Hope the weather holds, we are having some pretty good winds, and the beaches are getting blasted with high surf.  (10-15 feet).  Unfortunately, this weather will probably be arriving in the East about the time I do.

Back to work, have a great day all.

Don, I have been resting all day.  Cut off the cold medicine this afternoon so I can self medicate with brandy at bed time.  My Mom used to make up a brew with rock candy disolved in whisky when I was a kid, buy I haven't seen rock candy in years.  I think it was 99% sugar anyway.

Been reclinerizing.  John, Carter's pictures are in the wife's camera and she has not made it home yet.  SIL is so preculiar over his computer [remember we had a little falling out the last time I was spending the night there] she will not try to send them.  Get well.  Got squash plants blooming in the greenhouse.  Need to plant them but still might hit one more weekend with some cold.  Usually already planed.

Hey, Traindaddy posted on the pot.  Seen him around so much we forgot to tell him welcome to the Pot.

Good morning from New England!

It's Friday the 13th! Nyahhh! also, boogah boogah!  I'm not going near that Marx 666 today!

We lucked out here yesterday. Got rain instead of snow. Still, the ride home was a bear.

I brought in a 2037 shell to work on today. Going to do a little touch up. I hade great success touching up a tender last night. By mixing gloss and flat paint, I was able to get a perfect match. You can't even tell it was touched up.

John, I hope you feel better soon. I like your self-medicating idea. I never drank until I had kids...

Good morning all,

It is supposed to be sunny and mild today with temps in the 50s in SE Indiana, but that could change quickly and the weekend is going to be really yucky with snow (or grits) predicted.  (You make one comment about a southern mower....)  Did very little last night.  Finished up last major project at current job yesterday, which was a relief.  I have lots of little details to do, but if any or none of them get done, it will not make a big difference in the larger scheme of things.  RT, I liked your story about the desks.  Lucas tried on his tux for the prom yesterday, and my wife thought he looked pretty sharp.  Dining car is leaving for "Points East".  All aboard!  I hope everyone has a good day.

Keep on training,

Mike C. from Indiana

Mornin' boys.  Boogah boogah right back atcha.  My bride and I will be venturing out to West-by-God-Virginia this afternoon, for a getaway weekend.  Looks like a blues concert tonight in Romney, then dirt-track racing tomorrow night in Cumberland.  Lousy chilly weather though...then maybe a little bass fishing at the farm pond on Sunday.

Good Morning from Blueberryhill....

It is a cold 30 degrees. Cloudy. Going up to 55 today with some sunshine predicted. I sure hope so. Not too good for the weekend, though.

Today, I have some phone calls to make in the morning and I plan on working in the train room, this afternoon. Been running the GG1 with rear pantographs up, all the way around the upper loop. Need about 7 inches in height for that. Always allow enough. I found that out on the lower level.

Well, here comes the Dining Car from " points west ". Time to board and enjoy breakfast.

Y'all have a great Friday.

Mornin' fellas...

Stopped by the LHS yesterday to pickup the boys... I'm now the proud owner of an MTH Railking C&O Streamlined Hudson and 7 passenger cars... wife walked in 'WHAT THE HECK IS THIS?' 'I stopped and picked up the train today on the way home... gonna set up a small layout this weekend and make sure everything runs good.' She rolled her eyes and walked away...

She's such a sweetie! Blush [:I]

Need to get some sleep tonight... stayed up last night to watch CSI: NY and Shark, also watched some American Chopper... and a show on Discovery called Man vs Wild?  They drop this Australian Bloke off in the remotest areas and make him walk back to civilization... along the way he tells you how to survive in the different areas... a few weeks ago they dropped him off on a Volcano in Hawaii... Ummmm... I don't think I ever want to be trapped on a volcano... last night he was in Africa and the second show he was in the Colorado Rockies... pretty neat shows.  In the Rockies show he tells how to catch trout in shallow pools, then bake them on a fire in a bark/mud/oak leaf 'oven'... now I'm hungry for trout! Sad [:(]

Good morning from a sunny and cold Crystal Lake where the birds are in full voice amidst the snow and I'm working at home today and Monday whilst the bride celebrates her birthday by taking her friend who's been fired from her church job to New York City. Children, that's an example of a run-on sentence. That also means I don't have to shave for four days - and just tons of train time! Suppose I have to work a little too.Wink [;)]

John - I don't know if its still available in liquor stores but there used to be a blend called "Rock & Rye" that was just that, rye whisky with rock candy.  You could always make rock candy using a saturated solution of sugar in water, hang a cotton string in it and wait, and wait, and wait, as the crystals grow.

