Good afternoon from central Alabama where it's warm and a bit cloudy. Storms supposed to come in tomorrow afternoon (same front that did the damage and killed some folks in Texas Sad [:(] ).

Sir James, welcome to the forum.

Dennis, very sorry to hear about your dog. Both of ours have suffered snake bites in the past couple of years (one dog twice!). In each case, the dogs had obvious wounds and a lot of swelling. Vets gave one dog antivenin, the other one anti-biotics only. (Snake bites are more dangerous due to infection in dogs than venom). Both dogs recovered very nicely. Not sure about the signs of a black widow bite - probably much harder to see. Sorry also about your problems with the Hudson purchase.

Lisa

I'm still kicking kicking but medical and dental issues have kept me tied down. Loose teeth upstairs due to long term gum recession and deterioation of peridontal ligaments[didn't know teeth had ligaments]. Have lost 5 in 3 years post root canals in spite of split-gum and stitch treatment with bone graph material and antibiotics around the root. Lasts about 12 to 18 months before infection sets in again around the outside of the tooth once it loosens---not a fun or cheap process. Remaining 7 upper teeth are very much at risk---all loose.

Have undergone 6 CT Scans of face[only] recently but no decision on quality of upper jaw bone structure or what to do regarding  implants or eventually store-bought choppers. The "Rusty Years" of old age require a lot of gold!

Chief if you want to visit the Norfolk & Western [and formerly Atlantic & Yadkin RY] town of Madison where the home of O-gauge's top layout scenicking female and CTT forumite dwells; Just follow Wendover Avenue on past North Elm about 3/4 mile where you turned to my house and you will hit U.S. 220 North-----about 22 miles to Madison.

Soon as I learn something toothwise I am headed to our mountain cottage to finish disassembling my 1992 airborne 5-track, twin shelf RR.

Yep, JOHN, a little more then a week ago we had snow and then YORK,.  I hope to be turning the soil tomorrow depending on how much rain we get today?  Seems to be coming down pretty good.  I just took dog for walk and had to use two towels on her, none for me under the umbrella.

The school year is quickly winding down and for that I'm happy, I haven't been this busy in 7 years but it's a good busy. May 6 will be a wonderful day.

We've had 4" of rain in 24 hours and will probably hit 5" by morning. Lots of flooding and the poor farmers will really be behind with planting. Sure fun to read the York reports, hope we can make the fall meet.

Stay dry. From the soggy heartlands.

No rain right now - considering a quick mow - as quick as I can get it done!  Rained yestrday with hail, but looks like no dings.  Dennis - prayers for your dog.  Welcome Sir James (can't -have too many James-es, I always say!) Sign - Welcome [#welcome]  My wife picked up about a 5 foot tall stack of ceiling tiles (they were metric and wouldn't fit the new grid for the Fed Gov't office in which she works - thanks to us taxpayers, I'm sure!).  Once I can get going on a semipermanent layout, I'll have to try cutting that stuff up.  TTFN

RIP Chewy - best dog I ever had.

Took the family to have the kids pictures taken tonight.  Got some really good shots.  Then we went to get ice cream.  Our one dog that is ill seems to be having a good night, but she is still having difficulty with walking and standing.  I really hope we can save her.  The other dog is visibly upset.  He really likes having her around.

Did anyone happen to see a CTT Divco truck at york?  I just got the Eastman's Lionel Madison Hardware delivery truck and will find a place for it on the layout.

I have to get going to bed, got a big day ahead of me tomorrow and need some rest.  I hope to sleep a bit better tonight as the dog situation has been heavy on my mind.

Y'all have  a blessed night

Dennis

Dennis - I will post more as soon as I catch my breath, I was lookin' only found a couply of the CTT trucks that was offered through the magazine.  I even talked to the guys in the booth about it, they pulled me away a couple of times during the lunch/kodak moment to go look at a couple of places they thought had it.  But it was the box cars, I did see a couple of the current truck but you had indicated $30, they wanted $35 and $40.

Welcome Sir James !

Hope Zeke comes back, we need more left coasters!

Got to run,  Keith will post all the stuff soon, did get a Mikado is it ever GREAT!  Going to club will get back to some regular post soon.

Good Morning from Blueberryhill....

It is a cloudy 50 degrees. Going up to 72 today, with a chance of some thunderstorms this afternoon. Need some sunshine.

