Morning All,
Everyone's up this morning, Hello, got up without the achey part this AM,so I guess from here it's living with a cold for awhile. Thanks for all the get well wishes.
Kurt-You know your wife will have a few bad days ahead but then it gets better, I wish her well..My wife had two surgery's in a year and I knew she was getting better when she started complaining about how I had taken care of her. I did my best and she still was not happy. I hope your patient is more patient.
Every one working remember tomorrow is friday, and I'll try not to sit at the "coffee" pot as long today. Yesterday I was wondering if the "L" TMCC crane could have got me off the pot.

Morning all,
A bit nippy this morning, looks like an early fall.
Don, Us retired guys are so busy because it takes us twice as long to do anything as it used to.
Well off to breakfast.
Take care,

Good morning all,
IIABSDISEI with temps in the 80s. Referencing the above commentary, I could apologize for being a Yankee, but that would mean I would also have to apologize for being a Hoosier, and that is something I would never do. Indiana is home to the Indianapolis 500, "The Greatest Spectacle in Racing", Larry Bird, David Letterman, Tony Stewart, and one of the best college soccer programs in the country (IU). Thank you, Lisa in NC, for your observations as well. Maybe we will make some progress on that area.
My wife and I went to the YMCA. She did treadmill and I did weights and some track. I also got a MTH 069 Warning Bell thru eBay yesterday. I hooked it up for a test last night, and it looked like the striker was hitting both chimes, but only one was moving. I will have to experiment a little. It looks really nice. We also watched "Deal or No Deal" as well. Another night of soccer on tap today as the girls go on the road and the boys have a home game against a really tough team. Just the usual fare on the dining car from "Points East" as the "saucy wench" who serves my breakfast got called into work today at school. I hope everyone has a good day.

Good Morning from Blueberryhill....
It is a sunny 55 degrees. Going up to 85 today, with lots of sunshine.
Today is a stay at home day. I have a bunch of chores to do around here. The big umbrella on the back deck needs cleaning. And I need to work on the riding mower. May have a tire leak. All outside things.
No train time today. Getting a lot of material together for the winter scenery projects. I'll pick up a few things at the Train Show.
Well, Dining Car is here. Time for breakfast. Later.
Y'all have a great Thursday.
Chuck
Hi GIZ,

Half day o school tomorrow because of the GREAT GRATZ FAIR, just up the road. Unfortunitly I'm not a FAIR GUY, kind a FOUL if you'd ask people?

That was a pretty funny post from Lisa. And so were the replies I didn't post! I thought the Chief's post about monitoring the Ohio animal control calls for skunks was pretty funny. I laughed, but then again, I'm always laughing. Yup. The Chief made me laugh. Reminds me of the old saying about a blind dog finding a bone every once in a while.

Just got thru a bit of the pot backlog.
Sir James: What's going on??? Did you put a pot in front of the trains, so you can be on the pot, talk on the pot, and run trains? Sounds great! Add a refrigerator within arms length, a phone and an entrance for the pizza guy, and it sounds like heaven. Leg attrophy may be a small price to pay for a while until full rigamotise sets in, then you won't feel a thing, and you'll be just fine.
Seriously, if you need anything, hollar. I have to be home with the patient today, Dr's orders. 'Responsible adult' needs to keep an eye on her for 24-hours.

Thanks for the fresh coffee Don !!
Don : Not sure how much inspection is done by trucks, or special telemetry cars or coaches, not my Dept, but the track inspectors are out inspecting track everyday here on our mainline. The train crews all complain about slow orders caues they are fixing track somewhere all the time. Then every so often the Sperry Rail Sevice comes in & takes more track out of service !! The mainlines are all solid welded rail now & if there are real hot days, they reduce the speed & all kinds things change or more inspections have to be made.
Well, I'm up to 2 o'clock now !!
Thanks, John

I don't understand, why would someone prefer to work outside in Snow and Humidity??? Unless they just like to play with big trucks, and tractors.
Rich - Sorry didn't mean to offend the mechanics, with the dentist analogy. There does seem to be 1 differeance, when I leave the dentist office as compared to the mechanics the pain is usually at the opposite ends.
RT and Buckeye - Sounds like the new positions are working out. Great news!
Chief - Have you returned that copy of CTT to Miss Edna yet?
John - Interesting article, how much track inspection is done automatically by rolling stock?
Well, wife is packing for her trip. Going to be gone a month. Chris and I divided up the grocery shopping while she is gone, he's buying the milk, I buy the cereal. We got 4 cars between the two of us, so will just switch off when they need gas. I have a feeling things may become a little liberal here.
Have a great day all, the Coffee is Fresh

Well, tomorrow night I go on 3rd. trick. Yuk, again . Oh well, Maybe Jim, (Stugeon-Phish) can yell over at me unless he's back on days already !! I'm staying up all night to get switched around !! I may do some scenery in a little while !! I always like to be productive, except at work !!

We all know. Think it goes with Lisa's ID of you the other day.
Lisa does not know DUKE as well as I do. Not my favorite CO. Recently chastized by the Utilities Commission for not repairing their lines after a storm. Some folks out of power for a month. Duke owned the Harland Co. coal mine [big miners' strike] and the Company that Erin B [what ever her name is that Julia Roberts played] got for contaminating the area.
Glad I'm Progress Energy [old Carolina Pwoer and Light].
Goood night [be reclinerizing].
More rain in Jacksonville today. St. Augustine has been getting slammed since mid afternoon. Skipped choir practice in St. Augustine tonight as the 37 mile trip up US 1 and Southside Boulevard is no picnic in good weather-even worse in the rain.
Actually had a train running on Level 4 in the train room tonight. The Century Club II PRR sharks with 6 Madison style cars behind. Units ran like scared cats after several months of sitting on the siding.
Brutus Some of the wiring between levels is run down the corners away from view but haven't figured out quite what to do with the wires underneath the platforms. Was trying plastic window screen which has promise. Level 3 is the major problem as it has 4 turnouts, a coal ramp, conveyor coal loader, rotary dumber, milk car, horse car, cattle car, barrel loader, conveyor lumber loader, gantry crane, Mel's Diner, Bacule bridge, signal bridge, operating gateman, 497 coal loader, and I'm trying to squeeze in a few more things as well!
Will have to do a sketch for everybody.

