Bizzarre news item: I read that George Gipp's (The Gipper) body was exhumed on Oct. 4 for DNA testing. Kind of a quirky sports story. He's been dead for 87 years.

Good morning all,

IIABSDISEI with temps in the 60s.  Last night was a little different.  My dad and I went to Columbus to listen (and meet) Sarah Fisher.  The local extension of IUPUI hosted a leadership program and had her speak at it.  She may not be the most polished public speaker, but it was nice to hear her perspective on her career and the state of the Indy Racing League.  There were bran muffins on the dining car from "Points East" this morning.  I hope everyone has a good day.

Keep on training,

Morning!

More on the Banquet & Store Brand Pot Pies...

ConAgra Foods said on Thursday that it was voluntarily recalling all varieties of Banquet brand frozen pot pies and all varieties of store brand frozen pot pies following concerns that its poultry pot pie products may be linked to an outbreak of salmonella.

http://www.cnbc.com/id/21261441

If it's just the poultry pies why are they recalling ALL pot pies???  My 2 cents [2c]

Still rainy here this morning in New England. Looking forward to the weekend. The weather is supposed to be dry and cool, and we have a family gathering tomorrow night. My wife's cousin will be there and he is starting a layout - 027 stuff.

Ahhh, no homework tonight with the kids. I wish I could dope them up so they would sleep late in the morning. 6AM is a little early to have 3 kids jumping on your chest (or other vulnerable parts of one's anatomy).

Congratulations to Al Gore!

EVENING FOLKS,

I was watching this old house too.Everything always goes well on there. do you think that cast iron connector would have came loose that easy for me? I don't think so. It's my understanding Cartoon network owns the old WB cartoons we all miss so much, but they shelved them. At least we can get DVD's.

Brutus thanks for the cake I'll leave some for someones coffee.   Sir James

This is an add on;The only TV shows I have are the Dean Martin roast. good entertainment.

Good evening everyone.  Sorry I haven't checked in lately.  Been busy with work, kids school activities and the movie.  We officially start filming Monday, but we actually started this past Thursday.  I would check back more often, but this web site is kinda slow and it seems I rarely have the time right now.  If anyone needs to talk to me, drop an email, I can usually check in every other day or so.

Y'all  have a great weekend,

Dennis

Jim,

Thanks for the heads up on the portholes.  That seller has been selling those for awhile.  However, I got repro 2353-11 portholes from Jeff when I changed the shell.  I know they aren't proper for the 2343, but I didn't want to spend $50 for portholes.  I'd rather put that towards an engine or accessory.  Thanks again.

I can remember when cartoons were about laughter and slapstick hummor and not japanese culture "invading" the minds of the youthSign - Off Topic!! [#offtopic]SoapBox [soapbox] I will take loony tunes, hanabarbera and other "classics" the only two modern kids cartoons I liked was Voltron and Robotech, as for mindless tv watching I like in order King of the hill, simpsons, family guy and american dad oh and futurerama.

Disclaimer:

There is nothing wrong with Japanese animation just a difference of a generation gap and personal preffrences, now Japanese trains thats another story I would love to see some trains that are models of overseas prototype trains.

That's very cool, Chief!

Just finished watching Survivor and now taping CSI and Supernatural.  Re-watching Working on the Railroad so the kids can't see the "bad" shows.  Do they always work on garden railroads?

Wouldja believe...

Those old tv shows were great in their day, but the kids and I just watched the Monkees with On Demand. The show didn't age well. And their dummy still creeps me out! Still, it was pretty innovative in its day.

WB cartoons on the other hand are timeless classics. Hysterical stuff then and now. There isn't a bad one in the bunch.

I'm watching This Old House while I'm typing. Rich is swapping out a tub trap. Why am I reminded of Brent?

Evening all.  Home from funeral, Red Robin with IL's, Belks for at sport coat and Wranglers at Traget.  Went to feed the deer at dark.  6 ladies waiting for the corn.  They will probably get tamer.  Resting and TV now.  Carter [Grandson] came today.  He is flying to Ft. Lauderdale tonight.  Told him he was trying to catch Granddad with frequent flier miles.  He flew to Boston a few weeks ago for his Uncle's wedding [Chris' brother], to Chicago for his Uncle's and Aunt's [new bride] race and now to Ft. Lauderdale to Aunt's [Chris' sister] to help do wedding planning.  7 month old jetsetter.

Really cooler here.  Later

Kurt, that would be totally cool - Killll the waaaabiittt!  Oh Bwoomhilda, you're so wuvwyy!

Jumijo, they have like 4 or 5 golden collections of the old Warners cartoons at about $30 a pop on sale, but each one has a ton of cartoons.  I think we have the first 3 collections so far.  Now, I wish they would finally release the old 60's Batman tv show, but the sales of the Batman The Movie (60's version) were not very good and also there are fights over the rights, so there is a big question as to when these will finally come out.

Would you believe I'm thinking about getting the complete Get Smart set from TimeLife for Christmas?!  There is a complete best of Johnny Carson set coming out in a few weeks that should be good too, and also a complete set of Man from Uncle (I'm iffy on that one - I remember I loved it as a kid, but I haven't seen that show in over 30 years I guess).  I'm waiting for CSX John to post a review of that black diamond dvd too.

Warner Brothers just released a few seasons of the Bugs/Daffy/Looney Toons on DVD.  Check Target.  Also for real entertainment...next summer look for a Warner Brothers Orchestra performance.  They play the cartoons on the big screen, and the Live orchestra plays the music.  Typically the audience does the singing and dialogue.

I saw this at an outdoor venue...the whole hill singing 'kill the waaabbit...kill the waaabit!

I can't believe it, Doug. My son, John came out of nowhere with that Batman movie DVD about 2 hours ago wanting to watch it. I slipped it back upstairs when he was eating dinner. I've seen it 12,000 times. "Some days, you just can't get rid of a bomb".

I love Warner Bros cartoons. Never ever see them on tv any more. Thank goodness for youtube!

We just ran some postwar trains for a while. Got out the 2055 and watched it run smooooooth. Then we had a rousing air hockey tournament. Dad was the only loser, as any decent dad should be...

I'm hoping some station will broadcast a bunch of old black and white sci-fi space movies this month. Love that stuff!  Alien [alien]

Look! It's Duck Dodgers of the 21st and a half century to the rescue! Greetings from a grey and cold Crystal Lake where I have  been spending money all day - car repairs, winter coats for the kids, house stuff, ugh. No trains. At least I found a Batman movie at the library - Adam West and Bruce Ward versus the United Underworld - it features the Bat boat and Bat copter. Atomic batteries to power! Turbines to speed! Ready, Batman!