Today is a busy day. I have some errands to run and shopping to do, locally. I might get some train time in, later. Grass is growning again. I will need to do some serious mowing this weekend.  I have been keeping busy, keeps my mind from thinking. Sometimes.

Time for the Dining car. Breakfast is served.

Y'all have a great Thursday.

Good morning all,

It is rainy and mild in SE Indiana with temps in the 60s.  Did too much last night and went to bed early.  Power went out in middle of night, but did wake up to reset clocks.  Will take it easy tonight and watch the tape of "Lost".  Jimtrumpie, was it worth watching?  Went to the YMCA, worked on the garage some more getting the gravel arranged so I could drive the truck over the concrete apron (long story).  Did dishes for the wife.  Work has been really intense and this is just the beginning.  I am sending bran muffins to "Points East".  I hope everyone has a good day.

Keep on training,

Mike C. from Indiana

A delayed reply about York --li

York is everything I had hoped for and so much more!  Spent quite a bit of time with John F, Roy, and an associate of Roy - George.

Went on the MTH Tour, Tony Lash's Layout, Gettysburg battlefield, TCA Museum, Penn State Train Museum, Choo Choo Shop store and layout.  Spent Thurs, Fri, and Sat at York Show.

Purchases;

Mth Mikado, Mth NYC 0-4-0 switcher, J Series Norfolk-Western train includ Water Bunker and extra cars, 3 all door box cars, Foam Cutting and forming tool sys, numerous trucks, Wire-less Camera for train route viewing, 8 K-Line Die Cast coal cars, Beep-People, MTH Dispatch board accessory and various incidental parts and theathers.  Since I've been home ordered 2 track cleaning cars 1 each for G-Scale and 1 for O.  (Aztec)

It was really tremendous just going through the displays with John, Roy, and George.  All of them know so much, and really had great advice.  I had decided on a "mid range steam engine preferably MTH Premier PS2".  It was decided I need the Mikado.  George says I know where there is a new one at a great price and it is UP.   Off we went to the hall furthest away from the Orange hall, walk right up to the guys booth, there it is.  Brand new in the box wanting to get back to home turf.  So I rescued it and off we went.  I was amazed he new EXACTLY where to find it!

I have NEVER seen so many trains, absolutely awesome!

I only got lost once, tried some of the back roads to get to York from the room.  Ended up seeing a lot of Amish, dairy farms (1 with a Camel), and ended up on the Penn Turnpike.

Day before I left airlines called and had cancelled the flight, ended up rescheduling two different return trips, finally got a reasonable schdeule through Chicago and home on Tuesday night.  Wednesday had to work on pool, filter had been fouled, then unpacked and went to Train Club.  Today back to work.

Will try to get some pics posted but have to work all weekend, then it is late for SPF.  Maybe make a dedicated thread next week.

George (Roy's associate) called yesterday PM just to make sure the Mikado and Switcher arrived safely.  Talked with him for awhile, will have to see if I can recruit a REB to the forum.  BTW the Norfork and Western engine and tenders did NOT make the return trip, they are being upgraded to PS2 by TAS.

I definetly plan on going back, maybe 2009 or 10.

Later

Don

Good morning from cloudy and muggy Dixie. What a change from yesterday! A warm front is coming through with a lot of moisture from the Gulf, then in a few hours we have a cold front coming through from the west. Should make for "interesting" weather later on. Glad for the coming rain, though.

We're hosting a domestic violence seminar this a.m. to help ministers better counsel victims. Sadly, it is becoming all too common a problem in our society. I certainly need to be better equipped to help. Glad our senior pastor insists on our continuing education.

I've pretty much put the brakes on train buying for now. Daughter has a wedding in a year and we're saving for a new TV and a couple of trips. Got to sell the old Caddy so I can have room in the garage for a small layout. Already have the "benchwork" done - three hollow core doors with folding banquet table legs. They've already served well for two small layouts.

Good morning from a damp, grey and cool Crystal Lake where intermittent rain makes it a great day to spend in the basement! Glad Nick had a good vacation to the DR - haven't heard from John Baker in a while - hope he's well. Mike C., how is the new job this week? Today, I am following up on a debacle of a fire drill last eve at school - evacuating 14 stories of students and faculty in three buildings with half not listening -

Mike,

It was slow at first but it got better.  Sun was the main focus of the episode.  The woman that landed on the island last week revealed something that makes things start to fall into place.  I don't want to spoil it for you.Big Smile [:D]
