Mike, condolences to wife and family, prayers have already been lifted up for peace and comfort for the mourning.

I am finally off call.  Wasn't too bad, but as usual, totally messed up the plans I had.  Did get to joing the heart team for a nice afternoon party.  They had the head chef from the country club come and make the meal....even without grits, it was very good.  One of our new surgeons who specializes in aortic cases was hosting the party.  It was fun all us suposedly "educated" folks acting like youngsters with the inflatable slides, belly flops, and just enjoying the afternoon.  Think we need to do that more often.

I won a two part video on the Lionel F3s and how to tell fakes from originals.  While I don't have any as of yet, I look forward to adding a set to my collection when I get off train restriction.

In other news, read where the little league team from Japan's bus caught fire on the way to Baltimore Airport.  Fortunately, they all got out and are fine, but quite a thing for youngsters to endure, especially after the ending to their series.

Well, that's about all.  I hope y'all have a great night and a blessed tomorrow.

Dennis

The shed roof is 99% complete... just have to put the ridge shingles on tomorrow and the roof is done.  Then it is on to trimming it out and the painting... have to check the weather again, but I hope to have the walls painted by Wednesday...

JimA - Never have had that problem, but you handled it better than I would have... guy would have caught a fist in his jaw... especially if it happened after the day I just had... Angry [:(!]

I moved the spare tire to the left rear tonight and put the right rear tire back on... it appears to have solved the problem... will know more tomorrow after my 80mph trip to work, the people here in MD don't slow down for anything other than crabs... and they drive like their running the Sharpie 500 in Bristol!

Mike C, Condolences on your family's loss.

Chief, looks like they are keeping you busy in Roseyville.  Keeps you out of trouble! Smile [:)]  Guess you will be running trains again before long.

Jim A, I catch myself doing that on occasion.  Never had a problem like you described, but am aware that it can happen.  They wouldn't get much cash in my wallet, but the misery of canceling and replacing all the cards would be a major pain.

Take care,

This is for the Chief, who noticed it wasn't in the Sunday Photo Fun thread:

Below is a before and after decal job I just finished. This used to be a blue Conrail car. I used some left over orange paint (#20 orange for you NASCAR fans).

Here is the car after I decalled it with Micro-Mark decals. I bought blank decal film and drew the artwork up in Adobe Illustrator.

I left the car in the glossy finish because I think it looks good that way.

Evening all.  Meeting with NC DWQ went well.  Had early dinner with Wildlife Enforcement officers in Roseyville [Col, Lt. Col., Majors, Captain, Lt's and several Sgts as well as officers, about 25].  They had been here all day in a training course at the FD.  They were going to do a terrorist simulation a the neighboring elementary school later this PM.  Now resting and watching TV.  Did get some track back on the left side in the big room.  Hope to spend all day on layout tomorrow.  Later.

Mike C:  I too share sentiments for you and your family.

Sir James:  We bought a 36" Sony HD tube TV a short time arter they came out...plasma was $11k at the time.  This thing weighs a ton. (275 lbs)  We had a hard time finding a TV cabinet to hold it.  More companies make entertainment units for plasma and LCD TVs.

Good Afternoon to All,

Mike C,sorry about your family loss, even when they are ill, it's still hard to lose a loved one.

78 right now spent part of the morning getting repair people appointments. I have gotten good response from all except the alarm people (said they are very busy after the storm)this from the company who boosted their alarms were not affected by lightning.they were half right I only lost the zone nearest the strike.

Since we were blessed with all that rain, I spent a couple of hours cutting grass this afternoon, it's green again. Still have to tv shop, not excited about it as to many different ways to go now. I grew up with the tube type and its not easy getting an old person to change their ways.

                           Later,      Sir James

Mike, my sympathies to your wife and family.

I was at Walmart this afternoon and while checking out, I had my wallet laying on the counter in front of me. A guy walked up and tried to pick up my wallet! I slammed my hand down on it and told him to take a hike. I think he believed I wasn't paying attention. Add to that my normal stupid look and he must have thought I was an easy mark.

Uh oh, the wife's garage door just went up. See you guys later...

Hello from beautiful Southern Ohio!!!!

Mike- My sympathys to the family and loved ones and I will pray for God to touch each as needed.