Mike - Duke Energy contracts that work out and generally have set rules as to what is and is not cut without the property owners permission.
The company that contracts their trimming work out around here is very good. They came thru our area a year or so ago and Duke E. left notices on our doors that they were scheduling this work in our neighborhood and appx when it would occur.
We met with the foreman of the crew and asked what work he was planning on our property. We asked if they would just take down a couple of really tall pines as the trimming would make them heavy on the side next to our house. They said that they would be glad to. They did an excellent job, just as we had asked. They told us they would clean up all the brush and cut any logs into manageable size pieces. They did so and piled it in two different places.
If they are still in your neighborhood, see the foreman and if you want more trimming done or the tree removed, they may do it as long as they are still working in the area. If you aren't around during the time when they are there, call your local office and they will get someone to talk to you - if they are like the offices in NC. Really good people around here.
Duke Power has been a wonderful company in our area and I think they just "merged" with some other companies in surrounding states, then became Duke Energy.
Good luck!
Today was National Talk Like a Pirate Day - ARRR!
Why are Pirates so Mean? They just ARRR!
Hard to keep up with all the posts today, but wanted to be sure to wish Dr. John's mom well and hope she gets through this soon. Kurt's wife to heal quickly. Can't remember, but I feel there were some more, so Prayers for us all and our loved ones.
Mike C - The electric Co here got in so much hot water after that huge ice storm, they have really hacked up trees all over the place. SOunds like the guys that got yours were a little over-enthusiastic and also not very good at their job. Good luck.
Jim A - welcome back dude! Go back a couple pages and find the batmobile link from Doug Murphy - it's great and you'll like it! Keep the jokes coming, man.
Sir James - I think Don is right. Be careful! Next time you might want to pace yourself! Seriously, hope you are feeling better! Now, go comb your ears and "other" areas!
John S - Sounds like you might have to pick Sir J up on the way over later. We've got a bunch of snack cakes and also chips. Went to Wally World for some paint brushes and filters for the vac cleaner.
Don B - I am really impressed by your layout plan! What time was your dentist appointment, Tooth-Hurty? (say it out loud)
Laz - check out the bow hunter email I sent!
Nick, sounds like a nice weekend planned with your son.
Dave, 88 and Doug M - mix some iron shavings in the chocolate and leave it out - you will soon be rid of the mice!
Hi Lisa, we overlapped in our posts!
Rich, my buddy Jeff swears by Bourbon and Theraflu - sweats the bug right out of you (he claims). He sure is sick a lot though

rt,
Most likely, the riveted part of the post sheared off. Do what the repair guy at did at the LHS that Marty and myself go to; tighten the post nut down and keep turning. If the post turns and pulls out, you found the problem. Do yourself a favor and get the bolt on repro post. It is much easier to install than the rivet on type.
Jumijo,
Glad to see you back. I wondered what happened.
jefelectric - ...didn't miss a thing.
88 - I like that little show they have over there in Arbutus. I always wind up with something for a couple dollars. My buddy Tom should be there with his wares. Plus, St Denis and Relay are just around the corner...
Heading to DOVER this weekend for the stock car race. Dale Jr officially announced his new sponsors (AMP Mountain Dew, National Guard) and number, 88. When I saw the new cars (Chevy Impalas), I kinda thought, "that's it?" I was really hoping his look would be retro, from the 80's Dew Crew scheme. AMP...never heard of it... Similar topic, Kasey Kahne unveiled his new Budweiser #9 Dodge. Kinda plain Jane too...

Good evening everyone,
I've been so busy the past couple of weeks that I feel like I am out of touch. All the best to Dr. John's Mom and any others that I have missed. I didn't know that Jim was away, but welcome back anyway. Don, Sounds like the dentist had a few payments coming due!
I only read the current page so I probably missed a lot. Hope everyone is in fine health.
Dr. John Yes Hope your Mom Does well shes in our prayers here.
Got my ZW in today there seems to be a problem with the U post above the D Post. as the D works If I hook to the U post above the C post so guess wire loose inside. Other than that its seems to be great. sure has the power (I'm use to the little ones they give you with the cheaper sets lol. ) Will need to put a new cord on it also as it has a cord I'm not to thrilled with lol. ( 2 twisted wires going to a plug that you put the wires under a screw )
Not to much going on here
Did run some traions again tonight wife hasn't said track needs to come up yet so I'm pushing it as haven't had trains in a long time

Rich, this isn't 1978. The Red Sox are all but destined for a playoff spot. I read in tonight's paper that they don't care about winning the division nearly as much as resting the pitching staff and setting up the rotation for the post season. So after that was explained to me, I stepped off the edge of the Tobin bridge and unhooked the chain and cinder blocks from my neck. Let the Yankmees shoot their wad trying to win the division crown.
Still, it would be nice to finish first.
Afternoon all. Prayers for Dr. Johns mom. Hope for a quick recovery!
I thought about a hinged shelf a few times for the transformers. I finally finished the tunnel. Turned out OK.
Have a great day all!
