Morning all!

Wife seems to be healing...She was up most of the night playing video games.

Daughter's eye is getting better!  It's a battle to get the Amox into her.  M&M bribes help, and she seems to have learned how to count!  Four M&M's?  You only gave me 2.

Had my father in for a visit, as usual with all company the drains backed-up.  Had drain cleaners come out to snake the drains.  They ended up breaking a pipe inside the wall, and when they came back they said it was rusty, they couldn't see it, and it wasn't their fault.  Did I mention I need to redo some of the laminate flooring that was dampened because of the leak?

Finished re-piping the drain to a secondary drain at the same location.  Will need to saw-cut the concrete floor and repair the drain line when I have time.

Other than that business as usual.  Did manage to win another Disney train...the one with the animated gondola.  Common Christmas!  Now to build a layout!

Best wishes and prayers to Sir James, and your neighbor.  I hope things are OK.  Great News about your mother Dr. John!

Does anyone know anything about CD players?  When I burn music on a music cd, it works in both of our cars but does not work on the CD/DVD player.  The player is ten(?) years old.  Is that the problem?  The player plays orginal disks perfectly.

See ya down the tracks,

In older cd/dvd players they do not support cdr or dvdr formatsSigh [sigh]

Time to upgrade that playerWhistling [:-^] my 2000 Transam will not play recorded mp3 files have not tryed a regular music track on  CDR.

Good Sat Morn.. to all,

Busy afternoon yesterday, EMS was called to my next door neighbors house she is 75 got 5 kids and as usual nobody to help when she needs it. anyway she leaned over to pick up some limbs she had trimmed and passed out. After they took her to the hospital, I put her garden things away and went to let her dog go out but she would not budge from the  chair I tried to pick her up but she gently let me know she wasn't moving. Finally about 8:30 one son showed up the dog did the same to him.So he put a leash on her and tip the chair until she slid off.I'm thinkin it must be  the chair my neighbor uses a lot.the son took the dog home with him. This is a dog that pees all over whenever she see's me.I guess they just know.

Well  that was my yesterday.Oh neighbor was still having test run last nite so don't know verdict. it was about 86 outside. Enjoy SAT and I'll be back,  RUN SOME TRAINS, Sir James

Good morning from a sunny Crystal Lake where it's Homecoming weekend at the high school. The big game last night was hampered by having to evacuate the stands for possible lightning a few times. I think they ended up playing through 1 am.

I had a great conversation with Jim A before he went off to the White Mountains of NH. He's graciously making a few decals for the Rail Zepp. Can't wait to see those Atlas trolleys.

Roy, may you not experience near the drama we are for your daughter's homecoming next weekend - dueling pre-dance parties, fighting with best friends, locked her (my) keys in the car twice... sigh.  We'll get over it. The bride and I took advantage of the 'quiet' to watch most of the first season of '24' - never saw it before. Just back from breakfast at my favorite diner - I am eating too much these days...

Dr. John, what a great looking holiday layout; praying for your mom's PT

Mel, have you heard of Righttrack (sp) layout software?

Hi Misty!

Prairie, 'Flags of Our Fathers' used the trains from the Illinois Railway Museum in Chicago's Union Station. I'm looking forward to seeing Ken Burn's "The War" documentary on PBS beginning tomorrow night.

Fife, have fun at Dover.

Good morning to all! Yes I' still lurking on the board. I read every day, just never seem to have time to post. Everyone is well. The farm layout that my son has chosen is slowly progressing but we are having fun. Now adding some of the Halloween elements to it! If I get some time, I'll post some pics on Sunday. It's not much to look at yet but he likes it and that's what matters to us! Still working on the scenery-tired of looking at a flat board but haven't tried to put in some hills. I finally figured out the pond problem however now he isn't sure if he wants it or notCensored [censored]. Oh well, I'm sure he'll change his mind again!

Just wanted to post to Buckeye that yes, because the CD player is older, it probably wasn't coded to play home recorded CD's. The newer ones should be able to play them with no problems.

RT LOL!!!!!! Good one.

  HI GIZ,

67 and little humid here yesterday was hot at 84.  Today to get to 81.

Went to BARRYs train shop and shot the breeze with MIKE for 2 hrs.  Guy came in with a S2 that was having problems and all it needed was a lube job.  I learned someting by hooking up test leads to the track and then to the engine while held in the craddle to be lubed.  Neat consept and you could run the engine upside down with the Cab1 while applying the grease.  Easy and effective and just a little speed to turn the gears to get the grease dispursed.  Thanks MIKE.

Only bought 40 seated people and found black bears .  They will help me find my bear when he's lost.

Had fire outside with wife and ate burgers and made up beans from the garden, oh yea beers tasted good too.

All have a good one.

After my morning post I got very busy at work with the post-op discussion with staff.  Outside the day warmed up, way up (90 degrees and humid). It is now 2:30 pm; I am home for the day and will begin prepariing for a meeting at Union Station tomorrow.  I am involved with the organization which is spearheading an effort to expand Amtrak service in Kansas by extending the Heartland Flyer, from Oklahoma City to Kansas City. We're working on the legislative agenda which is a companion to a series of public and legislative meetings that have already begun in Olahoma and Kansas.

Prairietype, I have been involved in the same for Ohio.  No longer on Board of Directors.  See http://209.51.133.155/cms/index.php  We are the only state without daylight Amtrak service and Columbus, the 11th largest city in the nation, does not have any passenger rail service.

