Good morning all,
It is sunny and warm and another beautiful day in SE Indiana. Today the dining car heads to "Points East" with special birthday wishes for Chuck as he celebrates 65 years. That was quite a touching tribute that was posted earlier for such a memorable (!) career. Many happy returns from "Points West"! Jimtrumpie, "Lost" was pretty good until we met "Jacob", which kind of blew all the credibility. At least we know what happened to the Dharma people, but who are this "third" bunch that was there before Dharma and why are Dharma supplies still being sent? I edged the sidewalks and went for a walk with the missus last night. It was a pretty quiet evening, which is a good thing. I hope everyone has a good day.
Keep on training,
Mike C. from Indiana
I woke early today to catch a great show on History International. It was all about the giant steamers and had plenty of footage of northerns, big boys, alleghenys, mallets, etc. Worth waking up early for. At least once a week, THIC shows trains of some kind on their Voyagers show.
I made some excellent progress last night on the restoration of a 2671 tender shell. A large chip was filled on the top front with styrene and blended in. Then I cut off a rear step from a donor shell for placement on the right rear. I could hear my little voice telling me to quit while I was ahead, so I did. Then the little voice told me to make a snack and watch CSI. So I did.
I'm taking the fam up to New Hampster for the weekend. That's my Mother's Day gift to wifey. And just by coincidence, we are staying a stone's throw from the Hobo RR! They are restoring the Flying Yankee, so it will be an interesting visit!
Good Morning from Blueberryhill....
WOW....I am speechless. Thanks for the Birthday wishes, Guys. Jim...that little life story was priceless. More truth than not. It was great.
It is about 65 degrees. Going up to 85 again. A few clouds clearing and sunshine.
Today, I will take it easy and enjoy the day. I like to focus on the good things that I have enjoyed. And there are many. One of the many, is this Forum and you Guys. You have helped me thru a lot of rough days. And I will always appreciate that.
Maybe later, I'll run the mower on the front yard. It's the only thing left to mow. Then, I think I will run trains for an hour or so. A guy has to run trains on his Birthday.
Dining Car has arrived and now it's time for breakfast. Later.
Y'all have a great Thursday, May 10th. I will.
Chuck
GAZAM!!!!!! What a special day. TOOTS
Just a little over a year ago we were worried about him. Now he is out making trouble for us REBS.
Just watched a movie on Westerns Channel. Guy got married in MO and he commented, "I'm glad I ain't a Yankee." Sam Star said that the day he married Belle Star. Great Confederate couple.
Well, off to Kerr Lake to install buddy's GPS on his boat. Sun is out. Pretty day. didn't get much rain but will make it until the next front comes through about Saturday.
Later

I did not know you had such a colorful history I hope you enjoy your birthday and have MANY more.
Beautiful in Southern Ohio!!! Sunny, warm with a little breeze. A little work in the garage, weeding in thr front beds, some study and running some trains planned. Thinking about mounting the 600 track on some plywood just using a boarder trim to avoid drilling holes. The are holes in the panels for the signs and street lights and I could drill the through hole there, had not thought of that, we'll see.
All take care and may God bless all your needs
Congradulations Chuck, Hope you really have a great Birthday !

Chuck.
I had a companion on my walk today. A wild turkey. He kept his distance, but didn't seem overly concerned about me. We walked "together" for 1/4 mile or so before he decided to cross the street and head off on his own.
Warm and a little muggy here today. Time for lunch.
CHUCK!
With that out of the way... good afternoon fellas... no fun stories today... went to Baltimore Orioles game last night with the wife, sat 2 rows behind 1st base. Orioles win it bottom of the 10th with homer by Huff!
Brent, the Orioles look good this year. Too bad they are in the AL East with Boston!
Chuck,
Happy Birthday!
Mike,
I thought it was a good episode, confusing as always. I could have sworn I saw a body in the chair for an instant, have to watch it again.
Took my last final for the semester today. Went to Lowes and Wal Mart on the way home to get what I need to restore a 456 coal ramp. I'll check in later.

Happy Birthday Chuck! After your little "fun" last year, we take birthdays a bit more seriously. Enjoy the day and be thankful for the blessings.
Son graduated K4 today. I was able to make it as I am on call and we had nothing scheduled. It was nice, but it really makes you feel old when your kid starts graduating things (but not as old as CHUCK) Vet called, they got Lucky's ashes back, so I will have to go pick her up when I am done.
I ordered the Hogwarts Express today, I am not a fan of Harry Potter, but I do like the european style steamer and passenger set. I may remove anything that says "Harry Potter" or any Wicken looking stuff.
MIL's AC went out on her house in Montgomery, AL. Wife is supposed to be going there for Mother's Day, looks like we may foot the bill on a $1300.00 repair. I only wish I could go and see if it was something I could handle myself. MIL's husband is not mechanically inclined....They use my Craftsman screwdrivers as gardening tools! Oh well, "Honey, does this mean I can get a $1300.00 train?"

Hey anjdevil2! I hear our little scorcher has jumped the highway and invaded northern Florida! So far, it has taken out at least 100,000 acres. They had a good handle on things and then the 50+mph winds yesterday caused a big breach. Got hairy for a little while and now it is spreading further south. Hopefully they can get it under control soon. From what I hear, they are going to let the peat bog area of the swamp just burn itself out as too much methane fueling the flames.
I remember the meadowlands dump fire burned for better than 10 years because of methane in the lower levels. Anyway, hope it doesn't affect the Florida side too much.
Dennis,
Yup, I was hoping that Andrea was going to head further inland, but won't happen. I'm afraid were into the 1998 firestorm again. We're surrounded by fires and now the wind is upwards of 40 mph. I guess it's good I'm retired from the fire service. My wife still cringes when I talk about going to help out!!!
Happy Birthday Chuck
John B, Somthing always puts a spanner in the works! Would you believe that we have the "Bin Police" Aka Bin Gestapo who run surveillance on your bins! And have the power to give on the spot fines if your bin is put out on the wrong day or the incorrect bin is put out! I have decided that some where along the line we have finally "lost it" in the UK. Could these indviduals be better used on surveillance of people who need to be wearing an orange boiler suit and booked up for a extended holiday in a certain Cuban facility.
£1200 for a mini-van repair, ouch!.. Is that made by Porsche??? Having said that you could buy a old 924 for £1200....
Have a good one
Nick
I just happened to check in...
Happy Birthday Chuck! So you can finally retire???
Don't worry, I have an uncle that just turned 96...he says he just started feeling old...Enjoy your (official) retirement. Now you'll be busier than you were when you were working.