Buckeye-Thanks for the tip on Glacier.  Wife found a deal on internet where you go and stay at each of the lodges for $99 a night.  Too good a deal to pass up.  Road to the sun is to close the week after; early this year for maintenance before winter.  Really looking forward to the trip.  Stuff at work crazy and hopefully will settle down by the time I get back.Big Smile [:D]

Washed car, first time after getting back from the body shop.  The repair was a nice job.  They left the motor dirty so I spent most of the time washing in the engine compartment.  I admit I am OCD when it comes to keeping my vehicles clean.  I confess that you could eat off the diesel enginge in my '96 2500 GMC truck, yes I know that is sickLaugh [(-D]

Going to do some training

God bless!

Hey Brent, Feel lucky about the tire cost.  My lease just run out on a Chrysler Crossfire which I had to put tires on last year.  Total cost 4 tires $1145. It had 18" on the front and 19" on the back.  Only 2 companies made the back tire.  The oil changes, which they wanted done every 5k miles, cost $85.  I must of been sleeping when the salesman told me about these costs when I bought the car. LOL Or maybe he didn't tell me.

Good morning from a sunny and pleasant Chicago where I am set to enjoy one of the slowest weeks of our year. Classes start Sept. 5, everyone wants to elongate their Labor Day weekend, I think I'm the only one here - but like Jim A, as much as I love the kids, I don't mind the break - even if it includes work. Have to remember to give the bride one occasionally... Not started with the matches yet, RT, waiting for a frost to get started.

Mike C, I'm sorry about your loss. Hope your bride is doing well.

Just my hand (where I tried to put a knife through it last weekend) and now my wallet.  Just ordered new tires for the wife's Bimmer... $350.00 from TireRack (not bad really just have other things I would rather spend $350.00 on)!

If you did that to those engines at York I don't think you would make it out alive! Probably be lynched before the hammer fell a second time, then they would string you up from the Grand Stand to make an example of you! LOL!

Mornin' Fellas...

Keith, got your email and just read your post, so  no need to responde to my stupid question! LOL!

As for Chief - He's having more fun with us fellas up North... gives the old chap something to do with all his free time... BTW Chief - why don't you go visit your Grandson?  He seems to come visit you... Wink [;)]

Got more of the shed roof done yesterday... now have 2/3 finished and ran out of shingles... stopped by Home Despot and picked up two more square and spackle for the spare room Susan is removing wall paper in.  The old owners did not size the walls and now the paper is removing the paperface from the drywall!  What a mess.

Friend of mine stopped by yesterday to take the problem child for a test drive.  It started acting up for him and he said it feels like an Rear Inner CV Joint.  Definitely NOT engine, tranny, or AWD related, and it certainly is not a tire.  So have to call the other mechanic today, this is so much fun!

Hey Doug, I had my daughter check with the Milan High school about your 1957 reunion and they have nothing on it.  My grand kids go there also. Sorry, no help here.  Everybody have a great day and try to be kind to the "Chief".  I think he's going through the "CHANGE" and is becoming bitter toward the world.  He needs our prayers.

Good morning all,

It is cool this morning, but it is supposed to warm up this afternoon in SE Indiana.  I was going to post yesterday, but we got a call yesterday telling us my wife's father had passed away.  He had been in the Philippines the last six years with her brother, and he had been in declining health the past few years.  He had a stroke in the last month and he had been in the hospital undergoing therapy.  I guess his body was tired and he needed a rest.  My wife is sad that he is gone, but relieved that he no longer has to endure what he was going thru anymore.  Please keep her family in your thoughts and prayers.

I hope everyone has a good day.

Keep on training,

Mike C. from Indiana

Jim, Glacier National Park is breathtaking.  The Going to the Sun Highway is awesome.  Hiking to one of the overnight huts is something I still would like to do.  Spend some time in East Glacier watching the trains at the station.  The East Glacier Lodge is something to see.  Go inside and see "Rocky".  In fact, all the lodges are really great architecture.  Wished I was going with you.  Watch out for the bears.  They do have grizzlies that roam the woods and they like berries.

Jimmy A, those F3s are new!!!!  BTW, he has Western Pacifics for sale, too.  Looking at the underside it obvious that the center rail rollers are farther apart than today's rollers.

'Morning boys & girls

Starting out to be another hot & humid one today.  Rained off & on all weekend to add to the misery and no appreciable accumilation to be had.

Got my dining car for my PE. I need the baggage combo and the main PE set for my Christmas layout.  It was an interesting day at the LHS.  Got a first hand application on the ZW and the bricks.  I think I'll stick to the PW ZW & KW.  I'm starting to like that TMCC though.  Next Saturday I'll be learning to make rocks...should be interesting.

Had my cup o joe today, now off to the races.  Hopeful that the Ohizoinans & Michiagans r ok.

Be Safe