Good morning everyone!!!  Ran the trains already this morning.  Hope to work on the layout expansion today and watch the games on TV.  After four days of work, I'm exhausted.  Of course it doesn't help that I had a head cold too.

Buckeye Jim, Congrats on being published!!!

Morning all,

Still pretty early, and I have been compiling a mass contact list for the legislative agenda for Amtrak exapansion in Kansas for about an hour now. Will meet with other members of the Heartland Flyer/Northern Flyer Alliance at mid-day at Union Station, and enjoy the great big layout there as well.

Tonight? Well I might watch Flags of our Fathers to see the great train scenes, or, I can continue working on my scratch-built Union Station facades. Whatever I do it will keep me busy today, and all of it will be a great time.

Tme for coffee

Good Morning from Blueberryhill....

It is a clear 56 degrees. Going up to 84, today, with sunshine.

Today is a busy day. I have a few chores to do and errands to run later. Still trying to find the cure for the A/C unit at home. I may have to call in a repairman on Monday. Icing on the coils in the furnace. Warmer air flow. I think the heat pump may need a new part.

No time for trains today. Wish I could.  Still need to ballast the steel bridge.

Dining car is here and ready for breakfast. Later.

Y'all have a great Saturday.

Yo Chief!  I think this is one of your tv shows:  Paramount has set The Tudors: The Complete First Season for DVD release on 1/2/08....

Trainz is shipping one of my last preorders SOON - Spooky smoke boxcar!  Cool!

John Baker - when you are moved, you'll have to keep an eye out for some Heeland Coos for my layout!  Wink [;)]

Well, howdy to all and it seems I'm alone here right now.  Sir James, hope you are feeling better as the day went on.  RT, sounds like the new job is working out, thank God!  Dr. John, it's really a blessing that you can help out like this - hope your mom gets well soon!  The hips seem to go a lot better than knee replacements from my experience of reading case files.  Hope everything is getting better for Kurt's family too!

Off to ride some real steam choos choos this weekend. Up where the maples are turning color and the water runs cold and clean. Will also check in on the real Flying Yankee.

Got what might be the last Williams flyer in the mail today. I'll keep it as a souvenier.

Friday afternoon in Jax, FL. Weather radio went off at 1:30 AM this morning-severe thunderstorm warning. 3:30-4:30 AM - lightning and thunder that wouldn't quit. Shook the house several times. Didn't get much sleep as a result. Bright sunshine today. Don't know whether we will dry out or not. Hard rains all week.

Question: Is there a software package for designing train layouts for Lionel O gauge track and accessories?

I just had a very pleasant conversation with Doug Murphy regarding all things trains. Doug will be very pleased to see what Atlas Industrial Rail is offering when he gets his new CTT! Doug, remember to print out that decal artwork and see how it fits on your rail zep. I'll size it down if need be.

Oh, and I see where CTT got sick of using Rebel gray in their advertsing and went to full color. A master stroke.

MORNING COFFEE POTTERS

Folks going every which way this morning.  We are expecting 85 today but won't be many of those left. I haven't been away from the house since Mon. so don't know latest gas prices but we sure have higher than most other states. I knew someone would notice the frosting missing on those cupcakes but I just couldn't help myself, they looked good."the devil made me do it".not my fault.

Ive been offered a ride to York, but passed as I really don't have anything on my want list and we have a couple of good shows locally although not anything compared to York. So the expense of going can be used to buy something here. As for me;we all know it takes a while to  get rid of a cold and thats where I am at, still feel yucky but waiting for tomorrow.

Good morning from a sunny and warm Chicago where it is Homecoming weekend at our daughter's high school - parade today, big game tonight for the as-yet-undefeated football team and big dance tomorrow evening with a house full of hungry teens beforehand. I may retreat to the basement after work today.  Nice to see everyone.

It's been a busy week for me; I hosted a conference which concluded yesterday.  Visitors to Kansas City loved it, and I of course found opportunity to take groups to Union Station for fine dinners. The G-gauge club already has their Christmas layout up-and-running, although all decoration isn't in place yet. The reason for the early installation is work being done on the sub-basement level of the station where the have their train set up.

Although this expansive layout (about 5 parallels on the main line in a huge U-shape with numerous upper level track) is primarily G, there is also an O system, and an S system within it. The Christmas layout is a popular thing to see, and a Kansas City train expo is scheduled for October 13-14th at Union Station which will complement this display.

And, if you go to a certain spot in the Station you get a nice above-the-tracks view of the rail traffic coming through the station (which is heavy), including an end on view of the Santa Fe Junction "Argentine Flyover" 3-level which often has 3-4, and sometime 5 trains intertwining at once.

Good morning all,

IIABSDISEI with temps in the 80s again.  It is amazing what difference a couple of days can make.  After Tuesday's game, I really did not think the boys' team would be able to make a creditable effort on the field.  Thursday they played their best game of the year, losing 1-0 to a state ranked team with the only goal being off a corner kick.  The boys had several scoring opportunities and stayed in the game until the very end, but just could not convert.  If they bring the same intensity to the last four games, they should win all four of their last games.  "My" soccer girls did not do badly either as they got a tie on the road.  Both teams go on the road for a double-header Saturday while I am reffing the youth games.

My wife has been getting a lot days at subbing, which is most unexpected, but nice.  I did track work at the YMCA, and read some of the November CTT.  The color ads are NICE.  There was a little extra on the dining car from "Points East" this morning.  I hope everyone has a good day, and I almost forgot to mention Jim's transformer tip on page 31 of the new CTT.  Very nice!

Keep on training,

Mike C. from Indiana