Hope the cold clears soon.

John, we have a little "medicine" that takes a lot less time than waiting to make the rock candy.  We mix sugar, honey in hot tea with a shot of moonshine.  Of course, do this only when you can get plenty of sleep.  If you don't have any "home-grown" liquour, you could use wiskey or even brandy.  If you can, this would be a great thing to take before jumping on  a plane as you can sleep through the flight.

Chief, you are right about SWMBO, want to keep her happy.  I have a few items coming in from the Train-Station today and I was also informed by Ebay that the guy who outbid me on that Wabash Hudson was disqualified from the sale, so I am getting that at my highest bid, plus the seller is throwing in shipping and insurance.

Got some more work around the house this weekend and I am hoping to get some work in on the tractor.  If that gets done, I can get some train time in.  If it doesn't get done, I can get a lot of train time in!Approve [^]

I have a question that is not train related.  Does anyone have an idea of how to repair a group of pages that came loose from their binding in a book?  My Bible has the last set of pages that have separated.

Don, I really want one of those Divco CTT trucks and hope that if y'all get together, you will find one.  If more than one gets purchased, well, I guess I will have some presents for my fellow train enthusiasts.  Thanks.

OMG!!!!!!!!!!

That was not a good thing to read this early in the morning at work!

Yes I can't wait to see the streamliner pulling the cars over Flagherty Creek, when do you want to give her a go and let her stretch her legs?  From what I've been told she hasn't seen any action since the original owner first purchased her Disapprove [V]... she is just begging for some track time, and you know we can't disappoint her! Dennis,
in regards to your bible... take to a book binder.  I have seen some amatuer repaired books and they did more damage than good.  My mother had her family bible rebound and it looks like new (they even repaired the 100 yo+ leather that had cracked and split).  Do a google search for 'book binding services'...

I'll have my eyes open for a Divco truck... I'm looking for one for myself as well. Wink [;)]

I have been sworn (and forced under duress to sign a document stating) that I will not buy and more trains, engines, rolling stock, or accessories till after Christmas '07.  I wrote an ammendment that I can purchase the two christmas passenger cars in August... and 2 additional christmas items...  so York is going to be restricted to autos, trucks, and TMCC upgrades, and maybe the two additional 180 power blocks.

Anyone know if you can upgrade engines to Proto2?  I'm highly considering doing that to the streamlined hudson.

FIFE, you are headed into enemy territory.  Reb land.  We might kidnap you and hold you for ransom.  No, who would pay us? Wink [;)]

Brent, wives just have to get use to it.  I just let mine buy all the shoes and pocketbooks she wants.  That way she keeps quite about all the boxes that arrive at the front door. [take lessons from the wise old Reb]  Upgrade to PS2 is expensive.  TMCC is cheaper and easy.  Still can run on DCS remote if you so desire.

Slept late for a change.  The old dog slept until 6 AM, let the boys out, fed them their hotdog [yes, wife started that years ago], went back to bed.  Old one started whinning at 7:30, had conference, he quit and I went back to sleep.  Usually the 7:30 whinning get me up.

Got to go for now.  Have a good day.  Todays devotional was Hebrews 11: 4-32.  Have faith and Friday the 13th will be a good day.

Good morning from a rainy Dallas. Rain is a good thing. About 60 right now. Maybe some storms later tonight.

Dr. John - do you do exorcisms? Some evil forces have taken over my 13 and 15 year olds. If possible, can you do it via text messaging to their cell phones?

Chief - I agree that the TMCC upgrades are cheaper. DCS sure brings some nice operation though.

Don - I sent you an e-mail about York - did you get it?

Doug - I liked that sentence.

Is that the original Gil Finn posting again? Welcome back!

Have great day all!

