Hi GIZ,

Transplanted kolrohbi about 100.  They look like turnips when mature but have a sweeter taste sort of like cabbage.  My DAD always had them for us when I was a kid.  Now I supply everyone with em.

Went to the shooting range today with brother and we shot about 100 rounds out of bros new SOCOM.  Its made by Springfield Armoury in 308 cal. looks like a chopped down Garand with synthetic stock.  Wow is it cool!  For $1500 its worth it.  At 100 yards with open sites on everytime.  Shot mt SIG 229 in 40 cal. nice gun.

Shoot safe and keepem in the ten ring.

Good evening,

Mike, Congrats on the new Grandson.

Roy, It sounds like they recycled some of the Win98 Code to build Vista.  Just reboot till it works? Whistling [:-^]  The computer guy who builds and maintains the computers for my son's business told me recently that he has yet to install it for a customer, still waiting for them to debug it.

Some real nasty weather in the area today.  Drove though two wild storms on the way home from the museum.  Tornado warnings were posted for some areas locally.  None developed but a lot of wind damage.  We did get some much needed rain out of it.

It seems my short term memory loss has again reveled itself.  I wanted to mention that we will keep Dr. John and his wife in our prayers for a favorable outcome.

Anyway, hope everyone has a great night.

What a comedian! Why don't you fly up too, Dennis? Then the 3 of us could raid those Yankee train stores together. We plan on going to Charles Ro, Northeast Trains, Mountain Trains, Treasured Toys, Modeler's Junction, and that's just before lunch. Many many train stores up here. Bring your charge card, because you're buying!!Wink [;)]

It's been rainy all day, with the humidity at 100% all day, 93% right now, with the temperature at 70. Got to take my dog to the vet tomorrow to get her eat cut open in surgery, she's got that ear infection, watever its called when fluid builds up in the ear. I hope everybody has a good night and a good tomorrow.

Good evening Y'all.  Dr. John, you and your wife are in our prayers.  God Bless you both and may He guide those taking care of her.

Don, That video was pretty funny.  Unfortunately, I know some folks like that.....they are from Pennsylvania!

One of the guys I work with is having a stress test in the morning.  Hopefully all will be well.  Funny thing, he always seems to have his problems when he is on call.....It is all legitimate, it is strange how it happens.  He has had two angioplasties and stents.

My bride is going down to the gulf coast with the kids towards the end of the month.  I hope to get some serious train time in and finally get all the wiring done and scenery well on its way.

I know a few of you have gotten into G gauge lately, Trainworld has a big sale on LGB, so you may want to check it out.

Hey, Jaabat, watch out for VISTA on new computers - per Roy's (?) post earlier and everyone else I know who has tried it, it ain't working yet!  They might try to force-sell you that on a new computer.  XP is at least stable, although it tries to help you a lot in the background without telling you or a by your leave either!  Maybe John Baker can ship you and old ERNI!

John S - I've got some popcorn in the nucular oven, so just wait a sec and I'll fix you up! Dinner [dinner]

Banana Pudding with 'Nilla wafers is great!  Also like Choc pudding with laddy fingers and whipped cream on top -- lots and lots of Cool Whip!

Well its a little late, but alot to comment on:

John - I find that link to the Atlas forum benefiical, I wouldn't get to the level that Frank has achieved!

Roy - Mr. Wizard was a great inspiration to me.  Watching his show I was inspired to go down to the basement and "make" my own Chemistry set.  My family couldn't afford stuff like that.  I managed to find Drano, Peroxide, detergents, cleaning fluids, salts, and anything I could think of.  Of course I would scronge up weird glasses, and stuff.  Surprised I didn't kill my self or set the place on fire.  Even though I enjoyed the show most of the kids that were on it seemed like nerds.

Dennis - Regarding the video, I too have relations that relate very closely to that dummy.  They happen to be in Arkansas.  Last time I was there my cousin wanted to take me Frog Giggin', I wouldn't go due to all the water mocassins.  Then left their place and the next day visited another cousin, (same side of the family) and he is the Directorate for the USAF, responsible for the development of Laser Weapons.  Talk about accomplished he is a General, has a fellowship, and well known research physicist.  Go figure.

I had an interesting day!  Got a visit from the Brown Army!  Received the (yes) MTH UP AC4000.  Ordered it last December.  First, found out last week that they had arrived at MTH, called the mail order company as to when they may expect them.  They said problably next week.  OK, noticed on various forums that people were receiving them.  So called the mail order place back yesterday, they said they didn't have them yet and would ship as soon as they got them.  OK, no big deal.  Then it arrives today.  Totally unexpected.

I was really looking forward to this engine especially for the flashing Ditch Lights.  Well, the ditch lights are either ON or OFF.  Tried everything -- No Flash.  Contacted some people, and all indication was that the sound program may need to be re-installed.  Then, decide to call MTH Service.  So they ask what Road Name, I tell them UP.  They say OH, UP is the ONLY roadname that does NOT flash, because that would NOT be proto-typical.  As the UP is the ONLY roadname the does NOT flash.

Below is a picture of it:  CHIEF NOTICE THE SCENERY !!!!!   A FORREST, which actually is not very far away.

The engines really do run well !!! And the horn is fantastic.  Maybe I will install a different sound package to get the lights.

 Later

Hey Nick, Which one is the DL? I didn't know they made a mini? Seriously though, I'd love to have a ride in a DL. I don't recollect ever seeing one in the flesh.

Lionroar, Every time the Boss and I see a dead or broken down BMW or Merc. we cheer, they must be the most over rated and priced thing on the road. As for service? forget it!! She has a Reault Clio and I have a Honda Jazz. The service from Renault is on a par with the ***, but the Honda (built in Swindon UK) is wonderful with a five year warranty and the reliability is legendary.

