at the trains - full size and O gauge. It was worth the effort.

Hope all had a good day today!

Regards, Roy