Chief - according to my ACW history lessons (before the revisionists took over the textbooks), West Virginia (created in part to keep B&O out of Southern hands) was pretty much neutral during the War Against Nawthern Agrreshun.  Check some sights, only major campaign after Stonewall's demise was the Battle of Oldfields (north of Moorefield).  Big calvalry battle in which the South took a whoopin...

Roger, Yes I remember Rock & Rye, Guess Mom was just the do it yourself type.

Cloudy again today,  Prediction is for rain up into Tuesday.  Hope it clears up for York.  The plants in the greenhouse need some Sun to grow, right now they are just sitting there.  Do have one tomato with a blosom.

WAHOO !!  One day closer to York !

Last "real" day of work, (ha) will most likely spend the day making more lists, reviewing catalogs, etc..  Already started watching traffic conditions for trip to airport.  I think I'm going crazy!  If Tom has the "inner child" in him I sure don't know what I have.

My empthay goes out to you guys with teenage girls.  About a month ago I took my son to play pool one evening while Mom was at Bunco.  Since, then he has come home from work 3 times, and says "Hey Dad, How about going and shooting some stick?"  It has been a blast, darn thing is, he is begining to beat me, regurlarly. Black Eye [B)] Costing me .25 per game.   Since he has "possesion" of the El Camino, he is extemely cautious as to when he drives it.  Won't take it too work, it might get dusty, and doesn't want it parked there all day.  Even though they have a guarded employee parking lot.  Gets home and uses a car duster to wipe off the accumulated dust from it sitting in the garage.  I've been blessed !!!

Better go and label some cartridges or do something so they wife thinks I've been working. Wink [;)]

Plan on finishing the installation this week-end of my elevated G Scale shelf.

Have a great day all, stay warm, dry, and John start drinking Chicken Soup. Dinner [dinner]

Later

As Roy knows, I also have a newly minted 13 yr old (boy) and 15 yr. old (girl) - I feel his pain. They are maddening - I try to remember they are essentially brain damaged because they are growing so fast. Then again, I have a 4 yr. old to add to the fun too.

Doug,

Your remark about the ages of your kids brought back memories.  Mine are now 27 (mother of 1.7 kids), 25 (mother of 8 month old boy), and the 16 year old son.  Having the two girls close in age let me get thru "those" years with perhaps less trauma than having one of each going thru adolescence at the same time.  The boy alone is a handful as it is, and do not let it ever be said that only girls are hormonal.  My wife really enjoys having his girlfriend come over so she can get her estrogen fix.  I hope everyone has a good day.

Keep on training,

My daughter is only 2 years old and I think I have a lot to look forward toBanged Head [banghead].  Don't know what it is today, but I just feel tired.  Hope to shake it as I want to get some train time in.  I am thinking of taking my bride and the kids out to dinner.  Not only because she deserves it, but also because I know there will be a package at the front door when we get backWink [;)].  Got Veggie Tales on for the kids right now.  Hope to keep their interest as we have Kirt Cameron and also the Veggie Tales coming to our church this weekend.

Chief, look forward to seeing some photos of that grandbaby.  Sure he is a cutie.  So, which train set have you ordered for him?  Don't spoil him too much.

Have you, or anyone heard from Elliot lately?  Have not heard since we lifted up prayers when he was having some more sickness.  Hope things are getting better.

Hope eveyone has a great weekend.

The 2037 shell "restoration" was a huge success. I didn't go for a like-new appearance. Rather, I only repaired and repainted the largest areas of damage. Many of the areas had huge scratches or areas of paint loss. The existing finish was sanded and then repainted. The paint had to be custom mixed, but it's a perfect match for what is original on the shell. So the whole thing looks believably aged instead of brand new.

This was a practice run for my 736. And I have to say, it came out better than I expected. That Berk is going to look a whole lot better this time next week.

Have a nice weekend everyone.

Jim,
How's that tender holding up?  Always curious how my 'passed along' items are doing...

A few days after I sold it to ya, and it was in the mail, I found 7 or 8 engines that needed a tender that I was interested in purchasing for restorations (converting to PSU engines)... Smile [:)] at least you didn't pass on that one! Wink [;)]