Good morning from New England!

The rumors are true. I will be buying a laptop in the near future. My daughter will be needing one for school. My sister called me up last night and offered to sell me her 6 month old laptop, unused speakers, printer, and carrying case for $250.00. What the heck, I'm in. Now I can be a PITA to y'all whenever Iwant!!! Banana pudding that!

Almost finished painting FasTrack ballast. Looking so much better. Wish I did it earlier.

I see the OGR avatar thread was pulled yesterday. Stir the pot trouble makers...

New carpet being installed today. I can hardly wait...

Best wishes and prayers to Dr. John and his wife! Thumbs Up [tup]

Thanks for the prayers guys!  We are anxiously awaiting the results of his biopsy...

Well today is my last day of work for the week... tomorrow is the BIG MOVE!  Yep it is finally here!  Last night we had severe thunderstorms and lost power for 3 hours, so we didn't get the rest of the packing completed.  No biggie, I figure we can just pitch the stuff that didn't get packed - Smile [:)]

Stopping at Budget tonight to get the truck... then some friends are swarming the house to help me load it.  Tomorrow I'll unload the truck into one of the garage bays so I can get the truck back before the place closes.  The it is just a matter of moving the junk into the house... Train stuff is getting loaded first, then unloaded directly into the train room Smile [:)]...

Looks like I lost the over/under on Jim getting a home computer!  Where I'm sad I lost the pool, I'm glad our 1/2 Amish Northern Brethern has finally made it out of the stone age! Laugh [(-D]

Good Morning from Blueberryhill....

It is a sunny 60 degrees. Going up to 85 today, with sunshine, but there is a chance of rain, later this afternoon. We had a big , windy storm, yesterday. Knocked out the power for 3 hours. Bummer.

Today, I will start painting my bridge. Got the paint, yesterday. A real deep Blue color. Should look good with gold decals. I will take a few pictures and and post them. Hope the wind stays calm. Should dry good, in the warm weather. Wish me luck.

Well, Dining car is here and has plenty of goodies. Time for breakfast. I don't think it has stopped at " points west " yet.

Y'all have a great Thursday.

Good morning all,

IIABSDISEI with temps in the 80s and low 90s.  Wow!  Yesterday was a wild one.  With the grandson being born (thank you all for the congratulations), the IT conference that lasted all day, dashing from downtown Indy to St. Vincent's on the southside to see the little tyke and his mom, going to Columbus for a game (which we won 1-0 on a hot night in a fierce struggle and then practicing with the high school kids for a half hour when I got home, it was a very busy day.  I was out almost as soon as I hit the pillow and my wife told me this morning that the air conditioner was making loud noises last night and they shut it off.  I hope they can get it fixed today or it will be a hot weekend.

Some other news, tidbits, and health information follow.  To all those coffeepot people and general forumites who are women, married to them, and who have daughters and granddaughters of childbearing age, there is a reason for hospitals.  When I made my initial report concerning the birth yesterday, the event had just happened.  Later on in the day without going into TMI, there were some complications, but because my daughter was in the hospital with prompt medical attention, everything was and is ok.  I am going to get on my soapbox here.  Some people may advocate home births and other such options.  My daughter even considered a midwife to save costs at one point.  I am so glad she did not.  I will now get off the soapbox.

In other news, they are finally laying new track at the Honda plant.  Some CSX equipment with flat beds of of rails have been seen on the track going toward the plant and I have heard diesel horns at different times during the day.  I hope to check this out on Friday when I am off.

Just the normal fare on the dining car for "Points East".  I am looking forward to the F-1 race at Indy this weekend.  I hope everyone has a good day.

Keep on training,

Mike C. from Indiana

Mornin' boys.  Confederate grey and cool outside here in the Mid-Atlantic region.  Spent better part of yesterday down in the train room, mocking up the track pieces to get a feel for what things will look like.  Actually goofed up a bit on my template drawing, and what was to be a passing siding has become a junction.  Ran trains on the finished CONNELLSVILLE SUB but that is about to be BLUE FLAGGED.

Chief - A lot of folks took the opportunity to grandstand over the DUKE lacrosse situation.  Unless the student body talks with their feet, no one will be held accountable.  Nifong hopefully will sink into oblivion.

Well wishes to all in need of them.

Good morning from beautiful Ohio, where it is currently 62 degrees and low humity. Smile [:)]  A little cool under the bridge this morning.

Dr. John, I look forward to hearing about your wife's great prognosis.

Mike C, congratulations on being a Grandfather, but you look too young.  You made some great points about the medical care.

As to Nifong, or is it Nifoonery; blinded ambition with a great amount of arrogance.  Chief, you NC natives need to get rid of him.  The president of Duky should also be in your sights.  BTW, the Buckeye Nation has the president of Ohio University (which is different than Ohio State) in their sights for being so incompetent.

Speaking of football, did I tell you I attended my first Arena Football Game.  It is hard to get excited about the AFL when you have seen 100 thousand screaming fans at the Shoe.

Sad to hear about the passing of Mr. Wizzard.  Roy, he truely had the KNACK.  His show is where I learned about vapors/liquids/solids and I give him the credit for me passing organic chemistry.

Jim A. has not had bannana pudding?  He must live a very sheltered life.  I wonder if he has had bread pudding, rice pudding, hot dogs, pickles, hamburgers, country fried steak, elephant ears, corn on the cob and tomatoes.  Jimmy, you need to see the world outside of Taxchusettes.   I would suggest that you arrange a visit to see Roy in Texas and be ready for the cultural shock of your life.  They not only own guns, they know how to shoot them!

Boiled or roasted peanuts...Can't eat either type because they cause kidney stones.  No peanut butter either.

See ya down the tracks,
