Good morning everyone,
We finally have some sunshine today. It's still cold but at least it isn't snowing. It's been a wierd spring. The ice was off the lake before the end of March and then this past few days has been like we're back in winter. The forecast calls for gradual warming but not real quick. I am hoping to get the snow tires off the car on Friday. If the long range forecast looks good I think I will get that done.
I was in Buffalo the other day and decided to visit a couple of the local train shops. Both are Lionel dealers. My favorite one surprised me. I have never seen them so low on stock. The shelves were almost empty of all train cars. I thought something was funny because he has had a hard time getting the preorder stuff in over the last few months. I hope it isn't a sign of a store going out of business soon. Then I stopped at a larger hobby store that sells all gauges of trains. They were the unfriendliest folks to deal with. I asked a couple questions and it was like I was putting them out by asking. Even my wife commented as we left the store about their poor attitude. They might have a lot of stock but their attitude and prices will keep me from visiting often, if at all.
Another quiet day at school today. Kids are off all week and only the office staff is around. I think I will take a couple days off the rest of the week.
Have a good day all, TomS
Speaking of festivals, there is another great northern event celebrated every year.

Doug could probably run a street car over to it. Practically in his back yard.

Never made it to the grits festival, although I have been to the peanut festival in Dothan, AL, the Cottonlandia museum in Greenwood, MS, and the national Spam museum in Wisconsin. (No, I'm not making these up.)
Jim A. If it's a true 666, the smokestack should spin around, it should spray green smoke fluid in your face, and if you listen very carefully, you can hear the drivers say, "Paul is dead, Paul is dead . . ." (Whoops! Wrong urban legend. )
Maybe you could mount the track on the ceiling and see if it runs upside down? . . .
Looks like that turkey is a victim of soicumstance! Whoob whoob whoob whoob...

John,
What's your address? I have "something" I want to send you! Baptize it and send it back to me, ok?
Jim
Good morning from a sleety and miserable Chicago where I just go in the office after a 3 hour train ride - not a bad thing in itself - but jammed with a zillion commuters after a hour and a half wait for ComEd to remove downed power lines across the track. And the worst of it is for someone as frugal as myself - they all got a free ride and I got my ticket punched because I got on at an early station - rats!
Never been to Byron except I know they have a big nuke plant there - maybe their turkey bits glow in the dark. Did you see this look at Legacy II? http://normstrains.blogspot.com/2007/04/evening-with-lionels-legacy-system.htmlCan't wait to get my trolley!

Morning all!
Beautiful day here - sunny and headed to 75.
Been busy here. Not much to report.
I have figured out the reason teenagers are so difficult to deal with is so it is easier to kick them out of the nest when the time comes.
Have a great day all!
Regards, Roy

What a great idea! I wonder where you got it...

Jon,
How embarrassing! I was up there last year on a mission trip building a church sanctuary. We flew in to Minneapolis and drove on to Eau Claire, Wisconsin.
Guess I missed the "Now Entering Minnesota" sign when we went sight-seeing.

Let me see if I have this straight. The Northern Churches go on mission trips to the South where it is warm and sunny and the Southern Churches head to the North where it is cold, windy, rainy, snowy and generally miserably. I did not even mention the black flies and mosquitoes that are found in Minnesota and Wisconsin. I think that makes us pretty even after the fiasco in Harrisburg.
BTW, Dr. John, I heard that a church in International Falls, Minnesota would like you to visit them next January. Of course, for real mission work, Hell, Michigan could sure use your help.
A little favor for any of our coffee pot folks heading to York, if you come across a CTT Divco truck that is reasonable (under $30), I would appreciate if you could pick it up and I will gladly pay extra for shipping and finder's fees. Thanks
PS: If you would like, I could also buy some gifts from the Grits Festival that I could send up north.
Anyone have an idea where the Gauge went to?
I think they got lost in the woods.
Well, I am back after a long hiatus...took my old handle back as well as I could.
Still wondering what happened to the gauge.

Dr. John, Do you own a snowmobile suit ??? You should visit those places and spread the friendship.
By the way......Did I hear something ?? Whining ? Lost ??
Buckeyeland is getting pounded with hail, rain and thunder. Sixty MPH winds just to the north. Is it still snowing in N. Illinois?
Chuck - not to worry. I only visit the northern climes in the summer months.
Had some rough weather down here today. A tornado went about ten miles north of town heading from west to east. It never touched down, thankfully. Sirens went off all afternoon, then settled down shortly before 5 p.m. There were a few cases of wind damage up closer to Birmingham.
